Wife and I went on a shopping binge for mid century furniture... spending literally thousands of dollars... a big mistake. Furniture represented as excellent is anything but... the pics you see are photo shopped and are NOTHING even close as represented. The creative word choices... the Chairish pledge to protect the buyer... the shipping delays and cost... outrageous. We never take the time to write reviews but we made the exception here... DONT buy and DONT DEAL with Chairish or vendors
Cynthia S. I bid on this chair and waited the 72 hours, no one else bid. It expired and all I got was a lousy note stating that Charish takes full responsibility that the seller didn't respond. REALLY! Seems like I would have won this chair by default. This is not the only time that a seller has not responded. Why put your chair on Charish if you don't respond to a genuine query? This is NOT GOOD BUSINESS. I could have purchased a chair somewhere else if I knew Charish would handle buiness like this, This is horrible business practices. I should contact the BBB. Charisg take some responsibility and just don't send an I'm Sorry note. Stand by your buiness and make sellers follow through on the sale.
I recently almost bought a bamboo mirrored 8 panel screen on chairish. Blue Moon Antiques and Couture, the seller, blatantly lied about the condition saying it was "excellent" with "no loss of bamboo on any of the panels". Then I paid a shipper to pick them up after purchasing, but my shipper told me they were not in good condition with pieces of bamboo poorly glued on and chunks missing which seller deceptively did not disclose even when I specifically asked. Although chairish gave my money back, they refused to reimburse me for the shipping charge I had to pay to reject screens because of dishonest seller's condition report. Then they let the seller re-list so they could still make money off the sale although they did make her admit condition flaws. This was only 2 of the screens, and who knows what else was wrong with the rest. My shipper recommended after having seen just 2, that I should reject the panels.
They will not accept the return of our PAINTED oriental rug even with photos and a professional rug cleaner's statement that rug can not be cleaned. Buyers beware! Once they have your money they no longer care about protecting the customer. They recently changed their return policy to protect themselves against any issues that may arise. They just want your money - no customer service here.
We have had nothing but happy outcomes dealing with Chairish. Terrific staff. The idea of buying high quality furniture that other people don't need anymore appeals to me.
I have tried to reach Chairish for 3 days now with no response. I have emailed them on Facebook - nothing. I have called them since they claim customer service is available 7 days a week. LIE! The item I sold has been delivered since last week - I provided them a receipt of delivery and I have still not heard back from them. After reading all these review- I hope I don't get screwed. I wish I would have read them before.
Having a terrible experience Can't get paid for item I sold in March. Please let me know how to get in touch with a senior executive Customer service is trying to help but failing
Found a nice piece. Decided to give it a try. Made an offer within $10 of the asking price, which is part of their process. That's when I saw the service fees. Seller came back with counter offer of the asking price. The next day the item was showing a price of over $100 more which seemed a bit cagey to me. I'll find something else I like. Forget it.
These people are so caring, they have great design sense and they want to make their customers happy! You'll find terrific looking things on their site. It makes me want to ditch all my current furniture and start over. I love their photos of pieces that work together.
I adore scanning the Chairish inventory to find inspiration for my decorating quandries. I love the diversity of inventory and the way it allows me to think outside the box. Thank you Chairish staff! No more trudging around to store after store for me!
I love the products the website is easy to navigate and make an offer is nice
The problem is shipping. I am paying over 700.00 to ship something and I have no idea where it is after 7 weeks of waiting and the company has my money. You email to find out and you get "in transit" has been in transit for 7 weeks. Then I was told it takes longer to come or go to rural settings. I live in Phoenix and the item came from Chicago. Really?
The white glove service is all hoped up and I'm positive chair is his getting a cut of this too. It's simply to expensive for a third party carrier to charge. You would think they would have discount rates for their clients for bulk. If I don't get my items by next week they will be cancelled and a lawsuit as I am a lawyer.
Bottom line. Great items but screwed up shipping made me erase all of the other items I wanted to buy.
I recently moved into a new home and Chairish has been my go-to source for adding new items that are unique yet affordable. I've sourced numerous things from Chairish including larger pieces (media console, night stands) to smaller decorative objects. They have a great curated selection of all styles and all of my pieces have arrived in perfect condition.
Not sure what all the negative reviews regarding shipping are for but their 3rd party for shipping has always been super prompt, and very easy to work with.
The shipping can be expensive but you can usually bid a lower price that off sets any of the fees.
As shopping is not one of my favorite activities, I was delighted to discover Chairish.
