The people at Hertz have been making false claims that I along with other customers haven't returned our cars when we did and threaten to make arrests repeatedly! Always take pics of you returning your car because this place will try to ruin your life to milk some more money out of you.
I hope hertz never recovers from bankruptcy. This is the worst rental car company out there. Terrible service and even worse reliability with regards to vehicles, bookings, and numerous computer issues while renting.
I typically rent from Enterprise, however, Hertz has the Shelby GT Mustang and I wanted to do a weekend test drive. Making the reservation, picking up, and returning was a breeze. My issue is the car has been locked down with a speed limit of 80, no cruse control, and the radio set to a max volume that can not be heard with the top down. There is no disclaimer of the above online or at pickup. I have rented other Hertz cars and they were not restricted. I will keep with Enterprise for their sports cars going forward, and recommend you do the same.
I worked for Hertz Rental Car in Redwood City as a driver. There was a little clerical
Mishap concerning my paycheck. Hertz supervisors made good on it in an exceptionally
Kind and generous fashion. And the local office was very nice to work for. If these are
Examples of Hertz style, then I say "get on the road with Hertz!"
When picking up my reserved vehicle at Barcelona airport I was asked if I wanted personal insurance coverage. I declined the coverage but the agent slipped it in the contract anyways. Lesson learned: always look at all the details before signing a rental agreement, no matter how long it takes. This lesson cost me 120 Euros for useless insurance.
Main caller line screwed up my order. After 45 minutes and giving them the new card number they canceled 1 of 3 cars I had rented. Didn't receive a cancellation email or text. Got to the airport and was forced to make a new booking at 60% over original quotes price when I was told my reservation was canceled. Was given different best possible rates by desk agent. Car wasn't ready till 2 hours after reservation. Spent over $4,000 on rental cars and was treated with total lack of care. Won't be using Hertz after that experience.
The car we got was a good car, that is all that was good. We were charged a surprise $500 deposit for using a debit card, without ever being notified of such, which overdrew our account. Would have happily used our credit card if we knew that was the policy. The gas was about a half tank full when we returned it and we were charged $9.99 per gal to fill it up... $82 dollars! For half a tank! And very poor customer service. The lady I spoke with was not interested in helping me, then said I could schedule a call back from a supervisor. Never got a call back. I will not be using Hertz in the future.
I had terrible experience but i went after hertz. First thing gave me a car and the tire kept loosing air. I finally gave it back to them to get another car and they try to say someone was smoking and try to charge me 400 dollars. They also went into my acct and took the money out I had no receipt I consider that stealing. The insurance had paid for the rental. But not the 400: dollars. So I wrote to hertz and got in touch with the better business bureau. And they agree to give me my 400 dollars back. I did receive it back but I will never rent a car from them. What a nightmare. Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but I was practically dying of hunger so I popped in. The definition of a hole-in-the-wall. I got the regular hamburger and wow… there are no words. A classic burger done right. Crisp bun, juicy patty, stuffed with all the essentials (ketchup, shredded lettuce, tomato, and pickles). There's about a million options available between the menu board and wall full of specials, so it can get a little overwhelming, but you really can't go wrong. Not much else to say besides go see for yourself! You won't be disappointed.
This company employees only care about their own pockets and are liars. We got a rental through our insurance company at a rate of 40 per day... it was to include taxes and service fees. The lady offered us an upgrade at $1.50 per day plus the sakes taxes for that charge. After 11 days we should have been billed around $20. Instead we were billed $119. This was because the original car arranged didn't include the taxes and service fee. Tried to communicate with Hertz and only got passed between the local office and the customer care number. In addition a manager hung up on me. Please, if you can help it find another place. If not then read everything carefully and don't sign until you are sure you understand the cost. Shame on you Hertz for only worrying about commission and your own pockets. Deception is not good customer care practice.
Usually great cars and service, more so if you have their Gold Card. But careful with the add ons, like pre-purchase of gas tank, EZ-Pass device, toll charges, etc. It can add some heavy weight to your bill. Read everything. Ask about everything
In Aug. 2017, I rented a car from Hertz for eight days. Three weeks later, I still have not received a return of the authorization payment.
And, when I call Hertz about it, I get blown off: "The delay will be unlimited, sorry, nothing we can do."
It's a substantial sum of money. Why should Hertz simply "borrow" my money, with unlimited delay? They're not paying interest on it.
What is truly amazing is the attitude. Not our problem. We could care less. We'll just take your money, and return it when we feel like it.
It's a nice cheap scam. If I did it, I'd get arrested. No charges against Hertz, though.
So vote with your feet. Avoid this lowdown fly-by-night outfit in the future.
We booked and paid for a car to be picked up at the Ellis St San Francisco location on 19 Sept. When we arrived we were told they had no cars available. Some 5 other families were in the same position. They did not know when or if cars would become available that day. We were told there were no cars available at other Hertz locations in the city or the airport. Nor would they take mu mobile no to update me as they said they were blocked from calling a UK no. So we (and others there) had no alternative but to go to the airport and hire at considerable expense from a different company. We have only today (17 Oct) been told we will get a refund. How can a reputable hire company take bookings for cars it doesn't have?
Consistently the worst experience out of all of the competitive brands. I have tried many times on business and the occasional leisure trip and Hertz always seems to mess up the reservation, overcharge, not be transparent, difficult to execute simple tasks via their website and poor customer service both in person - and if you are lucky enough to actually get an agent on the phone in under 30 minutes. No thank you.
Worst customer service and personal character I ever witnessed in a company. Was stuck on a bridge for five hrs with my 85 year old mother. First off the car was a piece of crap and check engine light came on. Stuck on a bridge in a very bad place. Know help from hertz at all or symphony. Was stuck there for five hrs until police and tow truck showed up from my wife begging them to help us. Do not trust the safety of your family to these people. I am considering suing this company which is something I thought I would never do.
I'm beyond baffled that a company can charge your card, deny you the car, and then you still have to wait a month and a half, and 4 calls into the company waiting 7-10 business days each time in the hopes of a refund. Each time, they acted as if you have not called before and even hung up on me once. They are not able to send out any email confirmations as emails can only be sent "internally". No wonder this company is going bankrupt. This is a pathetic company. Hopefully they go completely out of business soon as they clearly do not care about their customers.
Didn't pass the discriminatory filter as a resident of Belarus and was refused service in Italy.
Despite the fact that previously hertz offered rentals in Belarus itself, now its residents have become unwanted clients.
Arrived Heathrow. Despite told shuttle there in 15 minutes it NEVER arrived. We were left stranded for nearly 3 hours. Calls to Avis not picked up. Taxis would not take us.
Finally a kindly airport worker took us in his private car.
Young girl at Avis very pleasant but could not explain why not picked up or calls unanswered. Was all very distressing. We are in our seventies and not what expect after long plane flight.
We have never used avis before and never again.
Hertz might be the worst company I have ever felt with. They caused us to cause us to take two extra uber rides. That cost us 50 dollars. Then I tried reaching a supervisor for over 2 hours on both customer service and in the store. I was never able to. This company is terrible.
Rented vehicle from hertz when returned with a full tank of gas they indicated everything was fine after inspection, then I received a gas fee on my statement, I am never using this company and will never recommend to any one i know.
Answer: Unfortunately scam is a kind of normal for hertz.com
Answer: ENTERPRISE! Go there, they have way better rates and won't screw you over.
