The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

They made me give up all my contact information and agree to get marketed to just to find out that they had no one to help me in my area. Now they will take my contact info And sell it and make money even though they offered no value to me what so ever. THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH OPERATION STAY AWAY!
HomeAdvisor employees are writing fake reviews. Any positive reviews HomeAdvisor has on Google or on ConsumerAffairs are fake. In fact, HomeAdvisor is paying big money to Google LLC and ConsumerAffairs. They are paying very big money to ConsumerAffairs to censor all their bad reviews and replace the bad reviews with fake good ones. HUGE CORRUPTION! Go to BBB or ResellerRatings if you want a more accurate picture of the reviews of HomeAdvisor (they are overwhelmingly negative). Beware, HomeAdvisor is a totally fraudulent scam company!
I contacted homeadvisor in search of a plumbing contractor, who never showed or called. In the past I contacted homeadvisor for a chimney sweep. He showed up never went on the roof, come in and showed me pictures of someone else's home and swore he went on the roof. I watched him the whole time, he never got out his truck. Then tried to sell me a insert and never cleaned out the chimney. The last one was a contractor for a deck, never showed and gave me a estimate without coming over to anything. I suggest you never use homeadvisor, I don't know how they screen these contractor's, but they really need to do a much better job. Homeadvisor is worthless. If I could give a lower rating then zero I would. Maybe a -6
I decided to peek at Home Adviser website thinking it might be a way to find reputable help. As a consumer, I want to be able to research, review information and choose/decide when to approach a company. Home Adviser blew up my phone and email for a full 48 hours once they got my information. They were constantly harassing me when i never asked for it. I had to UNSUBSCRIBE several times. It was if the website is designed to book companies to come out and/or contact me without my permission. I never asked for that to happen. I was only checking it out. I immediately felt overwhelmed and not in a good way. Any company or salesperson who tries that hard to control, manipulate and oversell a customer is not a reputable company in my opinion. Beware of what they will do.
Arranged for housecleaning service on an ongoing basis and contractor failed to show for first appointment. Rescheduled and got the same no-show. Should have known better, but rescheduled one more time and guess what, much time spent waiting and no one appeared despite many assurances and excuses.
The company I work for signed up in May 2019 and have had issue after issue with them. We wanted a basic listing with NO leads and were told we could have that - but that is not true. You can actually pause leads but they come back on in 2 weeks and usually at 2-3am and they have 'found' new leads for you before you can get there to pause again! So even if not accepting leads on regular basis it can end up costing you couple hundred a month - and if you forget to pause for a couple days, it can really hurt your budget! Plus our normal marketing spend is under $4 per job (actual jobs) so that $18-30 spend per REFERRAL is way too much for any business.
I can see a new business being ruined with this scheme! I had to keep calling and complaining (won't use that 'b' word) to finally get it cancelled out - then 2 months later a computer glitch restarted the acct! It is finally over - altho the stress of dealing with them still lingers.
Cannot warn you away fast enough!
There are so many others ways to get leads at much less money and much higher ROI.
They called and said they needed plumbers in the area that there are none and 9 out of 10 leads I got where taken by other plumbers in the area when there wasnt supposed to be any other plumbers. Pausing leads is bull crap and if you are unable to re pause the leads and you get leads you cant get a refund. I lost money working with these people.
We were contacted by Home Advisor asking if we would help them out in our area, their statement was they couldn't find contractors in the area to supply for their clients demands. We are a local based outfit that takes pride in helping our community. Within in less than a 30 day time frame their leads seemed to be overwhming over 90% of the leads wouldn't return calls or would come back replying they already hired someone. I was just contacted again by their establishment and was told we owe them over 10k for 3 weeks of being on their site. Now yes they do background checks on us, which shows our integrity and devotion to our clients! But however they are taking advantage of the contractors that work day in out to keep a good name! Please read the other reviews from the other pros before you donate a fee to create a financial loss for yourself!
