Didn't post review
September 22, 2020

My mom lived at silvergate assisted living in fallbrook, ca. She got covid-19 from a staff member there and died because of it. We thought they were protecting her since we couldn't visit her for 5 months to keep residents safe from covid. But a stay member wasn't so careful and my mom died from getting covid-19. We couldn't even be with her in the hospital while she fought it for 2 1/2 weeks, and she died alone. Tried to put this review on caring.com, but they didn't post it.

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. They will call you every single day at least 20 times. I have asked several times and emailed customer service to be removed from their call list to no avail. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR NUMBER! They will harass you!

Hi Jennifer, Please email community@caring.com right away (include the phone number getting the phone calls). I will personally follow up to ensure that no further phone calls from Caring.com are made to you. We definitely honor all Do Not Call requests, so it sounds like perhaps there's been some sort of mix-up in this case, and I will certainly find out what happened and resolve any errors immediately. Thank you, Denise at Caring.com

The site would not post my negative and factual review of a facility my mother was in. Do not trust this site to get accurate information on facilities. Horrible website.

They only recommend places/people who are paying for them to. You can find 100x more info. Quite easily yourself doing google and other web searches. Then they CONSTANTLY HARASS you with phone calls trying to get your to use their services, to spite NUMEROUS requests to stop. DO NOT USE!

I have worked in the senior care field for over 10 years. Working with many Senior Living Communities of varying levels of care (and many independent) I have witnessed some wonderful and some that leave me horrified. I have left reviews on many sites, and keep my comments objective, encouraging families to research facilities, visit unannounced, and contact the governing state agencies to determine any violations, and whether those violations impact resident/patient care.
I have tried to leave reviews multiple times through Caring.com, mostly with positive reviews of facilities who deserve the recognition, as well as one facility that was a poor review. Each time I have written a review, I have refrained from naming staff, positions, or anything identifiable- rather referring to regulations and state codes, again, encouraging families to "dig deeper" as they research housing/assistance for their loved one. Each time I have been responded to with statement that my review was not being used as it did not meet their guidelines. What a shame- as I read the reviews that have been allowed it is clear that they pick and choose, with no consistency to their standards and guidelines. Shame on you Caring.com. You have made it about the money, and not about the caring.

Hi Gregory, Thanks for your feedback, and please do get in touch directly with Caring.com's reviews team to discuss further why your review(s) have been rejected: community@caring.com.

Generally speaking, reviews on Caring.com can be positive, negative, or in-between, and are published or rejected based on these Review Guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines

As you'll read in those guidelines: Ours is a consumer review platform that excludes reviews from current or former employees (and contractors, vendors, etc.) of the listed businesses. If your work in the senior care industry has included being paid by a senior living community or home care agency for your services (or earning referral fees from those businesses, or otherwise having a conflict of interest), then, yes, you'd be excluded from posting a review on the listing(s). The family caregivers and older adults who use our reviews to research senior living communities or in-home care agencies are most interested in hearing from folks just like them (who don't have a vested financial interest or possible conflict of interest in publishing a negative or positive review of the senior care business). We apply this policy consistently across all reviews we receive.

Also: it is free of charge to participate in the Caring.com reviews program -- for both the reviewers leaving feedback, and for the businesses being reviewed. It is very much a part of our social mission, and we do hope you'll get in touch directly with us again if any further explanation is needed about why your reviews were rejected (or if you need referral to other resources where you can publish or share your feedback about the senior care businesses you've worked with).

Hello Charlotte, Thank you for your feedback. Please contact community@caring.com so that we may help you remove your email and phone number from any further outreach. We typically reach out to consumers after they submit a request to be contacted, such as to learn more about a senior living community or home care agency in our directory, or when consumers participate in our online reviews program (we send status updates about their review submissions). We hope to hear from you directly so that we may address your concern.

