My dryer stopped working inside my one year warranty period I contacted them and they have now drug their feet to the point of out of warranty and are trying to make me buy a new dryer instead of replacing the piece of crap I purchased. Customer service has been terrible communication has been terrible and this company is terrible. DO NOT BUY GE. TERRIBLE COMPANY.
This is no question but a declaration. I own many GE appliances including a GSE25GYPFCFS fridge. With this fridge, I am barred from buying water filters without the RFID chip which turns OFF all water and ice when the chip is not there. In addition, these filters are over twice the cost for the same filtration system. To top that off, I was promised free shipping with a promo code on parts and accessories that does not work. Unless this restriction is removed from my fridge where I can buy water filters without a chip, I will NEVER buy ANY GE appliance again.
With regret, I bought a GE Profile dishwasher. After a year of very limited use, a serious malfunction developed. It took three weeks to get a Tech Rep out and another five weeks to get the parts in. GE used to be an American business institution beyond reproach. No longer. It's now owned by the Chinese, managed by the Chinese and operated in typical Chinese fashion using low quality parts and no communication. I have $1200 invested in the GE Profile dishwasher……What junk. What a waste. What a fraud. Now you know….FOREWARNED IS FOREARMED. IF YOU BUY FROM GE, THEN YOU ARE BUYING FROM THE CHINESE AND YOU ARE SUPPORTING THE CHINESE WHO ARE UNDERMINING AMERICA AT EVERY GIVEN OPPORTUNITY.
I purchased a new GE washer and dryer (GTD84GCPNDG) in February and started having problems with its heating in mid May. It took 2 weeks to finally contact a person and get a call back. I finally got a service tech. To look at it on 6/11. The diagnosis showed it needed to components replaced and 1 was on back order. I have called 3x since then and the entire time didnt get 1 update on the parts from GE. We are now entering week 12 and we STILL have a broken dryer. This rant will be echoed on social media sites and in any on-line ratings I can find as there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for this HORRIBLE customer service!
I understand why the average rating for GE is one star. If no stars was an option, I would have selected it. I moved into a brand new home with brand new GE Profile appliances. The vent hood came with a remote. After determining it wasn't the battery I called GE customer care. A GE tech came out and determined the remote was bad and had assigned me a case number and referred it to GE customer care. He indicated I that customer care would be contacting me in a couple of days, but if not to call them. After a few days went by I called and was on hold for 30 minutes. When I finally got through to someone I was told that the remote had been discontinued and there wasn't a substitute. One year old appliance that is no longer supported. Because I hadn't noticed that the remote was bad within my 7 day grace period I was SOL and offered a hundred dollars as compensation. I politely, at first, said I wasn't interested in the $100, I wanted a replacement. Which escalated to take it or leave it. I am done with GE products and customer service. Spend your money elsewhere if you can.
Recently purchased a new GE Refrigerator from Home Depot. Upon delivery I inspected the unit and did not see any issues. On the second day after delivery, one side starting bowing and warping. I contacted GE Cares from the owners manual, and after an appointment was set for a service tech to come out they tried to charge me a $99 service fee for a brand new appliance that is of course under warranty. After arguing with the customer service rep for 10 minutes, she finally relented and agreed to waive the fee. The service tech came out and said that the issue is most likely caused by improperly applied insulation and that nothing could be done to repair it. The tech also stated that I would be contacted for follow up but all I received was an automated call asking if my appliance was running. I next contacted Consumer Affairs at GE, the rep proceeded to tow the company line and state that this is a cosmetic issue and that this type of issue is not covered by GE. Despite reminding the rep that GE manufactured the product, the rep was insistent that GE has no liability and the rep stated that Home Depot is responsible for any issues since they obtain the units from GE. This is also not the first time I have had problems with a GE product. The policy of GE is crystal clear: They do not care about their products after they are sold, and they will not follow up or back up their products if any issues arise. My advice: Look elsewhere to manufacturers who have a good track record of supporting their products.
This washer is horrible. No matter what kind of load you put in it goes off balance. Doing towels is impossible. We have leveled it and it still goes off balance. I DO NOT recommend this washer.
We bought a Lennar home in 2017 that came complete with GE appliances for the kitchen and laundry. We have already had to have the washing machine replaced, the dishwasher replaced, the fridge repaired, and the range repaired. They charge $124 just to come look at it, and this is not applied to your repair work. The washing machine and dishwasher were replaced (for better appliances) because the repairs were going to be 60-70% the cost of a new unit.The stove needed a gas valve replaced because one of the control knobs wouldn't turn at all (thank goodness it was in off position). It was installed off-center but still worked. Not even a year later and the same part went out. I am calling to schedule service. I can schedule online but I want to explain the circumstances to see if there is anything they can do to bring the cost of the parts/repairs down. I have been waiting for over 50 minutes for someone to take the call. The techs are very nice courteous, but the quality of service and product are lacking.
My husband and I bought a GE washer and dryer, at the time we were living in an apartment complex so we didn't have to use it till a month later. When we tried to use the washer, it didn't work. GE sent someone from a company they contract for warranty purposes and the technician called GE and was told that it was probably the accelerometer, the part was ordered and three weeks later the technician came back to fix the problem and was then told by someone at GE that now the problem is the inverter board. The technician also mentioned to me that GE prefers to throw large amounts of money trying to fix an appliance by ordering parts instead of just replacing the appliance. Again, out washer never worked, it was NEW. So I try to call their 1800 number and they transfer me to consumer affairs who leave me on hold for more than an hour at which point I have to hang up because I have actual work to do. Bottom line is that not even their customer service people can help you when you have an issue. I regret purchasing anything GE... never again and will tell everyone I know about my experience so they don't buy GE either.
