GameStop Sucks!

Coming from someone who's been doing business with GameStop for years and put up with A LOT OF BS from them, I can honestly and confidently say that if you're a Gamer, DON'T BUY FROM GAMESTOP!

GameStop is basically a Pawn Shop for Video Games and Electronics. Even their slogan "Buy. Sell. Trade." is the EXACT SAME THING that Pawn Shops do. Worse than that, whenever you trade stuff in for Cash or Store Credit, you won't get much for it, with or without PowerUp Rewards. In other words, GameStop is ripping you off and taking your hard-earned money and turning around and selling what you just sold to them at higher prices! That's ridiculous and a definite scam if I ever saw one.

Even worse than that, GameStop has sold me defective disks that have nearly crashed my PS3 or a half-broken controller dock. I don't appreciate that kinda shady and unprofessional business from them, especially how long I've been dealing with these people over the years and all the money I've spent at GameStop.

IF I worked for GameStop... Thank God I don't... As a service to the customers, I'd be in the back with a PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii, Wii U, or Switch and testing the games to make sure they work BEFORE they're shelved.

My advice is to buy games digitally or from Amazon or eBay. From people you can TRUST! Not people who are UNTRUSTWORTHY!

Worst customer service

Wow love how it doesn't say what time your customer service line opens it's not listed on the website, not listed when you open a chat, not listed when you call the number just says you are closed. Absolutely the worst customer service on the planet. I will never order anything from GameStop again and I will never buy anything in any of your stores again, I want this message to be addressed by a manager. Friday I got a same day delivery of a refurbished Xbox and it did not work. I tried going to both the GameStop locations in my town and they both said there was some kind of an issue and they I had to wait all weekend long and reach out to you on Monday. The order still says pending and when I try to submit the return online it says it doesn't recognize the order number that it pulls in on its own that comes from YOUR website. You promise "easy returns" and they is clearly and blatantly a flat out LIE! Fix the issue with my order so I can return this broken unit or give me the full credit immediately I've now had to risk my health after having a no contact delivery to go to two stores that couldn't help me because your website and system doesn't work (person at the store is the one that said your online system doesn't work and that I should always buy in store and never buy online because of this very issue) sure would be nice to know what time the phone lines open so I know what time to start calling but your service is so terrible you can't even show what time the lines open. I need a response and I need the credit so I can go to a reputable business and give them my business instead fix it now so I can give you back the junk you sent me.

Still waiting for refund

I ordered a $500+ TV on 11/25/21. The order vanished from freight company between Atlanta and my home. Game Stop said they'd ship another one ASAP - get it in a week! Did not happen: cancelled order on 12/22/21. Today is 1/21/22 and still have not received refund. They say they have to SEND A PAPER CHECK to me and it takes 10 business days, then the line was 25 business days, then the line was "good news... they are going to refund your account within 3 days" which would be 3 days ago. I have yet to receive a refund. Think about that for a second... Game Stop has had my $500+ for approximately 8 weeks and I've nothing to show for it. When speaking with customer service, they cannot get their misinformation/lies straight; when I asked to speak to a supervisor, they say they aren't able to transfer me, but they will call me back - by end of day. Got that misinformation/lie about 5 times; never called back. One of the more interesting lines from customer service was..."have you contacted the freight carrier to find out where the TV is?" WHAAAAT! Since when does the customer have to contact the freight carrier to find out where a purchase is. UNBELIEVABLE! Obviously, my $500+ is being used by GameStop to either pay other customers or to earn some percentage on the money before they refund my account... with a PAPER CHECK!. I'm 66 and even I know that is the most inane way to send a refund in this day of electronic banking. I have disputed this charge with my credit card company today. Will be writing the BBB after this review. The one upside of this ridiculous purchase is I ordered a replacement from Best Buy on 12/22 and received the TV on 12/24. Go figure. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM GAME STOP EVER, EVER, EVER. They are liars and cheats!

If you try to order online at Gamestop, especially during their sales periods, prepare to get your order cancelled. At this point I've made 13 different orders over the course of 4 days. 11 have been cancelled with no explanation, 1 sent, and 1 pending. I've had at 4+ customer service calls to Gamestop (not including the calls to my banks) with a total wait time of ~2 hours (not including the amount of waiting they make you do while you're talking to someone, their system is not very efficient).

The worst part is it takes at least 24 hours (though my most recent one occurred at the 36 hour mark) for your order to process, meaning you will think your order will go through, just to have your hopes dashed. I'd honestly prefer a speedy cancellation over the kind that you wait 12+ hours for, especially since these deals are time sensitive. I know the subject line format for their cancellation email so well at this point because it has ruined my mood many times this weekend.

The most common response they will give is an issue with your bank (not the issue, I've checked). At one point their customer service genuinely said there's nothing we can do, we don't know why your order cancelled, and suggested I use a different card or email. I've used THREE different forms of payment (how many do they expect me to have?) including Paypal. Even when using Venmo through Paypal and paying with my balance (aka no banks required), that still didn't go through. It's also a common response to just purchase it at a physical store but if that was a viable option, why would I have spent so much time trying to order it through the website? Not everyone lives close to your stores.

This has been THE WORST customer experience I've ever had. The customer service is SO UNHELPFUL. If you're going to have an outdated system, at least know what's wrong with it so people can get help. Gamestop is too big of a company to be this incompetent. My experiences in store (back when I lived close to one) was fine but I will try my best to never spend money at Gamestop again after this.

Currently I have $3,370 on hold for trying to make a $305 purchase. Thankfully I don't have any bills that need to be paid at this time while I wait for my two banks to reject these numerous STILL PENDING charges that Gamestop has automatically cancelled the orders for while still claiming the issue is on my financial institution's end. For the average consumer, they would have given up by now. You'd think after putting me through all this, I'd at least get some sort of discount compensation (I feel like this has cut 1-2 months from my life just from the stress and anger) but no, it's clear Gamestop as a corporation does not care about it's customers. I for one have given up on Gamestop. I hope you learn from my mistakes.

GameStop is Horrible

I am beyond irritated with GameStop and honestly utterly confused and pissed off. How is that I place an order and you all take my money and then cancel the order? I spent 24 hours total on the phone with your piss poor customer service only to be told lies and bull$#*! from people who can't even properly command the English language. The countless hours I have spent on this is ridiculous and foolhardy at best! I don't know y'all do customer service in other countries, but in America, this is what the $#*! we don't do. First of all, if y'all were going to cancel the order then y'all should have denied the payment. The money was there, and now the money is sitting in limbo for 3-5 business days, if even that! Secondly, your customer service department are a bunch of LIARS! I was told the order was cancelled because the store didn't have the items I ordered available to pick up a store. I ended up calling the store location and they actually indeed had the very two products I requested in the online order. Then your piss poor service agents tell me that it's a bank issue, when that's not the issue either! I had paid through PayPal and I even was given an authorization code because they informed me that the money was sitting there and GameStop needs to accept or reject the payment. So bottom line here is people are not doing their $#*!ing jobs and this $#*! is beyond ridiculous, and I'm completely done with this company. I will be taking above and beyond legal action and if your company is tanking, I would love to help finish making sure you incompetent sons of $#*!es are taken down and erased from history! This is beyond disgusting and I will be posting this on every $#*!ing review site I possibly can! DO NOT PLACE AN ONLINE ORDER AT GAMESTOP. DO NOT PLACE AN ONLINE ORDER WITH GAMESTOP.
