Fast corrections

My grammar is excellent (I have a degree in English), but there are the odd occasions when I'm not sure of the best punctuation, and I still make the occasional typo. Grammarly saves a bit of time by allowing you to correct with a single click.

Watch out! A rip off when it comes to payments. After finishing your subscription they will automatically charge you again without permission. If you can get a refund from them, they will pay you a different amount, blaming the bank.
An outrageous experience trying to get my money back.

Avoid at all costs!

In the end, I only want two things from my grammar checker:
1. Make good, relevant suggestions
2. Make it easy to bypass grammar suggestions with which you disagree.

Grammarly scores extremely high on both counts, IMO. I am picky about my choice of words in the first place, so I'm generally not supportive of efforts to rearrange that style. But the suggestions Grammarly makes are good ones and I tend to agree more often than disagree. In those cases where I prefer my own sentence construction, I can simply dismiss the correction and it won't return.

Moreover, while I am also pretty sure I get my tone of writing, generally, it is helpful to see how Grammarly "hears" it. Again, I generally tend to agree and where I don't, I often decide to rewrite the sentence, because clearly there's a chance of being misunderstood.

Grammarly account not only helps users to know what errors and wrongs are, it also helps you to understand more about the correct usage of wrong words. However, when using Grammarly, the spell check feature of MS Word will be disabled. During the import process, Microsoft Word auto-save and undo feature cannot be used. So, remember to save your content as soon as you finish typing to avoid losing text.

Grammarly charged my card 140 for a year subscription without my knowledge or permission. They "renewed" it, but I never signed up for another year or automatic renewals. Now I'm stuck paying for a service that I don't even have access to. It charged me but still asked me if I would like to upgrade to premium. And the customer service is awful and mostly non-existent, if you call the number they tell you to go to the website and then end the call. I want my card information taken off of my account but it feels impossible to do. Ugh, so frustrated! Grammarly does not give any form of refund.

Weekly Emails

I love grammarly and all when I'm writing, but the weekly emails are on a whole different level. The amount of joy that fills my heart as I read the data you have collected about me is unmatched! The simple graphics and gifs are absolutely sublime.

But in all real seriousness, they're amazing. Do not change them. Do not.

Although I never could speak very well, especially in front of other people, at least I know I could use proper grammar and punctuation. However, your program also helped me with my spelling, which was truly helpful. I had accidently purchased an premium subscription thinking it was for 11$/month and ended up paying 139$. I tried getting in touch with grammarly support the next day and explaining to them that I would not require a yearly subscription. I requested for a refund of the unused amount however have not received a response from them.

Every follow-up ticket logged with support is marked as solved.

Program is great, customer service is very poor. I paid for the service and was very happy with it. I logged out and could not remember my login info. I contacted customer support, I had the transaction number, date, amount, everything they requested. I literally spent hours on this all to no avail. I was given instructions that sent me in repetitive loops. So I have a premium service, which is completely useless now. I typically detail all my login info but did not this time for some reason.

This website is a scam!

This company is a complete scam. I just got charged 139.95 for their "premium annual package" (which I never chose) and I don't even have the premium option available. I've tried to send over 20 emails to their "support email" but they just close the request and mark it as "solved" so it can be ignored. This should be illegal. I've reported it to my bank so hopefully it will get resolved.

Grammarly told me that I had significant plagiarism in my paper, but would not let me see it unless I set up a payment plan. When I went to a different plagiarism checker, it told me that my paper was 100% unique. Why do you have to lie to us to get us to buy your services. That is so messed up. I do not like Grammarly anymore, and at all cost avoid it, because I do not know anymore if they are telling me the truth about my writing or not.

A fantastic start
February 24, 2022

I had some doubts about this program but was willing to try. Grammarly works extremely well. The only issue is some of my writing styles use terms and structures that are unusual when compared to the general public or popular writing. This was easily overcome and is not a serious issue. What remains to be seen is if Grammarly learns as it corrects mistakes.

Useful Reminders

I just have Grammarly basic - the free version. I like it because it is always providing useful reminders such as spelling, basic grammar and punctuation. I often ignore the suggestions but it's not intrusive. It's tightened up my writing to be more concise.

I love it but...

I love it but, you don't get a free trial and they have like this basic service which is great however they tell you, you have a bunch of stuff wrong and basically you have to guess what needs to be fixed, or sighn up for their "premium service," which look I'm not a business that I need to pay $40 per month so I just try to figure it out and yeah it takes me longer to send emails and letters but eh. It's okay, I guess it's better than nothing. I know I want the service I just don't want to pay monthly $40 per month for it. I'm an individual, not a corporation or I might feel different.

Avoid using this site
October 4, 2010

Avoid using this site. The free 7 day trial is a scam to get your credit card information. Once the have it, they lose all knowledge of you or your account so you are unable to log onto the site to use their service (beyond the initial sign up) or cancel your account before your credit card is charged. "Customer service" is via email only and they will play dumb and be as unhelpful as they can, if you even get a reply, so they can stall long enough to charge your card. Absolute scam!

A couple of minor issues.

Grammarly is mediocre. Most of the features can only be accessed via the premium subscription, which was disappointing. They advertise that it's free, but they only display the premium features, which is misleading.
Something that pissed me off a bit was that with the 'closing punctuation' feature, if I pause to think of what to write, I get an alert that there's no closing punctuation. Just get Microsoft Office, for students and teachers it's free. The editing tool is much better than Grammarly's. Overall I think it was okay, but absolutely not worth your cash.

Write with Confidence!

I started using Grammarly to assess it as a tool to recommend to one of my staff since English is not their primary language. After months of reviewing and editing drafts, I started using Grammarly to make suggestions and really liked where it was going. I shared the product and now I am no longer asked to review written content, the work has improved, and my staff is feeling more comfortable with their written reports. I have also started using it to see suggested changes and build more confidence. This product is a great tool!

It is kind of helpful but it also makes some mistakes in its corrections like changing "are" to "is" overall it is okay to write with Grammarly for informal writing where grammar isn't all that important in my opinion Grammarly might as well just be used as a tool for checking spelling.
