Buyer beware
July 7, 2017

My husband gave this to me as a gift. It was kind of fun for the first year (although there were not that many products that I would actually use or buy on my own -- and almost every product was TINY). Suddenly, a few days ago, up pops a "welcome to glossy box" email. The subscription had automatically renewed, without any warning. I emailed saying that I did not want to renew. Customer "service" says simply: that's our policy. Again, there was no warning that this was an automatic renewal. So, I am stuck with another year -- it has gone from somewhat fun to being a trap.

Complete SCAM
July 3, 2017

I purchased a single Glossybox and a three month subscription for a Mother's Day gift in early May. It is now early July and NOTHING has been sent although they have taken my money pretty quickly. This company is a complete SCAM. DO NOT use them.

Poor customer service, products are advertised as luxury-- but we seriously got head and shoulders shampoo and conditioner in last months box. This was not my serious issue however.

Everything boils down to customer service-- just read all the other reviews-- they are just like my experience

I have been a subscriber for a while. I like their boxes, but if you ever have an issue and want to talk to someone... there is nobody available. They won't allow you to ever redeem your glossydots. They email you a response after a month and tell you to call them about the issue, but NOBODY works the phones. Their phone message asks you to email them. So utterly ridiculous. I hope they don't automatically renew my subscription, because you probably can't ever talk to anyone to halt your renewals!

No May Box received; Initial email to customer service was on 5/20. This is they're automated response: "his automated message is a confirmation that your ticket has been received by the Customer Care team and will be responded to within 5-8 days, as we are experiencing a much higher than normal backlog." I have not heard anything. As second email received the same response. Again, have not heard from Glossybox customer care. Phoned 4 times - automated response said my call was place in a queue and they would call back. The line then went dead. This happened 4 times and have never heard back from them. Something appears to be "fishy" to receive absolutely no response.

I recently ordered a May box using a code that also gave me a free Pink Diamond box. I was super excited until I noticed that my e-receipt didn't mention I would receive the free box (which was my whole reason for signing up). I've emailed customer service twice and so far no response. I tried calling and was on hold for 30 minutes before the line went dead. If I don't hear back I'll have to contact my credit card and stop the charge. So far, not impressed at all!

Poor Customer Service
April 12, 2017

I've been a glossybox customer for over 3 years. Although I have started to tire of the products they send, I've continued with the subscription (mainly because they bill my credit card annually without notification and by the time I realize it, it's more hassle to try and cancel).

The last shipment arrived and it was a total mess. It included an eyeshadow palette that broke and left glitter eyeshadow powder on everything. I snapped a picture of it before tossing the entire contents and forwarded this to their customer service. It took days for a response and when I did receive one all they could say is that they are working on replacements from the manufacturer. It was obvious that I wasn't the only one affected. Almost 1 month later and still no response. I am contacting them to cancel my membership immediately and refund me the months remaining. There's so many subscription services out there but their attitude suggests that they believe they're the only one. That may have been the case when they first started but it isn't any longer.

I subscribe to for March's box I never received! They are trying to charge me for April's when I have sent over 10 emails stating I never got my first box. I refused to pay for something else and not receive it. I been subscribed birchbox, boxy charm, Sephora's play box, and I have never received such $#*!ty service in my life! I sent over so many emails and screenshots showing they were supposed to send my box. And done only one email saying they were going to contact their warehouse but I never heard from them again! I've already contacted my credit card company trying to dispute the charge. I wish I would have never tried glossybox and I will post on their page.

I have been a subscriber for over two years and have gifted it to friends and family for various occasions. This month an item was broken and their website and product card both stated "7 items in every box," and I only got 5. After 2 weeks I got an email back saying they will replace the broken item and telling me there was a miscommunication in regards to the product card and then listed the six items their system said I received. After taking to social media they emailed me back saying they would replace the item the system said I was sent but I said I didn't receive but everyone was only getting 6 items. As Facebook was the only way they were taking notice I posted a screenshot from the website promising 7 items in each box and asked if they were going to address the false advertising. Instead of a response, they blocked me to hide all of my comments and reviews and prevent me from leaving any other review which by the way is illegal as I am a customer.

I warn everyone to stay away from this company. Yes, the items are nice but when you have an issue as I did, and yes I did say WHEN, they will dismiss your concerns completely while keeping your money. I filed with the FTC and I suggest anyone that has had a similar experience do the same.

Terribe Subscription
January 9, 2017

Do not get roped in, not worth the money and a HUGE scam!
First: the boxes are awful, not full sized as they say and usually the products are not good and you give them away (or try too). Any product that comes in color( eye, lip, nail) are always the worst colors that get tossed in the trash.
Second: They rope you in to automatic renewal and literally impossible to cancel and get your money back. According to their horrific customer service when you sign up there is an apparent contract you sign that sucks you into to automatic renewal. Biggest scam save your money and go to Birch Box

Beyond the misrepresentation of their boxes, specifically 2 full size products & 4 deluxe samples, they, for the most part, only post the positive or mostly positive reviews. They give bonus points for reviewing their products, so I performed a little test on this. They only posted my positive reviews, so users do not get a fair picture of what users really think of their products. In addition, much of what I received would be department store or Sephora giveaways. The last box I received had 2 full size products - one being a absolutely horrible lipstick, formula & color are atrocious and a full size hair rubberband item. Everything else was tiny. You have to cancel by the 15th of the month, but my boxes have come on the 16th or 17th, so even when you realize you want to cancel, you are still locked into another $#*!ty box. They advertise like crazy so they can rope in tons of people, but not worth their hype. I desperately hope that my cancellation goes through. I have since read of many instantces where people are continually charges after cancelling & have a difficult time getting their money back as their customer service is atrocious.

