This review is for cars.com's instant offer business, where you can sell your car to them similar to Carvana, CarMax, Vroom and others. In selling my car I received eight separate quotes and the offer from cars.com was the highest by $1,121. When I brought my car to the local dealership as instructed by cars.com I was under the impression that the process would be similar to CarMax's and Carvana's, where they will pay you the offer price unless something doesn't check out during the final inspection, like the condition of car, extra miles, missing options, etc. Once this dealer affiliated with cars.com was done with the inspection their actual offer was well below the original offer. I balked and asked why the large difference? I told the appraiser that I had received much higher offers, including cars.com's original offer. He came back and bumped it up by $1,000 but still $1,925 below original offer. He proceeded to talk about the market and what he could get for the car, etc. All fine and I have no issues with the appraisal, but why tell me my car is worth $X and then two days later tell me it's $X minus $1,925? This is the problem with cars.com. It doesn't stack up to Carvana or CarMax. Those places will give you the quoted offer unless something is off. It appears as if cars.com gives you a high offer and when you get to the inspection they pull the rug under you. To me that is a complete waste of everyone's time and a disingenuous business model. Pay what you say you're going to pay. I will stick to Carvana and CarMax and avoid cars.com.
I posted my car & in the 1st few days had at least 7 hits, all fraudulent buyers. I had 0 REAL buyers & it's been posted for a month. These scammers are persistent & you're not sure at 1st so you spend a lot of time with each contact (time wasted). I complained to admin of this site & they just didn't care that they are being used for this purpose. They had a link to click for fraud warnings but when you click on it you get no info, just takes you back to the site sales. There are many different types of scams & they should not only be warning us but if we get messages from scammers through their site they should be blocking them & they don't. Very disappointed! I put a sign on my car & sold it in a week.
I'm helping a friend look for used cars and have been using a few "go to" websites but thought I would change it up and try others. I came to cars.com which their website looks aesthetically pleasing but at the same it seems as if all the cars are gone and have been sold?! After attempting to look at 6 cars I was done with the website. Sorry to say but I say 1 star until I start actually seeing some used cars for sale!
I actually purchased a new car through Cars.com and it was a good experience. The dealer was not as familiar with registration rules, etc., for Washington State, but other than that, the car arrived as promised and I was happy with the transaction. The local dealers just didn't have the car I wanted and so I thought I'd give it a try. The experience is highly dependent on the quality of the dealership, but in my case, it all worked out better than I was expecting. I was also surprised to see that dealers actually kept their listings current.
Yep, if you're looking for an automobile, you must check out Cars.com.
Why? Because to be the most educated consumer prepared to pay a fair price for a good auto, you need great info... a lot of it!
That info is here. You can research any make of auto to your hearts content (with no pressure) as to what is available in your area. I promise... after a bit of research here, you'll know quite clearly what a fair price is for your new/used car will be.
Check it out...
Berkenkotter Motors provided Great Customer Service and we had an enjoyable buying experience with text driving vehicles. The Sales Team worked with us on deciding on a safe and dependable Pick-Up for a 16 year old's first vehicle. They have a great warranty options and went through the Pick-Up and made sure that everything was working and functional during the sales process. They were very easy to work with and have some great vehicles to chose from. We will be returning customers. Great Experience and recommend going to Berkenkotter Motors.
I listed my car on cars.com and immediately started getting creepy phone calls and texts from scammers. The worst part is that cars.com had me enter my phone number but its not available for anyone viewing my ad. This means that scammers have instant access to this data. Most of the message asked if my car was for sale and how much I was asking. If they read the ad they would know this information. Instead they have my phone number and not much else. This site should be investigated or reported to the better business bureau.
Cars.com is very cool! But you must be a smart shopper. The site is like one giant dealer, some cars are total lemons when you get to see them in person, others are very good. One feature i love about cars.com is the research. You can find information on just about any vehicle you want. Very helpful shopping tool!
I had some minor issues when looking for cheaper cars and when I click sometimes I would get "access denied" error. Was confusing. Figured out later that the default year is very recent while I wanted something older. Otherwise the search functionality is great and all the additional information is terrific.
Dealers beware about signing up with cars. This company supports false reviews. If a person writes a bogus review against you, there nothing they will do to help resolve the issue.
My local sales rep was fantastic! However both personel in the "reviews department" were rude and unprofessional in their responses.
Everything stays on there website whether your a customer or not.
Recently purchased a 2013 Toyota Tacoma Full Cab. The experience was great. Everyone from Managers to Sales person was very polite, knowledgeable, and professional especially the sales person. He answered all my questions and made you feel comfortable in deciding which vehicle you wanted to purchase. I give 5 stars out of 5 and recommend this dealership for your next car, SUV or truck.
I've owned more than 50 automobiles, dealt with many dealers and at Galeana Kia they've provided the best service ever with no pressure and sharp pricing. Their inventory was great the service efficient and all the people well-trained and polite. On a scale of 1 to 10 they're an 11. RIc C. In Ft Myers, FL
Like most online car search engines - cars.com search engine is awful. It will flood you with cars that don't match your criteria - even when it shows a match. They don't enforce any kind of seller standards, so sell descriptions are vague to almost non-existent - if not completely incorrect. I can't tell you the number of times I have tried to confirm particulars only to find that the cars.com seller's car really doesn't have the features advertised. Unless you're looking for a generic car with nothing particular in mind - cars.com, like autotrader and cars. Direct and carguru - is essentially a very big waste of time.
My family was in desperate need of a safe and reliable car. We were so lucky to encounter help from Andrew at Armen Chevy. He was very honest, helpful, and committed. We absolutely love our 2015 Malibu. I recommend him to anyone searching for a vehicle to fit their needs.
This business will not cancel your account! We had to block our credit card to get the account closed. Sent emails requesting cancellation with no response. Owner will not accept a phone call. When asked to speak to the owner told "He does not take calls. He hires people to do that". I would not accept calls either if I was doing unethical business practice like this!
I lease a car about 25 days ago at John eagle Acura
I want to share my experience so you don't make the same mistake I made. This dealers is not an honest bussines they sell you things that you did not ask for, and when you try to remove those things that they put not the cars they refuse to do it. Don't buy cars from this dealer they don't care for customers they just want your money. They also act that they care for you writing a response to them review but is not real, they never work with you to resolve the problems. I don't recommend this dealer go somewhere else. Go to Acura Autonation those guys know how to treat customer with respect.
Mathew Bayer, and everyone else at Greenwich Mercedes are great to deal with!
They are attentive, hospitable, friendly, knowledgeable, patient, dedicated, and just flat out on their best game all of the time. It's what I always hoped buying a car would be, and they made it super easy and fun for me! I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone who wants to purchase a Mercedes, and I wouldn't look any further, as you will get the best cars and service at this dealership.
Best car buying experience ever! Many thanks to John King who found exactly the car I wanted. No hidden fees, no pressure. The car was thoroughly checked out before I bought it. If you are looking for a car, I highly recommend Goldie's Motors.
I had a great experience with Allen and Mel. These guys were wonderful, like a Batman and Robin duo! Please, if you are considering a new JEEP remember to ask for these two guys. Thanks again the Marino team!
After having my posting up for a week it only had 13 views. Facebook marketplace was close to 200. Cars.com was the only posting I made including my phone number, and I received multiple robo calls from shady businesses about wanting to help me sell my car or "leave a message if you want to list an ad". So not worth it!
