I bought a top of the line i9 3080 32mb ram computer for my daughter that lasted 2 1/2 months of use before both the displays stopped working. The warranty states "three years labor and one year parts". However, they don't tell you the three years labor is YOU potentially doing all the labor as I had to call customer service, informed it's a 45+ min wait, get added to call back list, finally getting a return call 3 1/2 hours later and finding out I'm the LABOR portion of the warranty as I sat on a call with tech support getting walked through how to remove the tempered glass case panels, unscrewing and uninstalling the video card and using my phone to zoom in on the motherboard to take a picture so I could read the fine print next to lights to help tech support determine what could be the problem? That isn't even the worst part of the process. I was given two choices...1. I could uninstall the video card, package it, mail it back and wait 10-14 business days for them to get a new video card shipped back to me. (3-4 week turnaround?) or 2. If I wanted faster service I could buy a replacement video card for $850, wait for it to be shipped in 10-14 days, remove old video card, install new video card and then use packaging to return the old video card for a refund that I'm sure would take a few days more to process. At least with option (2) I can buy a replacement card and at least have it shipped out in 10-14 days instead of having to wait with option (1) for my old video card to get shipped back to iBuyPower, processed and new video card sent out 10-14 days after (hoping 2-3 week turnaround?). Once again, all this warranty "LABOR" is being done by me, not being paid, no compensation, no computer skill, just being walked through process on the phone with computer tech department. In the end, it looks like my daughters computer will be down 2-3 weeks waiting on processing and parts shipments.
NOTE #1 ~ Warranty ~ "During this period, iBUYPOWER will repair or replace defective parts with new or reconditioned parts at iBUYPOWER option, without charge to you". This warranty claim is false as technical support had me helping with troubleshooting and removing parts and if I wanted replacement parts shipped faster I had to buy them again and claim a refund after sending back defective parts.
NOTE #2 ~ Warranty ~ "All original parts replaced by iBUYPOWER or its authorized service centers, become the property of iBUYPOWER". I don't mind this claim except when I asked if it would be quicker if I took the computer to an "authorized" service center for repair I was told by tech support there aren't any?
Finally, the iBUYPOWER warranty states after 30 days the customer is responsible for shipping charges so it may be nice to have 3 year labor (that customer may have to do) and 1 year parts warranty but it will only take a couple of problems before customers realize they are shelling out good money on shipping charges to get their warrantied computer repaired.
The computer was AWESOME when it was working and even with the problem I'm having to deal with I would still have dropped them from 5 stars to 3 stars but the warranty process is a nightmare and be ready to shell out more money unless you want to wait close to a month with no computer so based on customer pain using warranty I dropped rating to 2 stars and it won't take much more to drop it to 1 star if I'm honest.
Warranty may state 3 years labor and 1 year parts but the labor, in my case, was me calling tech support and 4 hours later removing tempered glass panels, video card, taking photos of lights on motherboard and using an RMA to have new video card shipped that I'm going to have to replace myself, package old video card and ship it back. So be prepared because you may be the labor portion of warranty or after 30 days you will have to pay for all shipping there and back to get warranty work done.
Gaming RDY Y60BG202
I wanted to order a custom gaming PC as a Christmas gift. I was afraid that there would be complications or long shipping times so I wanted to order well in advance. I placed my order on Nov 18 and my order was set to ship for Dec 5. I thought that this was a long time in between but still plenty of time before Christmas. December 5th comes and goes and my order still hasn't shipped. I called them, waiting on hold for ages, and finally got someone who said that things were delayed but it should be within a week. A week comes and goes and still not shipped. I call again, wait on hold, and was assured that even though it has been delayed again, it will 100% be here by Christmas. I have been anxiously waiting for updated info and it finally shipped on Dec 21 and arrived today at 4pm, Dec 23... just BARELY in time. Today is Friday and they are closed for the weekend and the first part of next week. I was pleased and followed all the directions unboxing and setting up the computer but my monitor stayed black. I tried switching cables, switching monitors, everything and it still wouldn't display. I am panicking and I called the IBUYPOWER tech support number and the recording tells me its a 90 minute wait, they would already be closed by the time it was my turn if they weren't on pacific time! After I wait just under and hour and a half I get a grumpy tech support guy that DOES NOT like it when he is interrupted... After a lot of trial and error, removing the graphics card myself (as a total layperson), and me emailing him a few pictures it turns out that an attachment part of the case that the graphics card plugs into is broken and the card can communicate with the mother board. He says I can repack and ship the whole thing back which will take a long time or he can order a new one that will get shipped out by the end of next week and give me 2 day shipping and it be here within 2 weeks. He cant rush it, he can't overnight it, nothing. I am so annoyed at this point I ask for a supervisor (I swear I am not a karen).