Hi Kim, Thanks for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear about the experience you described regarding your friend. Unfortunately, you have an incorrect impression of our reviews program (in your allegation that we "don't post negative reviews"). Elder abuse is a criminal offense (as are other allegations you've made in the review you submitted against an assisted living business). To allege the assisted living business is engaged in criminal activity that hasn't yet been proven as fact on public record is against our guidelines for reviews, because such content is potentially defamatory or slanderous toward that business. You were given the option of submitting a new review that didn't contain potentially libelous or slanderous content. There are close to 25,000 negative (1-star and 2-star) reviews published on our website that met our guidelines. We hope you'll do two things: 1.) continue to follow up with the long-term care ombudsman and law enforcement about the serious criminal allegations you've made, and 2.) submit a review within our guidelines. Thanks! -Denise | Caring Reviews Team

I tried to contact a senior living facility online, but ended up getting a call back from caring.com. I did not want to work with them from the beginning, but they were very pushy. I was already working with a similar service to find a senior living facility. None of these services do anything more than what you can do yourself. It's pretty easy to just search the internet and find the same places they will tell you about. But be careful, sometimes you think you are contacting a facility directly, but you end up with caring.com or another service.

I started getting emails and phone calls from someone from caring.com to find out if I had found my mom a place and I kept reminding them I really didn't need their service since they weren't giving me any information I didn't already have.

My mom's situation changed and she ended up living with me. When caring.com called again for an update of my mom's living situation, I told them she was living with me. They called 2 more times and sent 2 emails, I gave them the same information again. Then about a month later, they texted me (really?) for an update.

Getting a text message was very annoying, especially when I have given them a status several other times. Don't bother with this service when they don't provide any useful information anyway.

Hi Janis, It sounds like you may have submitted an online inquiry on a page in Caring.com's senior care directory -- that's a common way that family caregivers get called back from Caring.com when trying to reach a senior living community they've read about online. There's a link on those website forms that explains we'll be calling when you submit your contact info, but unfortunately some folks miss that link and info. If you're still receiving any emails or phone calls from Caring.com that you'd like to unsubscribe from, please email community@caring.com for assistance (ask for Denise G.). Beyond our referral services: Caring.com has numerous expert articles on a range of senior care topics, online support groups, and a consumer reviews program. You can access those resources free of charge without getting text messages or calls from us about referral to a senior living community.

I put a review ton Caring. Com that mentioned that my mothers Jewelry and other valuables were stolen while she lived at the reviewed Assisted Living facility They sent me an email saying it was approved for posting and it was up on the site for at least a month. They it was taken down without notice. The other remaining reviews are older reviews than mine, some two years old. I think that they were told to take it down by the assisted living people and that the site answers to the industry. Therefore it is not a reliable source for the consumer.
I need to mention that I did not in anyway say in the review that the assisted living was to blame for the theft. I said that it happened there and if anyone has the same experience they will know there is a pattern. I said t was told the agencies had access to her things, such as her hospice care workers, and it would be difficult to tell who to blame. I mentioned that the facility director said they would get back to me about it but never did.

Please contact reviews@caring.com so that we may research which specific review you're referencing and provide accurate information about the removal. Or you can reply to the decline notice to reach our team. We use these public-facing review guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines/ Assisted living communities can contest reviews for fact error or suspected guidelines violations, but it is our team who makes the reviews processing decisions, and we're happy to further help you participate within guidelines.

Caring.com protects horrible nursing homes and will not print the honest reviews. The terrible nursing homes with bad reviews pay care.com to protect them from the public honesty of their experiences with nursing homes that are dangerous to their residents. Caring.com is unethical and offers protection to dangerous nursing homes. Marianne from Colorado. Caring.com needs to be shut down!
I kept track of the horrible incidents for over a year at the LFC of Colorado Springs regarding the neglect and lack of caring of my sweet friend. I supplied dates and times and only first names or initials of the people causing this abuse and submitted this to Caring.Com against the nursing home listed and not one word of my review was ever published. I tried 3 times to submit my information to Caring.Com and they finally would not even accept any of my reports with my email on them. Caring.Com protects horrible and dangerous nursing home reviews from being published publically. Please shut down Caring.Com! Thank You, Marianne from Colorado.

