There are a lot of complaints but I think groupon is good site for consumers. I live in NYC and I've seen great businesses advertise on Groupon. I'm not sure why people are whining about the fact that groupon takes whatever percent or that if a lot of people buy the deals they have to wait to use it. Media costs are btwn Groupon and the advertiser IMHO, so I'm going to trust the advertiser to know what they can and cannot afford to promote. And groupon shows you how many people buy the deal so if you are daunted by 1K people using a business then just don't buy it. I've found a lot of great places on Groupon and I've never had any problems with the site or with the businesses. However you should check up on the business before you buy their deal. Just cuz groupon puts something out there doesn't mean you can't be an educated consumer and research it first.
I have sent several requests to stop receiving Groupon email offers, and they keep coming. Any company that you need to add to your span blocker to stop receiving emails is not a reputable company. Their subscriber numbers are clearly inflated. They did a great service to Google by not selling, in two years they will be begging to be purchased for a tenth the price.
While it's oh so easy to buy from Groupon, it's FAR MORE DIFFICULT TO REDEEM. The companies they select often can't deal with the high response or are desperate for a reason - ie. They don't attract custom because they offer a poor service. And Groupon's customer service is TRULY ATROCIOUS - the last guy I spoke to actually told me that while they get THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS A DAY, they think it DOESN'T MATTER and they're doing great.
My experiences have been - one beauty treatment for a facial and body massage turned out to be only body massage, one salon was disgustingly dirty, one company went bust (I'd bought 4 vouchers for salon treatments for me and some friends) and Groupon avoided telling customers for weeks. After many emails and calls to complain they offered a refund or replacement deal with another company. I took the replacement, received 4 new vouchers, organised my friends but when I tried to book I found Groupon had cancelled my vouchers anyway and refused to reinstate them. I booked an alternative deal for my friends last week with the £10 appology Groupon gave me but when I tried to book it just now, only 2 days after receiving the voucher, the salon is completey booked every day until the deal runs out in 3 months. As always neither the salon nor Groupon answers the phone and if you email they take weeks to respond or don't reply at all.
DO NOT USE GROUPON, YOU WILL ONLY BE DISAPPOINTED. ALSO REVIEW THE COMPANIES THAT OFFER THE DEALS AS I'VE FOUND THEY OFTEN HAVE VERY NEGATIVE REVIEWS.
I moved to a new town and got a guopon for a hair cut, suppose to be a 60.00 value for 20.00 trust me it was a 20.00 haircut. More like a good attemp at a good hair cut then the real thing. I won't do it again
Be very very careful of the small print. I got rotten meat sent to me as my delivery area was not included in a deal and the small print was not clear if my area was covered. Not only did I not get a refund, I also had to dispose of rotten meat!
I have had very good results with Groupon in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. All of the coupons I have used have been honored without any issues. I have purchased over a dozen coupons in the last year. My biggest complaint is that many of the coupons are too far away for me to want to use them.
I'm beyond pissed. This is my first purchase from this site. I ordered a watch on Dec 10 that was guaranteed to arrive by Dec 23. I received an email last night indicating they need an additional 5 business days which means that it won't arrive until after Christmas. This is a Christmas gift for my husband. I contacted customer service and I sent an email. Anyone have any suggestions? Based on the reviews I see this is typical for this website. After I get this item, I will be deleting this account. Online shopping should be stress free!
I bought a voucher that I thought was absolutely amazing. Normally I would really question something like that which seemed way to good to be true but I thought - it's Groupon they're a huge international company they're not going to rip me off, right? Wrong!
The voucher was for a series of treatments at a salon who I have failed to reach for seven days now. I even made the journey over there and they were closed with a note on the door saying they would open again on Saturday the 11th December but that was the day I was there in the middle of the afternoon.
As disappointing as this was, I thought well at least I can get my money back. I have been trying to get in contact with Groupon for six days and they have not responded to any of my emails.
It feels like I've just transferred a whole load of money to some random bank account for a whole load of grief in return. I have now contacted Paypal to try to get my money back through them.
Overall, a really horrible, disappointing and stressful experience. Not a happy customer!
I have had 2 vouchers from this site and the first one the company had sold out so got money back for the voucher, the 2nd one is not responding to my enquires and i'm now stuck with trying to get my money back "again"! I won't be using them again. Shame because a good idea but badly executed!
Guys,
I think we should go on their Facebook page as well and post some comments, because everything is perfect and nice there... maybe in this case they will respond better. My "story" is that I purchsed items from ideeli from a tiziana cervazio that were supposed be "made is Italy". You couln't believe this quality - your cheapest merchandise from Walmart and some 1 dollar store looks better and higher quality. I attempted to return it for money back because I don't trust them any more to buy something else, I don't know where they take their counterfeit to sell...
Hi Vital A,

