Avoid this provider if you don't want to lose your money
August 23, 2024

I had rented a car in Bucharest from 7:30 PM on july 21st through Holidaycars, paying almost 900 euros upfront (don't do it!). The AeroItalia flight from Rome was two hours late, and I called Pricecarz (the rental company, who turned out to be real scammers) at 5:53 PM to inform them of the delay. However, upon arrival, they said they no longer had my car and could only give me another one if I paid an additional 500 euros. Of course, I refused—this is a scam, as I had already paid everything in advance—so I decided not to pick up the car.
My rental was supposed to start at 7:30 PM, and my call to inform them of the delay was made well before that. The Holidaycars invoice clearly stated that I didn't have to pay anything more. I spoke to a very rude Holidaycars representative in Amsterdam, who told me that they couldn't intervene in the relationship between the customer and the rental company. So, what's the point of their support? Just to take the money? I sent all the documentation requested by the Holidaycars representative to get a refund: proof of the delay and my call to the scammers at Pricecarz, receipts, and boarding pass. I paid almost 900 euros for a rental car that I never picked up. I requested an immediate refund, but I haven't heard anything back. I had to block my credit card, and now I need to file a fraud report.
I hope you can avoid all of this by staying far away from Holidaycars: my lawyer says this is called fraud, so be careful!
An update from July 24: Today, I received a hilarious email in English from someone named Jazz at Holidaycars (when they wanted my money, they knew Italian) telling me they couldn't refund me because I hadn't called the rental company! And I had even sent them a screenshot of the call, as requested. There are no words. Holidaycars is a gang of scammers—I will never see my money again, but at least you can stay away from them!
Update on August 20: Thanks to Trustpilot, I'm now receiving several emails from both Holidaycars and the rental company (Pricecarz). The latter claims they no longer had my car due to the flight delay and that in such cases, the cancellation is free. In fact, Holidaycars didn't pay them because their car wasn't picked up. They say it's Holidaycars who should refund me the money (nearly 900 euros) that I had prepaid. Honestly, I don't understand why Holidaycars wants to keep the money for a service they didn't provide, risking losing so many Italian customers—is it worth it to steal just 900 euros? Then they write that they want to find a fair solution for all parties involved—what parties? It's just me and Holidaycars; they stole my money, and they have to give it back. BEWARE OF THIS PROVIDER; YOU'LL END UP IN A DEAD END IF YOU RELY ON THEM, RISKING LOSING A LOT OF MONEY. DON'T DO WHAT I DID, STAY AWAY.

Please read before booking with them!
July 31, 2024

I booked my first vehicle through them and my flight got cancelled 5 hours before departure, I only put a deposit down and I have lost that deposit due to 24 hour period. Which is fine they told me next time I book to purchase the cancellation protection which entitles me to a full refund up until pick up of my vehicle for any reason.

So I booked another vehicle through them with my new arrival time and this vehicle had to be paid in full. With this vehicle I purchased the cancellation protection. When I arrived to another country I came to collect my vehicle 30 minutes before pick up time but they asked for a deposit which I was fine with but they refused my debit master card and said it only has to be a credit card.
The deposit was only a couple of hundred of dollars which I offered to pay in cash if they don't accept my card which I have used on numerous occasions previously and had no issues.
They said no they cannot give me the vehicle and to contact Holiday cars for my refund.
I was in another country using international roaming and had very low cellular service so when I opened my webpage it would take a long time to load and then say page cannot be opened. So I tried calling Holiday cars numerous of times to Cancel my vehicle as I have my cancellation protection but the phone would ring once or twice and then you would get a voice mail saying ( thank you for calling …. We are unable to take your call at this time but someone will call you back).
I went to another hire company which accepted my card and hired another vehicle as I was stuck in another country with no internet and no car and a Little kid with me.

Once we got to our rental property they had wifi so I emailed holiday cars about my situation and for my refund. But they refused to give me a refund saying I did not have the correct card. I replied saying ok if my card is not accepted then I should be entitled to my refund based on my cancellation protection to which they responded saying I had to log in to cancel my vehicle. I explained to them that I did not have good cellular service and I tried calling them numerous of times to cancel but they did not answer, to which they responded we only work monday-friday during work hours and cannot be contacted outside those hours. I told them it you work as a global company with all different time zones you should have a 24/7 customer service helpline in order to help your customers in need. They responded that they are entitled to days off as well and they can not help me with my refund even tho I have screen shots of me calling them. They said no refund and this will be their final email.

