GE Appliances Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from product quality issues and inadequate customer service. Common complaints highlight frequent appliance failures, particularly with dishwashers and microwaves, and a lack of effective support during repair processes, leading to frustrating delays and poor communication. While some customers have had positive experiences with other GE appliances, the prevailing sentiment reveals a deep disappointment with the reliability of products and the company's responsiveness. This suggests a pressing need for improvement in both product durability and customer service practices to restore consumer trust.

Complete Junk!
June 23, 2020

Bought a top of their line double oven in November 2019. In the first 6 months failed three times (completely died). They replaced internal parts although they tried to blame poor installation even though THEIR technician re-did the installation the second time. GE refuses to get this junk out of my house and replace it of refund the price.
Since they sold out to a Chinese firm, the quality of their products has sunk to oblivion! Will NEVER buy another GE product.

Poor
June 19, 2020

You can't believe how poor their services are. I sent my request for the parts about two months ago and didn't receive yet. They even don't realize how can someone survive without an electric range and refrigerator for two months. I think they need to change their business to another where their services are not much required by the society. I wish I would not have bought their products. Very poor quality of their appliances and customer services even worse than that. I am very much dissatisfied.

A "NO STAR" REVIEW
June 19, 2020

I am in the property management business and will NEVER use GE appliances again. Example:
A refrigerator purchased in August 2018, one year warranty, has a compressor failure in June 2020. Tenant occupied with a family and need of quick service or replacement. Not available for over a week. STOVE: Tenant occupied and in need of prompt service. Came out in a few days, but parts not available for a few weeks. As a manager, my choice is simple. Purchase new units rather than putting my tenants to a hardship. NOT GE! Understand it is now an overseas product/service.

We owned a GE Cafe 36" gas cooktop for 2 1/2 years. We liked it a lot until it massively failed. First one and then another valve froze. In one case the burner was on and I had to use pliers to turn it off. After spending $260 on a service call replacing both valves, we immediately smelled gas and had to disconnect the cooktop. GE basically said too bad for us, it was past the 1 year warranty. It's one thing to hide behind a short warranty for a normal repair, and we scheduled and paid for the service call ourselves without question. A total failure is quite another thing. Terrible customer service.

Never buy GE again
June 17, 2020

I have bought 2 GE appliances and will never buy a product of their's again. First purchase was a range. Used it on second day and it burnt a hole through the side of the range and into my cabinets. They covered my counter tops but refused to cover my cabinets because the range covered it up. Which was asinine! 2nd bought a washer and after 1 year and 4 months the control panel will not work! So of course it's going to cost us a fortune to have it fixed or have to buy a new one. Customer service is useless and could care less the amount of money I have spent on them only to be screwed by them! I am done with GE! So much for trying to go with American Products!

GE Customer Service
June 16, 2020

We built a new home in 8/19. Much to our dismay, the builder only offered GE appliances. We had a bad experience with a GE appliance in the past so we went with the most expensive offered, the Profile series. Nine months into our new home, the microwave push button to open the door broke (with food stuck inside). I was only able to schedule an appointment through an automated system. Days later, repairman breaks door trying to get food out. Parts were ordered and new date was set for one week later. Day before that appointment, I got a call canceling my appointment due to the part being on backorder. The entire call took 57 minutes. New appointment was set for an additional week. Again, appointment canceled and part was ordered from third party. Third appointment was a repeat yet again (but without a call and with repairman showing up). The rep did say she would send $70 for us to buy a small microwave while waiting. We are now at three weeks without our microwave being fixed and I have spent HOURS on hold trying to get to a resolution. Last representative asked why I even made an appointment if I didn't have the parts. What! They have scheduled the appointments. I asked to talk to a supervisor but then was told it would be 24-48 hours before someone could call me back. The rep said this is the timeframe they "quote" for a callback but she didn't know when anyone would actually call. No idea how much longer we will have to wait-it seems we are at their mercy. When buying new appliances in the future, we will ask who services their warranty! Either way, we will never buy GE appliances again.

