Firstly of all, I had my account for over 3 years and never got a job. Then my account was randomly deleted out of no where a week ago. Made a new account because I have always really wanted this site to work and I get a notification that I have to upgrade to let the jobs I apply to respond back to me. I don't know what the point of the free app is then. And I would never pay how much they want you to pay to upgrade.
My account was terminated for no reason. Suddenly i tried to log in and it didnt let me, so i try resetting my password and it didnt allow me which was weird so when i checked my email i saw my account was terminated and i called and they dont want to let me know why it was terminated not only that everyone i was in contact with for a job received an email from care.com letting them know i was terminated, one of those person forward me the email and it is not how care.com says they let them know but instead make it sound like if you were a criminal or something bad you did when you technically don't know what is going on. I lost interviews because of that and is so unfair. Care.com should at least investigate what is going on before terminated anyone's account. I've been a member for probably 10 years and never had an issue until now.
We're sorry to hear this, Daniela. If you'd like us to review your account again, please email us at careteam@care.com or message us on Facebook or Twitter and we'd be happy to look into this for you!
I am mad because they calculated the interest on the whole year of the amount of purchased and not the balance owed. People, just a piece of advice since I work for a bank. You can do better in getting a personal loan or credit card at a bank with interest of 11%or better if you have a good credit score than throwing your money away and making them make their money off you.
This scammer went by the name of Sarah James and uses the email *******@gmail.com. Don't fall for their lies and don't accept their check. The check will bounce and your bank will have to investigate it because it's a fraud check. I fell for it and if you're reading this please don't fall for it either. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I went through. It's a sense of false hope, with the offering of a job. And then there's all that time wasted going back and forth in emails. Below I've provided pictures they sent to me of 'them'. It probably isn't them and they took it from the internet or their last victim.
We're sorry you've experienced this Maggie. I encourage you to check out this article from the Safety Center on the site:
I'm of the firm belief a large proportion of advertisements seeking care givers are false. I'm attuned to reading between the lines of false and/or misleading advertising & conclude the only thing care.com.au (care Australia) does well is exactly this. They post their own advertisements to mislead & boost membership.
The laws and regulations set down by the ACCC and our court's don't allow for the blatant & continuous manipulation of fact and the observance of reasonable commercial behaviour patterns plainly disregarded by care.com.au
I would urge everyone who has been stung by care.com.au to lodge a complaint with the ACCC. Nothing will change & they'll continue to practice until we, those who have been taken advantage of, complain.
Get mad & then get even.
In September I signed up for a birthday special. Just looked at my visa and the automatically took out $39.99 without my permission. I had signed up for the birthday special in the past and this didn't happen. I believe that this is fraud. Beware!
As stated in our Terms of Use and twice on the upgrade page when you had initially signed up, all of our subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled. This is a setting you can edit at any point after upgrading in your Account & Settings page by selecting the Downgrade option. We apologize if you misunderstood our billing policies, but do hope you were able to find the care you were looking for! Best wishes!
care.com has hidden terms and conditions and charged me for several months without noticing me. There is no way to ask for a refund or complain about their website, you simply lose your money. Be careful!
If I could give them zero stars, I would. They are absolutely terrible. Last time I got a subscription I didn't know I was supposed to cancel it so that they would stop billing me, my mistake. Well the second time around when I got a subscription I had made sure that my subscription was not on going through iTunes. Well then I got billed again after making sure I had no on going subscriptions. Turns out they now make you go deep into the app into your account to cancel subscriptions instead of iTunes holding the subscription information. Care.com will do anything to take your money and they will not give it back. They are snakes and I never write reviews about anyone but they have taken my money twice now. Don't be apart of their scams.
As an iOS mobile user, your Care.com subscription is billed and managed directly through your iTunes account. We unfortunately do not have the ability to downgrade accounts upgraded through the app. To downgrade your membership on your phone, go to > Settings > iTunes & App Store section > click on 'Apple ID: your email address' on top > click View ID > Subscriptions > Care.com > Cancel Subscription. For more information about managing your Care.com subscription via iTunes, please click; https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202039
There is no formal address listed on Google so you can't formally review them. No sitters or nannys have a background check done on the site. They tell you it's part of your "premium membership" but then they tell you to run your own background check because they do not. Worst scam involving the care of your children which makes this company even worse. They just take money and send any random person to your home and tell you they are part of their network. Keep you kids safe and stay away.
Do not waste your time, they are a total scam. They capture your credit card info and keep charging. I will be reporting them to any and all agencies
Terrible! None of the jobs I posted got any attention or sitters would set up a time to meet and I would be blown off over and over again. Then I finally hire someone and she fails a drugged test 6 weeks later after being in my home! I drugged tested bc I noticed things missing in my home. She ripped me off. Care.com should screen the sitters/nanny's better. It's very sad that anyone can post a job on here.
We're so sorry to hear about your experience with the caregivers on the site, Jennifer. Please email us at careteam@care.com or message us on Facebook and Twitter so our Safety team can take a further look.
