I have bought several deals through their site. I have never had a problem with them. I guess I should be more leery in the future. But, so far, so good. I have received $20 for $10 voucher for Whole Foods, Color Me Mine vouchers, Photobook.com vouchers, Tinytots.com vouchers and more. No problem so far. If something changes I will revise.
Lydia Jane Coutts Can anybody tell me what to do if they have purchased a travel/accommodation deal with LivingSocial and it hasnt worked out and has complained 4 times and does not get a response from anybody at LivingSocial? On this basis, how can one actually take advantage of any travel deal? If you go to a travel agency, you have some backup and customer support but it appears with LivingSocial that you dont. Bit risky to book any travel this way is my opinion?
Unfortunately this website went from bad to a NIGHTMARE! If you have a problem with a deal well good luck getting your money back cause they never answer the phone calls, emails are usually rude people who basically tell u that they don't care and u gonna waist your money. Their customer service it's terrible, and sometimes their vendors don't honor the voucher.
I had an account and I end up closing it due to the lack of customer service and now I have vouchers that are useless.
My FIRST purchase with Living Social was my LAST…
On September 29,2011 I paid $150 for a session at a Looking Glass Plastic Surgery in San Francisco. I made 3 attempts to make an appointment with no success. I called Living Social to get a refund and talked to Kristie who sounded as if to be reading from queue card as she kept repeating their "return policy" I was only offered a LS credit to my account. I advised I purchased a service for which the merchant made it impossible to redeem, I wanted my money back. I asked to speak with a supervisor, Jeff got on the phone and repeated everything Kristie told me. I assume Jeff is just a guy in the next cubicle reading off the same queue card. Jeff said he had called the office and was told they had availability, I explained that I paid for a service for which the merchant makes it virtually impossible to redeem, they are not open weekends the office closes at 4 pm weekdays, this was the last week I have available until February, the Dr. is unavailable all week and the deal expires Jan 31st. JEFF HUNG UP ON ME after I told him my husband does a bay area radio show and this won't be good for business. I filed a claim with my bank who promptly returned my money and my husband is now collecting data for a "new" topic for his weekly radio show (syndicated worldwide)
After reading merchant complaints I totally understand why I couldn't book an appointment - LS is ripping the merchants off as well as the consumers.
This was the first time I've used an online coupon site and the last. Four friends and I bought tickets to attend a sushi-making course in Seattle at $55 each. However, three of us fell sick, - that not even being able to roll out of bed kind of sick - and as such couldn't make it. Even though the course was being run for the following three weekends and was only half-full we figured we'd be able to postpone it. Instead we were told that was it. No postponement. No credit. No partial refund. Nothing.
They kept our $220, provided nothing, and that was that. This is the first company I've ever dealt with that made zero attempt at customer service. Hands down the worst experience I've ever had as a consumer.
Avoid this company like the plague.
Worse customer service of all voucher/coupon sites! Purchased multiple vouchers and was unsatisfied with the restaurant as they would not honor my voucher. After waiting ten minutes on the phone to speak to customer service, she kept advising me that she'll look into it. The agent, Clarissa, then hung up on me while I was trying to explain why the restaurant said they wouldn't honor my coupon.
Sent them 99 quid for a set of stacking oak tables from Pulchra Interiors. Tables have never been delivered and money has been taken from my account. No response to loads of emails either from LivingSocial or Pulchra. Why don't the authorities take these crooks down?
Living Social is the absolute worst to deal with. They do not stand behind their customer service policy at all. I had a merchant refuse to honor my voucher because they hate Living Social. The merchant actually told me that when I called to make the appointment to use my voucher. I requested a refund from Living Social and they told me that was too bad. Refunds can only be made 5 days after purchase of a voucher. I have never had a problem like this with Groupon. Groupon has always responded quickly to any problem and they have no problem in issuing a refund when the merchant is not co-operative. I will never buy another voucher from Living Social again, I don't care how bad I want the deal or how great a deal it is. If they are not willing to make good to the customer when a merchant doesn't uphold their end of the bargain, they have no business being in business. I have 2 complaints pertaining to the same issue and their response has been both times to restate their refund policy. So much for their customer service promise that they will make sure the consumer is always satisfied. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND THEIR PHONY DEALS!
Living Social is horrible, they have numerous federal class action lawsuits pending regarding the expiration dates. Their "terms and conditions" violate state and federal comsumer laws. This company is making a windfall profit from consumers buying their deals and bank on them not using the gift certificate during the short time period... and then don't give refunds. I think the only people not giving refunds are drug dealers and Living Social... see you in court scammers!
I purchased a nest of tables via Living Social. I allowed the 21 days for delivery as per the description. After 22 days when the tables hadn't arrived, I contacted Living Social who told me I needed to contact the supplier. They had no name for the supplier just a mobile number. The 'Gentleman' who answered the phone was very rude, told me that 30 sets of tables including mine had been destroyed in a crash and that I had to contact Living Social for a refund. I contacted Living Social who told me they had to wait for Merchant Services to authorise a refund. 48 hours later I called again to be told they were waiting to inspect the tables with a view to redelivering them. By this point I was not interested in receiving the tables and I just wanted a refund but no one will tell me when I can expect this. They have had my money for over a month, the customer service people just spout the same old patronising rubbish without actually helping. As the customer I am out of pocket with no information. If it goes wrong, it is really bad!
Save your time and money. This company is a joke to deal with. Too lengthy of a situation to go into, just mark my word and stay away. There are too many other quality companies to support. Only giving one star because I can't give a ZERO!
