WOW
I can barley afford to take my kids to the movies as is, but to have FanDANGo keep $33, was hard to take. They do not have a refund policy, except that you HAVE to purchase within Two weeks and then send an Email for them to Decide if you get your money back.
I allowed my 14 YO son to set us up for a Movie purchase thru FanDANGo and he mistakenly purchased tickets for a Theater with the correct name, but its in IL and we live in GA. We immediately contacted fanDANGo and found out we lost the money. I had to take the boys to the movie after telling them that we were going to SPLURGE and go to the movies. So the Night at the Movies cost me have my Electric Bill money. I will never do business with fanDANGo again and I wouldn't suggest trying it.
FANDANGO DOUBLE BOOKED MY TICKETS TO SEE CREED 3. THEY SAID BECAUSE IT WAS 20MIN AFTER THE SHOW TIME I COULD NOT GET A REFUND. I SPENT 20MIN ARGUING WITH A COUPLE WHO HAD MY SEATS THEN COMPLAINING TO THE MANAGER AND LOST MY $30 AND DID NOT SEE THE MOVIE
My first time purchasing from fandango NEVER AGAIN. I purchased tickets for a later date and after i made the purchase it showed the date correctly. The next morning when I opened my email to look at the confirmation it showed yesterdays date. I tried to exchange the tickets but the option wasn't allowed. Then customer team is through online messaging that isn't much help, they're just scripted what to respond. Fandango pretty much KEPT MY MONEY and delivered NO TICKETS. TOTAL RIP-OFF!
I purchased with Paypal and have a Paypal card. Instructions said that I could use my card to pick up tickets at theater.
I left my phone home as I always do when going to theater. Upon arrival at theater, the box office said that they could not read a Paypal card. I needed to buy new tickets, but Fandango would refund what I purchased through them. After waiting on hold for 45 minutes with Fandango, guess what-- No refund.
They say it's not their fault the theater could not read my Paypal card. I asked for supervisor, waited on hold AGAIN, only to get voicemail. EVERYONE passing the buck.
Moral: Don't trust a service like Fandango to sell you someone else's tickets, and certainly don't rely on Fandango to have speedy or helpful costumer service. NEVVVVVER AGAIN!
Somehow Fandango moved into the streaming business attached to Roku. Then they started loading my email with promos and then manipulated me into giving them my Credit card info where the service I had on Roku already had it (I had never used it being content with Amazon, Netflix and a couple of other subscription services).
The service offered is a rental fee for a particular title like Amazon offers but now I find that they are trying to leverage me into some other thing called "Ultraviolet." I was made very suspicious when they seemed to be vague as to how this differed from the original and when they neglected to send a promised code to my email.
AND
I had trouble getting to THIS site and staying here... First I picked SiteJabber from what I thought was a search result and went to Fandango then when I CITED SITEJABBER FROM MY BROUSER a box appeared asking for a question or a review and I began this and it took me to Fandango.
We bought our Star Wars tickets in October when they went on sale, got a confirmation email, number, they charged us, the tickets are listed in my purchase history and everything. So tonight, thankfully even though we had reserved seats we decided to get to the theater super early to get snacks and all that. We go to the counter to get our tickets printed and they tell is they "Can't be released". What does that mean? We get sent to the manager. He tells us the same thing, and that we need to contact Fandango. After waiting 40 mintues with us and the manager on hold with them and no answer, the manager kindly gave us tickets for 2 different seats that had not been filled yet near the front. He said he suspected an error on Fandango's part, and that the seats were possibly sold twice. I didn't have any errors or weird refreshing screens while checking out, so I don't see how it could have happened. So we went and sat in our original seats and sure enough people show up with tickets for them. All in all, the guy at Penn Cinema was awesome and we got to see the movie, but it was super inconvenient and shady of Fandango.
I had a gift card, I decided to use. Two senior tickets were 15.00 each while at the theater the cost is 10.50. In addition there is a service charge, What a rip off
I received a Fandango gift card, and was quite excited to use it. When I went to get the code from web site ( which is a big hassle really, why can't you just use it?!) I was charged a Convenience FEE! Really your charging to use an already purchased card, not to mention the fee of the card it's self! Thank goodness this was a gift, and not something I bought! I will NEVER PURCHASE A FANDANGO GIFT CARD AGAIN!
One of my emails to these morons...
I'm a little disturbed that we selected a movie for the 2:30 show, and when I logged in to my paypal to pay, your site automatically picked my seats and movie. Not realizing your site gave us the wrong tickets - we arrived at the theater at 1:45 for the 2:30 showing. After finding out what had happened, I called your help line (it took 5 pain filled mins to go through the options) then explained to the lady that had happened. We weren't looking for a refund - but tickets to the correct show.
After bantering back and forth for 10 minutes or better, she refused to let me talk to a supervisor, nor transfer me to the United States to talk to a better English speaking person. Her explanation of "to keep calling back over and over until I reach a US service person", is utterly silly and shows terrible lack of technology for Fandango.