The supervisor is the absolute worst. He was rude and clearly annoyed with me for being unsatisfied even though I was being polite. He actually says the part wont be able to be shipped for almost THREE WEEKS due to backup and some kind of audit they are doing after Jan 1st and he will give me THREE DAY shipping. That is a LONGER wait time and WORSE shipping than the previous person even told me! He tells me the other guy didn't know what he was talking about and implied I should be glad he was being upfront about it. I asked if he could give me a discount or anything to make this experience not so horrible and he said that 3 days shipping (after waiting 3 weeks in their facility) would already be a rush and it cost them a lot of money. He refused to offer any discounts or free items or anything. He just asked if I would like to return it for a refund.
After almost 3 hours on the phone, I am flabbergasted. I spend 3k and they act like they did me a favor to take my money. In the end this pc will take 2.5-3 months to arrive fully and I will be forced to install the parts myself (which I am not really comfortable doing) if I don't want to wait even longer! The person who was waiting anxiously for Christmas for this new PC... now they get nothing. I understand that things happen and I wouldn't be writing this review if the people at this company had been less rude, more apologetic, and tried to make this right.
Stay away from IBUYPOWER.
I ordered a custom build three weeks ago. I can't tell you how excited I was for my dream PC to show up. I even paid for 3-day shipping. Completed my build and got my ETA: 2 week build time then shipping. Everything looked like it was running smoothly as I got the status updates from the warehouse. Sure enough, 2 weeks later and they shipped it! Here's where it starts. I didn't get the PC for a week. When I finally got it I hooked it all up, super excited to finally start gaming again as my last PC died on me after being 10 years old. Power it up…. It's the Matrix. Green lines all over my screen and I knew something was up. I did some research and learned it was most likely a faulty graphics card, but it could be as simple as a bad HDMI cable. So I power down, swap the cables out for new ones, boot it back up and same thing. Green lines glitching like the Matrix. I tried talking with their Tech Support which is basically a chat room conversation and they tell me to reseat the GPU. Reluctantly I did, after watching some videos and being as careful as I could. Hoping it works now I plug the power cable back in and boot it up. This time there's no picture at all. I asked the Tech Support to call me to which they replied "Sorry, we cannot call you. Please call customer service at ————-." Not happy with that, I called the number and was on hold for 45 minutes. They said they could send me a new GPU AFTER they received the broken one in the mail, and if I wanted them to ship a new one at the same time that I sent the broken one back, that I would be charged for it. I have to ship the whole PC back and wait for it to get to them, then I have to wait for them to repair it, then I have to wait for it to be shipped back to me. Another estimated 3 weeks. I asked if I could get a discount on the computer for having to go through all this and I was declined that service. I will receive $50 for being given a broken GPU and a refund for the 3-day shipping. But nothing for being sent a broken computer and having to wait another 3-4 weeks for the same computer to be delivered back to me (hopefully usable) which should've been delivered a few days ago. A good company would've shipped me a whole new build exactly how I ordered it. Rush Serviced! And just let me ship the broken one back. I still haven't got the Shipping Order they said they would send me to send the broken one back. Get it together guys, UNACCEPTABLE!
