First off calling for anything you will not get a live person, you have two options register card or lost card, they make it this way so you cant speak to anyone. My son who is 15 got a pre paid visa and only wanted to use it once not add money monthly, after his use he was cutting it up. They should have a one time use on this card but no they want you to register the card so you end up paying 7.75 a month. This is very sketchy, kinda like a scam. You cant find a place to. Delete your account anywhere. He had to register the card or lose the 40.00 he put on it, this is bull$#*!. Do not buy this card if you just want it for a one time purchase!
Charged me 7.95 for two straight years which ended up putting me in $170 debt even thought i haven't use the card or services. I activate a new card i had in my wallet apparently it was under the same account and i loaded $160 for my bill and it took all my money left me negative. I've called and now I'm just gonna open a class action lawsuit because the account should have been close earlier they know what they was doing. Worst company I've ever dealt with there corporate head quarters are a joke and i hear roosters in the background when i call figures.
They're so-called 795 fee 795 was reversed last month I called them up to talk to a supervisor got hung up on two times in a row then third time I got a hold of the supervisor they charged me $7.95 and I didn't use my card said it was valid and they were being rude about it don't get Green Dot don't call me!
I've had the card for a while and at first, yes I had some smaller issues but now it seems like everything has gone to hell starting with them sending me an activated card. I am in the process of ending my relationship with them which they are making more difficult than it should be. Don't trust them. I've had nothing but bad luck and wouldn't wish these hassles on anyone.
Let someone steal money off my card within one day and then refused to stop it canceled my card but now they're saying that I'll get my money by a check last time took eight months right before Christmas really nice
This card is not a good one. I been with greendot for well over 10 years and many many cards had to keep being replaced because customer service never knew what they were doing. They will hang up on you if they can't figure out your problem. And there WILL BE a problem.
I needed to pay a bill fast with cash. So I went to CVS and purchased a pre paid visa... Mistake...
The bill was a small installment payment... no big deal right! WRONG... They want the FBI. CIA. Drivers License ( no problem) and then 48 hours until you can use Your Money! Now I gotta wait two weeks to be mailed a refund check! They don't put that on there packaging! It should read 48 hour CIA Background Check to pay your little 37 dollar tiny bill!... No Thank You... Disclosure is a Must!

Don't ever use this card, EVER! These people are robbing bastards. My situation is similar to Juanita Cleveland's, I feel your pain Juanita. I was given a gift of $50. It took me an hour of my life to register to access my gift. I put the card in my truck for an emergency. One day I forgot my wallet and was low on gas, I thought great use for my emergency card. I tried to use it but was told I had a zero balance. I reviewed the activity to find that the crooks at Green dot were stealing $6 a month. What they do is probably legal, but is surely immoral. I encourage anyone who reads this to commit the Green dot name to memory and if you see anyone grabbing one of these cards at check out, do them a favor and STOP THEM. These people are predator's. It is our obligation to not allow crooks like this to function in our economy. Please don't use them.

Be aware if you open a bank account here you will pay 7.95 a month which is insane to have a maintenance fee for nothing, the customer service they know nothing and are based in Philippines it seems which would be fine if they educated people who answer the phone and had enough supervisors available when those people know nothing
I have used their services for several years. Unfortunately, over that period of time, each time they call themselves improving services, my account is hacked and robbed. The amount time to resolve the issue and straighten things out is unbelievable! Customer service representatives are very difficult to understand and it takes you an average of 1 hour to get a hold of someone only to provided you with scripted responses. I would not recommend this service to anyone. And by the way, if you have been transferred over to their new service, GO2 Bank, just as back!
Please stay away from this business because they will totally Ignore you when something goes wrong on your giftcard. They possibly could be keeping the card themselves. It sounds crazy but it may not be. They Ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore ignore. One vanilla and restaurant giftcards are usually 100 times more helpful and nice! Walmart, which is a good company needs to wake up and get rid of this company very fast and do only business with onevanilla who are nice and respect people.
I don't have an account with this bank but my sister does and their was an issue that money was to be returned to her account and it hasn't been she has called them numerous times and still hasn't gotten any money back so now she is contacting the better business bureau and the district attorney this is utterly unacceptable.
I uploaded 420 dollars to my card at the time I purchased it from Walgreens. Before I could use it or do anything, someone activated my card under another name and took all my money. I've been getting the run around for weeks. Still haven't been refunded
The Green Dot I had was the 'Pay As You Go" It was crazy you register the card and yourself but your account shows zero, but your emails say "Welcome to the family", time to shop and spend money". There customer chat folks are useless. Customer service phone numbers are all automated. I called every GD contact number about 20 times, but never got a human. Every time you register the card the flawed website will sign you up for another debit card and a new routing number and a different 16 pin debit card. The website has flaws.
Green dot took the funds from a non expiring Walmart gift card and I have been trying for a week to talk to someone in English to get my money back. The gift card expired but the back clearly states funds do not expire so how can they take your money, I am out $100.
I was going to use GreenDot temporarily until my direct deposit got setup with my new job, but I ended up keeping it and am still using it. I don't use it so much for actual shopping, but I have a certain amount deposited to the card and have nothing but bills coming out of it. Since my bills total per month go over the $1000 mark, there is no fee deducted from my account. Overall, I have had no complaints with Green Dot, they what they say they are supposed to do and do it fairly well. My dad has had some issues with getting information like address switched with them, but I have not run into any such issues.
This is absolutely the worse debit card to acquire.
The customer service is atrocious. They hang up on you if they don't want to assist you.
They hold your funds hostage using tricks like changing your pin number without telling you.
Run as fast as you can from this debit card. Get whatever money you might have and go elsewhere.

Why do I have to speak to a person/customer service rep out of country? Why do they see my information such as my Social Security Number, my address? Why can't Green Dot Bank have an American support system that would benefit the product as well as give us as customer a practical way of communicating our issues? Why do we have to speak to a rep we all know lacks the proper credentials to help us? Why because of the cheap pay in India and Pakistan? Why when I try to speak to Green dot bank corporate office on the internet are there not avenue's to resolve issues? As your out of country people are there to make sure we are blocked and not given the proper tools to fix an issue? Just too many Why's but why?
Horrible experience they locked my card for transferring money then wouldn't give me my balance had me late on my bills and the customer service department is none existent first off it's people that don't speak proper English so they don't understand you and you can't understand them it took 6 days for me to get my money they acted like I was supposed to just forget about it no sir not 1496. And 85 cents they crazy as hell don't use them unless you want to give yourself a stroke they will have you so angry about your money unbelievable I do not recommend this for anything except if your looking to be frustrated it's great for that