I will wait for your response, but should we not be able to give us a voucher or refund, I will email the movie studio - Tweet constantly of your service, and FB about your service with discontent. I hope that our communications will be better than the help that was reached on your toll free line.
They responded with a pretty much too bad so sad - and we speak great English. No refund even though there was a mistake.
I CAN'T GET IN TOUCH WITH ANYBODY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO "CHAT" ONLINE WITH OVER AN HOUR WAIT! THEN WHEN I FINALLY GOT SOMEONE, THEY DISCONNECTED ME WHILE I WAS TYPING MY QUESTION. THEY HAVE CHARGED ME FOR TICKETS I DID NOT BUY ON MY AMERICAN EXPRESS AND I CANNOT GET IN TOUCH WITH ANYONE ABOUT IT. THIS IS THE WORST WEBSITE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. IT IS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THROUGH IT. I HOPE TO HECK I GET MY REFUND.
We bought movie tickets for my family and my aunt and uncle and right before the movie began my family's plans changed and because the movie had already began and I COULDNT get in touch with anyone from fandango until the next day they wouldn't even issue me a credit! This is very bad business and I will NEVER use them again for tickets! Everyone do yourself a favor and book straight thru the theatre!
Just try literally any other streaming service. Had to reload the movie at least 25 times. Took us about 4hrs to watch a 2hr movie. Website is so trash. I can't stress this enough.
I am writing to add to the HUNDREDS of bad reviews for Fandango. As a first (and last) time customer I used their sloppy, misleading online service to order my tickets. Ordered them for a day too early, they wouldn't cut me a break, just put me on hold for half an hour then blabbed bull$#*! about "policy from corporate" which we all know, they COULD have allowed an exchange if they wanted to. Put me on hold again when I asked to speak with a supervisor, then I was hung up on before I ever made it. Do you want to give your money to someone who won't give you the benefit of the doubt as a customer? Use a credit card, you won't be paying Fandango's extra "convenience" fees on top of everything else. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID. BOYCOTT FANDANGO!
I couldn't make the movie I bought tickets for and they wouldn't allow me to use the self-service refund/exchange option on their website simply because I used a $5 reward promo (which I earned by being Fandango "VIP" customer). This is silly in and of itself, but I digress. I tried calling their customer service number for assistance and no one answered, so I had to reach out to them using their contact form. All this occurred way before the movie even started. Despite all of this, I received an automated email response days later saying they couldn't issue a refund because it was after the show time and recommended that I sign up for their Fandango VIP account (which I already had) to be able to use their self-service option in the future (which you can't if using a promo). It's obvious that they aren't even reading the customer's inquiries. When I called to explain the situation, the representative said there was nothing they could do. I asked for a supervisor and they told me that it's not possible to speak to supervisors. What a joke! Don't give these scammers your business. Save yourself the headache and convenience fee by purchasing directly with the movie theater.
Stay away from this service. Unfortunately my wife has used this service for a while and we decided to purchase tickets for 6 of our teenage kids this Saturday through Fandango. The kids were unable to get into the movie to see the film we had tickets for. The theater wouldn't exchange the tickets for a different movie and told us to contact Fandango. Well, we tried to contact Fandango. But you can't get in touch with anyone from Fandango. On hold 40 minutes and eventually left a call back number. No one ever called back. I called later and was on hold for an hour and gave up. Finally was able to contact them Monday and they will not refund tickets despite having call logs showing we called at least 30 minutes before the movie. Ended up having to eat $60 for this horrible service and pay another $60 to the theater to get my kids into another movie. Like I said, wife uses them and when we go to the movies we typically have 8 kids and 2 adults. That's quite a chunk of change Fandango will be missing out on. So Enjoy that $60 Fandango. It is your last from me.
(For a little bit of context here, it's helpful to know that most sites that offer online ticketing and seat selection for concerts and other shows have a map that displays not only the seats, but also the stage or screen. Fandango's map only shows the seats.)
I booked a pair of theater seats that were horizontally dead center according to their map. Unfortunately, their map didn't account for the fact that the horizontal center of the seating area did not align with the horizontal center of the screen. As a result, our "dead center" seats provided a view equivalent to sitting on the left aisle. Meanwhile, walk-in customers who did not pay a service charge to Fandango wound up with much better seats than we had. I got off the phone with Fandango a few minutes ago, having called because I felt they had not earned their $3 service charge. I explained the situation to the customer service rep, and the rest of the conversation went something like this:
Rep: So are you asking for a refund on the tickets or just the service fee?
Me: Just the service fee.
Rep: I'm sorry, we can't refund the service fee.
Me: Then how about a $3 refund on the tickets?
Rep: I'm sorry, we can't refund that either.
Me: The why did you ask me if I want a refund on the tickets or the service fee?
Rep: I don't know. Sorry.
Me: May I speak to your supervisor?
