They no longer cover rental cars. Their policies and terms have degraded. They no longer side with the cardholder in disputes. I provided substantial documentation of false advertising and false claims by customer service, and they still denied my chargeback, and ignored my appeals. A once good company is now awful in every way.
We had a company that has no name or number charge our card for 227. It was a clever sale they got us for that money we had no idea we were being charged. Discover is now saying we're responsible for it becausee we have no way to return their serives. I strongly recommend never ever using discover card they have no charge back protection. You need to swith to chase or visa immediaetly, discover is the worst. We dealt with a woman out of the salt lake city utah dispute department her name was loise. She was so rude and eventually hung up on us.
As a single mother, you look for ways to lower debt and keep your finances in order. Like many, I had some debt and I was tired of paying a fee each month on that debt. I was tantalized by the Discover card commercials that portrayed card holders like family and offered no fees and 0 APR for 14 month. This sparked my interest as I knew that I could pay off my debt way before 14 months. The no fees sounded fabulous to me. So I applied for the Discover card and put in for a transfer. The transfer had a fee, of coarse, but it was less in the long run than getting a fee every month. I received my new card in the mail and I activated it immediately. I noticed that the transfer was not on my information. I gave it a couple days to see if it would show up. I had not received any notice that Discover was considering or even processing the transfer. When I still didn't see that the transfer was on my statement, I thought that I may have done something wrong. I applied for the transfer again and it worked, but so did the first transfer. Frantic, I saw that I not only had a credit of 3000 on my old credit card, but I acquired more fees! Upset, I called Discover card company and explained what had happened. They appologized for the happenings, but they explained that they could not put the transfer back, not could they take that the extra fee off. I started to get really angry. I spoke to a supervisor and he too said the same thing the customer service rep. Did, but added that I should be excited to have extra money on the old card for the holidays coming up. I could have reached into the phone and strangled him. I don't need extra money, I need to get myself out of debt. I called the bank that my old credit card is with and it is going to take 30 days to get that money from the credit card to my bank account so that I can turn around and pay off one of my mistakes. Discover does not treat you like family nor do they care about their customer. I have learned from my mistake and will pay off my debt as planned then cancel the card with Discover. They will NEVER get my business again! Signed,
Frustrated Single Mom
I enjoy this card I started off with a secured card in less then a year it was turned in to a unsecured card and they raise my limit another 1500 great card great investment if youre looking for a credit card with no hidden fees
After four months of thinking Discover had my back on a purchase I made where the item was defective and Id paid with my Discover card, one of their dispute specialist told me, You signed for the item and didnt indicate there was a problem so we cant help you. The item was a piece of furniture in a large box in a pallet. I asked her, Who would make the truck driver wait while you cut open the box, moved the furniture into your home and tried it out before you signed the bill of lading? She assured me she understood. She didnt understand. Run the hell away from Discover. My credit score is over 800. And Discover doesnt value MY business. I highly recommend Capital One.
I started with discover in 2008 when I was in credit card card. Their zero interest for 2 years card at the time got me out out credit card debt. Since then, I have had nothing but positive experiences. For my spending habits, they offer the best rewards. Last month I got $57 in rewards. Their online banking and account management is easy to use. Customer service is excellent. Fraud detection is excellent and they called me when an issue came up last year before I knew anything was wrong. Discover has been an excellent bank to work with and I look forward to many more years with them.
Was told I was not telling the truth, and when given bank's phone no to verify info Discover refused to do so. Would never ever use a Discover Card again. BTW my credit score is 750. And I do not lie.

Best card EVER, period! Awesome customer service and even more awesome cardholder rewards. I use it as my primary card because it's like leaving money on the table otherwise, given their cashback rewards and other great perks.
