Discover closed my account after 8 years of excellent on time payments. They tried to say the reason they closed the account was because they could not get my income information. Which is not true. I would have given them the information. They closed my account because I would not allow them or Equifax to 'view' my W2s. I am happy they closed the account because I refuse to do business with any company that believe they can violate my privacy. My W2s have nothing to do with my payment history.

Discover still requires ALL payments to go thru ACH, a system set up for bank to bank not customer transfers. Consequently, Discover can rarely help defrauded customers. Lack of useful and honest Customer Service is another reason to avoid.

There was a fraudulent account opened in my name at Discover bank, I called the Discover fraud line for the bank and after three hours of being on hold they hung up on me so I called back and was on hold for another three hours and they hung up again. The next morning I called at 6am and was on hold for an hour before someone answered the call. I explained to him what had happened, he said they would send me a letter within 10 days stated the account was closed. I asked if they had my address so they knew where to send the letter to and he did not know, I gave him my address. He never gave me a case number or a better way to check on the issue. After a week I received a debit card in the mail so after a few more days I called Discover back, after two hours they hung up on me again. I called back into the fraud line from two different phones and have been on hold again for almost two hours.

I would never bank with Discover.

I received a new card in my previous married name from over 10 years ago. I called their fraud line and over the past week I've been disconnected while a recording said "try again later", "due to high call volumes", waited 3 hour and 2 minutes and then they disconnected the call. Called today 6/30/22 and said the wait time was 2 hours. It's been 2 hours 45 minutes. This card that was sent to be was either sent to me in error by Discover OR someone stole my information and now has an account out there. Either way I am unable to get a hold of anyone to help me! It's amazing that if you want to open a new card, there is no wait time. But if you call the help line/fraud line, you cannot get anyone on the phone to help.

Had a terrible experience with Discover Card - as I closed my account with them and unfairly reported me late on my credit for accrued interest post closing to which Discover failed to property informed me. Even when account set up on automatic debit - Discover charged me also for three late charges on past due interest to which they later admitted to have done in error however later refused to correct my credit and which damaged it and sunk it from the low 800s down to mid 600s. Stay away from this company

I am relatively new to credit. I had less than one year in but at the time held a credit builder Quicksilver card which ramped my scores up to about 740 all around. I kept getting messages saying I was preapproved, matched, and etc for the Discover It card. I applied and was instantly approved for a $1000 line of credit which i wasnt too worried about. After i was approved for the card i read a few forums on the Discover It card. I learned cardholders accounts are being suspended and new applicants, along with select others, are getting hit with a request to sign IRS form 4506 for release of X number of years tax records. IRS Form 4506r must be completed to continue on with Disco. They say they need it for income verification. They are not accepting any alternative means to verify income. Peoples credit is getting reeled in and some cases stopped because of discrepancies in the 4506 findings or a refusal to comply with the request. My plastic Discover It card finally arrived by mail. There is a sticker on the face of the card that has a telephone number you are supposed to call to activate the card. I called and instead if activating the card I said, "Lets just forget about activating this card, i dont want it, please cancel me out". The banker i was on the phone with asked a couple questions to make sure I didn't want to activate the card and to go ahead and cancel this card which she did forthwith. Im against sharing my tax info to a third party corporate. Disco has selected Equifax to verify cardholder's income but a corporate is known to sort thru, buy, sell, or broker my tax records potentially uncovering political contributions, healthcare, and lifestyle which can certainly be gleened from a tax record examination. The more info you put into cyberspace the bigger chance of data mishaps. The potential for a data breach, or other $#*!-a-doodie all involved in determining my credit worthiness isnt worth it IMHO. My scores did a spectacular nosedive on that fiasco but i quickly recovered in just 3 or 4 months. I applied to others and now have 3 big league cards. I dont need Disco riding in my wallet. No thank you please.

Got a new 'miles' card so as to take an overseas flight to Tel Aviv for my grandson's bar Mitzvah. Have been a customer for over 3 years. And have a credit limit of over $17,000. My FICO score is 799. Discover would not increase the miles card by $1000. To help facilitate our trip. All the phone reps were or so sad that Discover wouldn't increase, but no one was available to override the policy & procedure. FICO SCORE = 799...
OTHER DISCOVER CARD HAS A CREDIT LIMIT OF $17,100 OF WHICH OVER $15,000 WAS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. I HAVE CANCELLED BOTH CARDS IMMEDIATELY AND WILL NEVER, REPEAT NEVER APPLY FOR OR ACCEPT ANOTHER DISCOVER CARD AS LONG AS I LIVE. EVEN THE PEOPLE WHO ANSWERED TO PHONES COULD NOT BELIEVE IT.

I filed for a dispute with Discover after I was overcharged 50% on a purchase I did not consent to. After a 3 way call with a investigator, I was promised a refund by the merchant and discover. Since then, Discover has refused to follow through and help me get my money back. The dispute agents were inconsistent, careless, and were just rude. They refused to give me notes on my own file and I will now be working with my attorney. Basically, if you want a bank who you can trust and who will follow through, don't bank with Discover.