So please check out all the review websites based on this company as they have robbed many customers. I was left in another country with no car, a little kid and no one to contact to help me.
Even tho their cancelation protection is until the pick up time, in which I have called them in, they still refused to refund me. The car company told me they will not be keeping the money they have cancelled it at their end with no issues and Holiday cars will be refunding me. If I booked directly through them they would be able to refund me.
So Holiday cars have kept the money for them selves.
I wish I checked out all the reviews about them online before booking as they have robbed hundreds of customers previously.

My suggestion is book directly from the car company that you will be collecting the vehicle from if you want actual customer support incase you run into some problems.

Worse customer service; couldn't receive my refund back; never picked up the car…
October 3, 2023

I had very unpleasant experience with Holiday car rentals unfortunately!
First of all, It was hard to find them at the airport, there is no "signs", where are they located or where they are picking customers…
Second of all it was a huge line of customers, when driver dropped me off at the "Ok mobility/Holiday car rental" office/center
Only two lady's were working! Whole center was busy!
Very strange, plus they were taking extremely long time with each customer, taking a bathroom break, talking & laughing with stuff (some personal matters to the driver I believe, who brought me there)
Lots of customers were with little kids
They were very unhappy & frustrated as well with unprofessional service!
Finally after over one hour it was my turn
But as you know, I had a reservation & I thought, it should be pretty fast
But after Ive started submitting my paperwork, the lady who were attending to me all the sudden walked outside with other customer, who was behind me & start helping them, no explanations why… It was pretty upsetting!
After I submitted with "Ok mobility/ Holiday car rental" Representive my Driving license information, booking information etc. She asked me to give her a credit card for deposit of 1150 euros
I gave her my credit card, but it didn't go through for some reason (tried couple of them but no luck) She couldn't offer any other options unfortunately … It was very late 11pm domestic time by then…
I got to rental center around 9pm, 2 hours spend at the center for nothing!
After all my Airbnb checking was by 11pm, I asked her (ok mobility representative) cancel everything, because she couldn't help me out to solve problems. Then Holiday car rental representative told me she can't cancel anything, it's nothing to do with her job at the rental center. I have to call rental car center myself & deal with them … Representive gave me wrong number by the way, that's why I set up complain & refund through your site "Holiday Cars". Then Representive told me that they are closing & driver can take me back to airport…
I was extremely tired by then & owner of Airbnb was waiting for me at the house. Imagine, Driver asked me for 40 euros to dropped me at my Airbnb … no check, asked me for cash!
I said I don't have cash, I can send through Bizum service. Finally by 11:30 I was at my Airbnb
Almost 3 hours I waisted for Holidaycar issues
Very frustrating!
I asked for a reservation payment back of 66.13 euros Company representative Mariessa refused to send my refund, stating nothing she can do!
I don't agree to pay for this quality of service
I couldn't pick up my rental
Customers service was bad
I think, Holidaycar should be out of business forever!

Tip for consumers:

Mariessa worse customer service representative

Products used:

None They could not give me my rental car

Dear Sara,

We are very sorry to inform you that we are not able to fulfill or refund any bookings paid with a prepaid credit at the moment. Giving out prepaid credits was one of the measures taken to sustain the business longer during this COVID-19 pandemic, keeping an opportunity open to repay the impacted customers over time. Unfortunately, due to the long-lasting impact, measures taken have not been enough to keep BookingMonkey Sarl (CH) from insolvency issues. Legal involvement needs to give more clarity on the situation.

We have registered your email address on an impacted customer list and will inform you on any updates.

We regret your situation and hope to be able to give you more information soon.

With kind regards,
HolidayCars.com

Sean

DON'T BOOK WITH THEM!
September 11, 2020

After I came to International Car in Lisabon, I was told that NoRisk Warranty Plus is worthless and charges by HolidayCars to me has nothing to do with them. And I should not went through HolidayCars, but book directly with them. HolidayCars "Pay on arrival 0$" on pickup was lie. I have to pay again for rent and the insurance. I try to call HolidayCars without success. When you renting with HolidayCars they do not tell you that you must have Credit Card not Debit Credit Card. You learn that information from HolidayCars when you receive voucher. This is very important point should be pointed on first "Home" page of HolidayCars web side before you buy anything. When you have "only" debit card in some places you do not get car at all regardless what you pay to HolidayCars. In other, like Lisabon you get car when you pay to rental company full insurance and pay deposit from 300 EUR to 1 900 EUR. I written to HolidayCars with complain. Receive back polite "pre printed" email telling me that a should "declined the local insurances". But that was not a option if I did not have Credit Card but Debit Credit Card regardless that mine Debit card will have no problem to be charge with 1 900 EUR. It is very sad that at this time when traveling is so complicated because situation with Covid, company like HolidayCars is not standing on the side of their customer making sure that their traveling is pleasant experience. I am sorry I did not check the internet before I used HolidayCars:

