I used holydaycars.com because it was a cheap option. Wrong decision!
They subcontracted a third party, ACE car rental. When I arrived to get my car
They didn't have any car available and they didn't know what time they would have one.
We waited for 2 hours with no luck and the worst service. I ended up renting a car from a different rental car service at the airport. I filed a claim and they only paid me back $80 out of $650 I paid for the service, a service I didn't get. Do not use this website!

I needed to cancel the reservation. I discovered this over a weekend and this company is a 9 to 5 M-F. If the rental date is within 48hrs. They require the customer to call and cancel. No other way. Therefore they were able to scam me out of the deposit. I will never make the mistake of using this company again. CUSTOMER BEWARE!

I've rented a car twice via holiday cars - the rental office (Inter rent - Milan) couldn't find my reservation in their system - twice. Left stranded, I was forced to rent a car with them separately which costed me up to four times the amount. The amounts however were charged from my account by holiday cars. Instead the car company never received the reservations from Holiday Cars. You can imagine that this entire incident is unacceptable.

No refund took place until this day. I was promised to be refunded for both rentals and the extra costs I endured.

As per the rest of the stories on this website, if I could give 0 stars, I would. We rented a car via HolidayCars.com and showed up at the car rental place only to discover that we were unable to pick up our car on the basis that we couldn't prove that we had flown into O'Hare. As a result, we were forced to rent another car on the day from Sixt, who were great, but that cost us ~$650 in total. We were never informed that there was any condition about flying in for our rental, and had even noted in our original rental confirmation that we wouldn't be flying into O'Hare - and yet, there we were, paired up with perhaps the SINGLE rental place at the entire airport that for some reason requires this. It goes without saying, of course, that the whole affair was incredibly stressful. Our refund is allegedly being process, but the outcome of that remains to be seen, I suppose. Don't rent cars from this company.

Stay away!

We hired a car through holidaycars.com for our trip to Scotland in July. When we turned up at the airport we went to europcar which is where our hire car was coming from. All seemed well at first, but then I was informed by europcar that I had to pay for their rental insurance as the one I had purchased was not valid. Europcar informed me that they have told their affiliated companies that the customer would have to purchase europcars insurance. This was not highlighted in holidaycars.com t's and c's, had I known this i would have booked directly with them which would have been cheaper. I wrote to holidaycars.com explaining the situation and quite frankly they said there was nothing they could do once I had signed the agreement. This is the first time I have ever had this problem with renting a car. I will never book with holidaycars.com ever again.

Cancelled 2st reservation because the rental company was offsite and did not open till 7 am. Well, they advertised the original company under another name and also said it was on site at the airport and also said that there was 24 hour service. No one knew of the company name they falsely advertised under and there was not a local number to contact when the craziness began at the airport. Now they are saying I shall not receive a refund even though we did not use their rental car.

Not to be trusted! I booked a car rental in Spain through Holiday Cars. The I arrived with my family and young children we were told that the petrol car we chose was NOT available and they said "no problem" we'll give you a Diesel instead. They asked for our credit card for the deposit and only AFTER authorization we noticed 2x as many charges including an expensive "diesel upgrade charge". We complained, did not get a full refund and had Eur 280+ in expenses for late night travel by train and taxi.

Holiday Cars would not refund and said this was due to GoldCar as a partner. Don't use Holiday Cars, very poor customer service!

Local fees, young driver extra cost, 24/7 emergency that dont work, fake everything. This is the $#*!tiest car rental third part i have ever seen theyre so $#*!. I wish i had watched the rewiews before i booked.

The worst company ever
September 2, 2022

What a scam of a company, I book and unfortunately paid in full almost 2500 dollars on July 28th to August 25th. I went to pick up my car, the booking was locked from holidaycars side... They never answer the emergency number and they replied by email after 3 days... They refused to rebook the car or refund my money. They ruined my vacation and stole my money... A case was raised with Master card... do not use their service, it's a scam.

I made 2 bookings with this Company since I found cheapest prices, than I cancelled after few minutes since I found a better price on another Plattform.
They Charged twice, even if the 2 Reservations have been cancelled. They told me I have to weit until 15 Working days, 3 weeks to get my money back.
A bit weird since the Charged my Credit card straight away. I will call my Bank tomorrow.

I booked a car with them but there was a typo mistake in my e-mail address so I never received a confirmation.
I thought the booking didn't go through but then I found out that I was been charged for it.
No chance to get any money back.
Bad company, bad service, DO NOT USE THEM.

