Their ticket confirmation number that they sent to my email didn't work. Then they refused to refund the ticket because the movie had already started. Don't use fandango.
Fandango is the scam website. They directed you to a different movie theatre when you buy a ticket and they refused to refund for their website mistakes. PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES AND DO NOT EVER USE FANDANGO FOR PURCHASING MOVIES TICKETS!
I purchased tickets through Fandango. Then when I arrived at the theater and scanned my card at the kiosk, it said transaction could not be processed at the kiosk and to go to the ticket counter. I went to the ticket counter and there was no one there. As it was time for the movie to start, I had to buy tickets at the kiosk. I ended up buying four tickets (two unusable and undelivered) through Fandango and two from the theater directly). When I got home, I tried to request a refund. I couldn't get a refund because the showtime had passed. I chatted with a customer service agent, but Isabelle G couldn't help because "the showtime had passed". First, what was the most logical thing for me to do? Make my kid miss the movie while I try and straighten things out with the theater and your customer service team? No. So really the "after the showtime" policy is a special kind of stupid. Second, why even have customer service if they cannot make judgement calls or escalate. I managed a call/chat center for several years. I can tell you the most effective customer service representatives are empowered and look at issues as an opportunity to build long term relationships with customers. Not to escalate the level of irritation. What is the point if they just repeat the policy that is delivered by the automated responses? It is unhelpful and a waste of time. To be clear I will not use this service again.
We got a Christmas gift card from my sister in law. The 23 % convenience fee is not disclosed. Disingenuous at best. Told my sister in law to not use it again.
I got a fandango gift card for a movie and could not use it at the movie what a crock! I would never buy a gift card for any of my friends Ill just pay cash and take them to see whatever they want. Fandango is just plain BAD BAD BAD TO REDEEM YOUR GIFT HORRIBLE CO STAY AWAY!
Error message that it did not get my information but it did charge my card the gift card so I'm pretty sure it's bad now so I would not recommend getting this as a gift card to anybody that you like
It was allright that my movie wasnt in theaters anymore, but i had to sign up to the website to do the search, and after that i started getting horny local website invitations and after i optedout of that another one sent me my trial subscrition username and password, i think thats corrup, what if I was a minor?
Fandago clean up ur leaks
I tried to purchase tickets for a showing of The Avengers on my birthday to go with my wife and friends. I could have sworn I purchased them for the correct date (opening day), but ended up purchasing them for the night before instead. The purchase time ended up being 5 minutes before the showing*. I realized my mistake but Fandango's policy is to only refund tickets more than 2 hours before the showing so I never had an opportunity to fix it. I called customer service the following day (was closed at the time of purchase) to explain and they refused to do anything about it.
The theatre however was much more amicable to my situation, and honored the tickets anyway after I explained the situation. So kudos to them -- Fandango customer service sure could learn something from them.
* - I know I selected May 1 but I think I had done something in another tab which reset the time in the first one. I'm a senior web app developer and understand how this can happen... but I couldn't have done anything about it. Their web app also never sent me an email confirmation. I know that I checked the spam quarantine (paid spam filtering) and junk mail folder. It just never showed up.
Fandango's hard line posturing to their customers is outdated and wrong. If a customer makes a mistake - ok - but if the site makes the mistake they act like it is still the customers fault. Fandango site sent me to the Esquire theater to Eye in the Sky at 7 PM - the movie I was meeting my friends for. I paid a convenience fee for my convenience because it was sure not to sell out. Upon arriving Fandango booked my ticket for the Esquire in another city. Even though they request to turn location on when your use their site. Location show me in Denver. They would not refund me even though I had to buy another ticket when I got there. The worst was the way their customer service agents on chat acted - why even have a chat? They acted like cold heart-ed robots. They were helpful in closing my account I had for NINE years though (really weird) - Fandango is an outdated corporate culture this is vile to their customers. Yuck - I feel like I have cooties after trying to get this resolved - yuck- yuck - yuck!
Bought 2 x Travel Zoo coupons for "Movie Night for 2 w/$100 certificate Restaurant.com bonus", good for "any Fandango movie tickets including IMAX and 3-D films", "including new releases". When I tried to buy the tickets for a Sunday morning showing of 'Gravity' on opening weekend Fandango site said "unable to process order please try a different showtime". In fact, all the showtimes on Sunday were unavailable, but Tuesday showtimes were all available through Fandango. I phoned the cinema directly and spoke to the manager - they had plenty of tickets for Sunday. After 30+ total min wait Fandango call center they said they were aware of problem - I had to clear my cookies and "Ray" showed me how, and that did work and I was able to purchase the tickets - but WHY would Fandango put a cookie on my computer to block a weekend sale for Regal Cinemas? Then using Fandango charges an extra 'convenience fee' (= more than a third of the price of the ticket!) to use the TravelZoo prepaid ticket... Lucky me - I spent $56 for $30 worth of movie tickets through Fandango!
(PS - the Restaurant.com certificate 'deal' was a total rip-off too but that's a different story.)
I was not able to make the show i bought tickets for. So i got onto my vip account and cancelled my tickets and submitted a refund at 11:34 am. MY MOVIE WAS FOR 12 pm. got on today to customer service because i had not seen a refund and was told since it was after the movie time that they would not honor it and would not refund me my money. Even though i submitted a request on SATURDAY BEFORE THE MOVIE TIME!
I have been a loyal customer and will not continue buying my tickets through them. I will be telling my friends about you stealing my money!
