Ever been rejected by a debit card company. That's right, no one does. I was though and the only reason is to collect up people's information to commit identity theft/sale of your information. When you collect people's information and not give them the product or service, that is what's know as theft. Since I gave them all my information and they did not give me a debit card, they stole my information. Then without my permission sent a rejection letter to my physical address instead of being professional adults and emailing me or calling me. I asked them why they didn't email and they lied and said they could not email me. That's kinda funny since they sent me emails acknowledging my upload of my identity verification. I dodged a bullet with these identity stealing thieves. Now I have to spend time reporting them for fraud and theft to the DOJ, FDIC and FTC. I dodged a bullet with these P.O.Ss

Secured card GARBAGE
March 12, 2025

Secured card GARBAGE! I sent them $500 for a secured card and after a few weeks they told me I woul ;d get a card in a couple of days, then they contacted me to sign some more papers and after I did they said I had to provide Notarized documents and would about 6 weeks before I could use the card and until then the account is frozen and I can't use my money or the card. I said just close the account and refund my money...14 Feb 2025 I was told it would take 16 business days since the card was never activated. I called on the 17th business day 28th calendar day and was told that they are gonna keep my money for an additional MONTH. This business is a scam to use your money without paying you interest! Save yourself the grief DON'T USE THIS BUSINESS!

Don't trust them
February 22, 2024

Reported a stolen card with 2000 in unauthorized charges, they applied a credit then took it back when I refused to contact police myself. This was after 4 call center agents mocked me and hung up without making any notes in the account. Only when I asked for a supervisor did they take any actions.
Don't trust them.

Crooks
July 26, 2024

Took out a balance transfer for 0% for a year. Paid it off by the Due date but unfortunately had taken out another one at 2.99% for another year. Well the payments go to your minimum payment, which was the first balance transfer and anything you pay over goes to the highest % rate. So I paid them over $3000 to pay off my transfer due in June 2024 but instead they paid off my new bal trans with the 2.9% interest and jacked my old bal transfer to 17.24%. Oh, buy they're sorry it was in their 4 page disclosure. Closed my account and will NEVER do business with discover again.

Discover Personal Loans has truly lost its way. I've been a loyal Discover customer for over 10 years, never missing a payment on my credit cards, mortgages, and HELOC loans. But over the last 3 years, something has changed, and not for the better.

Recently, I applied for a consolidation personal loan to simplify my finances during a temporary setback caused by external factors. With a credit score of 760 and a DTI around 31%, I expected Discover to understand my impeccable history and be willing to work with me. Instead, I had to deal with an underwriter who could barely understand English, which is a huge issue when making a major financial decision. This isn't a criticism of where they're from—it's just a fact that clear communication is crucial in underwriting a loan.

Despite being a long-time, responsible customer, Discover treated me like a risk they couldn't take. Meanwhile, I was offered the exact same loan from LightStream at a rate that was 4% better! That's a massive difference that speaks volumes about Discover's attitude toward customer loyalty.

If you're considering a personal loan, do yourself a favor: stay far away from Discover and check out other lenders like LightStream. They'll treat you with respect and give you a better deal. If this review helps even one person avoid the disaster of dealing with Discover, it'll have been worth every second of my time.

Ripoff Rates
December 15, 2023

This is the most rapacious credit card company in the core industry group. I have been a customer in good standing for years and yet my interest rate continues to go up – at 28% currently. I called to complain and was referred to a representative who deals with "hardship" issues. Hardship issues!? And was given the option to suspend the account (read close the account) and make payment at 16% for a 1 year period. At the end of which I would have to re-apply. Re-apply? Worst than loan sharks and Tony from around the corner.

Hire better people
March 2, 2024

Called in to ask about my card, got no help and when I tried to find solutions person on phone tried to make my problem seem like its little. There's no way I've created an account and can't access my funds. Everyone has a virtual card, maybe you should do the same. Hire better people for customer service. As soon as my card comes in canceling this account.