I never ever will buy GE again. Their service is terrible. I had this bad experience many times with GE. Their customer service and repair services are the WORST.
I bought a GE top loading washing machine 4 years ago, for $1200. Today, I had to buy a new washer. 4 years old, and too much money to repair. What a rip-off. I will NEVER buy GE again.
I purchased GE top-load digital washing machine in early 2019. It is a large capacity, however, will only fill to approximately one-third of the tub with water. I have put clothes in this washing machine and set it on " autofill. " it should automatically add adequate water. Believe me when I tell you that the top of the clothes won't be submerged in water. If you want more water you must stand there as it will add only one gallon at a time after you push a button. So if you want to add another three gallons of water you will be standing there for like 10 minutes while it fills 1 gal, push the button, 1 gal, push the button, one gallon, push the button. So on and so forth. This machine while two and a half years old is starting to rust around the seams. This machine easily goes out of balance. The lid lock takes 2 minutes to unlock if you want to throw something else into a load of wash. So... Again you are standing there forever just to throw an additional item into your wash load. This is the biggest disappointment I have ever experienced. I wanted to buy American that's why I bought GE. As I understand it they aren't even made in America. I'm not positive about that but that is what my research turned up.
GE APPLIANCE customer service is HORRIBLE! My REFRIGERATOR is ONLY 3 months old! I contacted the BBB and made a formal complaint! AWFUL! They are so awful! They are horrible! The wait on the phone to even talk to someone has cost me 72 hours of my life! Guess what? I'm still waiting on the phone while I write this and while I wrote the formal complaint with the BBB! Do your self a favor do not buy GE!
After 2 years our washing machine dies and service department couldn't diagnose the first 2 service calls, we are going on a month of HAND washing our clothes. Never will we buy ge product again!
Bought the washer not even 1 year yet, a few weeks ago the washer will not spin or drain, called on June 5 to set up a repair on June 8 no one showed so called again turns out the lady never booked the repair ok so I made another repair appointment for June 12 today I received a text saying they couldn't cause they had no technician scheduled for that day... what a mess I WILL NEVER BUY A GE APPLIANCE AGAIN
I'm writing this as I'm really upset. We purchased a GE Profile Smart Vent. BOTH were defective, BOTH times we contacted GE and they scheduled a 3rd party to come check out our smart vent. BOTH times the 3-party said that WE had to pay when GE Customer Service said that it was covered under warranty. BOTH times when we called to complain that we had to pay, they gave some excuse such as the agent should have transferred you over to blah blah and made a note of blah blah. They DID NOT apologize NOR remedied the situation. DO NOT BUY ANY GE PROFILE OR GE appliances unless you're willing to pay out of pocket to have them fixed when it should be covered under warranty!
I have been on hold for over 1hr 20 min still have not answered the phone I purchased a new fridge that does not cool at all this is the worst customer serves ever I wouldn't buy from them
We purchased a GE Cafe induction stove in May, 2022 and on Dec 9,2023 the cooktop stopped working completely. We scheduled service and the tech came out fairly quickly. After diagnosing the issue we were told we had to replace parts which with the service charges total $1,200. I was shocked that a one and a half year old stove would need a major repair. We scheduled the repair, which the tech said would take a week. A week later We stayed home waiting for the tech that never came. After calling the GE customer service to find out where the service person was, I was told a part that was needed had not come in. However, no one bothered to inform us! We scheduled service for Dec 29th. On Dec 29th we waited around all day and no one showed. I called again only to discover that the part needed isn't expected to be available until Feb 12th! This means we are without a stove for two months. How can GE market products and not stand behind them? Why not have parts available for their recent products? The lack of reliability of this stove, the lack of communication from customer service, and no offer of relief for our situation has left us with no choice but to share our negative experience with others. I will never buy GE products again.

1 week after delivery it started dropping screws out. Come to find out the dryer had been dropped although the box was in good shape, service tech came out and order a top for it. He had to straighten out some of the sheet metal with a hammer to be able to put the top on. 8 months later he returned to repair a electrical wire which caused the dryer to stop heating. He spliced a wire instead of replacing the harness and installed another heating element. He also showed me that the drum was warped. We purchased GE because we thought they would take care of the customer. I have requested a replacement of the dryer which We are still waiting on instead of just patching it up. We were upgrading our appliances starting with the washer and dryer. I don't think we will replace the other appliances with GE. Ge don't take care of the customer like they should. With the Chassie warped I don't see this dryer lasting at all. My Wife is afraid to use it. She is afraid it is going to catch the dryer and the house on fire. GE make this right. We didn't buy a used dryer we want a new one that we paid for! If there was a lower review star like 0 thats what it would get.
Delivery guys were to lazy to take doors off of my refrigerator to haul away and bring my new refrigerator. Now I'm inconvenienced and have to wait longer for my next delivery.

Answer: Yes. I have repeatedly experienced this problem for the past 5 years on my 5 year old GE Refrigerator. Using your fist or a mallet, strongly tap on the fan's surround to break ice free. It will quiet down. However, a quality appliance would not require this type of user intervention. If it makes you feel better, I built a new house with all new GE appliances ( because we liked the slate color) and every single one has issues and has been a profound disappointment. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy GE. We learned the hard way.
