I have just had 2 payments of £70 deducted from my account for something which I said on the phone that I did not want. I would very much like to involve the police as I regard it as theft.
The customer services team are pleasant, promise the earth and then cheat you.
This firm should be shut down
I'm constantly having £17.99 direct debits taken from this company I cant get in touch with the department that keeps taking these DD's, apparently I have had puzzle magazines that I know nothing about. 3 last year and all of a sudden started again this year.
My brother lost £200 when he placed an order and was somehow signed up to some scam club. They have not refunded as requested. My brother has learning difficulties/autism and can ill afford this loss. It worries me greatly that this company mainly deals with elderly customers- how much are they stealing from maybe 100s of them?
Stay away
They charge you for services you don't want! And clearly say no to!
They store your card details when they shouldn't! Also fraud
They're customers service team and situated over seas so when trying to solve this problem they won't and can't! Language barrier is a major fact here
Apparently ana is a supervisor but can't do anything a supervisor should be able to!
Trying to a get a sort of response from these guys is unbelievable
Now the fun part starts requesting sar
Stay away at all cost the prey on the oaps
Con artist all the way
Make sure check your bank for extra charges as they took payments from me 7 weeks later
Sending thousands of unsolicited catalogues through the post - they appear to target retired people
Letters addressed to "The Householder" or similar, but they appear to hold full details on that householder.
If you buy something, check your credit card/bank account very carefully - they appear to sign people up to "Rewards Club" for £69.95 - many people have been "accidentally" signed up
My advice is be very wary of this company... their products are also very expensive - similar items can be bought in garden centres, supermarkets, B&M, Wilkinsons etc. for lower prices
Have ordered a few items from Easylife over years (mixed quality)
They are ok to order certain items from, but avoid Rewards Club subscription at all costs. They say there is no obligation to subscribe after 2 week free trial. When you agree, they say they will send a letter out with full details & option to cancel if you change your mind. This letter never arrived.
Have now emailed them to get my details removed from their mailing list & marketing list.
Easylife have bombarded me with brochures in the past & occasional phone calls, so best not to give them phone number.
Received a letter today (22/11/21) that claims to have been despatched on the 4/11/21 informing us that a trial for the gardening club (which we had not agreed to) ends on the 24/11/21 and they will be making a charge of £69.99 to the most recent card used to make a purchase by us. I suggest that anyone reading this never gives any of their card or bank details to this company because it's obvious they hold on to your details in order totry and catch you off guard over the telephone, it may not be illegal to do this but it's certainly immoral especially the way they target old age persons.
My Mum called and ordered a plastic table off this lot for £20. Her credit card statement came and the amount they took was for £68. She had been enrolled in their Rewards Club just like lots of others on here were. She didn't ask for that service and called them twice to ask for a refund. Each time she was told they would refund the £48, each time nothing happened. My Mum, who is 94 and needs help to get about, has now had to make a special trip to her bank to sort out getting her money back as this company won't do it. I called them and they just hid behind the Data Protection Act even though I didn't need any information about my Mum or her order, and wouldn't discuss anything to do with the refund with me. If you order from this company you will have services you didn't ask for added to your bill and one impossible time trying to get a refund. Check the similar reviews from other customers of theirs on here.
My wife bought a footstool from Easy Living (as seen by her mother in The Times). The footstool was of truly appalling quality. Ripped in 2 days. Then the unsolicited aggressive phone call followed to sign her up to Perx magazine. She asked explicitly for this NOT to happen. But they did - and then sent a letter saying she had signed up and would be debiting her account. These people are scammers.
Once item bought they try to sign you up to Well-being Club with subscription that must be cancelled within 20 days. They are sister company and have access to your card details kept on system?! Sub is £70 so if you don't cancel they take your money! Said I would inform police and also cancelled card and got a new one. Thanks Easylife, don't touch with barge pole folks!
I recently bought a fleece cape for £14.99 plus £4.99 delivery charge.
On arrival, I tried it on and firstly, it didn't look at all like the advertised picture in their catalogue. Secondly, it didn't fit as the back was halfway between my waist and shoulders and the side arm slits were too far back. Therefore, in two words it was totally unwearable and substandard!
