The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with some customers praising the quality of unique items and positive experiences with customer service. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns, including inflated shipping costs, poor communication, and issues with product authenticity. Many customers report dissatisfaction with the handling of returns and complaints, often facing unresponsive support. Overall, while there are pockets of positive feedback, the prevailing sentiment suggests a decline in service quality and transparency, leading to frustration among long-time users and potential legal actions from dissatisfied customers.

I had purchased 6 cameras from EBTH satisfactorily with the exception of slow and expensive shipping. Then I received a non-functioning camera. I called expecting that EBTH would stand by their product as eBay would have, Instead they treated a good customer rudely and summarily saying the product was "untested" and that they weren't eBay, No kidding, Sorry sucker you are stuck with it and we don't care seems to be the prevailing attitude of EBTH. So beware before bidding. If the product doesn't work - too bad fool you are stuck with it. I am done with EBTH and you should never do business with this cavalier outfit.
I just read the contract they want consigners to sign. I said no. Has anyone else read the contract? Has a clause asking cosignors to fully indemnify EBTH unless they act "I n bad faith." Do you want to fully insure them against any liability even in the case of a product liability lawsuit and then argue over the definition of "bad faith.?" I was stunned. I gave them one star because the representative who came to my house to consult about my items was very nice and I appreciate her time and effort. It's the contract language that is a no go for me.
I own Schaef Designs online jewelry store. My name is Bobby Schaefer. EBTH is using my company name and my personal name to redirect traffic from my website to theirs for the purchase of making sales. I have contacted the company 3 different ways, phone, email, and Facebook. They have refused to remove the copyright violations on their sites that damage my business. If they cheat here where else are the misleading the customer?
Horrible company. Do NOT do business with them. You will be sorry. They will take your stuff and lie to you about what happened to it, where it went, what was sold, what you were told blah blah blah. Basically it's a shell game. Don't believe ANYTHING they say. Do one better, just don't do business with them.
I believe EBTH is running a shell game. They lost so much of our furnishings moving our things from one warehouse to another, and then what didn't sell, including mid century modern furniture and expensive Ligne Roset tables, they gave to Habitat for Humanity or couldn't account for where the furniture and other household items went. They personally told me they would ask me first so that I had the option of taking them back. But they did not. I connected with management through linked in and they were responsive to my anger with a phone call. The person I spoke to slipped and said I made $21,000 and didn't know why I was upset, but then quickly realized he was looking at the wrong number. We actually only made about $3,000. They must have made money on the lost furniture, which probably wasn't really lost. Long story short, I gave them an accounting of what was not listed on their site and what I thought was the fair market value for those goods. They took a percentage of that number and gave me restitution, but no where near what the reasonable value for those lost items should have been. They didn't have to take a percentage on the number I gave them. Really unfair. In order to get the minimal restitution I had to sign a waiver that I wouldn't pursue the matter. I didn't have the money to sue them or start a class action suit, but someone should. Buyers and Sellers Beware!
I've been buying from 2011. I've gotten great deals. However, you have to read the description carefully and carefully check the photos. They do not have a sense of scale in the photos. I only do local pick-up items or double check shipping costs first... shipping can get out of hand. Interesting and diverse things available.
I had a rep from EBTH visit my father's house after he passed. My parents had an antiques shop in Maine and brought some of the more valuable pieces with them to Florida. The rep was rude, to say the least, said unless I through in all the jewelry and silver from the estate they couldn't be bothered. I have since found on E-bay that many of the pieces are worth something - just not worth their time. I wouldn't bother with them. It might have been a good business model to begin with but their reps will only work with you if you have a 'treasure' like an undiscovered piece of priceless jewelry - so they can make a name for themselves with the company - a 'fact' the rude woman I met with mentioned more than once.
I bought a turn of the century sterling silver coin 6 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I called to check in on why I never received the item I had paid for and they said they would look into it. Well, guess what arrived today from ebth? Cheap jewelry worth maybe $2.00. I don't even think a 7 year old girl would wear it. So it looks like someone scored with the coin I paid for and I got their POS jewelry. I would have given zero stars but that was not an option.
EBTH changed our agreement AFTER their sale.
They sold my Mom's house contents for $10,600 but only sent $2,900 to the Estate after $3,500 of "cleaning fees". When I called to inquire, the manager (Todd Jones) became very combative. I would NEVER do business with them again. I had to get an attorney involved, which is a pretty strong indicator of how they do business.
I purchased necklace for a little more than I wanted, but being my first attempt with EBTH I went ahead until I won it. That was on June 26 and they immediately charged my card for the sale amount plus $22.58 for UPS ground. UPS Ground you say? Yes for a necklace they apparently need to ship with the same method used for a marble statue. Anyway, I started calling 10 days later and was informed of the 10 day policy which of course is 10 BUSINESS days. On the 10th business day I noticed that my item had been updated to "ready for pickup" yea! Finally! Um, apparently not. My necklace then sat for another 7 days! Until it started moving again. More emails and calls to customer service that basically say it is on the way... we promise. Then a few more days (5 past the original date of delivery) and UPS said it was out for delivery! Of course it has to be signed for, so I'm trying to figure out when it will actually show up so I don't miss it, but WAIT it is stuck at out for delivery. Yet another email to our friends at EBTH who at that very moment file a claim with UPS. HUH? It took 20 days to get so close NOW it is lost and UPS's fault? The latest email with the "customer service shipping specialist" said that only items over $999 go anything but ground and they will probably eventually find it. "Maybe next time I should buy something more expensive so I can get express shipping." I can't make this stuff up. Can I get my money back? NO WAY. "We need to be patient and wait this process out". I'm serious she actually typed that. She also said that they are "at the mercy of UPS because they are the ones that lost it". Incredible.