Terrible Experience with HolidayCars.com
April 28, 2024

We booked a rental car through HolidayCars.com for our trip to Mexico in January 2024, expecting a smooth process. Unfortunately, what followed was a nightmare that left us stranded at the airport.
Airport Pick-Up Surprise:
O We had reserved and Pre-Paid the car with a NoRiskWarranty plus which included all the insurance for the car. However upon arrival, the Hertz agent demanded an additional $1538.44 USD for car insurance. We told him we had already prepaid for the NoRisk Warranty Plus through HolidayCars.com.
Even the Hertz agent told us that many 3rd party booking agents are fraudulent
O We argued with Hertz for over an hour, even requesting to speak with the manager which said: "People should never trust 3rd party booking agents like HolidayCars.com because this happens a lot."
Communication Challenges:
O I tried reaching out to HolidayCars.com for assistance. Obviously no one answered…. This is unacceptable.
O Caught between Hertz's demand for more money and no way to contact HolidayCars.com, we had no choice but to cancel our car reservation.
Resolution Reques Denied:
O Upon our return we requested a full refund of the C$ 671.98 paid to HolidayCars.com, but the company never reimbursed us.
Bottom line:
O Don't use Holidaycars.com. They are fraudulent. If you pre-pay for a car you will not get what they promised and you will never get your money back… STAY AWAY.

I would stay away.

I just rented a car in Ireland. My voucher said "PAID IN FULL". When we got there, Avis told us we had to pay another 30 euros to waive the insurance (of 20 euros/day...) and another 30 euros because it was an airport pickup. In short, I had the choice between losing all my downpayment and having to get a new car at 8pm with my family waiting, or pay another 60 euros.

I contacted them afterwards, it took them 6 weeks (!) to reply, and of course, they said they can't do anything about it, it's Avis. And Avis says it's them...

After payment I called the actual rental company (holidays is just intermediary) to clear things up and I received an information that it would not be possible for me to pick up the car having purchased the rental with a different card other than mine. I wanted to cancel the reservation so I sent them an email out of impossibilty for me to call their only working telephone nr - Switzerland. THEY DIDNT ANSWER!
When I reclaimed with them they continuously understand it in their own way, they even actually pretend they understand different things then what I said for not having to refund me!
It was only 28€ imagine if it was 300... I would have lost all my money!
I still did lost 100% of it and considering I didnt even use the car!

This is a no go!

Milano Linate Airport: Rental Holidaycars.com and Goldcar rental.
Conditions provided by the local operator (goldcar rental) at the desk are different than those disclosed in the contract signed

Contract is not valid and incomplete.
- Deposit is different than the actually required.
- Goldcar claims that with the voucher has not been paid anything.
- Goldcar require mandatory extras to be payed to hire the car. Those extras doesn't appear it in the terms of the Agreement..

Completely Fraud. What a Nightmare! Bad experience and painful one where first They take your money and they don't provide you with the car second you will discover at the end they charge your card with another HIGHER currency such as Euro and Finally you Rent your car to use it in USA and you ended up calling their customer service in Switzerland paying international call fees per minute for an hour to cancel your order and that order cannot be cancelled under any condition. Once you discover that you've been cheated they ask you if you want to refund we need to deduct 3 days at least of your prepaid package. You stay with them on the line for more than 45 minutes without solving your problem. They can come out with thousands of excuses.
DON'T Trust them and if you already been manipulated by them call your bank at once to CANCEL Your Credit Card..

I made a car reservation with HolidayCars in mid-Feb and have to cancel subsequently because of the coronavirus pandemic. I have asked HolidayCars to relax their cancellation policy, but they insisted to charge me 25% cancellation fee on the amount paid which is the normal cancellation fee rate.

Scammers and very poor customer care
Had to cancel due to coronavirus. Firstly I tried to amend my booking to a different date and was quoted a similar price, but after confirming the booking, then it told me the insurance I had already added was more money again, so I cancelled and was offered a voucher for full amount. When cancelling I then was given only amount 65% of payment amount as they took off the extra it would have cost for further insurance. When I asked them about the voucher offer I had initially requested they said they could not backtrack on a refund even though this wasn't what I had requested. I will never use this company again and have informed everyone I know who travels to stay away. They are also the only company I know scamming people during this pandemic rather than offering good customer care.

Please stay away from this company. They are a scam. I booked to rent a car and chose to pick up the car at 10am as my flight was going to be landing at 9am. This company not only had the mistake of considering my pick up time at 2pm but also they said I had to pay 80% of the amount I paid for 15 days in total just for "modifying the reservation". I really believe this company is a scam where they apply this change of time so that they can double charge you. NEVER AGAIN!