As a contractor, using Home Advisor for leads is somewhat of a necessary evil. Leads are over $100 and I'd say 75% of the leads we get are fake. Fake in the way that the emails bounce back as invalid, we can never reach a homeowner over the phone, and the company basically has a no refund policy on leads. I live by the corporate office in Golden, CO and I see the salesman at the liquor store mid-day drunk all of the time. The liquor store clerk says they are a rowdy bunch and drink all day. No wonder customer service and the leads are so terrible.
Every time I've used HomeAdvisor, the company has either been a no-show or not called back.
It's been a complete waste of time and seems more like coming from HomeAdvisor is viewed as worthless since it's consistent
Google is a far better resource!
I cannot say one good thing about Home Advisor as a contractor. Salesman was rude and then it went downhill. Leads are not worth the cost by any stretch of the imagination. Lead costs are were said to be $75 - not so way higher and they are not good leads. Corporate policy takes precedent over ethical practices and natural human courtesies. Stay Away!
SINCE THEY MERGED WITH ANGIE'S LIST BOTH HAVE HIT ROCK BOTTOM. IT ALL ABOUT ONLY ABOUT THE MONEY AND WHO PAYS MORE RATHER THAN DOING WHAT THEY PROMISED TO DO. CANCELING AND GETTING A REFUND IS IMPOSSIBLE. I HAD TO CANCEL OUR PAYMENT TO THEM AND NOW THEY ARE SAYING THEY ARE GOING TO SEND OUR ACCOUNT TO COLLECTIONS. ALSO THEY WILL NOT STOP HARASSING US. STAY AWAY!
Called them in the morning and they scheduled me for that afternoon. Great service, courteous and very reliable!
All their leads were dead ends, refused to refund my $300.00 lead membership. Home Advisors have Class Action law suite against them.

If I could I would give them 0 stars rating, unprofessional customer service, over priced. Would not recommend anybody to use HomeAdvisor website nor for customers nor for future contractors. The Home advisor pro web is full of scam, I send 70% $ on fake leads then on real customers. To ask for a $27 refund for the fake lead it's like pulling teath out. No mater how big or small job (90% really small jobs) they will always charge maximum $ for lead. This website is not helping at all, you helping them (home advisor web) cuz you always funding them. Strongly NOT advising anybody to be customer for HomeAdvisor SCAM SCAM SCAM!
Update, still harassing me. I would never use home advisor.
10 years experience in residential remodeling.
No real quality contractor will put up with this.
I have unsubscribed, I have asked to be added to do not call list, still get emails and calls every day, I'm looking into legal action as it has slowed my operation and increased my cost to run my office
Charging you money for leads that are already taken care of and then don't give you your money back because "you exceeded your refund for this year", and you got refunded once because of the same reason!
What a scam, who ever made this thing needs to go to jail.
Had multiple, Non answering leads from home advisor and didn't get refunded because " of the customer doesn't answer it doesn't mean he won't call you back in the future and use your service, non of them did and assuming all of those "leads" were fake.
As a new business owner, I find Homeadvisor Pro a major scam that needs to be removed for good
I do have multiple more examples but I don't want to waste more of my time even speaking on this trash scamming company.
Word of warning: Do not use Home Advisor's pre-paid contracting service. They are quick to charge you card for services you haven't received, but will take 3-5 days to refund you when their contractor fails to show for a confirmed appointment and never bothers to call. And when you call Home Advisor for support they do nothing beyond apologize for the inconvenience and offer to re-book your job with someone else. Worse, they tried to make it my responsibility to contact their contractor to find out where he was and when he would be there. When I voiced my dissatisfaction they assured me that if I rebooked they would make sure that I would be assigned a contractor who has not had any prior 'no shows'. You would think I would have gotten that treatment when I booked the job in the first place! Use them for referrals, but book your jobs through them at your own risk.
Spent from November to December, 700 dollars.
Sold 1 job, for 2100, OUT OF APPROXIMATELY 20 OR SO LEADS
I'm done
I WAS A FOOL TO BELIEVE THE SALESMAN
We contacted Home Advisor for electrical work, we were given Isaac Newtons number contacted him he called made an appointment and was right there. He did the work finished up, he did an excellent job and stayed till it was finished. Thank you for sending him our way.We would recommend him to anyone!
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
