Grammarly

Grammarly has helped me so much as a student, and I recommend it to all people who make common mistakes in their writing. In fact, Grammarly is helping me write this review write now. On average, I make around 2-3 spelling mistakes and 1-2 grammar mistakes per paper that I never noticed before. I give Grammarly a 5-star review, and I believe that it will always help me in my writing. Thank you so much, Grammarly! The yellow dot in the photo is the Grammarly logo when you are not typing. When typing, it will show up as a green circle with a white "G" inside.

Most of the time I am happy to be notified of errors. There are a few times that it tries to grammatically change words I use in Spanish, telling me it's misspelled or suggesting something totally different. There is usually a slight delay in checking my work as well. Otherwise, it's a fabulous product. I'm recently retired from a high school career and it was wonderful to have Grammarly check student work since it drives me bonkers to see misspelled words and homonym exchanges. That made it wonderful!

I only use the free account, as I'm a simple poor college student trying to get my work done. But boy oh boy does this thing work wonders. From the small mistake to the wrong word, Grammarly will help me find how to best put my thoughts down. I highly recommend for any writer.

The thing that gives it downs is that the premium plans you need sometimes for classes and they won't tell you anything! So if they made Grammarly one big free package that would be great but otherwise it is good does all my grammar! More fun than I thought it would be.

Grammarly is overall decent, but there are a few things wrong with it. For starters, at least one third of the suggestions are incorrect, and are often out of context. It's also self-contradictory. I follow one of the suggestions, but then it turns out that's wrong too.
Another thing that annoys me is the fact that whenever I'm in the middle of writing a sentence, the AI alerts me that there's no closing punctuation. I know that's not a significant problem, but it's very irritating.
Lastly, most of the features are only available for premium users, which is very disappointing.

The free version is useful and catches small items quickly as I'm typing. And I write a lot. I do feel the Premium version is overpriced. If I could get reimbursed for the expense or my employer purchased the software then I'd definitely recommend it; however, in the current environment, I have to purchase all my authoring software and accessories myself without reimbursement so it just isn't viable at this time.

Don't bother with grammarly. I rate it minus 5. Finds mistakes where none exist, and although you instruct it to ignore, it keeps bringing them up. Puts commas everywhere, often without good reason. It does not understand simple past and continuous past tenses. It puts articles where they are not necessary. It cannot identify context. It often wrongly attributes the subject of a verb. Grammarly is a nightmare for creative writers.

I know most people won't agree with me. But Grammarly is pathetic most times. Why? It is so artificial that it will take every bit of emotion and all kinds of interesting core from your writing by leaving it with just grammatically correct bland content, neither interesting nor readable.
My genuine request. Use it only for professional writing. For personal writing, I'm not going to use it ever.

So I decided to enroll in a subscription, it said $11.66/month, so I was like "oh cool." But right below that price, in tiny letters, it said: "Billed as one payment of $139.95." Well, I didn't read the tiny letters and then I find that I was charged $139.95 via Paypal. I contacted support within 5 minutes, told them I wanted a refund (didn't even state why), and five minutes later Olivia responds and gives me a full refund. That was pretty cool. I think the product is too expensive but good customer service from my experience.

Using it to improve my paper. Prompts are sometimes wrong, with commas in the wrong place and plurals in place of singulars. Enforces active voice, though passive voice works in some cases. Repetitive words are inevitable in a research paper but Grammarly insists on ridiculous substitutes. Can ruin the formatting within word document if not careful. Makes me feel like the program was designed by the Chinese. Not worth the cost. Plan to use it only for the duration of my paper.

The experience so far has been easygoing. Grammarly has made writing not just faster but convenient and I need not worry about missing out on any blunder whatsoever in my written texts with Grammarly at my disposal, be it for a formal email or a client content draft. And its tone detector makes the experience even better, helping me realize the pitch and tone of my writing so I am in control of what message is conveyed and how it will be received by the receiver.

Grammarly is so great! It has helped me with many writing problems. I use it all the time. I'm even using it right now! One thing I would change is that it won't work on Google Docs. When I try to double-click on a word to see some synonyms, it will not work. Now, this might just be Google Docs's problem, or maybe my computer is at fault. Whatever the issue is that is why I gave it four stars. Thank you so much for giving me the chance to review Grammarly!
