My experience came form an alert from a false/unknown inquiry on my credit report that EXPERIAN SENT ME as a possible fraud. The website said to call the company who made the inquiry, then call experian if the company won't help. The company was not answering the phone and there was no voicemail, so I called experian. Big mistake. The lady barely spoke English, she was a condescending and most unhelpful person who was walking around OUTSIDE during our call and the wind was blowing into her phone. She said my phone was breaking up! And I said no mam, you were walking around outside. Anyway, I asked for a manager who speaks English as she tried HARD not to put me through to one. She left me on hold for over a half hour before I realized a manager wasn't coming. I am disgusted that she gets a paycheck for acting this way and she needs to be fired immediately... if all the staff is like this, I guess I picked the wrong line of work. You need no skills. Just walk around on your cell phone and answer the phone for experian. You don't even need to speak English... or be helpful or know anything except 'we can do nothing.'

I signed up with Experian to use their "boost" which was fine for a few months, HOWEVER when I saw an error and tried to dispute the company's mistake, showing not only my bank records, but the information the had from boost which lists all your bank transactions! They don't bother with ANY evidence you have, they will only take what the company says truth. They took a catalog credit they originally listed as a credit card and changed it to a loan! It took 3 months of disputing their mistake before they changed it bake. Then they took a self added account that was a cable/internet service and put it as a mobile phone account! Next thing I know, there was a dispute against the company which was then removed from my report! Furious I made a call and was on hold for half an hour! When someone finally answered and I demanded to know why it was (!) Disputed (2) removed, I WAS HUNG UP ON! While I was on hold, I started a chat session, and when it finally got connected, I explained what I just went through, the person said I'm sorry. But by then, after months of aggravation, I said I wanted to be done with them! For the first 3 months maybe 4 it was great but after that, nothing but headaches. Their customer service is lacking, and all it did was make my credit worse than when I started

Experian lied to me
September 17, 2019

So I trusted Experian and that was a Big Mistake. They have all my credit info. So when they LIED to me and said they
"FOUND" 5 credit cards that if I applied to would help my credit score I foolishly believed them. The very first one I applied for at THEIR suggestion denied me and my credit score went down. I would have never applied had they not said the FOUND credit cards for me that would boost my rating. LIARS- Don't trust them

My attorneys and I have requested over eight times to remove Westgate, a company fraudulently reporting to my credit history. The other two bureaus removed it right away, but Experian refused. This negative credit reporting violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Moreover, The Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 USC §1681), in conjunction with The Fair Credit Billing Act (15 USC § 1601), states that when the alleged debt is in dispute and the debtor is represented by an attorney, the creditor may not report the debt as delinquent.

Will Sabotage You!
August 16, 2023

I discovered that everytime the other major credit bureaus i.e Transunion, Equifax & RI Credit Burea would raise my scores, Equifax would decrease my scores e.g if Transunion raises my score 3 points, Equifax would lower it 20-22 points. Nothing really has changed, I owe no one and all relevant info remains the same. They offer " experian boost" which really is a joke...if you are a free customer, boost will not work as for almost 2 years it will not pick up my rent payments, and every time it is about to complete the 90 day cycle of bills, they disconnect me so I get no boost. Many many emails to experian over the past 2 years and all their responses are either canned with no definitive answers or they point the blame to others. They told me my bank keeps disconnecting me from boost but my bank extensively researched this and assure me it is not them and it is not the company that regulates boost who is named Finicity. I was in touch with finicity directly and they told me experian has some glitch that will remain unless you become a paid for subscriber. This company Experian is very deliberate to not give you any definitive answers to complaints and will not help you fix anything with your credit reports under their jurisdiction...

Experian is one of the three primary credit repositories in the US. The data they collect on you determines what credit score they assign to you. That credit score is used by any business considering extending credit to you. The lower the score the higher the risk you are considered. The higher the risk the more you're going to pay in interest, down payments etc.

So, you'd think accuracy would be important to them. Nope. Because you're not their primary customer - the creditors are, and that's who their loyal to. If their information is bad, it just protects the creditor by costing you more money. And, truthfully, do they care f you have to pay more - that's a hard no!