So family had ordered from IBuyPower before without any sort of problem. Parts have been and continue to be scarce through covid so I figured, why not buy a custom build from them? Bad idea. I had a weird feeling that I should purchase the return shipping warranty upgrade in case of a DOA situation and it seemed that was the right decision.
I ordered around Christmas and took a deferred order discount, pushing my shipping date back some. That's fine, I don't mind waiting a bit more. On top of that I figured that the extra time would mean they wouldn't have to rush my order so much with everything else going on and it was more likely to turn out well.
It took around 2 months to finally get to me. A bit long, but I figure whatever, as long as it's here. It was packed into the tower box with the original styrofoam and then packed in another larger box, which while packed with a bit of foam, left a lot of room for the tower box to bounce around. Okay, whatever. I open both boxes and pull the pc out. I then go ahead and take the side panel off and pull the foam inside out... at which point I realize the pc was just FUBAR.
As you can see in the pictures, the RAM was flat out ejected from the sockets with one piece rattling around and one stuck in a random alcove of the tower. The RAM clips were flat out broken, also rattling around inside the case. The poor 3080 was sagging UP. Taking it out revealed the PCI slot was warped, though oddly mainly on the outside of it. Not pictured is the back with the motherboard being misaligned with the IO shield.
I'm not an expert on shipping, but some of this really doesn't seem like shipping damage to me, though surely I can concede some things might have happened during shipping. But neither box was damage to any degree, nor was the Tower exterior itself, aside from some odd, long scratches on the clear side panel that made it appear as if it was from a used system.
That's bad enough, but I have shipping damage protection, right? Should be able to get it resolved quickly, surely. Well, I try calling. Multiple times over the course of a few days. I keep getting a "line busy" tone. Extremely odd for customer service. I reach out over Twitter and a rep tells me to contact them over discord. Okay... a bit odd, but I'll do it. There's surprisingly few people willing to talk directly about it.
As pictured, I do eventually get someone who tells me... to continue calling. "eventually you will get queued". Excuse me? You're not exactly a no name company. And you're telling me you can't manage a proper customer service queue system? I did eventually get queued after numerous call attempts and after something like 2-2 and a half hours get to talk to a person, despite the "relatively short" queue the staff member claimed it would be. I've always waited much less when I've called the DMV in multiple states and I think that speaks to the quality they're offering. It's here I should mention I paid over $2000 for this system yet this is the level of customer service I'm being put through. God help you if you're not a particularly savvy person with such things.
After a talk, they eventually set up an RMA for me and provide me a shipping pickup to send the system back. Though it feels silly to do for a prebuilt system, I request the GPU and RAM shipped outside of the case. The representative questioned my request, but I was rather obstinate given the mention of the possibility by a previous staff member and my previous experience. After some weeks, they mention the system is ready to give back and after some more weeks, I finally receive it. The case panel I mentioned before was even more roughed up than before with a new very large scratch on it, but at this point, I wasn't going to deal with more hassle, especially since the system at least worked after I placed the parts in.
TLDR, I would really say they did the bare minimum here and I'm very glad the return was entirely on their dime in the end, wasted time not withstanding. But the initial damage was incredibly offputting to the point where I don't think I can consider it all shipping damage. The customer support was perhaps the worst I've experienced with trying to get in contact with them. The fact that they had no consistently reachable phone number without around 20 straight calls was abhorrent. Then routing me through Discord only to tell me to "call a bunch of times" really pushed it over the edge for me. I do not recommend IBuyPower whatsoever.
If you're thinking of using this site, don't. Just don't. Find another seller. There's so many other pc building services and prebuilt sellers. Find one that will do due diligence and not screw up the product. It might work out, it might not. If it doesn't, have fun trying to get in contact with customer service and pray they do a better job the next time. You'll likely be waiting a while regardless if you do choose them.
