My old Hoveround power wheelchair was old and breaking down too often. I qualified for a new chair. The customer service handled getting me an appointment with my doctor, the paperwork and Medicare. When the chair was delivered, the technician adjusted the new chair and even showed me how to use the new attachable wheelchair legs so I can raise my feet. The only thing was all the paperwork my Doctor had to fill out I felt bad for his administration team.
I know Hoveround is the best there is. However I never heard back from them after the initial promising start. They said they would get back to me after they contacted my doctor. I have never heard back
I was contacted after returning the form I received in the mail. The team set up a doctor's appointment for clearance for me and then set up a delivery date. The scooter was delivered, set up and explained very well and on time. I am well satisfied with the experience so far.
On Friday, Jan 31st, my chair was stolen. I was/ am devastated. It's my freedom. I called police to get a case #, spoke to a lovely lady who took me thru the process, and made a Dr. appt for Monday. I told your rep it's imperative my new chair has a lock and key so if I have to go to a scooter that's ok. I had that chair for 7 years and some awful person took it.
I have been trying to get a replacement Hoveround with a recliner seat from this company for 7 months now. After at least 25 phone calls within this time, I am told they are finally ready to ship and told me how much we have to pay out of pocket which we agreed to. Now I find out after all this that the seat they ordered does not have a reclining back which is what my dad needs, so we have to go back to square 1. The company is great about just transferring you to another department or leaving you on hold or cutting you off. Their IVR always says they have extreme call volume so to call back later in the week, even if you call on a Friday. I would say look anywhere else, but not with this company to get a chair.
The electric wheelchair arrived well before it was expected and Phong was a joy to work with from the measurements to the delivery. I am so happy to have more ability to get around. Thank you Hoveround.
I read some kind of a thing from Hoveround saying Paul we care about you and we care about our customers and they have not done one thing to take care of my chair. I have bad wheels they were telling me they were going to fix that and it was gonna cost me $29 now it's 300 some they're wanting to charge For batteries and the tires that I need for my chair. The batteries went bad in my chair like dead won't take a charge. I had to go buy batteries myself from my from my wheelchair. I'm never ever ever gonna buy anything else from Hoverround and I'm gonna tell all of my friends and everybody I know, don't mess with Hoverround. It's not there they don't take care of you. They don't take care of their business like they say they do.
I will never ever purchase another Hoveround chair. I had problems with my chair from the very beginning. Begin having them take notes then I had a major problem. It wouldn't run more than 15 minutes 20 minutes and then needed charged again. Oh they're gonna take care of it they said well they let the first of the year Come and go and now I have to pay for all the parts and the service. Well that's bull crap I'm never ever ever own another one of these hovercrafts and I won't let anybody in my friends know about them either in fact on Facebook if you want to come see you even more scathing review, Paul Derry
My review isn't about Hoveround, but about this site. Thank you so much, I'm so glad I found this before embarking on my quest to find a chair for my mother-in-law. I had seen all the commercials on TV and Hoveround was what I was planning to look into. That WILL NOT be the case now. I will look elsewhere.
Immediate initial contact phone call to gather information and set up mobility appointment with doctor.
After that no communication at all.
No updates on progress
No responce to messages on hoverround account.
Seem to be at a standstill waiting for nothing.
Mr. Floyd who did my initial appt, and ultimately delivered my chair; gave us above excellent customer service. He was polite and answered our questions precisely and gave us easy to understand instructions for using the chair.
The chair was well made and easy to use. Also it is very comfortable.
I have been dealing with Hoveround for over a year and still no power wheelchair has been delivered. I have done everything they have asked me to. Mobility exam from my PCP was completed on 3/29/2023. PCP determined at that time that " I was unable to move about independently without a power mobility device. He is paralyzed from the waist down." Insurance info for Medicare and United Heralthcare shows approval on June 23,2023. The latest phone call on 3/25/2024, I was told we needed to schedule a mobility exam. I am currenty using a power loaner wheelchair which I have to return this summer.
The Hoveround rep delivered the chair on time and was very helpful in showing me things about the chair. This is the second Hoveround my husband has used and I found out some adjustments I didn't know I could make.
Very professional staff and the customer service was great. They even followed up and helped set up an appt with our doctor. They were very helpful and we are looking forward to getting a Hoveround to add quality to our lives.

Beware of Hoveround! Ordered my power wheelchair 3 months ago. Yes I had some customizing to my wheelchair, but it shouldn't take longer than 3 months. Called today and they said they are still waiting on part. I would think if your clients can't provide parts find another company. I have canceling order and gone through another company that can provide a chair with the custom items I have requested in a matter of days!

I will have new freedom --when i learn to use this touchy little joy stick. Wish I had the steering capacity of a fullsize scooter but that would be too big for the elevator. The guide book is so well written so complete. I had never thought of how i would get out of this building inaan emergency til the tip in there. Or other safety things. ThANKS Hoverrround.
I only talked with the company one time. They asked and answered all questions. Guided me to my next steps. If all goes according to plan I will be hoveround town very soon.

Unable to get one because I needed it for out of home use as Medicare wouldn't pay for it. Sine I have a hard getting up from a sitting position the hoveround would be very helpful in my home as I could sit in it and not have to get up to go elsewhere in my home.
My Hoveround started acting the first day I got it. And when you call for a repair man. You never get one. I had to get set of battery s 3 times in a year. And had to replace the wheels 2 times with in a year. And you had to change the wheels your self the repairman are not responsible for changing tires or batterys so I had to pay someone to do those things. And had to replace joy stick controller and this was in the 1st year. And when you call to get parts they treat you like you don't know what you are talking about. For every parts you need they got to get the doctor approval. And that takes a week to get the paper work. And you can't do anything because your stranded at home because your waiting on parts.
My attendent was very polite he explained very thoroughly on every detail on my hover round he checked all the points of the house and really gave it a work over would referr him to do my order any time

The first hoveround I got was a simple wonderful experience. Since my chair burned up in a housefire where I lost EVERYTHING and no insurance I never contacted them about a new chair but they contacted me. They wanted a down payment which being on a limited budget, I could not afford and told them so. Each time I continue to ask them why they kept contacting me. Well once again they have contacted me so we shall see!
Answer: So sorry to hear that. I am no longer living with my father-in-law, but I can add to my earlier review and comments. The company did exactly the same thing to him, again. A year later. They got in touch to say that Medicare had accepted their appeal and that the chair was now finally his, and they sent a guy round with the paperwork for signature and everything looked great. It subsequently turned out that Medicare hadn't approved anything and didn't know anything at all about the appeal, and that they were not going to pay. The story that Hoveround gave me was smoke and mirrors and back came the bill for the chair again. As far as I know, a year and a half on, the chair is still not officially his. I probably won't hear anything more about it now, but I'm quite glad I don't have to deal with these people yet again.

Answer: Yes, if doctor can prove medically necessary. Doctor must make file notes to support and you must have an office visit that only addresses the need for your chair.
