I wondered if others shared my experience and sure enough here on sitejabber there are many folks who tried to leave a review with legitimate concerns on caring.com and were denied. I was hoping an honest review may let folks know what's going on with the residence, and also spur some action by the residence (since mom kept falling and falling and the residence wasn't communicating with me regarding a plan). I think caring.com is missing an opportunity to help hold some residences accountable - we as the public are just trying to IMPROVE the quality of service here for our loved ones. I tried getting that accomplished with the residence several times before going to caring.com to leave a review.

One of the frustrating points is that I look at other reviews for that residence on caring.com and other places and they are in CLEAR violation of guidelines because they are left by EMPLOYEES of the residence! And yet our honest fact based reviews are denied. It's a shame that caring.com seems to be empowering bad behavior by certain residences and then silence individuals who would like the truth to be shown.

I wanted to trust caring.com, but as many other folks here mention, their actions make it difficult to do so.

Jon, We take allegations of fake reviews or employee-posted reviews very seriously. Please contact reviews@caring.com ASAP so that we may investigate the page(s) on our website where you think there are reviews published by senior living employees. We will immediately audit every review on those pages (including re-evaluating the reviewer identity and content source data we have for those reviews), and remove any that violate our guidelines (which prohibit senior living community employees from publishing reviews on Caring.com). We can also assist you with publishing a negative, factually accurate review within guidelines. We seek to publish as many valid reviews as possible —regardless of rating. We currently have tens of thousands of negative consumer published publicly in our directory, and do not decline reviews simply because they’re negative. We hope to hear directly from you. Thank you!

I gave an honest and accurate review of my families experience concerning a Caring.com facility in Sebring Fl. They declined to post it because it was not very favorable. I can easily see how the facility gets a 4 1/2 star rating. They just toss out the bad reviews. The Palms in Sebring is the rehab/nursing home that I was referring to. Locals who I've talked to who also had experience with The Palms share my concern. They are understaffed and only offer bare bones care.

Our loved one is there to get the help she'll need to get home with the assistance of in home care. At this rate she'll die there. She's getting worse, not better because of their neglect. We're desperately seeking alternative options to get her out of there as soon as possible. It's important to me that others considering this facility take a serious look before committing a loved one to their care. The fact that Caring.com is burying negative reviews is a great disservice to the community.

Hi John, We publish negative reviews that meet the review guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines/ There are tens of thousands of negative reviews currently published on Caring.com, including some on the page where you submitted content too. We'll follow up with you directly and provide: more accurate information about why your initial submission was declined; how you can re-submit content within guidelines; and how to contact the long-term care ombudsman to investigate the serious allegations you're making about the nursing home's services. In the meantime, please contact reviews@caring.com if you have any additional questions about our high integrity reviews program and the guidelines we use to publish reviews of any rating. Thank you!

They couldn't help me when we needed them, now 3 months later after my mothers death they are still calling to find her a place. This is just horrible customer service!
I have left several messages to the corporate office and nobody has called me back. They just want the money. DO NOT USE THEM!

I left a one-star review of the hospice (Evergreen hospice, Kirkland, WA) on caring.com with the facts, including my complaint to WA DOH about this hospice. My mom used their services and I was her caregiver.
Caring.com deleted my review, because they don't allow "defamatory information".
It means that reviews on caring. Vom are not to be trusted.

Thanks for your feedback about our high-integrity consumer reviews program. There are tens of thousands of negative reviews published on our site currently, and we add hundreds more every month. We publish the reviews that meet the public-facing guidelines, and do prohibit defamatory content. We don't "delete" any of the review submissions. When we decline to publish a review that has content outside of the guidelines, we do give consumers an opportunity to resolve the issue(s) where possible, including submit a new review within guidelines that can be published. You may contact reviews@caring.com for support submitting a review within guidelines.

They do not want honest reviews of nursing homes on their list, Like most people would like to see. They only post the "rosy" little reviews that cater to the nursing homes. I tried posting twice to let others know what to expect for their loved ones if they go into certain places, and they would not post them. Fake dishonest reviews.