Desktop PC
I purchased a brand new machine from ibuypower.com and actually it was the last thing my brother purchased for me but he has since passed and I'm not really sure as to why I wasn't helped because it was my credit card that paid for the unit but was shipped to his house out of state which shouldn't even matter! But after only 2 months of operation and I mean light operation like 4 hrs total, the computer started blue screaning and shutting down. I contacted ibuypower and asked if I could be sent the intel version of their cooler bracket so I could change the motherboard and test my ram and drives power supply. Etc this is the only way I could test these things due to this system being the only and last amd system I will ever own! I was giving the run around in customer service for 2 weeks getting bombarded with questions why the address I give is different from the delivery and wanted me to give a discription of the unit and then after all this I was not approved one bracket! Not to mention the full warranty that they would no longer honor or stand behind! I would have taken a part at a time in the mail til we figured out what makes it work again because it bootloops and I can't even get to the bios. It cuts off to fast. I've tried a new hard drive with windows preloaded, no dice, I've tried ram, and both monitor ports with zero luck. My advice on ibuypower is no... RUN! (Update) I took the system to a local pc shop and they say that my brand new 3080 graphics cars has missing pieces inside and must be disassembled to be repaired and at that point would void any warranty so we choose for the moment to hold off on this card until we can figure out exactly what happens because where this board was damaged was under the thermal pads? Or something like that and was also missing a transistor! The guy that runs the pc shop said that it couldn't have been done by me because it has to be taken way to far apart just to see the part in question but he showed me the dark spots on the brand new video card! What made me the most unhappy is they wouldn't even help me on the phone but just kept transferring me around until I either got hung up on or til it was quitting time! Zero help and after a month of emailing I finally got a email back asking me a hundred questions about me and basically at the end said they couldn't help me because they couldn't prove that the computer had the same hardware it left with? And every component has a freaking ref part number from ibuypower all over this things internal parts! I still have another 6 months of warranty but I don't expect much to happen but my email is *******@hotmail.com if you would like to try and help a brother in need but I can't honestly say I'll buy another pc from these people because it's been a total nightmare! And when the pc was running you couldn't breathe on it or it would lock up, an intel system to me was way superior in my past experience. This was my first and probably my last amd pc.
Check your reviews carefully before you just slide your money across the table to whoever because once ibuypower has your money you mean nothing to them
Prebuilt personal computer that would not compute a thing!
After many years of buying standardized offerings, I finally went all-in and ordered a "dream machine" from iBuyPower. I had purchased standard configured PCs in the past, so I wasn't making a huge purchase from a company with no track record.
I ordered the computer the on December 1,2020. With COVID and the holidays, I had no expectation of receiving it anytime soon. However, It actually took until January 21,2021 before I got the first status update of "gathering components." So, almost two months radio silence. I actually pinged them to make sure the order had not dropped off the radar. I received my box approximately Feb 2. Again, no big deal.
Unboxing the beast was exciting. I was a bit perturbed that the MEK3 keyboard didnt work. It had to be send back and replaced. Considering they made me pay for the shipping, it probably wasnt worth the exchange.
Not long after getting things running, I was playing Call of Duty Warzone and the computer just shut off in the middle of playing. I rebooted it and it failed to boot 3 or 4 times before coming back to life. Scary. I couldnt believe Call of Duty bricked my computer. Fortunately, after a few attempts, the computer rebooted. So for the next few weeks I avoided the issue and didnt play call of duty. I honestly thought the issue was with the game. Normal daily usage of the computer was fine. Then a few weeks later I tried again with Warzone and the same result. Screen goes black and the computer shuts down. I spent the weekend trying to figure it out and eventually determined it must be the computer. Maybe tech support could help me figure it out.
Well good luck with anyone trying to get hold of tech support. If you can even get the phone system to pick up, I spent 2.5 hrs on hold. When I did get hold of someone, they suggested almost right away it was probably a motherboard issue and asked me if I would be comfortable replacing it myself. How could they have diagnosed it that fast? Let me guess - not the first time hearing about this issue.