Rep: No
Me: Why not?
Rep: Why do you want to speak to my supervisor?
Me: Because I'm about to cost your company thousands of dollars on social media. I thought maybe your supervisor would be smart enough to just issue a $3 refund, especially since your company did not really provide a service to me.
Rep: I'll get him.
> Supervisor got on the line and I expressed the same concerns to him. I also added:
Me: You understand that I'm just going to ask my credit card company to block the $3 service charge, right? Since you're not getting my money either way, the best move for you is to just issue the refund. At least that way, you don't get shredded on social media.
Supv: Sorry, I can't help you.
Me: Has Fandango ever issued a refund for anything?
Supv: You can get a ticket refund before the show. We're not set up for anything else. Have a nice evening.
Purchased movie tickets through Fandango on my phone today, received a message saying there was a problem with my card and that the purchase didn't go through, but "not to worry, your card won't be charged". Knowing it is not a problem with my card, but assuming the problem was on their end, I repurchased the tickets successfully with Visa Pay. When I went into my email, sure enough BOTH transactions had gone through and my card was charged for BOTH! I tried to get a refund through the "can't make the show" link, but it would not refund the entire purchase, Fandango wanted to keep my $4.50 service charge, so I promptly opened the customer service chat. The representative I spoke with, Adam, offered a credit for which they could refund the entire amount in the form of a credit for future movies. Not being a frequent movie-goer, I didn't want a credit. In the end I opted to take a refund minus the $4.50 service charge... which begs the question WHAT SERVICE, Fandango did NOTHING to help me. Instead they helped themselves to two service charges because their crummy app doesn't work and sends out false messages saying that the transaction didn't go through prompting customers to purchase twice. Next time I will purchase my tickets direct through the theater's online app. Boo Fandango!
Worst customer service I have ever received. I purchased 8 tickets for beauty and the beast and received confirmation of my purchase and was charged $72 for the tickets. I didn't get a confirmation email so I called fandango. I waited on hold over 20 minutes and when I was finally connected to a rep she said she showed 3 failed attempts at making the purchase. I finally asked for a supervisor who said my transaction failed. I told her I have a picture of the confirmation and can show the money coming out of my bank account and could I send it to her. She said I could and that she would pass along to executive department for review which would take 3 to 5 business days. I asked if she could expedite it and she said no. I asked what she could do because I have family coming from out of town the next day and she said she will pass along to executive board. I asked for a manager and she refused me one. So now, I am out $72 dollars and have to disappoint 4 children that they can't go to the movies today. I am also a supervisor in customer service and this is absolutely unacceptable.
No refunds is a problem. It's basically theft when you can't make the show on time and they punish you because you don't want to drive and text so you miss the cut off time. This policy is bs.
Got a $15 gift card for Christmas. I used it to purchase 2 tickets for Spider-Man + had to pay $13.30 of my own money to cover the rest of the cost. The page popped up that verified my tickets were purchased and I could pull them up in my "purchase history." I never received an email confirmation-even checked my spam folder- and there was nothing under my purchase history. I went to our regal theater knowing they probably wouldn't be able to help me, but they tried their best. They tried to get fandango customer service on the line for me, but after waiting 15 minutes for someone to answer the damn phone I ultimately gave up and told them I would just purchase tickets from them.
I tried to use the gift card again the next day, thinking maybe it didn't go through (even though I saw the confirmation page before closing out of it) and sure enough, the gift card code no longer workbecause I have already "used it." I also checked my bank account and they pulled out the other $13.30 I had to pay.
So basically I am $28 in the hole thanks to fandango and they can suck my $#*!. I'm livid about it.
Answer: Shauna, try Ken's suggestion. After years as a loyal customer & "Fan" of Fandango, I had an issue that should have been easily resolved. When I finally spoke to a live CSR, the response & subsequent email were robotic & useless. I now buy gift cards from the theatres & save my $$ and time. Good luck to you, though!
Answer: You do Julie S., but if you purchase it within 2 hours of the movie you are out of luck and that's what I happened to do. I accidentally chose that same day rather than the next day (Saturday) and since I was within a 2 hour time frame they said too bad. Never will use them again that's for sure. It was an honest mistake and I explained that but the woman on the phone was very nasty.
Answer: I would try emailing them, unfortunately there is no one to call as far as I know. If that doesn't work why don't you try calling a theater near you that takes fandango, ask for a manager. Fandangos customer service is not good so I wish you luck. Thank you for your service, hope this helps Rose
Answer: I didn't wake up with a dead horse in my bed but all other evidence in dealing with Fandango indicate that they are mob-owned. Perhaps the mob has more morals. Maybe not mob-owned. What would be worse than the mob because that's likely who owns them. Difficult question to answer. Best not to do business with them anyway.
Fandango has a rating of 1.1 stars from 1,232 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Fandango most frequently mention customer service, gift card and convenience fee. Fandango ranks 325th among Movie sites.