Hi Tim, You didn't mention which nursing home you were reviewing, so I wasn't able to research the specific reason(s) your review submissions were rejected. I'm happy to do so though if you email community@caring.com and provide the specific provider and/or email address you used for the review submission.

In general: Reviews on Caring.com can be positive, negative, or in-between, and are published or removed based on these Review Guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines Right now, in our skilled nursing directory alone, there are more than 10,000 negative (1-star and 2-star) reviews published. So it is possible for family caregivers and older adults to publish negative, honest reviews of nursing homes on Caring.com, if and when they read and heed the review guidelines. Please contact community@caring.com for further assistance. Thanks!

This site will not post negative comments. There are things that you witness in these assisted living facilities that you can not post a picture or post and employee interview. This site favors those bad facilities by not letting you tell the truth about them that you witness with your own eyes. Don't believe anything they post.

Hi, Care.com is a different company than Caring.com. We are not affiliated in any way. On Caring.com, there are currently about 26,000 negative 1-star and 2-star consumer reviews published about senior living communities and home care agencies. Those consumers were able to share their feedback within these review guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines/ Please contact community@caring.com if you need assistance with submitting a review. Caution
November 19, 2015

Be aware that as a customer you are not getting information about the best place for you or your loved one, you are only getting information about the places that will pay this company for an admission based on the referral. There are better options out there than these referral companies. And your information is given out despite your requests to not be contacted.

My 88 year old father got kicked out of his assisted living arrangement with no notice just as he was about to get out of rehab and go back. When we went to move his stuff out two days later, we found that we were already locked out of his apartment. These people are criminals and caring.com wouldn't post my review of them. This is something that people need to know. Caring.com said that they could get sued for defamation if they posted my review. Why even ask for reviews if they are afraid to post them? Shame on Merrill Gardens in Madison, Alabama for doing that to seniors, and shame on Caring.com for not presenting the truth when people submit it.

Hi Pat, We publish negative reviews that meet these Review Guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines There are currently tens of thousands of negative (1-star or 2-star) reviews published in our directory that met those guidelines. The reviewers themselves are legally liable for the content they publish on our site, and in some cases, can face defamation or libel lawsuits for the opinions they express publicly in the reviews. Thus, our review guidelines and rejection of potentially defamatory and libelous reviews can help family caregivers and older adults avoid such legal action from being brought against them. "These people are criminals" is a very serious allegation/accusation you've made against a senior living community's staff, and crimes against seniors should be reported to law enforcement and offline senior advocacy organizations, such as the long-term care ombudsman, for further investigation and prosecution if the criminal allegation is found to be accurate. For further information about Caring.com's reviews program, or for referral to information and resources for appropriately addressing concerns about an assisted living community, please contact community@caring.com. Thank you!

Caring.com lists senior living care and facilities, for free!... ok, the catch is that they will also sponsor or "enhance" your listing for an annual fee. They will also advertise the facility. In other words. Why allow a non favorable review for any company that is providing revenue for the company? You will see non favorable reviews. For companies that did not pay their annual fee. I would not recommend this site, it is very sad that this site would exploit families during a difficult time in their lives for monitory gain. Why not operate as a 501 c 3 and offer a service and solicit donations? Caring.com... shame on you.

Hi Jack, There are numerous senior living communities and home care agencies advertising on Caring.com who have negative consumer reviews published on their listings. Our reviews team doesn't consider the business' advertising status when processing reviews. Instead, reviews on Caring.com are published or removed based on these Review Guidelines (applied fairly across all listings and all reviews): https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines

Our organization was started by family caregivers to help other family caregivers (and older adults) make better decisions, save time and money, and feel less alone -- and less stressed -- as they face the many challenges of caregiving. Today we offer a wide range of senior care information, support and services free of charge to family caregivers and older adults in dedication to that founding social mission.

If you need any further information about the reviews program and/or our organization in general, please do contact our team at community@caring.com. Thanks Jack!