The site is easy to use and I love the different categories enabling me to go directly to the items I want. I was amazed by the variety of choices available. The augmented reality aspect enabled me to make a better decision regarding how the chair would fit in my home. Finding the piece on sale capped a perfect experience.
Chairish has become my go to shopping site for unique furnishings and home decor. I used it to put together a beautiful selection of vintage barware including Pierre Cardin rocks glasses, a Dorothy Thorpe cocktail pitcher and several vintage ice buckets. And now they have an augmented reality tool that you can use to see if a piece of furniture or art will look great in your home. I used it to see how a lucite lamp would look in my living room. Perfect! The lamp looks great and it is so much fun to shop that way!
Can't believe how many incredible, unique finds on Chairish. Love that I don't need to dig around to find the gems. I had a great buying experience and shipping was super easy. Would recommend to anyone!
Had a wonderful experience. Product what I expected and delivery in good condition and on time. Would use them again in a minute
Bought several things from Chairish and always have had good experiences. Like that it's curated. Stuff is easy to find. Make An Offer is a great option. Any questions I've had, their customer service team has been quick to respond. Great experience.
After spending close to 2K on a piece of furniture, I cannot get it delivered. You never speak with a human being; they hold your money and you spend hours trying to get a delivery. Never again. They should be sued. I just may have to.
Despite being well merchandised, the complete lack of transparency on this site makes me not want to transact with them. As if the 20% charge to sellers is not enough, Chairish also hits the buyer with a "Service Charge" of about 3%. Unless something has changed recently, nowhere on the site is this clearly quantified.
In addition, their shipping charges are often preposterous. They hide behind a canned reply:
"We do understand that in many cases our flat rate shipping charges may seem high as compared to traditional retailers. We do not mark up our shipping costs but most of our listings are one of a kind, preowned and unpackaged. As a result they require professional packaging to ensure that they make it to their new home in one piece."
If it is not them that is marking up the shipping and handling, someone is and they certainly are not providing any oversight to ensure the charges are fair.
I purchased a shelving system that was delivered partially broken.
The back and forth with "customer service" took so long that they completely stopped listening to my original complaint of paying too much for a broken product, and I ended up paying for "white glove delivery" of a broken piece of *. Like my shelf, Chairish is a piece of *.

Answer: Mary, because, simply put, it's a truly freaking awful place to be a seller. Yes, their commission is huge, but that's not even the beginning of the problem. It's also true that on the outside, it looks like a relatively professional, albeit middling enterprise and buyers trust it at first. I understand why you ask this question. But the people behind the scenes, every single one of them from VP's down, are disgustingly petty, cruel, dishonest, manipulative, cold, strange, socially inept, paranoid and just disrespectful people. They treat sellers like absolute garbage, suspect them of the worst, offer no freedom as to the listing, barely can get something listed in 2 or 3 weeks, then suddenly they all list at 2 am on a Sunday with messed up pictures. The more you sell, the more hateful they become toward you. Every time you ask for them to fix or help with something, they keep score. Every time a client has a question about their order or cancels or returns an order, they keep tabs as well. Use this information against you any chance they get. You willl never get paid. By never I mean in order to get paid, you will have to send multiple emails in the months after your sale in the hopes that someone might look up the tracking number you provided and mark the order as delivered. These emails will also count toward that tab. They will try anything not to pay you. They will lie and say a tracking number is fraudulent or that the package never sent... holding your money. They will say the customer hasn't confirmed delivery. They can barely answer simple support questions, nonetheless keep tabs of every order tracking, delivery and payment status. When I say it's a disaster, I am not exaggerating. They also scam the uship couriers and buyers out of any last penny they can. They will violate their own terms of service without a second thought. They will never hold themselves accountable for the mistakes that happen on their end. And if you speak out at all, you will be threatened and your account closed. It's a tragic, tragic place to do business and is tantamount to a scam operation.
Answer: I'm asking myself the same question, but not only do you provide your credit card information in advance, but they actually CHARGE your card for the offer amount BEFORE the seller even sees OR accepts the offer! If they don't accept it, then you have to wait 3-5 business days to receive a refund! Are you kidding me? They are making interest off of the week that YOUR money is in THEIR account! How can this be legal for you to pay for something that may not even be available for the price you have offered? And I'm being charged $19 to ship a small boudoir pillow PLUS a $5 SERVICE FEE which goes to Chairish for "administrative & credit card fees"? I am totally disgusted
Answer: All Chairish offers is a public comment space which the seller can ignore to its advantage (as happened to me). I posted comments that were ignored, too. I suspect that Chairish cares only about shipping, for which it charges an outrageous $299+