So no, I am not comfortable with that. The support tech was perfectly nice by the way, so no ill will towards him. We were unable to come up with a course of action, so I was supposedly being escalated to a supervisor. After being put on hold again for a half hour I got another first level technician who told me they were not the supervisor. They would transfer me again. I was transferred to another number that just rang, and rang, and rang for a half hour before I gave up. Understand I was mostly on hold for a over 3 hrs, so I gave it a shot. I suspect that "supervisor" is code for an empty room with a phone that just rings until you give up.
computer
Ordered 9/22/17. Two different computers. One was built, sent, and arrived on 10/2/17. We paid extra for 2 day shipping and rush order on both, they sent it via Fedex Standard (who kept it overnight on Monday, because can't deliver more than 18 hours earlier than estimated delivery). Total delivery time took over 4 business days, due to the shipping method they chose (totally not what I paid for!).
Second computer (mine), missing. Called on 10/2/17 to ask about it's location and what was going on with it. They claim it is being mailed out soon, and they don't offer nonstop updates on numerous computers in one order. Okay fine. Tells me I will get an email about when it will be shipped. Should be shipped by today (10/5/17). No email, so give them a call.
Am told that the order was lost. It is currently (after 13 days from order, and 9 business days) in "building". That they lost the computer twice. Lost the order, and then lost the actual computer itself but "inventory" found it. Will not be shipped until maybe next Monday (10/9/17). Supposedly 2 day shipping (I doubt they will send it that way, and it will take 4 days to arrive like the last one).
So, they lost my computer not once but twice and I paid for a computer that I still don't have. It will be a total of 15 business days (over 21 days) before I might have the computer in my hands.
PS. The representatives I spoke with have lied to me (first guy didn't even tell me it was lost and lied about shipping times), and talked down to me nonstop (second guy was not a joy). The final representative I spoke with tried to somehow pin the blame on me (not sure what his goal was there? I didn't change my order or even order anything fancy). He had a huge attitude, and I spoke with a supervisor (after having to be "that caller" and demanding one numerous times). Supervisor said nothing differently, and did not even receive an apology. Like what.
TL; DR - This company sucks $#*!. Should have built it myself.
Called back and asked to speak to a supervisor, as nothing was accomplished. Third representative was just as short and rude as the second. Have been waiting on hold for a supervisor for over 55 minutes now.
Nothing has been accomplished and I am still sitting here wondering how the $#*! this company is still in business.
Update 2: Waited on hold for a supervisor for over an hour. Called back AGAIN (4th time today), and am currently waiting for a supervisor again. So far wait time is: 15 minutes.
Update 3: Spoke with the 2nd supervisor after a 22 minute wait time. This guy claimed they still had 1 more day (they do) to ship out my computer before being in breach of the contract. This is true, I asked him realistically how possible that was. He agreed was not possible.
So, the wait time for the computer is still the same and was offered zero apologies. I am paying for a computer that will take almost a month to get here. I got the added bonus that "women should not be in the computer field" comments. I made my husband handle the call from there, while I lost my $#*! in another room (that's completely disrespectful, I am a network engineer).
So, nothing has been changed. No apologies, and bonus insults. We were not offered a discount (as some others PMed me about asking for). We were basically told "suck it up buttercup".
We will never order from them again, and will build our computers from scratch instead.
Every company has its ups and downs hopefully after reading this they will go up We're giving them a 4 star rating for change and hopefully better quality builds and less failures out to the customers
We were lucky and we're still within the 30 day moneyback guarantee as it continued to crash watching videos Netflix YouTube Hulu the monsters TV show, The computer just kept crashing black screen etc
Issue number 1, When the computer arrived the LED lights had fallen out and we're laying inside the case. We took pictures of problems as well as other parts fell out.
Issue number 2, The computer crashes goes to black screen and makes a loud noise and other times it just goes to a black screen must restart the whole computer. We were watching the rock San Andreas just a movie on Netflix and The computer crashed black screen loud noise. We took videos of the above issue #2, The video Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB with G-Syn
Issue number 3, when buying a computer using PayPal from Ibuypower you must put in your name and Social Security number the way that they collect the information through PayPal check out only shows up on PayPal credit even if you have your PayPal account linked PayPal credit has been aware of this now and it is under investigation to change it. Currently when you buy a computer you cannot do a resolution through PayPal and PayPal credit will not link or show on the PayPal site. PayPal credit is trying to work on this and correct this issue.