I would not recomend using this company. I ordered a deal and received an email conformation that my order had been placed. The next day I get an email saying my order was canceled because my wife had purchased the same deal on her account. The deal was no longer available so there was no way for me to try to re-order. I contacted the company and did not hear back for 5 days. When they finally responded it was just to tell me I was out of luck and there is nothing they can do. They then encouraged me to look for some other great deals from them. As if I would order from them again when they screwed me over.
Thought I ordered dance classes for my granddaughter; however, something went very wrong and they never got the order. Now, on 12/19/11, I have to find another gift. I have dealt with Groupon many times and never had any problem. My other order from Living Social for MadDonald's burgers was also very late coming.
The Customer Service for Living Social is terrible. Took me 3 days to get a real person. The phone system is terrible and rude. They actually hang up on you if their representatives are too busy - and their representatives are VERY busy handling their problems. Do not deal with them unless you want to be disappointed.
I got 3 people to buy this deal and they promised my credit for my deal would be automatic. It was not. I have emailed them twice - no response. I have called them 8 times during normal business hours to get a recording to call back during normal business hours and then get disconnected. I would have to say they are going belly up and ripping off the customers. The other reason might be some knucklehead is trying to run this thing out of his closet. Either way - DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH LIVINGSOCIAL.COM because you cannot reach them via email or telephone. RIP OFF!
Well not happy with Living Social this morning. If you purchased a deal with them, you then have the option of posting it or emailing it to others and if you get 3 of your friends to buy one then yours is free. Well I purchased mine and then a friend purchased 3 more. They're now telling me that mine isn't free b/c I had to have 3 separate friends purchase it. Pretty sure that was never mentioned! Besides, they're getting the same amount of money either way so what does it matter. Anyway... Me + 3 with Living Social is a SCAM! Will definitely use Groupon or Half Off Depot now. Also, half off depot had the same deal for $30 less but I went with LS because I had purchased from them before. NO MORE!
Bought 2 different deals from them and when I went to redeem them in the last week of the deal, the businesses never got back to me. So basically trying to have me lose the timeframe to register and use the deal. One called back saying come in and then were closed when I went in at the allotted time.
Then livingsocial says its good for it's value which is useless unless you spend another $100-200 to be able to get nominal use out of the "offer". When i called they pretty much implied, suck it up, put in more money into it and get something or lose the whole thing since the value paid is not worth anything; implying 1 salsa lesson being more than $40. I don't think so! LIVINGSOCIAL AND THE TWO COMPANIES I got these deals for lost a customer as i would have bought and stuck with them and will review the other two businesses as well so people know to stay away.
No one will get back tome or help me. This is what they sent in an email and now I haven't heard anything else. I need these vouchers since Chritmas is in 9 days!
HELP HELP

I've now purchased 2 different certificates from them, where the merchant has advised they were already "used" upon my presenting them. Living Social sells duplicates of it's certificates. This most recently happened to me at Whole Foods - they told me my certificate was used. Living Social then told me the same thing when I asked for a refund... except that I had never used it. There is no recourse for this, they just call you a liar and tell you to move on.
FRAUDULENT WEBSITE!
Purchased a deal for a two-hour picnic sail with Seven Seas Sailing in Buffalo, NY through Living Social in April 2011. We booked our sail for August 2011, and then never heard form the company again! I attempted to contact this company 7 total times (phone and email) before and after our booekd date, and have not received any response. This merchant has obviously made a deliberate attempt to not deliver on the deal, and I have definitely been ripped off on this deal since it expired on 11/30/11.
Living Social refuses to refund our money becasue their records show that the company is still in busienss. I would recommend that Living Social spend more effort on due dilligence on new merchants before offering deals through them. I understand that Living Social may not want to be held responsible for the actions of corrupt merchants, but I am shocked and disappointed that they would not offer a refund for this situation.
I am a small business owner who just opened the doors to my first business (a spa). I signed up with LS long before my spa opened through a friend/client who works for the company. I was hoping by the time we opened, my deal would hit and I would get the business I needed to jump start my business.
She told me there was a 4-6 week waiting period in which LS chooses when to run your deal so that you can sell the most vouchers. She also told me (after 7 weeks waiting), that there is a "method to the madness", for some reason they feel my deal would work better at another time and that she has no power over when the deal runs and there is nothing I can do but wait.
No one contacted me. The only correspondence was with my rep/friend/client, who had no idea what was taking so long and basically said I have no choice but to wait.
After almost 9 weeks of waiting and BTW, X-mas is less than 2 weeks away, she tells me that instead of running a deal on LS, they are bumping me to the Amazon site and they will run my deal another time!
What BS! I feel like my deal is not good enough, so they are giving me a consultation prize!
In the meantime, I ran my THIRD deal with Groupon and my first deal with Gottahalfit. Both companies called me to discuss EVERYTHING! From the specifics of the deal, my deal run date, verb-age of the deal etc., and was up and running (and earning $) within a few weeks!
The deal I am running is perfect for the holidays and I really have NO idea why they are stalling me, but I can assure you this will be my only experience with Livingsocial!
Answer: I wouldn't recommend these people to anyone. A total nightmare. They take your money don't send the goods and they don't answer e mails
Answer: There do seem to have been some financial problems with many of the deals from Living Social. But when I had a problem they answered the phone and it was dealt with quickly and the goods resent.
Answer: Have you contacted the customer service at Livingsocial.com? I have found them to be pretty responsive in the past. This is a seperate review site.
LivingSocial is a leading "daily deal" site that sells discounted experiences and local services--restaurants, spa trips, home services, travel, etc.--via voucher. The consumer must pay for the voucher upfront, and the voucher generally must be used within a specified time period or it cannot be redeemed. To make these deals possible, LivingSocial sells merchants on its ability to help "find and keep more customers". LivingSocial is a private company based in Washington DC and its shareholders include Amazon.com.
