“No Accountability for Erroneous Info”

I think the title says it all...except you'll pioneer speak to someone without a heavy accent...which puts the comprehension of your complaint in question. They pass the buck! No one is accountable for their erroneous info that accompanies an almost perfect credit score. No wonder the use of the f word is so common today! Total frustration!

And there's NOTHING you can do about it. I can't understand why we are forced to do business with this grossly negligent company that supposedly guards our info. They lost a major class action lawsuit yet they are still at it. Causing harm to innocent individuals who never signed up for this. I'm sorry Equifax this time I can't let it go.

Tip for consumers:
It’s time to emancipate from Equifax. If you need credit consider only doing business with companies that pull from other sources. SAY NO TO EQUIFAX

I signed up. Got countless emails within hours with alarmist messages. Signed in and found no information. Asked for more information, and was told to 'phone us for more information' - presumably, so that they can sell me a premium subscription just to see the content of the messages that they are spamming me with several times a day. I requested that they remove my account, and was asked again to call them (because, clearly, the law means nothing to these people and one must jump through hoops to stop being harassed by them once signed up for free). Despite removing most of my details and opting out of marketing, I am still receiving multiple spam a day from Equifax (which suggests it's falsely generated as it alludes to information that they clearly do not have), and they refuse to do anything about it unless I call (so that they can sell me a premium plan instead, I presume).

Stay the hell away from this company! They're just fancy scammers themselves. You have been warned.

Tip for consumers:
I have asked to close my account - "call us".

I have asked them to stem the spam - "call us".

I have asked why the spam is not followed up with information relating to the spam - "call us".

This is a disgusting company that trades on bullying and alarmist BS to panic customers into paying for premium services with, quite frankly, illegal tactics.

They are scammers - stay away!!!

Products used:
None. I tried, but this service is a con; they will spam you mercilessly with alarming messages, then demand that you call them to find out what the messages are about (the 'free' tier does not reveal the reason for thirty emails a day).

You can contact customer service on desk via e-mail to make complaints. I contacted Douglas via e-mail on # dougfoster543 (AT) g-m/a/i/l/dot/c/o/m few weeks ago and he gave me a new score with no bad records, he's still available to help as more as he can. The whole team is happy here with Foster service. Thank me later!

Verified purchase

I'll join the many other voices here giving Equifax a one-star rating, and I hope you will read the reviews and take heed before doing business with these (in my opinion) very unethical people. Once you purchase their product, you are in customer service hell. The myequifax website is almost always non-responsive. You cannot sign in or it just doesn't work. If you are lucky enough to be able to talk to a customer service agent when you use their telephone number, you are bound for disappointment. Customer service is incredibly apathetic and poor, and promised emails/confirmations never seem to arrive. Finally, when you get frustrated enough to cancel, good luck. You can only cancel by telephone. You may or may not get through on any given day - sometimes the number just returns static after you dial, sometimes the wait is excessive. If you get through, in order to cancel, you must jump through hoops. They want it to be as difficult as possible for you to rid yourself of them. My advice is to steer clear of this company and use another service if you need credit reporting.

Tip for consumers:
Keep records of every interaction with them. Never delete emails from them, and record any phone call interactions you have.

They all of sudden lost my date of birth, two months later they have duplicate info and cannot send a score out. The incompetency of these people is disgusting. Not to mention, one late will send you 80 points down, if that gets erased your score goes up half that amount? I'm a father with a million in assets, good credit, large income, no lates, with three hundred thousand of credit and low use ratio with an avg. Score of 730. My son has not a pot to piss in, one credit card with small limits and 790 FICO.
There is something very wrong with these people and their dysfunctional system! You suck Equifax!

Placing sensitive credit information of 143 million people at risk is both scary and sad. It can turn the lives of many people upside down. Preliminary reports say this could have been avoided had this big sleeping giant been more proactive in maintaining adequate safeguards.
Granted Equifax provides important credit information and financial services to the business community, it has often acted with an air of indifference and callousness. It was found by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) for violating Dodd-Frank provisions by deceiving consumers into buying bogus credit programs. Prior to that, they had a round with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) by delaying actions when consumers complained to them. These are the hallmarks of a ratings agency with almost monopolistic power. They've been around the longest since 1899. It's about time they understand how it feels to have your own ratings go down the toilet.
I know of instances where trying to get them to resolve minor credit issues was met with such resistance that the CFPB had to come to the rescue to force them to meet the minimum standards of a credit reporting bureau.
In the final analysis, this should be a serious wakeup call to everyone about how important consumer watchdogs such as the CFPB and FTC are in providing a voice for the average person that finds themselves at the mercy of the likes of Equifax that was apparently asleep at the wheel.

You should probably watch your Equifax score before you make a move because they can be a month or so behind. If your score improved lately it is going to take Equifax some time to catch up. This is the consumer reporting agency the industry has delegated to evaluate your tax records for card eligibility or continued card elegibility. Equifax resolves all disputes quickly.

