NO to GMX
June 7, 2019

Worked great for about a week, than closed for irregular activity. That would be about 2 dozen incoming emails, an 1/2 dozen outgoing since opened. If you read this GMX, close account permanently.

I have never done anything 'weird' using any account, and I have never had issues with previous email services, GMX, however, sucks horribly. They randomly blocked me from my account more than once and did not give a reason. When they allowed me back into that account and blocked it again, I created a new one (about a year ago). Now I just tried to log in and was told that my account was "in the process of being terminated." I think they use these accounts to get people's personal information. Maybe they use it themselves; maybe they sell it to others. They need to be investigated by the Better Business Bureau and the FBI. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER WITH GMX. USE A DIFFERENT SERVICE, OR YOU WILL LIVE TO REGRET IT.

I've used GMX for a few months, and I've gone back to an old g-mail address. I had a yahoo account for years but I had to give it up because they no longer had any spam filters. Yahoo says you have to train their spam filter like a dog, I'm sorry but my dog must have died! Then there is gmail they look into your account, and they will let anyone else look in. GMX, Yahoo, Gmail, Apple, Android and Windows seem to fight with each other all the time. My GMX wouldn't import the contact list on my IPhone, and it would lock up all the time. Also my GMX would drift off while I'm making an email draft and when I hit send the draft was just gone (Very Strange). Anyway I'm done - as my Asian friend would say - HAD NUFF THIS! PM

AVOID AVOID AVOID GMX LIKE THE PLAGUE. I have tried setting up two separate emails addresses to handle an influx of recruitment emails from potential employees. BOTH email addresses have been blocked almost instantly due to 'suspicious activity' bu they NEVER reply to emails to unlock the accounts. Check out the forums and there's even a special Facebook page of complaints about their useless service. They obviously don't bother to read any of this feedback and complaints. Reputation is everything and these people clearly don't give a toss. If they worked for my business I would fire them - and so I suspect would most people who care about their customers and their business. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I now have to email 50 potential employees with yet another email address to send their job applications to. It's just embarrassing. Don't ever bother with GMX. THEY ARE USELESS.

I just wanted to cancel my email created 3 days ago because the web sessions are not encrypted as I thought and also because there are 95% of negative reviews accross the the web.
When I log into my account and go to Settings => My Account => Account Details => Delete Your Account Now.
Then I fill up the form and confirm my password I get the message "Please check your entry and try again, Incorrect password".

I tried several time using different browsers under window$ and linux but no possibility to delete my account.

Keep away from this provider.

Just as others have said, the e-mail address gets often blocked due to apparently being on some spam (or other abuse) lists. Needless to say, I've never been sending spam. EDIT: I'm in Europe and mostly send emails to other ppl in Europe, maybe it has something to do with the blocking.

Plus the server has often problems which means you are unable to send (and likely also receive) any emails from your email client (I use Thunderbird). No idea, if you can log in on the website, I'm not gonna try, I'm sick of it.

It also happens that sometimes the automatic "out of office" answer isn't being sent, despite everything being configured correctly.

CONCLUSION: It was a mistake on my part to set up the gmx.com account and I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT to anyone.

I've been looking for a good email service for some time (my requirements being: supporting SMTP and IMAP, privacy, a lot of space and free) and I'd recommend trying seznam.cz (https://registrace.seznam.cz/?hp).

There are a lot of people, including myself who have used this service only to have it fail. There are a ton of one stars on here and other sites as well. If you consider 60% of Internet traffic (reviews, comments, etc.) are fake and or paid for, you can start to see why the 4 and five star reviews exist. That guy cursing at people speaking honestly about the faults in this 'service', even if you had dependable service, acting like we don't have problems because you don't is the pinnacle of narcissism (especially when you blamed the intelligence of a swath of users) although I don't know if you can hear me from how high your ivory tower is. Don't try positing the reverse of what I said as true about negative posts. In the first point if the 60% of fake posts were instead the negative, they wouldn't all have the same problem because it would do more damage as a campaign to attack many aspects of the site. The second point is mainly based in the fact that a service is supposed to operate, if there are this many Meg revs that's bad. G2g

1) Create an account

2) Send a single email through it, literally once

3) Login again - all good

4) Try to login for the 2nd time - account is blocked!

