The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Keep it simple home repairs did a great job on repairing my roof. They were quick to respond and would call them again. Thank you
They pirate all your existing web traffic and destroy your current online presence.
I don t know how they are getting bye with this it is criminal. This is my second review of this sham company. We are now currently having to redo our entire online seo campaign at substantial cost to us so we can get listed again, our website company told me they have well over ******* complaints against them,
I used them for a while but they changed a few things that were not cost affective for me. Told them that when I am ready I will be glad to call back. Since then, all I get is constant harassing calls from multiple reps with me telling them time over time to put me on the no call list. They continued to call and so here we are writing this review. I have recorded them over and over and have passed it on to my attorney where Im planning legal action. I understand that they wanna make a sale - I get that but to constantly call on a daily basis is pure harassment. Besides there are better places to market than Home Advisor--NEVER AGAIN, THE ABSOLUTE WORST!
This company reached out to me promising they had so much work. The way the system works was not explained properly. Before you know it, I have racked up almost 500 in leads that I never contacted or requested. I requested for my leads to be turned off for 30 days, then they were turned back on somehow. The company refused to refund my money or cancel my subscription. I had to cancel my debit card and report them as fraud to my bank in order for them to stop taking my money.
At the end of the day, this company is a scam. They are looking to take your money with no intentions of making sure you are getting credible leads. Their customer service is horrible and this is overall a terrible company.
I would NOT advise that anyone join this company. It's not worth the money or the headache.
I was with Home Advisor for 3 weeks and was billed for three leads ($455) which I never answered. They said the charges were irreversible so I canceled my account. They had the nerve to send me one of the leads after my account was canceled. I had the credit card charges reversed and now they are threatening me with a collection agency. I wish I would have seen these reviews before signing up. Anyone for a class action lawsuit?
We were one of the unlucky businesses to get suckered into a relationship with HomeAdvisor... HUGE MISTAKE. From day one the "leads they sent had nothing to do with the service we provide. We were calling and pausing our account every few days so that they could "review" the leads and correct them. After a month of going back and forth we finally got a hold of a supervisor who apologized for "all the inconvenience" and said we would be issued a full refund since they don't even have a category for the service we provide and that not only should we never have been signed up, we should never have been reassigned so many categories that had nothing to do with our service. Almost three weeks later and not a word and no refund. Today I call to see what the hold up is, only to be told that the request is "under review" and that it takes 7-14 day for the review process. When I remind them that it has been nearly three weeks I am told that weekends don't count and I should hear the results of the review via email within a few more days... then, IF APPROVED I should see a refund within 7- 14 days. SERIOUSLY? DO NOT USE HOMEADVISOR! The service may be a good one, but the company has terrible customer service practices and a policy of misrepresenting services.
Have been trying to end my subscription to Home Advisor have sent them an email back in February informing them I no longer want their service. Told them not to call me that everything must be done through emails. Had several calls, finally got an email from one of the customer care representatives telling me if I didn't cancel my subscription that they would send me 3 free leads. What a joke. Today I tried to email customer service again to see if my membership had been canceled. I received a response back that customer service no longer response to emails and that my email would not be read. If I had a issue I would have to talk to someone. So what now they don't do emails, sounds to me they don't want to have a paper trail.
If you do a web search for class action suits against home advisor you will find a law firm called Chimicles & Tikelis, they have collected information from over 760 contractors about the practices of home Advisor you can add your remarks and experience
This is how HomeAdvisor works. They want a yearly fee around 300. Then they send you leads that your automatically charged for. They send one lead to 3-4 different companies so your not the only one being charged. Out of 11 leads 3 of them were good ( got the job) the others didn't answer their phone, didn't go through, only wanted a bid, did it themselves. I asked for a refund because they were bad leads. Got one or two refunded, but the others they just said sorry for the problem, but still charged me. Pretty much a scam. Also don't even get me started with how many scam calls and text I get. It's ridiculous and unprofessional. I am a painter and window cleaner and some of the leads I get charged for are clients just wanting estimates. So I get charged to drive out to a clients house, give them a bid and end up not getting the job because they were wanting to see how much it is. Not okay.
Also I don't know who makes the decisions on how much a lead is, but it needs to be changed. I got a lead that cost 64 dollars in window cleaning and arrived at the house only to make 36 dollars. Wasting time and money. I'm done with HomeAdvisor.
They gave incorrect leads, without any screening, All they did is charge for bogus leads.
The worst Company I have ever dealt with. Stay away from them at all costs.
Frank Brock *******679 called our commercial carpet/floor waxing business claiming he had 12 jobs in our area. Took our $287 membership fee, sent us a lead (which they charge for) for a 3 story WINDOW cleaning job. Corp office refuses to refund the money, they will not take our homeadvisor webpage down and have sold our phone and email to scammers. I got a group text from scammer including 18 other recipients who stated they also have been scammed by home advisor and cannot stop the spam and scammers.