So I've been working on my credit for 4 or 5 months now. Got a few credit cards and use them and either pay them off or make my payments on time but if you use more than 30% of your credit it drops each month so making on time payments every month and even paying them off every once in a while just doesn't help. This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Drop ur score even tho you make payments on time. Beginning to wonder why the hell am I even trying. Too much ignorance with credit now days. May go back to paying cash for everything. Dumbass ways of doing g things with these dumbass companies.

Tip for consumers:
If ur trying to build your credit, do not do it with credit cards or even more than 30% of the loan amount they wanna give you I'm guessing also. Disgusting

I paid off the only loan I had, an auto loan, eight months early. So being curious as what it had done to my credit score, I checked and couldn't believe it. After paying it off my score dropped 29 points from 773 to 744! What the heck? I figured that paying a loan off early would be a good thing, guess not! No wonder equifax has such a low rating! If I could give a negative point rating, I would! It really doesn't matter that much because I have no intention of having any kind of credit again, it's just the principle of it!

Citibank refused me with a credit card due to equifax report. I order copy from them. Few mistakes! They have 1 extra letter in my name, middle initial (i dont have it) and my birthday shows 73 years old (even im 60) and, lastly, my birthday as 12/30/1899 (making me the oldest person in a world). How come such company can be in business to provide credit reports, fico score and other info to creditors? What a shame! The c/s speak very poor english (he was, probably, from vietnam or philippines, in order for company to save on the salary expenses). He dont seee my birthday at his file at all. Really? When asked about VintageScore reason codes (ie 34, 39, 63, 66) he cant understand and explain it. Dont use equifax or pay them any monthly fees, since they are no prudent and allow mistakes in reports, which may be one of the reason to provide credit to consumer. Who want to credit 123 years old person?

Equifax customer care is TERRIBLE! And their customer care representatives are rude as can be! Andrea the young woman helping me not only talked over me multiple times but had no clue how to do her job or help with any issues. All she did was repeat to me what my score was and what my report said. Absolutely NOTHING helpful at all! And when I asked for a supervisor I was given the run around. Was told they had to find one and then put on hold for 10 minutes. Ridiculous!
And just so everyone knows, Equifax customer care is located in the Philippines so these people have complete access to all your personal information, and I mean ALL of it.
They dropped my score 61 point over night with NOTHING AT ALL added to it, no changes, and had no explanation for this at all! TERRIBLE COMPANY AND CUSTOMER CARE!

This company is a awful awful company. I sued this company in 1990 for falsely reporting my debts again this company is reporting debt that is not my debt but in fact isy sons debt. The lawsuit was for 1 million dollars, at the time I agreed to set aside the judgement and Equifax agreed they would correct my credit report and confirm in the future any negative reports before releasing them. Recently I have found false debt and in fact addresses I have never lived at on my report. Equifax is in direct violation of the agreement that was signed in 1990 and currently are liable for the 1 million dollars they agreed to pay if and when my credit report was ever in correct again. It is a problem fact Equifax had a security breach and are dragging their feet on resolution however they also as does capital one use robotic answering systems so as not to talk to people unless you file litigation. Please be advised the companies who have pending litigation against them will never take responsibility for screwing up people's lives. Again this matter as well as capital one are preventing me from reuniting with my family. Take time to share with the public when you are wronged by these people

I paid off the balance of 2 of my credit cards, Transunion raised my credit score by 42 points, but Equifax reduced my score by 38 points! Interestingly, it says the reason for losing that much credit score is balance decreased by two credit cards!

Great service if you are paranoid about your credit, but it's impossible to cancel the service. The phone numbers listed on their own website for cancelation are invalid. I had to close a longstanding credit card account just so I wouldn't get charged anymore... By the way Capital One was the credit account and they refused to reverse the charges.

These guys should not handle anyone's credit card information. Their website is down for five days and every time you try to log in it says - We are temporary unavailable. When you call in to get the service they spend 45 min and are not able to verify you asking information from 15 years ago!

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!

I have been working on cleaning up past bad credit and found an error on my credit report. I contacted TransUnion and filed a dispute and within 15 days they had corrected the err. I then went to the Equifax website and followed all instructions to the letter. Since that day, I have received approximately 20 emails from Equifax stating that my dispute had been resolved and I could follow the link for their determination. The link never worked, it always said my info was wrong. After calling 4 times and being misdirected EACH time, I finally spoke with someone who then told me that I had never filed a dispute with them. Regardless of the confirmation numbers, and file/case numbers, he was adamant that there was no dispute filed. As of today, I am STILL waiting for response regarding the misinformation that they have on my credit report. I will be contacting their headquarters in the next few days in hope of finally getting this error corrected.

These guys are bad as are all of these credit companies. I tried to cancel my services with them, which you can't do online. I called the number and waited a long time and was hooked up to an Indian guy. No offense to Indians but I kept getting the hard sell from this guy and after getting really angry he said he would cancel my service. I got a cancellation notice and then I also got a renewal notice for the same service. They give you an email to send comments but it doesn't exist. Really bad company. Don't do business with these people. Experian is just as bad.