I just looked at the status of my order on their website which they have changed just today. --Status: Fulfilled --Shipping Status: NA Wow, just wow.
This has been rather cathartic typing this whole tale of woe. My advice is to only buy something if it is a smoking hot deal and if you can wait months to get it - maybe.
This morning I had my Email removed from EBTH. Never could talk with upper mgt. Over purchases. Also I've had items broken with their HIGH shipping rates. I bought several items per month, never again! William Little
I have purchased from EBTH for years before they expanded their business. Since expanding across the country I have had more problems with items being received damaged and then not to mention the costs just to have a small item shipped. They charge it seems like 3-5 times more than most estate/auction companies. It was not like that in the beginning but has time has went by I have learned they have lost their caring customer service and the company or companies they use for shipping have to be the biggest rip offs I have ever encountered. So beware before your bid and check out shipping costs, may not be such a great bargain after all.
Have you all read the reviews? Makes me want to quit looking at your page and never buy anything from you all.
If I was a seller, I surely wouldn't sell with EBTH. Their descriptions are partial and incomplete at best, and I have bought multiple items way under value only because of a inept, not knowledgeable writer. They are obviously trying to make up the difference in these losses by jacking up their shipping cost to astronomical levels. INSANE EITHER WAY. Unless you can pick it up a location, and YOU are sure of items authenticity, don't waste your time or money.
I was so excited when I saw some beautiful treasures I could not find else where. Company is misleading and a rip off! The photos they take are super enlarged, so you perceive it at a decent sized, even though the size etc is posted. I also called customer service, very rude! I just had some questions about a purchase, and did not receive my answers only attitude. I asked to speak to a supervisor, that was 2 weeks ago and no return call. Not a company to buy from! BUYER BEWARE!
ALSO 60.00 TO SHIP TO NJ, IT WAS GIANTS JERSEY!
They extend the bidding time every time a bid is made at the end of the "auction" to drive up the pricing - which at any legitimate auction house would be illegal. Whatever you are looking at can be bought on Etsy or ebay without dealing with crooks. Run - do not walk away!
Great on the outside, a disaster on the inside. I cannot delete my account. They have my debit card info and they refuse to help me delete my account. After logging in I cannot access my account via a computer or the app and the "customer service" refuse to help. They just say they can't do anything and talk in circles. It worries me that they refuse to help me remove my account. I don't want such a disorganized company access to my bank info. I regret ever siginging up! Beware!
I've been using this site for over a year and in my opinion it's going down hill. First thing you should know. When I started buying I was able to find some good deals and was not charged sales tax. Then after my first few purchases I was charged sales tax. Now get this! I made a purchase February 2018 an was charged sales tax for the item I purchased and shipping. Shipping cost is crazy as it is now you'll pay tax for shipping. I contacted the company and here is their reply.
Sales tax is applied to our total shipping cost, but handling is taxable; with a combined shipping and handling charge, shipping becomes taxable. Shipping fees are not taxable if handling is listed separately, but is taxable if they're combined. This is recent change EBTH has made as required by law. All their shipping charges include handling. That's how they justify the high shipping cost. I don't know about this being the law.
The second thing you need to know is they do not test the working condition of what they sell. Example wind up toys, music boxes, electronics or anything that's mechanical or electrical probably will not work. How hard is it to test a wind up toy or music box. If they have tested the item it appears they don't want you to know the results. So if you buy something like this it's best to assume it's broken so you won't be disappointed. Last most items sell for more than what they are worth so Buyer Beware. I recommend you shop somewhere else rather than being ripped off.
If you are looking for reasonable shipping charges and helpful customer service this is not your go to site. Forbid you call on a Saturday auto hold with no live person coming on the line, 8:30am PST on Sat. Disgusting.
You pay 3-400% higher processing charges than ALL other sites. DON'T expect reasonable delivery expectations - it won't happen!. Snotty Customer Service when you do get hold of a live person DURING the week.
I saw a serigraph listed on EBTH that I loved, but before I would purchase it I wanted to make sure it wasn't a fake. That artist usually sold at much higher prices than what the auction was. So I did some research and found that the specific serigraph I wanted was made in a limited edition of 300. The one on EBTH showed that it was number 17 of 250. I also saw that the SAME serigraph was sold on EBTH 2 years prior at a MUCH higher sale. So I emailed thempwers that be to ask if they guarantee authenticity, and then I proceeded to let them know about the item. Not only don't the guarantee, they gave me some bull$#*! doubletalk, that they look at the items. They didn't even address the fact that I told them they sold a fake. Basically, they are a glorified garage sale, buy at your own risk. However, at a garage sale I would bargain the item down to $10 and then take the risk! BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