I was told by Home Advisor that they would advertise my company under Water purification specialist, Under TDLR and TCEQ rules I'm qualified with my Water well driller and Pump Installer License in the state of Texas. However Home Advisor told me it would take a different license and that they can not and will not advertise as promised as they follow protocol unknown to regulations. However they insist that I pay a years worth of advertising and Leads that don't have anything to do with my Job description or Business. I have submitted all necessary paperwork to prove my Qualification to no avail with Home Advisor. DO NOT Advertise with this company as it will only cost you dearly and the leads do not work nor the advertisement. Now they sent me notices for collection although they have not produced anything but empty promises.
They don't screen home owners putting leads through. Contractors get charged even when home owner puts request under wrong task. Horrible customer service inexperienced in the construction field. Home owners don't return calls on a majority of the leads received by the contractors. A contractor will work at a defecit trying to get customers through home advisor
9 out of 10 leads received will not return calls. $500 a week spent for 0% return on investment.
Absolutely the worst way to grow your business. Stay away if you're a contractor, painter, carpenter, home remodeler.
If you're a Home owner, word of mouth and social media local pages are a great way to find that qualified expert.
Good luck everyone.
Fyi= this program is bad for everyone. You will never get a great company to come and work on your home as a home owner... GOOD CONTRACTORS DONT NEED this program nor do they want to be accociated. SO TAKE THAT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT. AS A HOME OWNER WHAT YOU WILL GET IS A BUNCH OF FIRST YEAR AND SECOND YEAR CONTRACTORS. No offense i was one until i decided the juice was not worth the squeeze. Being associated with them is like being a accomplice to murder. Ps sorry for spelling and caps i dont have time to change nor patients

I used Homeadvisor to look for contractors in Northwest Indiana to do some work at my house. I wanted an awning on the rear, some trees cut down, a generator, an addition and some cement work. Three tree guys contacted me, only one actually showed up in person to give a quote. He did a great job, the other two wouldn't return emails. Only one cement guy responded and he had horrible reviews. The awning company was horrible, left debris all over my yard, took several weeks to finish a job they said would be done in two days. The awning leaks and they didn't run it to the end of the house. Never got any responses for the addition. Two generator companies responded, only one showed up to give a quote. This company also said they did electrical work, when I contacted them to get a quote for electrical work, they never responded. A better name would be Home Illadvisor. I contacted homeadvisor about the reviews given to the companies that did bad work, they said they would investigate it and get back to me. They never did.
After reaching out to Home Advisor to check their prices we have been constantly harassed non stop every single week by a horrible agent! I have told him repeatedly we are not interested and to take us off the call list and today he did the same thing and he refused to stop asking why so I told him it was because he was a horrible agent with a bad attitude. He then started laughing and saying "Why? I just asked a question" so I told him I wanted to speak with a manager. He then started laughing again saying "whatever, you can totally talk to my manager but why?" so I told him because he has one of the worst f***ing attitudes of anybody I have ever talked to so I need to talk to a manager now. He once again laughed and said "what is the magic word". I admittedly blew up on him only to his enjoyment making him laugh saying that wasn't the right word and hung up and called corporate.
I needed a new roof for my home.
Was recommended to Alluring Homes Inc.
These guys were the most professional I have ever used for any repairs.
Very honest. The crew was so hard working.
So Impressed. If I could give a 10 star rating, I would.
I own a general contracting business and have been in business for 12 years. Like any contractor we have some slow times through the year, so I decided to try home advisor. As this site may been convenient for customers looking for a contractor it is a nightmare and a scam for a contractor! First off contractors are not really screened as advertised, pretty sure they would take any contractors money, seams they really enjoy doing this. Second as it is free for the looker, every click they make a contractor is charged, and it is very difficult to get a refund on these. Also they never refund money they only give the contractor credits towards more clicks. In one week my company was charged $700 and I DID NOT get a single meeting from all of this money. PLEASE STOP USING THIS WEB SITE! If you need a quality contractor please just ask friends and family for recommendations and avoid this site.
We visited HomeAdvisor to find a reputable home cleaner. We found two, interviewed them, had them walk our house and each provide quotes. We went with the one that seemed more detail oriented (despite being higher priced) - we relied on the HomeAdvisor rating in selecting the two. We then scheduled the cleaner. The cleaner exceeded their time to clean by 3 times and still did not finish - instead they insisted on cash payment including reimbursement for their HomeAdvisor listing fee. They said they needed the payment because of one of their crew was leaving. We went upstairs, came down and they were gone. They literally sneaked out of our house. We contacted them to finish the third of the house they didn't finish and it was excuse after excuse after excuse. Shady, unprofessional is what HomeAdvisor delivered to us. We went to HomeAdvisor - after all, they stand behind who they recommend right? No way. They said they accept no responsibility and play no role in taking any recourse against any cleaner. So HomeAdvisor, Why should anyone use your misrepresented services? You may as well have a monkey through a dart at a list. HomeAdvisor is worse than useless as you rely upon them adding some value and they do not.
Home Advisor is a scam company. They advertise that they screen all contractors. They refered, Robert Giles, with North Texas Building and Remodeling Co. To us. After we were scammed out of $10.000 for the materials & Labor to rebuild our deck I called Home Advisor to file a complaint. They said that they would make a report and call me back. I did not hear back from them and I had to call them back 3 more times... each time they said that they were looking into it. The last time I talked to them they said North Texas Building and Remodeling was no longer in there system and there was nothing they could do! What a Joke!
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