If anyone still watches movies and buys tickets online, please DO NOT use Fandango. Ripped off for nearly $30 for "credit" that I was supposed to get for a future movie.
I got to the movie theater and was confused as to why the computer system could find my tickets. Turns out, Fandango screw up and got me tickets for a theater in Washington DC. I live in Wisconsin.
I requested an exchange because I selected the wrong time. It said 3-5 business days. The show I wanted was selling out quickly so I didn't have time to wait those days. Turns out they processed it while I was buying the new tickets. I requested to just have it refunded instead. I WAITED OVER AN HOUR TO TALK TO SOMEONE. Jaymie was extremely unhelpful and only told me "it was final". Didn't offer any additional help or have an explanation for the 3-5 business days. Just kept repeating that it was final. WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN.
I will never use fandango again.
I typed in the codo movie down town Sacramento, ca and it sold me tickets to another movie theater in another state. No refund... Never again will I buy from them.
I have had an account with FANGOGO for over 10 years -- yet I cannot get tickets -- I have filled in my credit card info 3 times and tried to order tickets that in the past would have take less than 5 minutes -- I am not into 5 trys and a note saying that my account is no good. Thanks FANDANGO --the proverbial F you
Fandango is a horrible company. I used Groupon tickets to go to a movie on my sister's birthday. It ended up we met friends up at AMC and found out that they changed their seating and now you have to reserve all seats. So some of us had pre-purchased tickets and some did not, but all seats were taken except for the first row, which we said we would take. We couldn't even have to those seats because they couldn't refund us for Groupon and Fandango, so they could recharge us at regular price. I was told by the AMC manager that Fandango would refund my money since we were leaving to go to another theatre, so we could sit together.
I called Fandango right away (in the theatre) and sat on hold for 45 minutes on the way to the other theatre, so I hung up when we had to go in for the show. I called back 3 days later, because I work day and night (2 jobs) and they told me that I called an hour later than I said because they go by Eastern time, so I could not get a refund because it was after the show started.
I was told a supervisor would call me back in 20 minutes because she was on break and I never got a call back.
They can eat my $6.18 and I will never use their service or Groupon (if it has to do with Fandango) ever again.
I work in CS too and I understand that rules are rules, except there are actual loop holes in certain circumstances. They can see I never picked up my tickets and used them. They are thieves.
They lost me over $6.18.
I purchased 3D movie tickets on a Thursday for a movie that was coming into the theater Friday. Apparently there was a special showing on Thursday night at the theater I chose and I ended up buying tickets for that day. I didn't realize until I showed up at the theater the next day that my tickets were for the previous nights showing. I called customer service right away and got sent to a supervisor voicemail. No one returned my call. Thinking there would be no problem with fandango being understanding I just went ahead and purchased new tickets and figured I could just be refunded or use a credit towards a different movie. A few days later I received an email saying no refund could be issued because I didn't call prior to the movie. I called back and spoke with a supervisor on the phone and she told me the same thing. Fandango can clearly see that I did not go to the movie! They offered no solution. I have NEVER dealt with any company with this horrible level of customer service. You should strive to make your customers happy not lose their business. I lost $51 which for a single mom is a lot. I will NEVER use this app again nor recommend it.
Received a 25.00 Fandango gift card and decided to use it last night, looked online to see what theater I could use it at that was close by, and found a Megaplex just down the road from my home, went to theater, went to purchase tickets using the fandango gift card, after presenting is to the ticket sales person, they said that I would have to go to fandango's web site and buy them, then the could scan my phone, so I used the card on my smart phone to get the tickets, but they did not even list the movie on the website, so after talking with the ticket sale person the suggested buying tickets to a different movie, then they could refund that movie, and give us tickets to the correct movie so we did that, without the help of this sales staff the whole fandango movie night would have been even worse, and yes Fandango charged an extra 3.00 convenience fee when we bought the original tickets. Fandango SUCKS! And with a 25.00 gift card the movie for 2 of us was 19.00 plus the 3.00 fee, leaves us 2.50 left on the card which is not even enough to pay the next convenience fee so I through the card away, What a joke,
Rude customer service and I wish I had never purchased with them. My car broke down on the way to the theater and I couldn't make it. When I tried to get an exchange or refund they refused.
Answer: Shauna, try Ken's suggestion. After years as a loyal customer & "Fan" of Fandango, I had an issue that should have been easily resolved. When I finally spoke to a live CSR, the response & subsequent email were robotic & useless. I now buy gift cards from the theatres & save my $$ and time. Good luck to you, though!
Answer: You do Julie S., but if you purchase it within 2 hours of the movie you are out of luck and that's what I happened to do. I accidentally chose that same day rather than the next day (Saturday) and since I was within a 2 hour time frame they said too bad. Never will use them again that's for sure. It was an honest mistake and I explained that but the woman on the phone was very nasty.
Answer: I would try emailing them, unfortunately there is no one to call as far as I know. If that doesn't work why don't you try calling a theater near you that takes fandango, ask for a manager. Fandangos customer service is not good so I wish you luck. Thank you for your service, hope this helps Rose
Answer: I didn't wake up with a dead horse in my bed but all other evidence in dealing with Fandango indicate that they are mob-owned. Perhaps the mob has more morals. Maybe not mob-owned. What would be worse than the mob because that's likely who owns them. Difficult question to answer. Best not to do business with them anyway.