No, I do not work for Discover Bank, nor am I affiliated in any way. Just a satisfied consumer. I am tired of paying interest on credit cards, and never seeing the balance dropping by much. I went to a bank I had been doing business with for years (and paid off 2 mortgages) and they gave me the run around. Maybe they ran out of money to lend? Right. So I decided to apply to Discover through an Email I received from them. I found them to be very respectful, professional, and eager to make it work for me. Within the day, I had my approval! Thanks Discover for a pleasant experience!
I had a horrible experience and was ripped off by Capital One's Credit Card division. You won't find a company with worst customer service. They flat out lied. As a result, I canceled my account. I had also banked with Capital One 360 since they bought out ING and liked them, but since its the same parent company, didn't want to continue to patronize a dishonest company. I went searching for a new online bank and saw an article showing the best ones. Needless to say, cap One was not on that list! Discover bank was, and I liked what I saw, including the highest paying interest rate for savings out there. I switched and have not regretted it. The customer service is wonderful. MORE important, their call centers are ALL IN THE US! NO dealing with people with garbled accents that speak "English" but really don't understand the concepts behind the words. Discover Bank's reps are POLITE, well educated in the products and VERY HELPFUL! Needless to say, both hubby and I now have Discover credit cards as well. Discover Bank is really like what their commercials show on TV... polite, helpful AMERICANS! So great to see a US business keeping its jobs in the US and not offshoring! Can't recommend them highly enough! Great company!
Discover credit card charged me a late fee twice this year. My payment was due on the 4th of each month. And I always mailed it by the first which should have given them plenty of time for processing. They delayed the processing so they could charge the fee. I wrote and asked for an explanation but in contrast to their policy they never responded in writing. Instead they said they attempted to contact me by telephone (a deliberate lie) and made me call them. The late fees were reversed, but only because I complained. I would not trust a company which violates it's own written policy and deliberately lies. I cancelled the card..
Been a Discover Card customer for 29 years. Always paid my balance off every month. Recently when on vacation we ran into a situation where they could not email monthly bill. Most other cards can. Ended up with late charges when on vacation even though I normally pay extra every month. Their response was less than satisfactory. Then we had an issue last month whereas they stated that the payment was 2 days late even though my bank records indicated that the payment was 2 days early. I disputed the $35.00 late charge but they refused to eliminate it. I sent a letter to their customer service section which remains unanswered. Go figure? It is hard to believe that they would end our relationship over this questionable practice. If you have a Discover card you may want to review your monthly bills to see if they are charging you late fees which are not deserved. I have cancelled my Discover card. Amex should be their target for customer service.
This online bank has the best online interest rates.
This credit card is ridiculous, had to dispute a charge with a merchant, who sent me the wrong order, I provided not only pics of what I ordered but of what was sent, also tracking number and address including email from merchant getting item back, discover still is letting the merchant dispute the chargeback a second time? I did all of discovers work and downloaded more then suffient proof of return, next ill file a fraud claim with the postal service. Discover sucks!
Spent an immense amount of time inputting biographical, education, and work history, only to hear back from them 3 months later. FAIL!
Good deals on credit cards but no one takes them so what's the point.
I don't know where else to put this so here goes. People! Did you know that Discover credit card company will issue a one time use credit card number that doesn't cost a cent extra? Sure it takes a minute (or less) but the headaches it saves are unbelievable. No more bogus charges showing up on your bill. No more having to get a new card issued. Your "shorthairs" will once again be free! HA, take that you rip off web sites.
No one takes Discover credit cards, but they give you good deals! - Everyone laughs at me when I pull out my discover card: "Who takes that crap?!" Well, the answer is almost no one takes it! But still, I love it when they do. Because no one takes Discover, and Discover knows that, they offer some pretty sweet deals to card holders. I got some 5% cash back plus rewards points deal and a lower APR than on my Visa, Mastercard, etc. I know it's a pain because only 1 in 4 places I go take it, but I still feel like I'm getting a deal with the points and the cash back. I always use it to get gas and to buy things online. Also the customer service is pretty good. Definitely better than my crappy Chase Visa.
