I purchased 4 prepaid visa gift cards to take on vacation with us. For some reason unknown to me there was a block placed on all 4 of the cards. They were declined everytime we tried to use them. After 1 month and 7+ hours on the phone with horrible customer service, I was hung up on too many times to count and every time I was able to talk to someone I was told a different story as to why the cards were blocked. I finally called Walmart Corporate and finally the blocks were lifted. We will NEVER get these cards again!
My daughter trusted this outfit to hold her money. Her account was hacked several times and she could not access her money for weeks. To speak to someone was a marathon of holding lengthy amounts of time. She died unexpectedly and it has been a nightmare to (1) reach someone, (2) jump through their hoops to regain her assets, (3) trust that her assets have not been stolen. No accounting of the activity on her account has been offered. We were told it would take two weeks to liquidate her account. It has now been two months. It was bad enough to lose our daughter, but her children need her assets. Please deal with your local bank where you can walk into a building and speak to a real person. So disappointed in this business.
I got this card for my mother who does not have a bank account, was charged $10 as a fee that apparently will be recurring, and on top of that i cannot transfer money to the card as it implies i would have been able to. I contacted support to see if i could up date the information on the card to make the transfer of funds possible and they basically said "nope." which renders this card not only utterly useless but also a huge waste of my money. Do yourself a favor and buy any card BUT Green Dot.
On September 12, I purchased a green dot visa card. I placed $150 on it for a family camping trip. I am on social security and I use tbe visas to reserve camp sites. I immediately activated the card but when I went to use it the card was declined. I emailed green dot 167 times...no response. I made 36 phone calls, I was hung up on 5 times, placed on hold 21 times and the other times I was told the card was already used. The company finally called me six weeks later I was told, "we are sorry there is nothing we can do. You case have been closed".
Don't use them you will get ripped off.
Worst customer service ever! I had an old card that I didn't remember buying and no longer have, and the IRS sent my money to it. I had to go to walmart and buy a card just to be able to call them. Was on hold for 2 hrs got hung up on. They sent my new card to a different address twice after verifying the correct address. I was hold from 4pm - 3 AM! Instead of even trying to make things better from their mistakes now I have to wait another 10 days to get a card I was supposed to have 7 days ago. And I am now going to loose my house because I can't pay the money in time, which is tomorrow. There is so much more that I can't fit on here, and all of this is over just a couple days. Long story short "DO NOT USE THEM!"

Can't get anyone on the phone. If you do you can not understand and they hang up. They will tie up your money for weeks if you have any issues.

Card declines when the money is clearly there. Unreliable and unprofessional. Hours and hours before being able to speak to someone. I was on hold so long it ended up being past their business hours and I still didn't get an an answer. Money disappears then reappears. Deposits take longer than usual.
Purchase a card
to transfer money. Every time I tried to send money kept telling me I had to register. Registered like six times and finally called a customer service. They told me I can't transfer money till I get the permanent card seven days from now. Defeats the whole purpose for this purchase. What a joke!
This is the worst debit card on the market, they cancelled my card out and refuses to give me another card but I still have money in that account, they are ripping me off, I would never use them again it's awful
I was given a $200 debit card as a present for my retirement. As soon as I started using it, I found that I only had $191.85 left. I tried using the card within three days of receiving it. No where is it disclosed that there is a $7.95 a month service fee. Plus even with a free ATM Green Dot also charges you a three dollar transaction fee plus every time you want to check your balance they charge a $.50 this is the biggest rip off I've ever seen in my life.
I lost my Green Card. Getting a replacement was a total headache. After a month I finally received the replacement card and I cannot activate it! This company is a total scam, they just want to hit you with service fees until they can't anymore. I have already incurred over $30 in fees and do not yet have access to my money! Stay away from them.
Green dot bank allows criminals to open and maintain accounts to steal money and they do nothing about it!. Perfect for the criminals out there, horrible for hard working citizens that get stolen from.
I tried to refund my card from 10 month ago, I submitted all required documents they need, but no response and giving me bad excuses, some times they put me on hold for 30 minutes, some times they transfer me to resolution center which told me that is wrong department.

Got a card for our granddaughter's birthday. She had to (1) open an account with their "bank"; (2) provide personal information to include social security number and; (3) then found out there was a $7.95 "service fee" up front. As of today (14 March 2019), we have reduced the card to a zero balance; HOWEVER, our granddaughter's account shows her "permanent card" is on the way and will be here next week. Went to the web site and opened her account. Under the heading "Security" was the option to close the card. Clicked on that and got another screen providing a "customer service" number. Called that and when prompted to enter her birthday was advised it was incorrect, so couldn't go any further. I really think all of us commenting here should get our elected representatives involved with Green Dot. Heaven knows they need more investigation than Hillary or Donald.
Around the 1st of the year, my card was hacked. They put a hold on my card. Got new card TWO WEEKS LATER. Card would not activate. They rush delivered another (another few days waiting). Tried for 2 1/2 hours to activate. Recordings kept telling me that security code was invalid (after being cut off the 1st 5 times). Website is a joke in itself. Looking like I'll never see my money again. (Wasn't much- was $71.27 on Jan. 1st. Now balance is $56- AND I NEVER SPENT A PENNY!) THEY were able to access MY money for monthly fee AND "reactivation fee"- WHICH IT NEVER WAS REACTIVATED! 10+ hours just this month spent on the phone, websites, and getting their stinking BS runaround, all for nothing. GOOD GODDAMNED THING I DIDN'T HAVE MY PAYCHECK IN THERE! I've had it with this bogus company. DONE! GIMME MY MONEY!
Loaded cash on new card. Initial use was ok, but tried to reload and use and the declines stacked up. Their customer service agents are $#*! clowns and there appears to be no record history so you start afresh every time. Might as well burn your money cause you aint getting it out of these asses.
I've been a long time green dot customer, but now there's a problem verifying my identity. They can't tell me what the problem is or how to fix it, pretty much told me not to buy another card and to take my business elsewhere. I have no problem taking my business a company that wants it...
First of all don't ever contact on email or texting. I've been for the past 5 days and Noone replies. Also if you contest a charge and are proved to be owed. They will jot refund you... im.chsnging after 6 years with them its ridiculous. I get direct deposit and have had it. I ordered a new card and they processed my payment but said it could be 2 weeks. Ridiculous. Absolutely pathetic

Purchased a moneypak. The pin numbers were unreadable. I sent in pics of cards and receipts three times! No response. On hold for 15-20 EVERY TIME! When the agent finally answers, they are not able to help whatsoever. You basically are screwed. So now I'm 300 bucks down the tubes and no one will even attempt to pretend to help. It's all bizarre. I'm so angry!
