Fingerhut, on the other hand, did provide written warnings.

UPDATE (10/5/2016):

Things have changed a bit in the past few years. Gettington's interest rates and prices have gone up quite a bit, so I've pretty much stopped using them.

I don't think they're a bad store. All the orders I placed were handled well except for a few that were delayed by FedEx SmartPost, which really isn't Gettington's fault. SmartPost delivery always sucks where I live. But with the increases in both pricing and interest, Gettington is just not competitive anymore.

ORIGINAL REVIEW (6/26/13):

I don't have extensive experience with Gettington, but the orders I have placed have been processed promptly and delivered within the time frame promised.

I have only had one occasion to call their customer service department, and it was not because of a problem on their end. Briefly, where I live, we don't have carrier route delivery, so everyone has a PO box. But I ordered an item too big to be delivered to the PO box, and my 911 address (the closest thing we have to "street addresses" here) wouldn't validate in their system, so I had to call them.

The call was answered promptly, and the lady who answered (1) was American, and (2) immediately understood my problem. She entered a manual override for the shipping address and gave me free shipping on the order -- which was quite a bit due to the item's weight -- to compensate me for the slight inconvenience of my having to call them.

So truly, I have to say that I have no complaints about Gettington. Yes, their prices are a bit high (though much lower than, for example, Fingerhut); and yes, their interest is a bit high. But they also take chances with people whose credit is less-than-perfect, which is more than can be said of most retailers nowadays; and they tell you the exact amount your order is going to cost (including financing), based on your payment selection, before you even submit it. That's pretty honest, ethical, and transparent, in my opinion.

And by the way, no, I don't work for Gettington, nor do I have any financial interest in the company.

I should have checked all the negative comments about Gettington before I purchased a laptop from the company (I relied on a friend's suggestion to buy from them ONLY because I was able to pay on credit).

When the laptop arrived, I was unable to use headphones, so I IMMEDIATELY returned it and, yes, they did replace it. BUT, that was the only good thing they've done! After 2 years, the replacement laptop needs a new motherboard! Twice I wrote to the principal of Gettington and to the Executive VP, COO and CDO of its parent company, Bluestem Brands, Inc. and received absolutely no response whatsoever!

After 3 weeks of not receiving a response, I filed an online report with the Better Business Bureau. And, lo' and behold, I received a response from Gettington.com. Basically, the company took absolutely no responsibility for providing me with another defective product and merely repeated its 90-day warranty and stated I should contact Dell directly. In that I had previously owned a REFURBISHED Dell that worked perfectly for 5 years, I stand by my assertion that Gettington.com's computer products are not up to par, whyich is probably why they have such good prices. No, I'll NEVER buy ANYTHING from Gettington again or it's sister company Fingerhut, which are both owned by the same parent company Bluestem Brands, Inc. I should have researched online before buying from Gettington because I would not have done so due to the MANY, MANY, MANY complaints from its customers. Perhaps, if people stopped buying from them altogether, they'd start treating their customers better.

I have been a customer of Gettinton for atleast 4 years and all I have to say is, PEOPLE WAKE UP, THEY ARE THE BIGGEST RIP OFF ONLINE STORE!

Gettington is a online store that preys on people with bad/low credit and then gives them credit to make money with a very high interest and high monthly payments which is not up to payment standards. Additionally, their so called "Sale" is all bogus! Their prices are already jacked up way too high (above standard market) and they say certain percentage off, which is all lie. People, you could find better, newer products and cheaper deals else where, if you are smart. They also have electronics and computers that are outdated or older models which they sell at newer model's prices!

If you shop with Gettington, you must be a non-intelligent person who like to throw their own money away. After couple of my own deep research of me being a Gettington customer, I have seen that they really do RIP their customers off. One advice to all, if you see something you like at Gettington, research the product, do comparisons of prices and you will see it for yourself that Gettington has older models with new model's prices, plus they have inflated pricings too. RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING FROM GETTINGTON!

Way over priced

Compare prices on other web sites first. For the most part Gettington is selling the same product for almost twice the amount. WTF?

Pricing scam

This has got to be the worst on line company I have ever dealt with. I made an order with them and it arrived with pieces missing. Mistakes happen and I wasn't too concerned. I called customer service but before I got to talk to a person I was put through a series of enter this number, enter that number, etc etc with their computerized phone system. Then it asked me what my call was about and it gave me a number of categories to choose from. Unfortunately none of them was "make a complaint". After lowering my IQ and elevating my blood pressure I finally got past the phone system and got to talk to a person. This person was the antithesis of customer service and wasn't at all concerned with my problem and eventually agreed to send me the missing parts. I asked that they be expedited (the parts were for a heater and it was very cold) but this "no service" person wouldn't do that so I agreed to regular shipping. I was unhappy but at least something was being done. The next day I get an email from *******@fingerhut.com telling me that the part wasn't missing and that I was assembling the item wrong. I went back to the assembly instructions and closely examined the parts that did arrive and made sure that the parts were in fact missing. I responded to the email and even furnished photos of what I received showing the item was incomplete. To date I have not heard back from these folks so I decided to write a review of this terrible service on Site Jabber. I should have looked there before I made my order. Gettington has the worst reviews I have ever read on a company (that was still in business). I have no doubt that these guys will be out of business soon.

I just want to say that I have been with Gettington since 2016, I have ordered and received undamaged and working equipment worth several thousand dollars.
I got a notice in August of 2019 that they (Gettington) would close my account due to inactivity if I didn't buy something and use this account, I liked Gettington to this point, so I wanted to keep them and use their credit and buy something just to keep the account active, so I ordered a solar welcome bear for our new home, ordering went fine, shipping went fine, I received the solar bear, kept him boxed up till we moved to our new home.
Once we got moved in I opened the box, nothing noticeably damaged, however, there were no instructions, but its not hard to figure out. I put him out in direct sun, waited till dark, went to turn it on by pressing the button on the bottom of the bear, remember, no instructions, and nothing happened, so I thought maybe it needed more time in the sun.
I left the bear out one more day in the sun, tried to turn it on again that night by pressing the only button on the thing, and once again nothing.
So I contacted Gettington customer service and was told to ship it back to them, at my cost, they would send out a new one, at my cost. So this solar bear was now going to cost me more in shipping ($45) than the original cost of the bear ($38).
So I called customer service and politely asked them to close my account, there is no reason why I should have to pay for shipping back defective merchandise and pay to have the replacement sent to me.
Gettington could have saved me as a customer if they would have taken responsibility for this, but it seems that in this new era, they could care less about customer service, their motto is NEXT CUSTOMER, P**S on the last one.
If you want great customer service, free shipping go to Ebay, they offer credit, and yes most of all GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, unlike Gettington.
All I can say is good bye.

I have been A CUSTOMER SINCE DECEMBER 2012 bought several items always pay my bill on time now i order 3 items 2 of which were for a benefit for someone who has brain cancer i moved to a different apartment in the same adress changed my apartment number online and ordered my stuff got the order conformation and emails that said my order would be shipped however when i checked the next day 1 item had been shipped when the others had been cancelled icalled and they said the order was cancelled due to suspiciuos activity on my account because i changed apartment numbers on my account i assured them it was me and asked them to ship my order they asked me questions about myself and my account which i answered they told me that i had to mail a copy of my drivers license and utility bill to them to prove that i moved and they wound not ship until i did i asked them why i got the account i didnt have to show proof of were i lived and told them to cancel to 2 orders that didnt ship the 1 order that did ship the deliverly driver was walking to my door when he got a call not to give the package and i lost that 1 too its terrible that i have ordered and payed off several things with this company and always pay my bill i will never do business with them again