Ratings are Biased
August 23, 2017

I wrote a review of Sacred Heart in Saucon Valley, PA to alert consumers of this company's discriminatory practices and Caring.com would not post the review. Remember... the retirement communities who advertise on this site keep caring.com in business. Caring.com does not care about seniors or the families who advocate for them.

Hi Cathy, You're correct that senior care businesses advertise on our website so that we can provide 100% of our services, information and support free of charge to family caregivers and older adults (as part of our social mission). However, our reviews processors don't look at whether or not the business being reviewed is an advertiser or not -- the review guidelines are applied fairly across all reviews and all listings.

We are happy to discuss with you the specific reasons your review was rejected, and provide information to help you submit a review that is within these guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines Please contact community@caring.com for assistance. I believe this is the listing where you submitted your review: https://www.caring.com/local/assisted-living-facilities-in-center-valley-pennsylvania/sacred-heart-senior-living Be sure to include that link in your follow up message to community@caring.com to help expedite service to you. They make money from assisted living facilities. If they see a negative review with someone they work with, they will not publish. They state that you can inquire why but they will not respond. They don't care about giving an honest unbiased review. Complete frauds.

In the pursuit of accountability, I find
Myself compelled to voice a truth that stands in stark contrast to the public narrative. It appears there is a selective sieve in place, one that filters out the variegated experiences of real people, favoring instead the gleaming, unblemished accounts that serve a commercial agenda. The dissonance between the proclaimed impartiality and the reality of censored voices speaks to a deeper, more disquieting trend of discrimination for the sake of profit.

With evidence in hand and a commitment to the unvarnished truth, I turn to the Better Business Bureau to lay bare a practice that prioritizes financial gain over factual representation. If a five-star facade is meticulously curated by excluding the one to four-star realities, then the integrity of such a platform is, regrettably, in question. Transparency is not just a virtue; it is a cornerstone of trust. When that is compromised, it is not just the reviews that are diminished, but the very fabric of trust that binds us to institutions meant to serve our best interests.

Be careful with trying to review one of their providers. I had a horrendous experience with one of their providers and provided a fact based review to them. I went back and forth with them for one month to get the review published. They sided with their provider who stated some items were contested. In the end my review was sanitized as I still wanted to provide a review for my horrible experience and warn others. My experience with caring.com was horrible as well. The point of reviews ae to be informative based upon the customers experience. I did not have that experience with caring.com

Hi Scott, We're a neutral host of consumer reviews and don't take sides in disputes between consumers and listed businesses being reviewed.

We originally published your review content in September 2022; it initially appeared to meet the review guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines/

Your review was subsequently contested as factually inaccurate (counter facts were provided to Caring from the senior living community's business records in writing). This caused the review to be removed as potentially libelous.

We offered that you could submit new content within the review guidelines, in your own words, and that didn't repeat the contested facts. Unfortunately, we continued to receive from you some reviews that repeated the contested facts. We seek to publish as many reviews as possible, and hope you'll re-submit a review that doesn't contain potentially libelous content.

Please reach out to reviews@caring.com for any further assistance. Thank you!

Don't do it!
February 16, 2017

I signed up to receive a listing of assisted living places in my area... that's all I wanted. Almost instantly they started calling and calling and calling. I spoke with the lady from the first call and she gave me a few places in the price range I needed along with an appt to visit the place. After that the calls didn't stop... 2, 3, 4 times a day. I asked them twice to stop calling, and that I got the info i needed. When I would answer it was an Indian woman, so no doubt they weren't even in this country. Now I am receiving texts! So displeased with this service. Take my advice and do the research yourself!

Hi Melinda, We provide extensive lists and information about assisted living communities on our website without requiring the family caregiver or older adult to submit their contact information. Typically a family caregiver or older adult does submit their contact information when they do want our help finding a senior living community, and we do follow up to help them as quickly as possible. Our referral process also explains and includes connecting that family caregiver and older adult to senior living communities, who are likewise going to follow up via phone and/or email to provide the requested information. We're happy to look into your case further directly with you. Please contact community@caring.com for customer service. We'd appreciate the opportunity to research how your inquiry was handled, and see if there was anything we could do to improve your experience with our free senior care support.