Recently I checked my credit, and found some errors. Following their protocol, you can make some corrections, but not if institution has submitted the incorrect info. You then are directed to contact the institution, and I guess, provide proof that the information they have submitted to the repositories is inaccurate.

Initially, I was going to take care of that, but then I thought to myself, why? Do I care if they're making money selling inaccurate data about me? Do I care if hackers steal inaccurate data about me? No, & no

Screw the repositories!

If they want accurate information about me, they can pay me for it!

Total one-sided scam
February 22, 2024

This company has the bad habit of automatically taking the side of the creditor, or in my case the Reporting entity that bought some bogus paper.

The Experian program connected to my Capital One c. C. accounts page is a nightmare... the current credit score numbers it provides for me are questionable as well as used for a hook to get me to apply for one of their many credit cards, all with high costs, ie. Yrly charge and or high monthly % charges... 24% or more. Their suggestions based on my credit score which they change on almost a weekly basis. They suggest one reason I have a low score is that I have a 'Thin File' (not enough credit debt) their term, and it would 'help' me if I would 'plump' it up by adding more of their credit cards to the two I already have with Capital One. When you add this situation, with their ability to drop my score 34 points in one day, when I am trying desperately to raise my score to somewhere at least in the high sixes or 700 to qualify for a refi on my mortgage, it's just depressing! The CFO at my credit union said don't pay any attention to those numbers, no one really looks at them anymore, now they look at debt to income ratio...? I am 73 yo and living on a fixed income. I have put time and energy into fitting my lifestyle into what would fit into my retirement income. Experian seems to think more debt is the better way to go. I don't know if this situation fits your idea of a scam but it sure does fit mine...

Experian does not provide billing statements, they say you have to check your bank statement.
How do I reconcile a bank statement with without a billing statement.
Turns out they have been double billing me for years.
You have to wait awhile to speak with a supervisor, because they are always tied up on calls.
They really have not helped much with my credit score either.
Customer service is not in the US either. They also do not have proper security protocols for a foreign country, instead of having to key in my private info, I have to provide it verbally. That is not protecting my information! They billed the 1st of the month and then the end of the month.
Customer service, while they were very polite.
The Phillipines is a 3rd world country and have lax laws around security. The company I work for had issues with PH workers scamming customers, lots of fraud there.
Do you want your private financial exposed to someone in a corrupt 3rd world country?
Here what they will tell you, "We don't allow phones or pens or papers in the call center." How would that stop scammers? There are a lot of people with photographic memory or a great recall.
Needless to say I have canceled my account.
There are no refunds, but after prodding I was at least able to get a refund for this month, but now have to go thru all my banks statements for the last 4 years or probably even longer to see how long they have been double billing me.

I'm not all together certain how this situation came about, but unfortunately, I must report my dissatisfaction with this outfit.
While it's true, I have been diligently working on repairing my credit, I have no recollection of signing up with Experian. Furthermore, I am positive I never agreed to any pay services from the same. I already (as everyone does) can access any information relevant to my credit activity using services that do not ask for money and do not bombard my inbox with unsolicited emails.
For several months now, I have received multiple emails stating that Experian has attempted to deduct money from my PayPal account. As someone who has dedicated close to a year already to credit repair - I keep a low balance, I don't utilize credit, and I never, ever, purchase goods or services I can't afford. However, needing to make an online payment to my insurance company, I recently deposited funds to my PayPal account - of which Experian swiftly deducted $26.49 - an amount which rendered me unable to make the required payment to my insurance. This is assisting people with finances? I think not.
In attempt to remove myself from Experian's "customer list" (aka email harassment list) I made my way to their website, where I was greeted with a "past-due bill." The only way I could navigate the site and file my grievance was - you guessed it - pay that bill.
I don't use any of these services provided by Experian whatsoever. I feel their business practices are AT BEST under-handed. Tricking hard-working people into some type of membership they can't afford, and subsequently requiring payment to voice their dissatisfaction is precisely what has led me to post this review.

I do not recommend any dealings with this outfit whatsoever. I believe they provide nothing for free and choose to conduct business in a way that's nothing short of manipulative, exploitive, and in direct contrast to what they advertise.

Proceed warned.