Why don't businesses just advertise their coupons on Kijiji... Kijiji is free.
Run the other way! This is my first online complaint ever but I think you should know about this.
Groupon is a web based marketing company. They promote a special your business offers to their internet customers in exchange for 50% payment. No $$ upfront. Sounds great right? Wrong... After dealing with the pushy sales man for 2 weeks we finally agreed on a price that would be offered for the service I would provide. I had to sign a "No compete" form promising I would not place this ad or a similar one anywhere until several weeks AFTER my run date. After reading the fine print on the contract I realized it was all wrong. I had him revise the contract 3 times. Do they think we are dumb and won't read this stuff?
I was concerned about the "No compete" clause I signed. I mean I agreed not to advertise this service until after this ran on Groupon. I was assured my ad would most likely be up within 8 weeks at the most. It's now been 4 months still NO ad has been placed.
I continue seeing the same businesses being promoted on Groupon but not mine.
All I am told is that they will get to it. They said "We didn't guarantee your ad would be posted within 8 weeks we only said it most likely would be".
This is TERRIBLE! It's deceitful & bogus.
This site appears to offer high quality goods at discounted prices. Unfortunatey, their customer service is beyond awful. If there is a problem with an item ordered they qualify themselves up the wazoo in terms of whether they will issue refund for defective merchandise, promise to send return shipping labels, and weeks later they have done nothing. Once i WAS able to locate their actual telephone number *******719), and a harried-sounding gentleman finally answered said they were really swamped... (maybe they should hire more help?) they rarely actually answer the phone. When finally you reach someone, they tell you that they will get to the matter the next day. But they don't. They obviously have a lot of preparation and money invested in setting up this business and site; I hope they got on the ball sooner rather than later with their customer service issues or they will be out of business before they can again say "we'll get on it tomorrow..." too bad. For those they've offended, they should offer future discount coupons or free shipping or some kind of appeasement. But nothing is offered but arrogance. Their items look good, but the whole shopping experience with them has been an unneccessarily frustrating and aggravating experience. I.

The deals are either $#*!e or you can never get an appointment and nobody ever gets back to you.
Am I understanding this correctly? Groupon asks the merchant (me) to discount my product 50% to get featured, which is pretty big stretch, but maybe I could swing it. THEN they take 50% of that and I get 50%? So basically I am asked not to give a 50% discount, but what is essentially a 75% discount! How in the world are businesses doing this? If I "gave away" my product at a 75% discount in the quantities they are selling on groupon, I would be out of business!
This sounded like a cool idea for my up and coming business, but after reading the fine print, I think I'm going to have to pass on this.
I ordered for the first from ideeli. I loved the blouse even more once it was received. It arrived on the expected date. I wore the next day and received lots of compliments; however someone did notive a small tear on one of the sleeves. I was devastated... Contacted idelli on a Sat. And left a message and then left an e-mail. By Monday I received an email and also a personal call! Ed at customer service was very understanding and told me what I needed to do next;.

Ideeli, Inc.
The website is good, however, the service is terrible. My voucher was redeemed through the suppiers website but neither they nor Groupon will contact me, so I have paid £99 for a voucher, which I can not use.
DO NOT USE GROUPON, IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE YOU CAN NOT RELY ON THEM TO SORT IT OUT.
Works like a porn site. You get everything for free as soon as they have your credit card details. Why would anyone give yet another possibly insecure web site, their credit card details? Maybe when Google takes it over and payment is by Paypal, it will be worth a look. Right now, just another porn style site that will probably lose your details and send you, once again, to your bank for a new credit card.
No refunds as of today after 3 emails.
I will not be using this service again.
Im so shocked at how low their rating is! I've had such a great experience with Groupon as a *consumer*... although I may not be interested in all the deals they give me in my area, it's still fun to see what the deal of the day is, and the site is really easy to navigate for technically-challenged people like me haha :). Also, their website says that they stand behind all groupon vouchers, so I feel pretty confident whenever I purchase my groupon! I live in the San Diego area and have bought... a groupon for movie tickets, one for Nordstrom Rack and I know my sister's bought at least 4 groupons herself (mostly restaurants) and neither of us have had any trouble thus far... you should definitely try it out, I sincerely think it's worth a shot :D.
Answer: Yes, Groupon is legit. You need to read the fine print before ordering live event tickets- -they will not refund your money even if it's there fault. I only buy tickets for activities that don't expire or you can use the purchase price towards a non-Groupon service the vendor offers. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, report it but using social media is a very effective way to get a companies attention. Spread the word, Groupon does not honor returns!
Answer: I usually call the merchants I am interested in before buying the coupons, and ask them if the groupon coupons work, and how much more I have to pay. You could do the same, contact the merchants you are interested in and ask them how groupon works for them?
Answer: Groupon usually sends a tracking # via email If not do as the other people suggested, check My Groupons
Answer: I wish I could say why, but a solution might be to contact Call Curtis, or your local News station that helps with consumer issues. They always seem to get fast resolutions, because companies hate BAD TV PUBLICITY.
Answer: I personally do not trust groupon. The question previous to yours printed on this site should answer your question as to its reliaiblity
Answer: The one I took by Holly and Hugo at least were I would research the company before buying. Also about twice a year they put all their courses for $5! I got mine completed it and it helped boost my resume and I was able to get a vet assistant job pretty quickly compared to before where I only got a call back from about one place which didn't lead anywhere. :) hope I could help!
Answer: Well, it's not Ideeli anymore... it's been Ideel for about a year now I think. Yes, there is a customer support phone number. I've had nothing but good experiences from Ideel in all regards - product satisfaction, price, shipping, etc. - but I've never had to contact customer service so I don't know what you'll get, but they're phone number is (888) 835-1719.
Answer: They are the absolute worst about answering customer service complaints. They will lie, they literally told me customer service reps were out sick, thus no answer to my emails for about 2 weeks. But, don't loose hope, the DAY I posted a review on this site, they answered AND gave me a 25.00 credit for my trouble. So write a review on Site Jabber with all the details and a bet a manager will answer promptly. As this is their way, I NEVER ordered from the site again after at least 3 years of orders. Good Luck and don't leave a sordid detail out of your complaint.
Groupon is the largest "daily deal" site, selling vouchers for discounted local experiences and services such as restaurants and spas, as well as travel packages, shopping, and a number of other items. Vouchers are purchased upfront and typically must be redeemed by a certain date, after which time Groupons expire. To businesses Groupon markets itself as a way to drive new customers. Groupon is a public company (NASDAQ: GRPN) and is based in Chicago, IL.
Hi,