Discover canceled my card with a $4,000 limit and never a late payment. No call from them. When I called them, I asked why. They said because I didn't update my financials with them. They didn't ask. I've never seen that with any cards before. Bad company. Don't apply with them. And if you have a card with them, beware because closing an account hurts your credit. Really a careless organization. When I called they said it's irreversible. Really poor way of doing business.

Terrible company
December 9, 2023

Because of their fault, I missed several payments resulting the reduce of my credit score. I then cotacted the company, and they enrolled me into a program which will suspend my account without letting me know. So, my account was suspended now. They also leaked my privacy information.
This is terrible company, don't use their service.

I am on the Do Not Call list and I am also registered with the credit bureaus and the Direct Marketing outfit to limit junk mail. I do not want any credit card applications mailed to me unsolicited, yet Discover sends me about 5 pre-approved offers a month. To get off this mailing list I never signed up for, I am supposed to give my social security number to some blind 800# they include in their junk mail to get off the list. Why do I have to jump through endless hoops to get off a mailing list that sends me half a pound of useless paper every month? Pre-approved offers are invitations for mail theft and identity theft and I do not want any of this junk sent to me. I will never apply for this cruddy card. Stop harassing me with junk mail!

There was a charge made on my discover card that I did not make, so i called and disputed the charge and my card was reported lost/stolen. I got a new card and they gave me a temporary credit of the disputed charge. I thought it was taken care of until I was recharged for the same amount. It was stated as a "temporary credit reversal." I called discover several times and every person I spoke with would apologize and say that I would be issued a refund within a certain amount of business days. Days would pass and I still never got a refund. I still don't understand why my refund hasn't been issued and apparently neither does anyone from discover since they keep telling me I will get the refund and aren't sure why I haven't yet. I do not feel protected at all with discover since someone can steal my card info and I still am expected to pay for the stolen amount.

Closing account
January 20, 2023

Loyal customer, always paid bill in full before due date. Process of moving ex roommate used my card for junk removal without my permission. Filed report w police. Made claim on card. Investigator called and accused me of lying, slammed my character and was so aggressive and rude! Been going back and forth since September 2022! It's such a small amount I should just pay to have it over BUT I'm fighting it only for the principal of the matter BUT to prove that investigator wrong! Once over I'm closing account and posting to my social media followers.
This tactic Discover is using doesn't intimidate me!

Discover Card Really?
January 16, 2016

Been a Discover Card customer for 29 years. Always paid my balance off every month. Recently when on vacation we ran into a situation where they could not email monthly bill. Most other cards can. Ended up with late charges when on vacation even though I normally pay extra every month. Their response was less than satisfactory. Then we had an issue last month whereas they stated that the payment was 2 days late even though my bank records indicated that the payment was 2 days early. I disputed the $35.00 late charge but they refused to eliminate it. I sent a letter to their customer service section which remains unanswered. Go figure? It is hard to believe that they would end our relationship over this questionable practice. If you have a Discover card you may want to review your monthly bills to see if they are charging you late fees which are not deserved. I have cancelled my Discover card. Amex should be their target for customer service.

Discover credit card charged me a late fee twice this year. My payment was due on the 4th of each month. And I always mailed it by the first which should have given them plenty of time for processing. They delayed the processing so they could charge the fee. I wrote and asked for an explanation but in contrast to their policy they never responded in writing. Instead they said they attempted to contact me by telephone (a deliberate lie) and made me call them. The late fees were reversed, but only because I complained. I would not trust a company which violates it's own written policy and deliberately lies. I cancelled the card..

Garbage
February 10, 2022

They increase your limit and if you use some of it, keeping it under 30% just to build credit and pay it off 100% before your due date, your credit score drops by 35 points. I don't even need this card! Doesn't matter if you pay in small amounts or all at once. Absolute s**t. Thanks for the $20 bucks cash back after a year! Just avoid these guys and every credit card you can. TRASH...