This company is unprofessional and incompetent.
My first call was Monday 10-29-18, while trying to get a new truck loan. First I tried to unfreeze my credit report via on-line. No success. When I called I was told the whole system was doing an update (in the afternoon on a business day, WTH) and I would have to wait 30 minutes and call back. When I did, of course had to go thru the whole list of questions and crap. When done, they said they lifted the freeze and I even got a confirmation #. The dealership tried multiple times to check credit. I went back on Tuesday late afternoon. AGAIN, I had to get on line, but this time it let me log on. Got the freeze lifted for 7 days. Waited two days and multiple checks by the finance and dealership. Still no lift. Thursday: First I went on line and again LIFTED FREEZE. Called them to complain and to verify. First I was told that the supervisor was unavailable and I could wait or get call back. Decided to try to talk to MEKHI who answered the phone. After going thru their questions, again! He told me it showed that my freeze was lifted. I complained about the multiple problems and said they were at fault. When I asked for MEKHI's employee number, then Lo & Behold, the supervisor comes on the line. (Thought he was busy?) He insisted it was not their error but the error of the GM Credit company. Then when I wanted to do their survey, I was disconnected. I hope I never have to do that again. I am signing up for LIFELOCK and getting rid of these freezes.

I have contacted these clowns on numerous occasions in the past 24 hours. Reason is that I received a letter from a company offering me a loan that I have never had any dealings with. This produced an itch that needed to be scratched. So I contacted the company. It turned out they had got my details from equifax. I have no account with equifax; (I did quite some time ago have a trial account that was cancelled before I had to pay anything). But as I write I have no account with equifax. I then contacted equifax for an explanation. I have been given the run-around. The indian call centre staff are almost incomprehensible, as anyone speaking english is to them. They are not interested in what you want; they are only interested in what they want. I like the way the caller can go into a rant about why they are calling and the problems they are having, and the question comes back from the hapless call centre staff "why are you calling" (I call it the magic eight ball, that is if they dont like what you say they pretend you havent said anything and ask why you are calling over and over again until they get an answer they can deal with - like shaking the magic eight ball when you dont get the result you wanted). At all points when I contact them they presume they can pull up my details from a non existent account, and dont know how to cope when you challenge them about that.

The excuses they have given. They have tried to blame a building society or a bank for giving equifax details. But this is a red herring as its the banks and building societies that come to them for details. They have tried to blame the electorial role and myself for not ticking the box that stops one from being placed on the open register. I always tick the box to stop that from happening.

Here is another for you; it quite clear from the tone of the conversation and the way the conversation is progressing what you want to be done by them. Instead of doing this, they ask whether you want it done. I reply "what do you think?" bear in mind the general direction of the conversation. If they dont get an answer that complies with what they want they pretend they dont know what to do. They even go as far when challenged about this to say something like - well judging from what you have said I would say you would like me to do this. But still nothing is done until they get a certain three letter word.

I had one of their call centre staff, come back from yet another break, to then ask me whether I am going to answer his questions. But due to my considerable experience calling call centres I immediately knew what he was up to. He had gone away to ask a supervisor for permission to put the phone down on myself, and had been given the go-ahead to do so as long as he once again checks by asking myself that question before putting the phone down. I told him of this instead of answering his question, and included that he was using the call to keep his job. He agreed before putting the phone down on myself.

All I can write is morons.

They are only interested in making a buck from you. There is no way to get a free credit report and getting information without paying is impossible. I tried to dispute one item that Equifax had that TU and EXP did not show and it kicked me off the server. I tried again and got locked out from the "dispute" page saying that the information I provided in the security questions did not match. I know what I was paying for my mortgage and car loan not Equifax apparently. Once it locks you out there is no way to get back in and all it says is to fax my dispute with a copy of my driver license. It is probably sitting on the floor in their basement under countless of other disputes that other people are forced to fax in. Its been a month and I have not heard anything! There is a phone number on the website to call but it says you must provide the 10 digit dispute number which it won't give you because you need to get their credit check plan for $17 or premier plan for $20. I think that Equifax planted this information on my report because it is only listed under medical with no information as to who is claiming this debt. I did manage to track down the address and phone number to this claim for $239 and they have the wrong information about me and my son. This company Escallate out of Canton, Ohio said it was from Saint Rose Hospital which I did go to. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called the hospital about past unpaid medical bills which they could not find any and if they did it would of been $25 for my deductible since I carry blue cross. I asked the hospital if I didn't pay and it went to collections would they use this company Escallate and they said they only use Grant and Weber. So I called Grant and Weber which is located next to the hospital and they have no record of me and I found out they do not sell unpaid debt to anyone else.

There seems to be little recourse and I feel helpless about this. You can look up Equifax on consumer reports and see about similar issues people have.