The worst experience ever
May 24, 2019

Correspondence on 5/23/2019
I placed my reservation with holidaycars.com today in the early afternoon for a rental vehicle in Edinburgh, Scotland. I received an email with my reservation number of ******* and an explanation that the email was not the voucher and I would have to wait up to 48 hours to receive my voucher. I was anxious to receive the voucher via email. When checking the status of my confirmation a couple hours later, the reservation status marked my reservation as cancelled. I immediately called holiday cars and spoke with a woman (unable to hear her name for duration of 9 min who informed me that my reservation had been cancelled and they could not tell me what happened. When I asked if I could re-confirm my reservation, she said I would have to make another reservation. Then, I was told I was receive a refund for my trouble. I realized once off the phone that she did not explain when this would be. I called back again to request a confirmation email and tentative timing of refund return. The man, Bernardo, explained I would not be able to get a refund because I cancelled day-of. I DID NOT cancel this reservation. I explained i would like a full refund for not receiving the services and the inconvenience of an unexpected cancellation and no email notification of the cancelllation. Bernardo recommended I contact their support team via email which I had done and received no email confirmation of this company receiving my complaint/request for refund. I asked Bernardo to speak to his supervisor and post several placements on hold, I spoke to a woman with an unintellible name. She explained their policy of not refunding ifcancellation was made within 48 hours of services. I explained I did not cancel the reservation and explained my conversation with first customer service representative which had ensured me I would be receiving a refund. The supervisor placed me on hold, claiming she was listening to the conversation of the first rep and me. The supervisor re-stated that I did not cancel the reservation which I re-confirmed. The supervisor explained she would have to touch base with billing and their tech team to determine whether I could get my money back.
At the end of this conversation with supervisor, I requested email confirmation of conversation and means to amend current situation. I received no email and no information regarding how long this "appeal" might take. I contacted my bank who is reviewing the situation with their non-fraud department. I go out of the country tomorrow without a rental car available to me and $154.34 less. This company was extremely unprofessional and wasted a significant portion of my time without ability to give me answers. I have received no correspondence from them since the inital receipt that they took my money despite requests and their assurance I would receive them. At the very least, I would like a refund for my trouble. Worst experience with a car rental agency.

ZERO STARS TOTAL RIP OFF
January 30, 2019

If I could give ZERO STARS I would! Holidaycars.com will RIP YOU OFF - This was the absolute WORST experience of my life and created so much stress that I would like to tell the world to avoid holidaycars.com at all costs. We booked a car with EZ rental car in Maui using Holidaycars.com - when we showed up in Maui the rental car location did NOT have us in the 4-door jeep that we had booked, they also said that we would be charged an additional $35/day to upgrade to the 4-door car that we had booked online. EZ rental car said that they would let Holidaycars.com know about the situation and that we should expect a phone call from them as well as expect to be reimbursed for the full amount of the upgrade ($35/day), including if we extended our rental. EZ rental car said this was all holidaycars.com's fault AND we weren't the first customers at that EZ rental car location that had experienced this problem with holidaycars.com on that same day. EZ rental cars said that holidaycars.com was making mistakes because they had the wrong car deals available on their website. EZ rental car also said that we never should have been able to book a 4-door jeep at the rate holidaycars.com gave us. We had booked the car for 4-days and were planning to decide on day 3 whether we would extend the car for the full week of our vacation, which we wound up doing. We wanted to make sure that EZ rental car would honor our rate and they agreed and also said that we should be able to get the full week's upgrade reimbursement back from holidaycars.com.
When we submitted for reimbursment from holiday cars, it took over a month for anything to come through. After 6 weeks of waiting, we got reimbursed the upgrade amount for 4-days of our trip, not the full week. I would shout from the roof tops that this company is absolutely not to be trusted and a rip off. I spoke to someone on the phone with Holidaycars.com on the day all of this went down, he said I was not at all at fault and admitted it was holiday cars's fault, and that we should expect to get a full reimbursement. But the company never made good on their word. My last email correspondence with holidaycars.com ended with "We are sorry for not being able to provide you with a different, more positive answer." Well, that's just about the worst customer service, in my opinion.
