Terrible experience
March 27, 2025

On 03/21, I placed an order to build a pc worth $2.4K and paid with PayPal (which went straight to my credit card which shows the full payment). I received an email confirmation with a link to track the status on my order, which I've used every day to check progress, and every time I've looked into it, I got the same non-answer. Finally today 03/27, I called and spoke with an associate who didn't seem to care about my concern. At first, he simply stated that there seemed to be an issue with the address. The issue being that there was no apartment number. I explained to him that that was simply, because I don't live in an apartment, adding that I was puzzled by why would that be an issue. My PayPal info does include an apartment and, when I placed my order online, I'd filled up their form with my correct address (same as in Paypal). Not to mention, that they could have called or emailed me, considering the fact that the order was placed 6 days ago. Having clarified the issue and discussed about the absurdity of the reason, the associate came to inform me that my payment had to be validated before they assembly team can get to start processing my order. Asked why, he just responded by repeating the same statement. So, apparently, having received the payment from Paypal (and payment has been added to my credit card statement) iBuypower still needed to be "validated". Eh?! I don't know about you (readers) but that sounded like BS to me. But, moving on. When asked about that (absurd) part, the answer as expected -and I am paraphrasing here-: "It is what it's is. And you can get around it". So, at this point, they have received my order and my payment since 6 days ago and i still have to wait -according to the chap- for one or two more days to go throught that part of the process. At this point, it became obvious to me that, no matter how much I tried to convey my message, the associate did not give a dam of my concern. No sign of taking ownership of the problem, not a "I am sorry, sir, but I don't make the rules" or "I will try to speed up the process so you can get your PC asap". Nothing. Finally, I told him that I wished for them to confirm to me by tomorrow, that the Monty Phyton "payment validation" went through and would not accept further delays without a convincing argument or otherwise, I cancel my order. His response was that they are open tomorrow if I wish to call in. I'll let you all draw your own conclusions about this company

Like the title says - perfect process. I spent a ton of time and made my choices. I did use some generic parts but they let me pick where to spend and where to save. I never felt pushed in to a part that I didb't want and their computer handled all of the problems with compatability.

It took them a little bit of time to build the computer and they were upfront with that. They hit the mark with all of their guestimates.

The PC arrived. I was a little irritated that I had to install the GPU myself (once again, they told me it would arrive that way) but they did give detailed instructions to do it. The card is fragile and shouldn't be jostled while in place.

After the computer was set up, I benchnarked all of the components. All parts worked as they were supposed to. The OS was installed properly with almost no bloatware.

Durability. I guess ok but I have only had the computer 8 months. 8 don't know if it will last a decade but it performs as good in month 8 as it did on day 1.

Service. I just asked them about which parts would fit and be compatible (additional hard drive). They looked up the motherboard and my config and gave me accurate recommendations on a product that they don't sell. They already had my money, they didn't have to take the time to help, but they did.

Price, they were cheaper than most other computer builders. Yes they were more expensive than building it myself, but I wouldn't have bought from them if I had that skillset.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Next time I upgrade my setup, I'll check with them first!

To be all honest I agree don't buy Ibuypower had a pc for 2 months from them. The power supply already died, the RGB in the CPU cooler died, The RGB in the Case fans died. The fans are so loud that I can't hear myself think even with the software for the motherboard downloaded. The GPU had trouble posting aswell. I honestly wish I can get my money back.

The Customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with even worse then hp and dell.

Terrible support
September 8, 2023

Pray your computer doesn't break.

The initial experience was fine; the PC I purchased had great specs for a fair price. Shipping was prompt and everything was hunky dory for nearly one year.

One day, my computer wouldn't turn on. Tech support was mildly helpful, but the gist was, "You better be tech-savvy enough to fix it yourself; we'll ship you parts." Given the premium I paid for the computer, I was expecting something a little more white glove (ie: take it to a local repairer and bill us, or even better, send someone out).

Long story short, I was unable to fix it. They do offer shipping both ways if under full warranty, but the terms are a little scary (amounting to you, 'if it breaks further in any way while shipping, you are responsible'). I swallowed my misgivings and sent the PC in to be repaired.

I was excited when I received the e-mail that the computer made it to its destination. I was less excited when I received an odd e-mail that my computer was found to have insects inside of it, and due to their policy, they would have to ship it back to me unfixed.

Of course, when I asked for documentation or pictures of this insect infestation, they said something on the order of, "It must have been bad, so they didn't have time to take any pictures." Great.

A couple of weeks later, I received the PC, and indeed, there were a few bug carcasses inside (it left my home visibly clean). And of course, by then, the clock had run out on my full warranty.

I cleaned the computer, quarantined it for an extended period to be safe, and then cleaned it again. I contacted them again to inquire about shipping it back for repair. Turns out that since the computer was past the 1 year parts warranty, I would need to be pay for it to be shipped to/fro, on top of pay for any parts that were necessary. I was ok with the latter, less thrilled about the former, particularly given prior bad experiences.

So in sum, the computer was just fine - but you better hope it don't break!

My son purchased a computer from them with the largest graphic card recently, two weeks in and the computer started having an issue crashing immediately. My son is a content creator and it doesn't permit him to crash when it's hundreds / thousands of people watching the stream. We wrote in got a rma number and was told to send it in for a refund. We do that pay $200 out of pocket for shipping. We realize after 7 days no refund they say or the system stated you could have a refund but it wasn't finalized on our end so unfortunately we can only fix it and send it back... we will let the site administrator know if the inconvenience when we purchased another computer based on what we were emailed and told where to send the computer and everything. Complete crock of $#*!