I left my card at a small retailer. The sales clerk, trying to be helpful, called Discover to ask them to let me know they had it so I could pick it up. Discover immediately cancelled my account and assigned another number and card. After they cancelled that account number, Discover sent an email, which I didn't see for hours. No phone call or text. I don't believe that I am the only person who doesn't check email constantly. I could have frozen the account once I knew. When I called Discover, the agent said it was not possible to stop the cancellation nor could I talk to a supervisor. I said that it was not stolen or lost. Didn't matter. It was 10 days before I received the new card! I cannot tell you how livid I still am. I have probably 15 auto payments connected to that Discover number I have had for several years. It will take hours to re-enter all that information. The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM DISCOVER EVER! Customer since 1987. But my guess is that Discover did not want to have to pay any charges IF the card was stolen or lost. I would have closed the account but Discover does offer the best cash back % on purchases.

Been with Discover Card since 2007. In December 2021, Google Play charged my card $84.68 for an Epoch Times android app subscription. I did not make that charge. I provided numerous forms of documentation from the Epoch Times proving I do not have an subscription, that I do not own an android, and that Google showed no such subscription under my account. Apparently, Google Play collected money from my Discover Card and pocketed it for themselves. Having worked in the legal field for 28 years as an investigator, I made sure I closed any excuse Google Play could give Discover. However, Discover approved the charge claiming they received a document from Google Play which convinced them that I had in fact made the charge. Not only did I never receive said document, they never informed me what was Google was alleging. Discover pushes security above everything, but allows fraudulent charges to be made against their customer. So, after 15 years, I'm closing my Discover Card account. I suggest you do the same.

I was really excited to actually have my own savings account made in Discover, but when I found out the hassle they have made it I was pissed. They make it so you can't connect the account to your credit card account until a full month later, and then if by chance you aren't still able to fund that account, they'll just close it and make you go through that whole process again. Sure the APY is nice at that, but their system just plain sucks. There's better banks out there.

Canceled my card after 30 years due to paying it off and not using for a year. Have spent over $******* on this card over the years and the only other card in my wallet.
Felt like I was tossed aside due to inactivity in the last year.
I will find another card and can assure it will not be a discover. Will not deal with a company with no loyalty or appreciation.

Garbage

They increase your limit and if you use some of it, keeping it under 30% just to build credit and pay it off 100% before your due date, your credit score drops by 35 points. I don't even need this card! Doesn't matter if you pay in small amounts or all at once. Absolute s**t. Thanks for the $20 bucks cash back after a year! Just avoid these guys and every credit card you can. TRASH...

On 12/4/21, I ordered tinnitus remedies online, total $191.85. The next day, 12/5/21, after reading horrible reviews, I emailed to cancel order. The day after that, 12/6/21, Customer Service emailed me: order was successfully cancelled, shipment cancelled, full refund would be refunded to my card within 5-10 business days. I waited until 12/24/21. No refund. I filed dispute with Discover. They created three disputes. Temporary credit. Some sleazy outfit named Stripe! Inc. Submitted fraudulent and misleading papers with UPS Tracking # and "Shipped/Billed Dec 5". I had told Discover all the details of the cancellation, including copies of the email from Cust Serv at the Company (Supreme Organics) acknowledging cancellation, no shipment, promised credit. I also included UPS tracking documentation that UPS had Never received the package, therefore never shipped it. However, Discover has decided to ignore my documentation, and decided that $125.85 is a valid charge. Period. Makes no sense. I cancelled order. Company acknowledged I cancelled order. UPS Tracking # was not shipped. Yet, I am paying $125.85 plus $9. For nothing. Discover a few days ago credited me $57. The total was broken up into three charges, three dispute numbers. Yet, there was no product. All in one order, which was cancelled. No one should ever trust Discover.

Fraud Tactics
January 25, 2022

I had began paying off a bunch of my debts. Long story short, I paid off my ENTIRE $10,000 balance of my discover card. Not even a month later, they lowered my limit by 80%! This has put me into extraordinary finance distress and nearly another hospital visit for mental reasons. I called discover about solutions and the first rep I spoke to was completely ignorant and soulless. He was of no help and just constant bad news with no light at the end of the tunnel. I spoke to another rep about possibly closing the card. He asked if I wanted to close, I initially said yes, however asked about other options. He began speaking about options and I began to give other questions, but then I lost connection. The card was then closed upon me calling back. The $10,000 I paid toward my discover card was after nearly 3 years of perfect, on-time payments. Again, not even a month later my limit was lowered by 80%. I struggle to pay my car and may potentially lose my apartment I share as a single father with my son. I am not even 30 with a 12 year old boy. These tactics by discover have literally brought havoc upon my life.