Issue # 4, they have an ( F) very poor failure, F rating for the Better Business Bureau, here is the link you can see it yourself,

We did a lot of reviewing and through the reviews many people have spoken about Robert and had good things to say about him so we used Robert Chen and he was helpful.
We did try the online chat it took a little bit and the representative who answered the online chat session was Robert Chen. They do have a company picture of their employees on their website in the about them section. Hopefully will never have to use support but at this time we are currently unable to give you a solid review on the support because we have not used it yet.
After buying our computer, We received an email auto generated letting us know that Mike would be our main point of contact to the sale. We did called Mike and spoke on the phone we also called Robert and spoke on the phone. We did send both Mike and Robert emails but only heard back from Robert. We're not saying anything bad about mike, we just read a lot of reviews about Robert and people seem to favor him so we used Robert.
Any questions or information we called Robert and he answered his phone and email, Robert preferred to talk over the phone to answer any questions or problems we may have.
The computer was packed well and they put foam inside the computer case which was very nice because we did not purchase that option which was an option on the website the foam in the case should be a standard not an option when shipping out.
Our buying experience we had, This is based on our personal experiences Buying computers through Ibuypower.com
We hope this helps others when buying a computer
I must say I was originally very open-minded about ordering my laptop from iBuypower. I made my order on December 4th, 2015 in time for their black friday deals. Of course the reason I bought my computer in the first place during this time was so that I could receive it before Christmas as it was a gift. While I commend their initial efforts to satisfy the consumer with a user-friendly interface on their website and the multitude of added bonuses in purchasing from them, I was very disatisfied with the ultimate shipping date of the laptop I designed which was on 12/29/15; this date was well after the standard free shipping I was lead to expect (14 days) and even the "free upgraded overnight" shipping I was later promised as recompense. Being a repeat customer of a company such as iBuypower who specializes in custom built computers, I knew the risk I was running but it was the constant shortcomings and false promises that really set me up for disappointment.
On the other hand, the associate assigned to me, Steven Wong, was a pleasure to work with. He was always professional and timely in getting back to me and never made my needs as a customer feel like they were unimportant. He tried his best to apologize for the current circumstances and make ammends for iBuypower's failure to meet my expectations. He even went out of his way to get me missing items from my order after I had already received the computer. Anyone would be lucky to be assigned an associate as dedicated and hard-working as Steven.
I realized that there would be an increased volume of sales during black friday and cyber monday and that the upcoming holiday season can make for an overwhelming workload for any retailer. This said, it still does not excuse iBuypower's deficiency in assembling and shipping their product in a timely manner and in accordance to their own advertised wait time. Anticipating the delay, I was prudent enough to order my laptop well before Christmas and I was still let down.
The biggest flaw of iBuypower aside from their slow rate of production/shipping was making false guarrantees that they could not deliver on and building further expectations with apologies and shallow promises in order to subdue my complaints and discontent.
Their product however, was up to par with what I was hoping for and even exceeded my expectations. All in all, I would still recommend iBuypower as a computer building company for their excellent customer service and the final product. My only advice to newcomers to iBuypower is this: be prepared to wait for several weeks or longer to receive your product even if your shipping time is "standard" or "expedited". Also be sure to scrutinize what you will actually be receiving with your build. Do not expect to receive all the advertised "freebies" on their website automatically as many are specific to only certain models and are highly dependent on a limited supply. If it was not "officially" listed in the configuration you set up before ordering, then expect that said items will NOT ship with your order and be prepared to jump through hoops trying to procure promised games, bundles, and accessories. If you are a patient person and you have a reliable sales associate, I have no doubt that you will be happy you went with iBuypower.
