I am fairly new to this website and am already considering never using it again. I have used the website a few times with success but have twice had problems with the freelancers I have hired off the website. This last one though just did it for me. I need some SEO work done on my website. Instead of opening a project for bidding, I looked around for a freelancers by checking their feedback. I finally decided on one and contacted them ( seoleader1). According to their feedback, everyone raves about how they got good work done and how easy it was to work with this freelancer. He accepted the project right away after agreeing on the terms. He then told me that I need to release a milestone (pay him) before he even starts the job because everybody else that he as worked for had always done it. I was hesitant but finally said fine and went ahead and did it. Little did I know that as soon as you release a milestone, the project is marked as completed. I was concerned but he reassured me that I can trust him to get the work done and his feedback is proof. He then asked me to leave him feedback, that after a project is completed, I only have 5 days to leave feedback, that if we left good feedback for each other, we both would benefit with good reviews on our accounts. That is when i really started getting concerned and said absolutely no way I would leave feedback. I asked when he would be done and he said it would take 3wks. Just before 3wks was up, I contacted the guy to ask how my project was going and he told me that everything was ok and on schedule. A few days after the three week deadline, I contacted him again, he didn't respond for a couple days until after I threatened to contact freelancer. To cut it short. I contacted freelancer to try and get a resolution and all they told me was that its my fault that I released the milestone and there was nothing they could do. Even with evidence that this guy is a scam. Not sure what I will do to get my refund, I guess I am out $80. Be aware of this freelancer if you use that freelancer.com ( seoleader1). Total scam.
A very greteful experience he/she totally helped me out of the situation, in the least time i was helped

Kayla B. Helped me quickly and was very professional. My questions were well understood and related issues resolved quickly.
Very quick, nice and smart! Love her! Kayla B. Is the best ever! She was replying very quick and answer/did what I asked her to do. +5 stars for her!
Experience was good. Salena's support was great. She guided me and helped me to not choose a scam project.
After exhaustively working for the site and delivering the project work on time my payment was detained and illegally and fraudulently snapped out from my balance. This excused with a baseless and misplaced suspicious activity accusation. This infamous dishonest act defamed my person as well as usurped my income infringing on my rights to receive the contributions of my work efforts.
As the excuse they responded, you run the risk that they make you take the fall with the loss if they have a problem with their client payers and by not assuming their responsability dishonestly usurping and looting the money from your balance account.
Here I attach my message communicated to the platform support.
Hi, I want to ask for my 50$ back which I fairly received as contribution for my work in the site. This amound was unfairly and incomprehensively extracted from my balance account on 11 Jun 2018 at 04:57. As user and worker of the platform I want to remark that I fairly earned this money with the sweat of my brow and that I don't accept being bereft of my right to withdraw this salary for external issues or excuses which I don't acknowledge and refute being related to my person. As I don't recognize and admit not being part in any way of any suspicious activity, I claim in my defense my compensation for my fairly and legal work realized for this payment.
Thank you for your attention and hope we can solve very soon this conflict, for the reputation of the site and for me being able to recover trust on the site and therefore being able to work again or consider the platform as a transparent and trustworthy place for taking part in.
Kayla B. Was very helpful and to the point in our discussions. She solved the matter quickly and effectively
The supporter was very helpfull and know what he was talking about, and could help me within short time.
Hi,
Thank you for the quick response and payment guidelines.
Much appreciated.
Jesica was fast, kind, and efficient to answer my questions and after exposing my situation she solved it accordingly.
Answer: It is a PR platform that enables scammers to appear legitimate or verified. Freelancer doesn't care. They get a sizeable commission no matter if the posting is legitimate or not. Example: A fake ebook listing. Needs author to write 50000 words for US$ 2000. Unwitting freelancer bids and is 'awarded project' with message saying hurry up and accept. Once accepted, freelancer takes 'project fee' while you get tied up in their help callcenter trying to recoup not only the fee but potentially the fake employer gleaned from you using their platform. This site will be in the news soon. Trust me.
Answer: Hi Dejan. This happened to me in 2014, I lost a lot of money too, I withdrew the money on a Wednesday after the client had paid me $1000 in full. Then the next day, Thursday, I got a message that my withdrawal request was cancelled and the money reversed back to employer. My account was suspended and when I asked why, I was told that the employer looked like he was fraudulent and that the money might be fraud. Up to date, I am still bitter, angry and sad over that $1000 but I never got it back and Freelancer closed the person's account and that was that. So I hope this answers some of your questions and I am deeply sorry for your loss after such hard work. All the best
Answer: Freelancer.com focused on employer only, they just want as many employer and project as they can regardless of their country, verification status and deposits. However all the restriction is for employee. This is the reason Freelancer didn't stop them to post project without deposit. Almost 90% projects are fake (either posted by freelancer itself or fake/fraud employers). You have to be careful. Keep following things in mind will prevent you from fraud much. 1. Don't work for Employers from India/Bangladesh/Sri Lanka/Nigeria/Israel 2. Don't work for Employers whose name looks like Indian 3. Once the project is awarded to you, don't accept it unless the employer created initial milestone. Wait for at least 12 hours after milestone creation then accept it. 4. Ask for release step by step, don't work on next milestone unless previous is not released 5. Withdraw money from freelancer as fast as you can.
Answer: You can't say its fake but at the same time you can't just trust it fully. My point here is: people do get things done for the price but when it comes to money/payment, you can not trust freelancer. Sometimes it gets reversed from your account and you won't even get a satisfactory reason for it. I suffered a loss of 900 USD. All I get to hear that employer had some account issues and we can not disclose this any further. If you looking to work as a freelancer, go odesk or upwork and any other site first and then freelancer.com. Small incident: I worked for a client, designed the logo got the parent for it. Next day when looged in, my account showed negative balance ( payment reversed). Support: employer have acc. Issues Client: never came back or responded to any mails. Result: I worked and still in debt.
Answer: Dispute it with PayPal! Another beautiful example of why everyone hates Freelancer.
Answer: Freelancer is scam. I have very bad experience recently. "The payments you've received from your employer "-----------" were reversed due to their account issues. As a result, their account was closed" Lost over 800$. Freelancer also keep the fee for this job! Their support never answer. SCAM
Answer: Agree, do not use credit card details - freelancer is a terrible organisation when it comes to finances - they just debit your card at will, no warning, no opportunity to review the transaction, no notification of the charge - you just find out once you get your bank statement. Be very, very wary of this company - not saying their dodgy, BUT they are very devious when it comes to transactions. I think their motto is - "debit any time, just don't tell them and they wont complain"
Answer: Contact Paypal and file a dispute. I got a refund for the monthly amount that they should not have charged me for.
Answer: Good afternoon Rostyslav, unfortunately this has happened to most users of Freelancer including people who have been awarded projects. Ensure that you do not start any work or event accept a project until the following criteria have been met: 1. Project awarded 2. Initial milestone/deposit created 3. Client agrees to release the first payment immediately after you accepting the project. If they are unable to do this, tell then politely that you are unwilling to start on the project and keep looking for honest, legitimate clients. Be careful at all time on this website, even if you do vey thing by the book and the client still doesn't pay, the Freelancer support team will not help you. It is left to you to contact the client and chase the payment even of they delete their account.
Answer: Don't share you card. Use Paypal. First of all don't use freelancer they are scammers.
