I used to almost always used Marriott for my travel. However, the last three times I have tried to book a room on Marriott's website I couldn't log in. Even if by some miracle you get into the site it is not user friendly. If you need to check different special rates, you have to check them individually. The last three times I tried to use Marriott I finally gave up and went to Hilton. Hilton's site its more user friendly and much more attuned to the customer.
As a lifetime Titanium member, a downgrade from the highest possible Platinum status I enjoyed, I just called first the Courtyard at the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, FL and then the Bonvoy Elite number to get a rate for this hotel for a three week stay. The rack rate without any discount was just over $ 190.00/night. I asked for the Mayo patient rate, which Mayo schedulers and Marriott personnel on both calls acknowledged existed. The problem is that the patient rate was HIGHER - different rooms at different rates – by at least $ 20.00/day for the cheapest option than the rack rate. Is Marriott so desperate for money that the need to prey on the most vulnerable, those that need the services of this hospital, to make its bottom line for a hotel that is old and, frankly, dilapidated?
Marriott was once rated the best hotel chain globally. Those days are long gone, and I see more and more Bonvoy members online comment on that. However, this practice takes the corporation from mediocre to outright unethical and disgusting. I am appalled at myself for having been loyal to Marriott for so many years.
So ive been to alot of places, this last time I had a real bad stay, and all there cusomer service desk clerk would do is just smile and say there sorry, well when youre looking to make things right, and a refund, or something to make up for a very poor stay due to a smoke alarm chirping constantly through out the night... ya totally disappointed
I booked a room at theRenaissance Chicago O'hare Suite Hotel. I needed to cancel so I called the hotel 30 hours before check in. I was told I had to cancel on line, so I did. I received a confirmation # for my cancellation. Four days later my card was charged. I figured I would wait three days because it was a mistake. Three days later I called the hotel and Louis was very nonchalant about the situation, told me the room was cancelled. I provided him with the cancellation number, and he then replied I would have to wait until Monday to talk to someone. I asked for a manager, and he replied "There's no manager here." Never again!
It has been since May of 2021 when we stayed at Towneplace Suites in Logan UT, we stayed there for 30 nights and all we ever received was 1 nights credit, the manager Brady and his asst Manager have never corrected it and blamed Marriott! I even sent all the emails and text msg to an ABC affiliate and got told they could not get a response from anyone! Sorry company for treating a Disabled Veteran and his family like this! Shameful!
My company accidentally booked my stay through a 3rd party and after I stayed and paid my invoice, I called customer service to add my points/stays to my account and was told there was nothing they could do. I asked if there was any options and was told no.
Marriott Residence Inn@ BWI BAD BUSINESS! I cannot write a review about the hotel room since I have not stayed at this location. I booked a room 2 months in advance for the JAZZ FESTIVAL at a rate of $117 per night. Good deal right? I just got a call from Anne Daily that the rate has changed to $509 per night. The Manager Jeffery Bault thought he was doing me a favor by giving me the discounted rate of $299 a night. They said I was not suppose to get that rate because I wasn't on a particular list. They waited three weeks before the event to notify me of this mistake. I am furious! I should not have to pay the price for their mistake. Why is the customer always inconvenienced? Need help? I tried the corporate office, but they are giving me the run around. The Residence Inn at the Marriott even sent me a confirmation email of $117 and now $509. REALLY! Any advice? I really don't want to give up my getaway weekend with my husband. :(
Marriott advertises flexible cancellations. However, I am unable to cancel my reservation. I am a lifetime platinum elite member and am unable to cancel a reservation that my wife made. She has Covid and is unable to travel. Basically, Mareriott's response was too bad, you prepaid so you are out of luck. The agents advise was to not prepay in the future. Hilton is a brand that I have never encountered this type of issue. I will not use Marriott again. Keep the prepaid room and lose all future business from my family, seems like a good move on the part of Marriott!
I had very bad experience with Marriot.
I was charged for 4 nights and yet I stayed only for one night. They would not refund my money. I spoke to a manager who hung up on me.
Just finished ANOTHER phone call to customer no service. Used Bonvoy app to arrange a stay using points and got charged anyway. Now everyone from Bonvoy to the Marriott property to my Chase Bonvoy card refuses to remove the charge. Beware!

Customer rep on the phone got frustrated with me and just decided to put me on hold hoping I would hang up. If you job is to help people and you clearly don't have any hospitality in you and you're miserable do everyone a favor and just quit your job. Super rude and waste of my time. In the past year I have been over charged twice! I get that mistake happen, however this last time I stated at one of their properties I was charged for 3 nights when I only stayed one, the two extra charges were after I checked out! I called Marriott customer service and I was told to take it up with the hotel I stayed at, did that and got nowhere. I stayed on 10 June 22, checked out the 11th and I was charged twice for the 12th of June. Here's the kicker they said they refunded 1 of the charges on the 12th(haven't seen that charge back), but I would have to take it up the with my bank on the other charge! I wasn't even there, have proof I was in another city... and oh did I mention I am Titanium Elite!
Not liking the Marriott customer service. SPG, like Sheraton for ex., makes you feel more appreciated as a customer. For ex. They put you on a SPG floor. Marriott doesn't really do that and their rewards program is not as generous as SPG. Sheraton makes the customer feels like a king, as they even would give you a complimentary upgrade just for being a SPG mbr. I'm so afraid now that Marriott took over SPG, meaning I probably have to get used to the underwhelming customer service from Marriott vs.the Superior customer service from SPG...
Great place to stay. Not too expensive. Clean excellent staff, especially Danny. Went above and beyond to help us when our car broke down on road trip. Restaurants around and great over experience
I spent one night at the resort and was charged a crazy amount tried to get help to fix it but no one would help very disappointed and never go back.My attorney has been called.
Travelled several hours with my service dog to stay here for a veteran health workshop. Front desk supervisor ordered me to my room yelling at me after asking for my compensation as she never offered me anything checking in (marriott me er guarantee) she belittled me, yelled, ignored me and I could not take it so tried asking her to call the JW a ross the street and I would stay with them the last night she refused. She even went to my veteran colleagues and hosts and told them (not me) she was considering calling the police?! Why because I asked for compensation a d had earlier asked for my bed to be made with clean sheets! That was it! I never once raised My voice or was rude. I took a VOICE RECORDING of the whole incident after she became annoyed and Im so glad I did! I ended up leaving that day as I was cery emotional and stressed I drove home all through the night shocked at what happened. I called marriott customer service... 4 times and do you know what they have done? NOTHING after being a elite member for over 15 years! I need a lawyer.

I am sitting here in our room at the Marriott without our PROMISED special Valentine's Day special dinner. They ran out of it on Valentine's Day. Ribeye, cheesy potatoes, bourbon glazed carrots, chocolate mousse, and a bottle of champagne. The manager promised we could have the dinner on the 15th at 5:00 pm instead. 5:00 pm came and went. No dinner. No phone call all day. We were told about the romantic dinner when we called to book our room for the long three day holiday weekend. Room service, a fancy dinner. This is the main reason we booked this hotel. My husband is scrambling right now to get to Texas Roadhouse, which is packed, to get a comparable dinner."Megan" told us we could order off the menu (not nearly as good) or she could plate up 200 dinners and THEN the chef could make a "Chef's Special" for us. What is included in the Chef's Special? She didn't know. Seriously? "Megan, what does the Chef's Special consist of?" "I don't know." DONE. They threw us under the bus. Then they backed over us. Romance is dead at the Marriott. P. S Its alive and well at Texas Roadhouse! They put together a nice meal for us after my husband told them what happened!