This company wants to make everything as difficult as possible. This is the 2nd one I've had. First went out after 3 years. Current one I'm fighting with them on and these stupid RMA numbers, and least the 4th individual I talked to offered to make it the RMA for me. I don't deal with warranties hardly ever but this company is TERRIBLE. They crash early, and they don't stand behind their products, as I'm currently figuring out as my current computer I've had to jump through hoops. Ridiculous.

5000$ to get screwed over.
June 9, 2023

Over the years I've spent more than 10k with this company (3 computers) my recent purchase was over 5000$ I received the computer with a faulty gpu (msi liquid suprime 4090) I started the rma process, shipped the faulty gpu for a replacement. I sent the highest priced msi gpu to them and they sent me back the lowest priced msi gpu with absolutely no communication. So essentially stealing 300$ off my build after making me pay to ship the broken gpu. The icing on the cake is the new gpu doesn't fit the case I have. I called them in search of a resolution and they promptly transfer me to a survey. I'll never use this company again and won't be referring anyone to "ibuypower" in the future.

Computer stopped working 3 weeks after owning it, sent it back to be fixed. Returned to me with broken side glass panel and they kept my power cord. Month later i still dont have the power cord to use the system.
Everytime i chat with someone on the website they all claim to "push it" but thats been told to me 3 times obviously does nothing and they have no solution. Just look at my useless pc everyday. Will never spend a cent here again. Would return if i could.

Bought this ibuy power i7 ******* kf 16 gig ram with a 3080 and 1t m.2 drive computer from Bestbuy. I was honestly very excited to get it home and set my new purchase up. I haven't had a new computer in 11to 12 years. Anyways I proceeded to take side panels off checking build quality...looked good cables managed and everything was plugged in. Onward to performance, man this thing was fast. Now maybe 2 months down the road started have problems I figured it was the memory what they used was adata I personally never heard of this brand come to find out the nvme drive was also adata so now it's 5 months after purchase and the nvme drive dies that had the OS on it now I have no computer. I proceeded to call ibuy power and the hoops and 3 to 4 different codes numbers and crap they want off the computer is down right stupid now we are at 9 months after purchase and I am having problems with the aio cooler pump sometimes it comes on sometimes it doesn't. With that said I'm tired of typing so in conclusion I'm the one who ended up fixing the problems with my ibuy power now $2800 computer purchase price was $2099 oh one last thing while on the phone they did tell me they have switched away from adata and now use western digital. Wow what a POS
March 21, 2023

I ordered a custom computer and was told it would be 5-7 days till it shipped after day 3 they said they had all the parts collected and ready to go and then on day 6 I get an email saying they don't have the case (WTF you said you had all the parts pulled) so I responded in less then an hour and talked to someone and found out that I could get a different color from the same maker and it wouldn't slow the process or cost extra then 3 hrs later I get an email from someone else who says yes it will take 5-7 days longer... skip to 2 weeks later I get my computer carefully unbox it and set it up well the video card is dead I call again go through the trouble shooting that I had done already and yep the video card is dead so they say if I buy a new card they will send it to me (BS you are NOT getting more money from me) so we set the system to run on the onboard video and they will send me the RMA free shipping paperwork and in 30 min I get an email that I need to send it at my expense back (F*ck) so I wait 4 days and send it back but the computer is showing other problems ie: the power light started flickering then died the computer doesn't boot all the time then I get an email from FedEx a day later that I need to get it to them for the RMA well f*ck I sent it back USPS for $25 already and now I have a less the new computer and I'm still in the middle of all this BS

I gave 2 stars simply because the computer when not broke is a great build however the riser cable and graphics card were both broke in shipping, I had to over night parts back to them and was specifically told they would fedex express ship the new parts back to me and that was not the case. They sent them ups and took a week to recieve the new parts. The original shipping on the entire pc said 4 days it ended up being 4 weeks before receiving the pc. Just the fact that they lied about shipping originally and lied about shipping on the replacement parts is enough to make anyone mad.i will not buy anymore products from ibuypower again due to this issue you think if a customer sends something and pays 160$ for overnight the least they could do is speed up the process of getting replacement parts back.

Usually good, but thermal shutdowns on last system
February 11, 2023

I've bought a few systems from them over the years, and I've been generally happy. The builder doesn't listen to any special instructions, but the resulting systems have been fairly priced and put together.

I dual boot Windows (for games)/Linux (for anything else).

This last system I got is just crap. The Wife said I could have a new desktop, so I waited until the AMD 7950x and NVIDIA 4090 were available and ordered higher end PC. It spent 6 weeks in build -- probably because of the problems with the 4090 power connectors, which could be forgiven. However, the system I ended up with is not stable at all.

On any modern games, it lasts about 15 minutes before the fans start blowing full blast and the game just locks up. Windows still works, I can bring up the task manager and kill the game. No logs are generated, but I don't debug windows problems.

I would assume this is a problem with the NVIDIA card, but I have similar problems on Linux. If I do a kernel build with a "make -j", a couple of minutes into the build the fans blow and the system will power itself down. No kernel logs to say why. I can do a "make -j8", but that's as far as I've tested it.

I assume I'm getting thermal shutdowns on the CPU. I picked the recommended 360mm liquid cooling system. I'll pop the cooler and check the paste, but I don't have high hopes for fixing this thing.

Anyhow, $4K for a piece of crap. I'll muddle through for a year then try picking up something from redox or someplace else. My next system won't be from iBuypower.

Don't buy from them
December 31, 2022

So I bought from ibuypower on black Friday, spent a lot of money, waited 3 weeks... and it came Broken so I called them spent 2 and a half hours on hold to talk to them for them to say yeah its broken and then told me it be 3 to 6 more weeks for them to fix if I send it back. So I got a company near me to fix it and found out they didn't put anything together right... and somehow they said it passed the "QA CHECK". DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM. Go to someone else.
