Not only does the website not tell you you're signing up to hire, not be hired, but you have to create 2 profiles AND pay a membership just to find work. Excuse me but I'm trying to make money not spend money, screw your corporation. Too expensive, too confusing, not designed well. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.
I have used Care.com about 3 times in the past. It still remains the same. The help that is decent are going to school, so will not work for you long. The ones that are incompetent are the ones that are available. They cancel at the last minute and numerous times. This last time, I thought maybe it would be different but it wasnt. Very unreliable. They dont do a real background check and want you to pay for it. It is worth it to do an agency that screens and trains, plus has backup help if the person cancels. Never again for Care.com.
I signed up with Care.com. I paid for a 3 month membership. The very next day I got a message that my membership was cancelled. They said that under their terms of service they have the right to cancel a membership for any reason or no reason at all. They wont tell me what issue they have. Now I am fighting for the 3 month membership premium to be refunded. Its not a big number, but what a scam. All I wanted to do was hire a housekeeper. Geez... stay away from this site..
Care.com won't allow you to publish your contact info -- have to go through their website and who has that time to do email, receive email without being able to speak to the person? Many caregivers never respond making me think that care.com leaves them on indefinitely. I have had limited success and can't say much good about them.
If anyone starts a class action suit, those of us who are participating in this site need to be informed.
I was shocked to discover that I was being charged $45 a month by Care.com. I didn't mind paying a small initial fee for access, but it wasn't clear that I would pay on a monthly basis. I felt tricked. Reputable companies don't trick you. There is no Customer Service phone number to talk with a person to resolve problems.
Just contacted customer service on care.com about a review I received from someone I never babysat for. I explained this to them and they said there was nothing they could do because the reviewer was a legitimate member. ARE YOU $#*!ING KIDDING ME?!
I am extremely frustrated with the poor customer service I received from the customer service department and the stupervisor immanuel. My concern was escalated to him and he did not handle nor resolve my concerns and request adequately.
The site is a scam and they expose sensitive personal information to other scam artist
They make it nearly impossible! I keep having to email them - NO phone number to contact! Hate this site!

You'll find better care givers on sitter city. They do not notify you that they are about to charge your credit card, figuring that you won't notice. I agree with other posters that the background checks are a joke. I am in the process of demanding a refund since they auto renewed on me this month. Even if you email in advance that you want to terminate, they will still renew on you. If you want a professional service, contact caregivers directly (for companies), or use sitter city for casual sitters.
Don't do it. Just don't. Whether you're a caregiver or seeking one.
They auto-renew people who have sent emails asking to cancel, and they flat out lie about background checks.
I found a nanny on care.com which I paid premium member rates and their "unlimited background" program. I requested 1 not 10,1 background criminal and mvr and downgraded my membership as I found a caregiver. It took significantly longer than told for results, finally received a notification that I have access and had no ability to view unless I submitted another request. I submitted multiple emails to be told by "Spencer" quoted "Unfortunately, since your account is now downgraded to our basic membership. You don't have the ability to view your previously requested background checks, you'll need to re-upgrade your account first before trying to view the results of your request." Are you KIDDING me!?!? I submitted a response vey upset (by the way my 4th email) and received a reply granting me 2 days of premium access so I can see the results... login go through every avenue and still unable to view RESULTS! So again sent a 5th email stating so and the time wasted to review backgrounds I paid for! Absolutely a nightmare and will ensure NO one posts a job on this site. Lucky for me I have no less then 8 families asking me where to find a nanny as my son goes to my gym with his nanny. Easy response NEVER pay care.com a DIME! Post on Facebook and let friends recommend through their network.: by the way for free!
I wish I had read this review before I pay the money! Terrible experience! What is the worst I just lost my money which I needed for different things just for nothing!
Please if you read this, you can see a lot of people are writing not a good thing about care.com. Don't end up like a lot of people in the bad situation with this care.com!
No real jobs are posted here, only fake jobs angling for you to pay to message for them. Yep, that's right, you are expected to pay both ways-the job searcher AND the employer must pay for each message sent! Don't waste your time. Definitely don't waste your money!
This site is a scam. They want you to pay to look for services on the site, which should let you know that its a racket. Try thumbtack or many of the other websites for the same thing and free!
At the cue from a peer, I posted a profile on Care.Com and paid for over a year for a premium membership. I am highly credentialed and qualified and applied to hundreds of positions that were applicable. I have received less than 2% legitimate responses in return. As a paying member, you are *SUPPOSED* to have applications go to the top of those received by the advertising client. HA! What I have received are MANY bogus job ads from scammers who's accts close immediately afterward.
I have had so many unresolved issues w/ Care.com that I really wonder if this is a legit company. Perhaps an investigation by States Attys General is in order?
#Classactionlawsuit
Very expensive, and feels scammy as prices are so high, if they had a slick opperation prices would be much lower.
If you are looking to hire an illegal alien then care.com can definitely hook you up. Their website is horrible, the use policy is from a foreign country and should be challenged in a court of law. Do not use this site.
This is the most worthless site ever. I was posting to hire someone for a job. Ended up using Craigslist and cancelling my subscription. The candidates they tried to refer to me in no way made sense. Terrible site!
Care.com has been nothing but a thorn in my side. I'm a college student and I was just looking for a way to make some extra money on the side. However, I was approached online by someone who needed a personal shopper, and she mailed me a check for over $3000 dollars. IT WAS ALL A SCAM. I knew that it was too good to be true. When I tried to reach out to Care.com, I waited over an hour to talk to customer service and they acted like they didn't know that scams were going on. When I called the company from whom the check was sent from, the lady I was talking to said it had been going on for years. You would think that a company as big as Care.com would maybe warn future employees of something that scandalous. Very disappointed that no one from Care thought to call me or apologize to me for everything that happened. Would not recommend it to anyone.
How many times do you have to cancel before they stop charging your card, going on 3 months and they charge tax on basic subscription, STAY AWAY there are better sites, read the reviews,
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
