Until now, tee times I booked online at my local course only held the reservation, not actually making a credit card charge. A recent booking was called a "Hot Deal." I clicked on it and a charge was made to my credit card. Days later, I wanted to cancel the tee time and get a refund because the weather and my plans had changed. The course could not refund it and said call Golf Now. I did and the agent said I could not get a refund, but could only post the amount charged to a Golf Now account that could be used later for another tee time. This is more than just poor customer service. It is deceptive and a shameful way to do business. Any charge you make should be able to be reversed. VISA is helping me navigate this travesty. I will never again book a tee time powered by Golf Now.
Just like every other company now a days, it's about deception. They dress it up with saying no cancelation fees, or u get 10 dollars a month to spend on golf. What they don't tell u is that u can't cancel the hot deals. If I wasn't getting a hot deal I'd just book with the course directly. The only reason to book thru golf now is the hot deals. Lol. And on top of that they give u the 10 dollar off deal but it can't b used before like 2pm. So half the year they are really worthless because it gets dark before we can complete 18. What a joke. I wouldn't care so much if u just spelled it out properly at first. Don't $#*!ing lie to me to get me to use ur service. $#*!ing crooks. If there was a 0 star rating they would get that.
I attempted to reactivate my membership and book a tee time online. After several days of getting a generic (nondescript) error message from both browser and app, I finally called Custom Service. I tell the rep I was trying to book a tee time and reactivate membership. She books tee time and I see a convenience charge on my phone. I re-explained my online experience and desire to reactive membership with the booking. I asked her if she could cancel the reservation and rebook with the membership activated to avoid the charge. She told me "Absolutely no refunds of convenience unless the golf course was closed". When I pushed back about the fee, she blamed me for not asking to buy a membership at the beginning of the call. I haven't experienced such poor customer service in a very long time. The rep had the chance to sell me a $200 membership, by rolling back a $10 fee. No brainer decision, but not for a GolfNow rep!
GolfNow's system infrastructure seems to be very fragile and riddled with bugs. I have had numerous booking issues in the past. This is just one more example. A well-run company would never allow the acquisition pipeline components of their site to be inoperative. GolfNow doubled its membership fee a few years ago and the value and quality have gotten progressively worse. I hope a quality competitor moves into this space...
GolfNow charged both of my registered credit cards $99 with no explanation. I've been on the phone with them for two months and they can't give me an answer why and won't reverse the charges.
Hot deals in general are almost impossible to book. They show up on the site and when you get to the final stage of trying to make the reservation up pops an error message that indicates that time is not available and yet a charge starts to show up on your pre-authorized credit card charges. Calling in to GolfNow by phone allows them to call the courses to see if in fact those times that you were trying to book are available. Most of the time they are not available. The most frustrating thing I have ever seen and had to deal with. For a company that only does online business they are the worst. Any other online retailer would've been out of business by now. Their staff that takes and tries to help with your calls are terrific. Unfortunately the technical issues are an ongoing issue since from what I can tell is the purchase of teeoff.com. And I pay 199.00 a year to get this aggravated! Shame on me I guess... GOLFNOW are you listening?
Really! $10.00 for Monthly Tee Time Credits! You want me to spend $200 on GOLFPASS+ and receive $120 a year? What happen to $200 perk credit you offer last year? What happen $20 hot deal specials you offer during holidays? Now you offer 20% off when you spend $30. You're killing me! Who's your marketing manager, "Water Boy?" Get it together... F#$!
I tried Golf now membership for the past year at $199 for the year. Membership started out moderately beneficial but has gotten worse as the year progressed and they modified policies. Many issues but here are 2 issues. Started the year with the $15 dollar monthly reward for use on hot deals. They reduced this to $10 monthly half way through membership. The other issue I see is with cancelation policies. Cancel a reservation day or more before tee time and many courses just refund you. At Golfnow they apply a credit to your account which is only good for 90 days (tough luck if cancelation was cold weather region and made late in the season). Most concerning is that Hot Deal Cancelation credit can only be used for another Hot Deal reservation. Very limiting on how credit can be applied. Had I reserved directly through course the cost would have been exactly the same even with Hot Deal and would have received full refund for canceling outside 24 hour window. My recommendation is stay clear of GolfNow. Also check out the site and you'll see they make it very difficult to find a phone number to actually speak to someone. This membership is pretty much a scam and I don't expect they'll be around much longer. Certainly won't see me renewing and at least I can post this warning for other golfers.
Found it impossible to cancel tee time and got charged full freight. Golf Now is not reachable for changes and cancellations. Don't trust this site!
This site is untrustworthy and dishonest. I booked a reservation online and they gave me no online option of cancelling the reservation or modifying it. When you call them on the phone you get a recording stating that they accept no phone request. DO NOT USE THIS SITE.
I had booked a tee time through golfnow and the day of the round I received an email from golf now stating that's they had received my cancellation request which I never made. I called the course and it turns out they close do to too much rain so it was out of my control but I haven't received a refund and if I do hopefully golfnow gives you a credit which usually is not what you paid and there's a lot of restrictions as to when you're able to use it. If the golf course closed it's not my fault so I feel customers should receive a credit back on their CC. Anyways be careful when using golfnow as they can be shady and you cannot contact anyone!