Hi Marianne, Caring.com will publish any negative reviews of nursing homes that meet these Review Guidelines: https://www.caring.com/about/review_guidelines
We are a neutral host of consumer reviews, and we don't endorse, protect, own, operate, or manage any of the skilled nursing facilities listed in our informational directory. Our reviews processors also do not consider the advertising status of a business listing when processing reviews for that listing. Instead, each review is judged on its own merits against the guidelines, and our team is available to answer any additional questions you have about why your submission(s) didn't meet the guidelines. Please contact community@caring.com. Thanks!

Caring.com filters negative reviews and calls them heresay. What's the difference between a negative review and a positive review? At the end both can be labeled heresay? However they are more inclined to post the positive than they are the negative. I posted my negative comment and it was very professional. It was also very true but they decided not to post it. Not only did I find out that facilities like the one I commented on pay them for referrals, but also reviews. I know people staying at that facility also writing negative comments and those also being withheld. Do not trust caring.com to make a decision about staying at a facility. The one my nana stays at have a violent people and they are free to hit caretakers and med techs. If the employees try blocking them, employees will be suspended and warned. Drugs are smoked on premises, violating state and federal laws, but the facility allows them too. Anyone going to the facility I wrote a negative review about will be subject to inhaling Drugs that are smoked outside the facility and inside the facility. Also,, no one is safe with violent residents.

Thank you Kacey for sharing your feedback — we hope you'll also take the actions we suggested for you earlier today: please submit a review within guidelines to reviews@caring.com, and please contact the State of Oregon long-term care ombudsman about the allegations you're making about an assisted living community there. Employees of the facility may also contact the long-term care ombudsman with their concerns.

Caring is not paid for reviews, and we apply the same public-facing review guidelines fairly to all reviews we receive, regardless of rating. We don't publish reviews from senior care professionals (or any other conflict of interest reviews). From consumers: we ask for firsthand experiences (rather than rumors or hearsay), and we decline potentially libelous content. If a consumer review is declined for having content outside the guidelines, that consumer is given the opportunity to re-submit.

Please contact community@caring.com at your earliest convenience so that we can get more information from you (such as the phone number you called in from - to enable us to revisit the call recording and address any concerns as needed). If you represent a senior living community and feel that you are being unfairly invoiced for a referral fee associated to a new resident at your community, do get in touch with our team right away to discuss: partnersuccess@Caring.com. We are only paid for referrals we make, so if you think we didn't make the referral, and/or you flagged the referral as a duplicate within the deadline, do get in touch so we can correct the billing. Brandon, Please contact community@caring.com so we can learn more about which service specifically you used and address any opportunities for improvement. Our senior living and senior care referral services are free of charge to consumers, and if we suggested communities or agencies that aren't matched to your need, it would help us to know how so (which referral) to avoid that going forward. If you're a business owner, such as a senior living community operator or home care agency owner, we do charge for advertising and referral services, and likewise want to know how we fell short (specifically) of your expectations. Your current review unfortunately doesn't provide us enough info to research and address the matter. We remain committed to excellence and do hope you'll get in touch to further elaborate on the specifics of your concerns.

It's a downright scam! My agency spent around $2k and were mislead every step of the way. Within our first trial month we did not receive one qualified referral, though they said we converted 2? We brought our evidence up to caring.com that included "referrals" that were past clients (MORE THAN A COUPLE) of ours who we had discharged due to non payment. Most "referrals" were Medicaid referrals who could not afford services. They tell you they "vet" those referrals before sending, but nearly 1/2 of ours were on Medicaid and or could only afford their advertised base service rate of $20/hour. They told us they would credit those leads. NEVER DID! We service Denver, Co. Minimum wage in 2019 is approaching $15/hour whether it's advertised or not. Genworth Financial does the math and research nation wide telling us typical services in Colorado as a whole are averaging $27/hour for private pay and nursing facility hourly rates.
After bringing up our findings to caring.com they first said they were going to credit our account $550 and was doing their own audit on leads they sent. After we sent in more evidence that their "referrals" were not vetted, they said we were converting clients (which is a complete lie) and became rude with us on email and said they were not going to credit any money and that we're basically out all money spent with caring.com!
Think I'll be ringing our Attorney General