Moved into a newly constructed home with a new GE Monogram built in oven in Feb., 2020. Used the oven one time in March. On Apr 10 used "Clean" setting to clean oven. After 1 hr oven beeped & an error code was flashing. Manual said to unplug oven; hard to do with a built in so we turned off circuit breaker & called service. Could not touch oven without gloves it was so hot. Didn't unlock for 7 hours at which time it finally cooled down. After several service calls & waiting for parts, oven repaired May 11. Attempted to use oven May 27; no heat. After numerous calls to GE finally got a call back from Customer Relations; a service tech came out June 14. Same tech that did initial repair. He sees "melted wires"... in an oven that doesn't heat. He will order parts. I call Customer Relations and speak to Frank. I want a new oven. It is a flat NO. They will repair not replace. No further discussion. DO NOT buy a GE oven. Have you seen their stock? They may be going out of business soon I should think.

The wait time for them answer a phone call is usually over an HOUR. They also occasionally hang up on you after a really long time period of waiting for someone. The people who do answer don't know what to do when i tell them my issue. I have been calling them for 4 days straight and nothing has happened. They are TERRIBLE with providing ANY support.

Terrible customer service/repair services. They scheduled me for repairs with a company that wasn't even in business anymore. I only had the dryer 40 days before it stopped working. Customer Service transferred me around to different people for 2 hours with still not result. Do yourself a favor and purchase another brand.

The newest FE Washer and Dryer were delivered damaged! So the quick fix was to inspect the exterior for dent and scratches.
GE allowed me a $150 deal to except the ding on face of dryer unit.
Within an hour of the delivery truck leaving the interior glass of the dryer shattered.
GE originally start a claim to replace the broken door.
36 days later they have informed me that they cannot get a replacement part and that I would have to trade my new unit in for less than half price and purchase a new one.
They now are claiming that I broke the door!
This fight is still on going and someone might be getting hurt through this idiotic stupid game that they are playing. Be aware of GE's claims department involving Alexander and Star!

We are so upset with GE! We have been without a washer/dryer for 2 months and never found out until the day they were suppose to deliver, then told it was on back order a 3rd time when I decided to call 2 days before the 2nd delivery date and was on phone for 2 hours to find that out. So upset as we moved away from family and do not like using laundry mat during COVID. GE is terrible and has never attempted to call us about the back order. And I'm told the washer/dryers are already claimed for tomorrow. You would think with a 3rd back order, our name would be on one of those. Looking for another washer/dryer and if I knew this 2 weeks ago, I could of canceled sooner and got one elsewhere

I purchased a GE dishwasher model GDF645SMNES, front control. I am not at all satisfied with the control panel on this dishwasher. The buttons light up at the slightest touch, yet it is very difficult to select cycles or turn the dishwasher on. The first time I attempted to use this dishwasher, nothing at all happened. It would not start. The instructions provided in the quick start manual were useless. I called GE for help and the technician that was sent informed me that I needed an updated computer application program. I had to wait another week for this and have the technician return. I was tied up waiting for the technician to arrive during the 11 am to 11:59 pm window. No one arrived! After waiting another couple of days to have the program uploaded, I got the same results - difficulty selecting a cycle and starting the dishwasher. After the third call for service on this brand new dishwasher, I am completely fed up. I have to push the buttons very hard to get anything to happen. I requested to have a replacement dishwasher and I have been told that the dishwasher is repairable. I have been unable to operate this dishwasher without a problem and I have been placed in a loop between the protection plan people and GE with neither being willing to replace this dishwasher. I was told during my third call that my complaint is "buyer's remorse". DO NOT purchase this dishwasher. By the way, I discovered that the protection plan I purchased for $115.00 does not include replacement and GE and Home Depot Protection are one and the same. This explains why it has been useless to complain since there appears to be no incentive to replace a defective product or respond to a legitimate product complaint in a satisfactory manner. Shame on you GE!