After contacting the company to report the problem I was told to return with a cover letter to explain why I didn't want it and that cost me a FURTHER £3.28 with Royal Mail. When the refund was processed, there was no mention of the £8.27 which I'd had to pay to receive and return the faulty item. I shall be following this up, but I don't hold out much hope as the member of staff was very abrupt when I spoke to her, almost to the point of being rude.
I really wish I'd read the reviews before ordering and I certainly will never deal with this company again.
I purchased some masks last year and had a letter stating that they were going to renew my Motor Club membership and they would take the money out automatically. A membership I didn't know I had and had definitely not asked for. Disgusting company trying to scam the elderly!
Appalling unscrupulous company. They hook you in with a purchase so that they have your details and credit card details on their database. Then they "offer" you membership of their "rewards" clubs, and take the money for the subscriptions from your credit card if you don't cancel in time. The last one had only 1 day in which to cancel, I did cancel and they still tried to collect the fee (£74) from my credit card. Fortunately my card supplier alerted me to a possible fraudulent transaction and blocked my card. I have complained to the company and had no reply. I have reported them to Trading Standards and ICO.
I happened to get a Easylife catalogue & decided to look on the net. I found several sites including Sitejabber and another with some info that might assist those in need:
Martyn James of complaints website Resolver, believes Easylife is exploiting its customers. 'Older, more vulnerable people are less likely to complain or know their rights,' he says.
Mr James says your bank should dispute unauthorised payments. He urges anyone who has used the firm to check bank statements.
Camden Council in London asks anyone affected similarly by Easylife to report it to Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on ******* ******* or online at citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/get-more-help/report -to-trading-standards
So i hope this might help
My elderly mum bought a pack of face masks and was unwittingly signed up to their motor club following a call from a very pushy and bullish agent. He wanted to know all manner of info such as date of birth, car reg number, date mot is due, service dates, etc. It was like a quick fire round in a game show. Mum was getting confused and asked him to stop asking questions (and thankfully told him nothing) but he persisted and 2 days later a letter arrived welcoming her to the club and asking her to sign and return a letter to opt out or be charged 59.99 in 14 days (and they had already taken a 1.99 sign up fee). She returned the letter and 5 days later they sent another one with the same form to sign and return. I called them to complain and the agent was rude & dismissive and told me Mum had signed up and that's why she is receiving letters. Mum is really worried that they will take the money on the due date. It's disgraceful and we feel we have nowhere to turn.
Ordered Brick Effect Garden Border. Terracotta 6149. Half Price £8.49. It is rubbish. Does not perform as shown in Catalogue. Pieces not a close fit, so soil escapes. Very disappointed after struggling with it for an hour. Cannot return it under Warranty as it is now damaged. I have had NO response to my two earlier Reviews. IF I get another Catalogue through the post, it will be posted straight back to them, without a stamp! It has been a waste of money - but once bitten twice shy.
My wife has used this company sporadically over the last 4 to 5 years with no problems and she was fairly happy with their service. I placed an order 3 weeks ago under my wife's account and BINGO!, I was signed up for their Book Club samplers@ £1.95 taken from the account used for the ordered items and received 2 paperbacks 10 & 15 year old. Quickly followed by another deduction from the account of £69.99 for a "Discount Online Card" then a further deduction of £29.99 for a "Book Club " membership. Total unauthorised amount of £101.93 removed from my account within 3 days. Spent many wonderful hours playing telephone tag with them and ended up speaking twice to 2 different people on different numbers. Have just been refunded all monies will never use them again, too risky, as they just keep removing money from your account.
Wish I'd seen these reviews earlier!
Placed an order 2 weeks ago for £80 - both items in stock. Still not even picked for delivery. Customer service seem clueless as to when I might get delivery.
Took money from account even though they say they don't until dispatched.
Stay Away.
Having had major problems in the past I just wonder how this company keeps on trading. With so many complaints (see your reviews) surely some authority should take action and put them out of business. Thought that was what Trading Standards was all about..
Don't buy from this company. Payment taken 5 weeks ago. No sign of goods. Won't accept phone calls - except on 0800 order line. Several emails sent but no response. Considering legal action. They still advertise the goods I ordered on whole page newspaper adverts. AVOID THEM
Answer: Why do customers have to wait so long for their orders when they are being told the item has been dispatched?
Answer: Because there isn't anything lower & I'm polite enough not to put what I think,