The products were okay. (After several attempts to find out why I didn't receive any boxes but was charged for two!) Several hour long waits and being hung up on. Boxes are on their way. I have cancelled. I should have listened to warnings. What a mess! Boxycharm is the way to go! Better products and issues are solved much easier.

I subscribed to this box about a year and a half ago, and at the time, every subscriber received the same items. I subscribed for three or four months, and unsubscribed when I realized I wasn't using most of the items because they just weren't for me. I thought about subscribing recently because I wanted to try the Nuxe shimmering body oil, but wanted to check to see if they'd had any complaints about customer service, etc., which is what I normally do before subscribing to a box. I ended up finding so much negative feedback from customers, I decided to write this review so people who are thinking of subscribing are informed of other's experiences. I looked at Better Business Bureau, and many complaints are fairly recent, and most are about being charged fraudulently for subscriptions after canceling, and then not being able to get in touch with the company for a refund. I also read an article on a website called The Drum about the managing director of Glossybox saying that the customer isn't always right. It really speaks volumes about their customer service in general. If you look at their social media, there are barely any comments on any of their posts on Instagram or Twitter, which, to me, points to deletion of negative comments. If you look at their boxes reviewed on subscription review websites, many of the comments from subscribers say that they received a different, lower value box than other people, which really turns me off the box entirely (as if the other problems weren't bad enough). You may sign up for this box and be taking a huge risk with your money. In their terms and conditions for canceling, listed on their website, it says you have to call them to cancel. This is very difficult, when according to complaints on the BBB, they do not respond to calls or messages on social media. Also, if the managing director claims the customer isn't always right, would your complaints fall on deaf ears if you managed to get in touch with them?

Unscrupulous
July 27, 2016

I signed up on their three-month promotional price offer, and they charged my card twice within four days... and sent me the prior month's box and within days the current month's box. I guess their promos are how they clear out old merchandise. I received a lip gloss tube that was so sticky it seemed like outdated product. Most of the products were sample sizes and only one was was they call something like a "deluxe" sample. The others were the size a dept. store cosmetics counter would give you for free. In fact, most dept. store cosmetic companies give better samples. I've already cancelled and am fearing I'll have to fight them as so many others here have had to. I regret I didn't do more research on them before giving them my money. Oh, they advertise what they call "spoilers" on the upcoming boxes. These are usually something really desireable. In both boxes I've received so far, I did not get the nice items. At first I thought it was because I signed up at a promotional price but on another website a subscriber who paid full price for a full year sub complained she didn't get the nicer products either. So they lead you on and then don't deliver. Nice idea for a business but this business is unscrupulous.

I was a huge fan of glossybox in the U. S for all of 2015 and for a few months in 2016. Starting in April glossybox started to ship their boxes unsealed, in unsealed shipping containers, containing unsealed products. The items can easily be tampered with or sampled before they arrive to my address. I have contacted glossybox and they will not seal the boxes any longer. I guess shipping tape is to costly to invest in.

Glossybox offered me a complete replacement but the replacements also came unsealed and were not tamper resistant. I sadly canceled my subscription because I can not justify paying for items I am to uncomfortable to use due to the lack of any tamperproof seals.

I had glossybox for about about 6 months and then I cancelled and but they continued to charge my account for months. I had to call my bank to make it so they couldn't access my checking account. Totally corrupt company. And don't even try to call their customer service number because nobody is there to answer it.

They will auto renew your subscription - no notice it's up for renewal - and charge your card $222 without warning. IF you don't catch this in time they WILL NOT refund your money back. So if you want to do business with them, do so with this warning. They will charge your card every year! And their customer service line is non-existent - no one answers.

Customer service?
December 23, 2015

They charged my card, and then cancelled my subscription before giving me the box I PAID FOR because I didn't want to buy a second box?!? I'm pretty sure that's theft?

Not worth it.
December 14, 2015

I had a certificate I bought from Rue la la for 6 months. They messed up my orders and charged my card and the certificate, took weeks to fix. The items sent were worthless, ugly colors I will not use and repeat products that do the same thing, not to mention tiny... my subscription finally stopped and I was happy its over. Now they charge my credit card for an other 6 months subscription without my authorization. When I tried calling there is no customer service, only email and they answered that by getting the first 6 moths I have authorized them to continue unless I cancel. I did not know that and will contest with my card. What a ripoff they now charged me for an other 6 months.

Fun to try new products.
October 15, 2015

I've received Glossybox subscriptions for four months now and have enjoyed most of the products. The products are always worth more than the monthly subscription price. The few I knew I wouldn't use I gave away. The only complete miss was an orange lipstick I received. Who wears orange lipstick anyway. A couple of the products are so good I ordered more.