Worst email provider ever.

I recently got an email solicittion for a Service Manager position w/GMX. But instead of blindly applying for it (like a "Chump"), I decided to do a little research on this company... and thanx to the numerous 1-Star ratings, I've decided to flag their message to me as SPAM and not apply for the job. From what the reviews said about GMX, I'd be better working at McDonald's!

This past Wednesday night GMX kept logging me out automatically. That progressed to me receiving an error message that they noticed unusual activity and were blocking my account. That's it. No steps on how to resolve, nothing. I search around for contact information and find a phone number through Google search. Turns out to be some Indian guys running a scam who I foolishly gave access to my GMX account they then wanted to charge me for fixing. I didn't pay. Then looked around again on GMX site and see they only offer a contact form. Filled it out two days ago and have received only an automated response with a ticket number. This is my main business account! I am now dead in the water and will have to open a new account elsewhere and try to recreate the most important contacts. I've always hated all the ads featured on GMX along with their excruciatingly slow load up speeds, now this. With the number of customers they claim to have and net with there us NO EXCUSE for not having swift, competent technical resolutions available. No phone, no email, no NOTHING! WORST EMAIL EVER!

I signed up for a gmx.com account, no problems. I'm just an old guy who has never needed Email for more than communicating with family and stores. Then, I tried to sign up for a second account for my wife. Every candidate address errored out. Suspecting some kind of bizarre IP exclusion, I got a VPN from Proton. Different IP, no more problem with address selection. However, at the verification screen, I was notified the account was blocked for suspicious activity. Wrote to tech support. Simple reply from security department that account will remain blocked.

So, they assume that each user in the universe has their own Internet connection with a unique IP? That no family or business shares a single connection to the Internet? That no single person would ever want a second address? That someone who uses a VPN simply to protect their identity is a suspicious hacker?

And what happens to the majority of users who technically use dial-up cable/ISDN modems? If my house has a power outage, my IP can change when the power comes back on and reconnects to my cable company. Is a changing IP the reason why long-time users of GMX/mail.com are suddenly branded as abusive and summarily cut off?

Seems to me that we've found the lunatic fringe of businesses. They've tied themselves into such a tight paranoid knot as to entirely eliminate any usefulness of their services. Well, maybe one use. I can still use my one operational gmx.com address as a sacrificial lamb, when I need to give someone a legitimate Email for authentication purposes while knowing the result will be hundreds of Spam messages. Useful until mailbox is pitifully clogged or cutoff as a nuisance to GMX.

I think it's great
February 26, 2019

It's simple, no messed up interface, no clutter and fast. It has full support for IMAP and SMTP, so I have connected it to Thunderbird on my PC and to the IMAP client of my mobile phone. Also gives the ability of e-mail aliases, so I can use 3 addresses (or more I suppose) from one user name and mailbox.

This service is a disgrace and they cannot be trusted. They blocked me from accessing my email account 1 month after I started using it, (with no warning at all), even though I had done nothing wrong and the email address was used for a legitimate business. I asked them to explain what the problem was so I could resolve the issue but they wouldn't even give me an answer and all they said was """our abuse department have blocked your account and we've decided to keep it blocked. We can't tell you why we've blocked it but we hope you have a good day"""?. I have now been placed a bad situation with several of my clients and this has caused my business a lot of problems and inconvenience but GMX are now completely ignoring me and I can't access any of my important business emails or data. Be very careful if you register for an account with GMX as they are not a professional or trustworthy organisation. There have been an increasing number of reports about this same thing happening to other people so I am quite sure now that GMX is nothing more than a phishing scam hiding behind a nice looking website.
I should probably also mention that in the 4 weeks I used this service every email I sent to my clients landed in their junk/spam folders so the more reputable email providers out there have obviously blacklisted this service because they know it's run by scammers.
Using GMX has been an awful experience from start to finish and now I have to try and find a way to fix all the problems they've caused me by blocking me from my account with no reason.
Appalling... truly appalling!