BEWARE! Golf now is trolling for ways to charge people for legitimately cancelled reservations - so be on the watch out. They make it impossible to get your money back. The service here reflects poorly on the Morris Country NJ team who selected them. Look at all these bad reviews! They are the truth
First, I signed up for their $199 annual membership which was advertised as having waived convenience fees, a fee monthly Hot Deal tee time and a dozen golf balls. While the free Hot Deal time was hard to ever use because of the restrictions, that was what made it worth the $199. After 6 months they changed that and instead of a free tee time, they gave you $10 towards a tee time. Considering an average tee time in my area is $40-$50, I'm now losing $30-$40 in value per month on what I signed up for. I also never received the golf balls that were promised and had to contact them after 7 months and request them. I accidently booked 4 people instead of two (@$80pp) and instead of a refund they just put a credit on your account. They also won't let me cancel my membership after they changed their terms. When I signed up the TOS stated "all golfpass program members will receive one (1) golfnow promotional code (the"play promo code") per month while their golfpass membership is current and valid, which may be used to redeem one (1) hot deal* tee time of any value." While my membership is still current and valid, I no longer get the free monthly tee time.
The person who said joining golfnow for $200 is worth it because you can use promo codes on weekends? WRONG! My $200 membership just expired, not renewing. Promo codes can only be used Mon. Thru Thurs. After 12pm and hardly any courses have hot deal tee times after 12pm anymore. They don't want promo codes, they want cash.
Therefore, golfnow says if you get rained out, no refund but we'll give you a $20 promo code. I have 30, $20 promo codes "that are useless!
Golfnow is no longer worth the hassle. Last year, I was in co tact with the reservations supervisor AND the VP of golfnow by telephone. They said they would look into it. Never heard back. Called them numerous times, left messages and NEVER heard from them again. THEY WANT YOUR MONEY, THATS IT! Golfnow is Now a complete farse!
DO NOT USE THEM! Horrible site and service. Customer service is bad. They have habit of cancelling team times at the last minute with no justification. The recently cancelled a team time due to club having a tournament when the club had no tournaments on their schedule.
I wanted to cancel a tee time but the site would not allow it so when I tried to contact customer service - IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE!
Their program has completely changed over the years and now too complicated to use. I will NOT use the service anymore. There are other services that are easier to use and now many courses have their own deals.
Spending the time to book a round of golf and then find its not available is frustrating. That's the least of their issues. Phantom charges and horrible cancellation policies. Even as a Pass+ customers, it sucks. Unfortunately, they bought their top competition (TeeOff) so we are stuck. Absolute $#*!.
Poor customer service and very unforgiving cancellation policies. I was unable to apply my $20 promo code to my Hot Deal reservation after checkout even though it was a glitch through their own website. Unable to speak with Customer Care on the phone.
Using the website and application for a couple of months I have encountered some dissatisfactory circumstances which I feel the need to express. When you book through golfnow 1/3 times the tee time will not register at the course due to technical issues with the website/app causing backups most of the time; resulting in a waste of time/patience. The price of some rounds are more expensive than booking it at the course itself and accrue additional processing fees. If you choose to stick it out and acquire rewards codes or memberships the codes have parameters that make it difficult and nearly impossible to redeem unless you're unemployed or retired. Even then, the promo codes and rewards codes won't work resulting in errors. Furthermore, if you choose to contact support, you will be received with outsourced third party representatives who take it upon themselves to ask every possible personal detail about you under the bases that it verifies your account; even though they already have 3-5 details which should provide adequate for verification.
I inadvertently booked 2 tee times under hot deals for the wrong days. I cancelled them both within 1/2 an hour only to find out that they don't do refunds for these. I was issued a bunch of credit codes for $20 each, but could only use them for hot deals and only after 12:00, and most hot deals are before noon. I called customer service to see if they could help me out and surprise, surprise, was told that I could only use the credit codes and only 1 per booking.
Terrible service. So now i have to try to find hot deals near me after 12 to use. Oh, and still pay the booking fees.
Golf now sucks!
Answer: Because they got too big for their britches. They think they have such a clientele that the few who will drop off are insignificant. They would not even refund my fees for an accidental booking I made for the wrong day. You are correct, I have been going thru the local websites of the courses themselves. I was a customer for 5 years with about 40 bookings per year, they took away my free fees and the bonuses. I have not booked with them in 4 months.
Answer: Golfnow sent an E-mail to me (Dec) informing me that points must be used by Dec. 31. Ok tried to find a tee time for Sat or Sun because I work M-F. Not one single location available in Tampa, Lakeland and Orlando to book. Having 6600 points that I lose, it seems more notice would have been provided to assist in using valued points (converted $88.20). Nearest course several hours away (Daytona) not happening. Contacted Golfnow and Mr. Joe Babcock of customer service, (oxymoron), had me call 800-767-3574 to get a tee time, what a joke, lady on phone was of no value and promised her supervisor would call back. Hell will freeze first, never again do business with these cons. Thanks, Douglas Roger Sundean