I bought a fridge to match the profile appliances in our kitchen and regret regret regret. The shelves seem too small for the holders, the ice maker sucks, and the water dispenser leaves a lot to be desired. I have fixed the ice maker twice, the profile wall microwave 3 times for the exact same switch, the down draft hood twice, and finally the cooktop twice and it finally caught fire this week! I called the factory and had everything fixed through them which amounts to a small fortune and of course GE would never offer replacement, or free repair for any of the calls. They did offer me 10% off another microwave, but it's part of a wall oven and was a couple grand. Absolutely horrid customer service. I began ordering parts on ebay as I knew how to fix the issues by watching the repair person. The only thing that has not broken so far is our dishwasher, I'm waiting for that one any day now. Never EVER will I buy another GE anything.

Purchased a VERY expensive GE induction stove. Noted an aberration upon installation and the installer said he'd hit a key by mistake. Not true - the keypad went totally crazy as soon as he left and is still beeping at me as I write this -- 2 weeks later. GE asked for a review and I offered one that said we were working on a resolution of a serious problem, and they rejected it because they didn't want me to refer to customer service work outs. So I reposted to just report the way the stove operated. They refused to post that as well. As far as I see it, they cull out most of the negative reviews. Doggone stove just beeped at me again.

I bought a whole kitchen full of high end appliances. I pre-qualified for a $1000 rebate. I triple verified that I would get the rebate. After paying thousands for the appliances, I registered for the rebate. I had to upload photos multiple times until finally I got the approval for the rebate.

The rebate never came. I called back so many times. I called the rebate center. I sent confirming information. NOTHING. THESE PEOPLE STOLE $1000 from me.

Worst products
June 5, 2020

We purchased brand new GE Appliances October 2017. Did not take out extended warranty as l thought with new appliances, l wouldn't need. BIG MISTAKE. Our dishwasher broke down within a few months. Had it serviced, and broke down again. Replaced dishwasher, only to have to replace a 2nd time.
Outside by side fridge freezes up, and my husband has to unplug, let it sit for a few hours, and I starts again.
My washer had issues one month after purchasing. It just stops won't do anything. Let it sit and let it think it's going through a cycle and eventually it starts back up. Been doing this since day 1. Then this past week it just decides to work. Of course all of my warranties are finished. Had a local service company come out, and it's the computer system and the lock mechanisms. Apparently, he has replaced a lot of these computers in this machine. I called GE today and told the guy how disappointed we are with all machines. Told him, our old machines were over 20 yrs old and still being used by a relative. Of course, l get one explanation after another. Told the guy how disappointed l was with the appliances and the lack of empathy for consumers. I told him, as Seniors We don't have extra monies to repair these substandard machines.
It's so sad, that after 20 yrs and a new home, We decide to put out the monies for 5 new appliances, only to get garbage.

Had the sixth repair (since 11/2019) done yesterday on my 2 1/2 year old GE washer, model # GTW330ASK1WN. Parts replaced so far include a capaciyor, motor, lid lock and yesterday, the 'brain' but it's still NOT working properly. Thank goodness I bought an extended warranty and the piece of junk will be replaced with another brand washer. I'm done with GE.

I have never ever had to deal with a company that is so unprofessional. How do I give them a no star rating? The "manager" from mabe blatantly kept lying to me. 4 times technicians were sent to check on the machine from 2 different companies, who in front of me shared their finding and yet, she wouldn't take any action but state she's received nothing. I would keep emailing and calling GE and she'd call back eventually, never ever listening to a word I'd say, but in reply would say that GE hasn't received any information from the technicians. This was so, so frustrating to hear her lie straight out. Finally just after having the washing machine for 4 months in use, I had to purchase another washer and guess what, it certainly wasn't a GE! I even asked if I could speak to her supervisor to which she said, she is the supervisor. Great! It was hopeless. How does a company like GE get away with this? I work so hard to earn my living but I had to dish out twice for a functioning machine. Oh, I even posted stuff on Facebook to which I'd get the generic message: so sorry to hear that. Please tell us about the serial #, etc. What BS