Mary Stone, director, works tirelessly to follow all CDC policies during the COVID outbreak. She provides safely distanced indoor hall bowling, bingo, game afternoon, exercise to give her independent residents a little joy during shelter in place. I feel with daily temp checks and food delivery to her room, my mother, a resident of 3 years, is very safe and cared for at Heritage Woods. I highly recommend Heritage Woods to other families looking for a warm, welcoming facility for their loved one.

Anthony R. - If you are a senior living or senior care business owner, please contact community@caring.com to discuss your concern about the Caring.com reviews program. We have public-facing information about how communities and agencies get valid online reviews from their customers for publication on our website, and for businesses partnered with us, we offer free review generation services (including a free review call-in line that your customers can use to give a review of your services — we provide free marketing materials businesses can share with their customers to get those reviews). We'd also like to learn more about the interruption and monthly questions you referenced so that we can confirm the service experience you described and follow up with the account executive or account manager to address such concerns. It's possible your review wasn't meant for Caring.com but for another company, and we'd like to discuss this matter with you further. Please do contact us ASAP: community@caring.com. Thank you!

Very serious concerns about "caring.com". Important, accurate information posted on that site (and they refused to post it) and the attempted post was based on personal experience and facts easily and PUBLICLY noted about a horrible nursing home and instead, they kept posting more and more good reviews of the horrible nursing home where an elderly person was actually abused and it was even caught on camera. I am hoping that people will join and get a class action lawsuit against them. They can claim their "policies" but that does NOT mean they should post in ways that eventually show in total, MISLEADING information, when it also includes NOT posting more of the negative posts and posting more of the positive ones. I have seen them fight and fight to keep an accurate negative review OFF the site and instead keep posting good reviews making a nursing home with a very poor history sound good.

Hi K P., Caring.com publishes consumers' negative reviews that meet these Review Guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines You referenced that there is some "misleading information" on our website -- please do contact community@caring.com and tell us exactly where on our site you're seeing that information and why it is factually inaccurate. If you're referring to other consumers having a positive opinion of the nursing home you consider "horrible": each reviewer has and is entitled to his/her own opinion. We don't take down a positive review due to a different consumer having a negative review (or vice versa: we don't take down a negative review because other consumers had a positive experience/review). Each review is judged on its own merits against the guidelines. If you think a positive review currently published on our website doesn't meet the review guidelines: please do let us know which review and provide to us the substantiating information you have to support that opinion/allegation. We don't want inaccurate reviews in our directory, and will follow up to re-evaluate any reviews as needed. Thanks!

"Caring.com" is anything but. They censor their reviews to make horrible nursing home environments still look squeaky clean. I was told that my review was "hearsay" while my aunt is distressed in a home where she is miserable, all thanks to Caring, where their motto should be "We are Caring; only caring about your monetary referral fees & could care less about the comfort of your loved ones!"

DO NOT TRUST THIS WEBSITE, THEY ONLY POST WHAT THEY WANT TO FURTHER MIDDLE MAN PROFITS.

Sickening excuses of "humans".

We've run a high integrity reviews program for over a decade, and have publicly published tens of thousands of negative reviews of senior living communities, nursing homes, and home care agencies. The reviews we publish meet these guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines/ Ellie may contact reviews@caring.com for help submitting a review within guidelines that is her firsthand experience feedback (for services/experiences she has witnessed directly). For nursing home care, we also provide information about how to reach the long-term care ombudsman. There are no fees exchanged in the Caring reviews program; advertising and referral fees are not considered in processing reviews.

Overview

Caring.com has a rating of 1.9 stars from 92 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Caring.com most frequently mention assisted living and nursing home. Caring.com ranks 23rd among Senior Housing sites.