I am writing this review to say that my first three years with Care.com were successful and I secured a great job with a family that I was employed with for three years. I had a wonderful profile and a great reference. My score was high and once the family I worked for relocated I searched for another job.
There are some difficult people out there to handle and as a care giver. I feel that Care.com does not support the caregiver in any way. I found a new client who was upset that she had to pay taxes as the IRS expects them to for any amount of money over 2100 dollars.
She complained to Care.com and the profile I spent so long building and had great references with was removed from their site. I paid for premium membership as well.
There is absolutely zero backing for the caregiver and I feel they are a company at this point whom would take care of these problems (reviews that are not solid and such).
If you pay your taxes as you should- be careful because Care.com does not care if employers pay taxes and will remove you if you have an opinion about it.
Terrible. They bank and have only 564 employees and just take money without any explanation as to why they remove or desire to discontinue your membership... after taking your money.
I am disgusted with the way they handle their business.
I give them zero stars
This site started re-billing me 2 months after my subscription ended, I didn't notice until 9 months later. I have called several times in the past month, told by KYCE (in the Phillipines), that I cannot speak to a manager, she is sorry but she cannot do anything etc... I will now have to take this to my bank because no one from this service will provide any customer service.
I'm very upset! There isn't a phone # for "customers". I have a REAL safety concern regarding a post by a very unstable, dangerous family. The daughter posted ad, I worked one day & I called elder abuse also did not get paid, it was THAT bad. Families review caregivers but CAREGIVERS NEED TO PROTECT EACH OTHER, MOSTLY YOUNG WOMEN AND REVIEW FAMILIES! I emailed and got vague response. Outrageous! If anyone sees a post from Avon- by -the Sea for 90 yr old male with dementia DO NOT RESPOND! Care.com cares about Care. Cash! The Worse! I encourage people to report to BBB.
We're sorry you're upset, Catherine. Please email us at careteam@care.com so we could look into this for you. You can also reach us on Facebook or Twitter!
Went through the long process of making an account to register as an individual babysitter, but since I'm only 17 I needed my mom to make an account as well. She was asked a bunch of unrelated questions, some including old addresses (which I NEVER put in, so I have no clue how they got that information) then was given an error message. I was scrolling through jobs at this time, so when she told me that I tried to look at my account settings, but was given an error message and told to try again later. Tried the main page as well, but only the "community" page was working. A few hours later, I tried to log in again. Only to find that my account was deleted. I registered my email, facebook, and number, but somehow all of this was wiped from record. I'm just glad I didn't give them any money.
Those looking to register: Don't waste your time.
Care.com is a scam! My company signed up and not ONE applicant ever responded to our job posting. Additionally, we have been trying to cancel for almost 2 months and we can't get anyone on the phone and the payments continue to come out of our banking account. We plan to move forward with further actions against this company. Please do not sign up, this is a fraud!
I apologize for your frustrations, Rusan. Please email us at careteam@care.com or message us on Facebook or Twitter and one of our member care representative can help you cancel your Premium membership. Hope to hear from you soon!
I subscribed to Care.com for 3 months, in those 3 months I was not able to get anyone to respond to my request. It seems they let just anyone sign up as a caregiver just for the money. I was never able to hire anyone based on no response from the providers. After my 3 months, they automatically renewed my subscription without my knowledge and when I called them to let them know I had not authorized the renewal that response was that they automated renew and they have a restrictive no refund policy.
Hi Maritza. Our refund guidelines is, we're able to refund the last charge within the past 30 days as long as there is no Premium usage on your account after the first renewal. Please email us at careteam@care.com or message us on Facebook or Twitter and we'll be happy to review your account and refund eligibility. Hope to hear from you soon!
Care.com enforce you to pay money only to send messages to caregivers. I paid $62.40 for a 3-month-subscription. I contacted 33 persons. Only one replied saying she's not available. Even after more than 10 days, non of the other 32 responded. The refund policy on their website states that I can get a refund if no one responds in 3 days & if I contact them within 30 days of initial subscription. Which is what I did. Of course they tried to get out of it, giving excuses one after the other. I held my ground, unfortunately, because I didn't want to waste more time with them, I agreed with 50% refund.
I cancelled my subscription. I will never use this scamming website again. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND Care.com.
If I could only leave negative stars. One vindictive and mentally ill daughter of a client with an exceptionally dysfunctional family who has made it her sole purpose in life to try to do as much damage to my business as possible posted fake reviews on my homecare company and despite the fact that I was a paying customer of care.com, they have no process in place to hear a dispute about a damaging and provably false review. All it would take would be for the reviewer to provide a cancelled check or invoice from me to prove that they did business with me but since the whole thing was a lie and there was absolutely nothing other than fantastic service provided, she would not post under her name due to very dysfunctional family dynamics. She would not want her sister to know she did it because she was already in trouble with the family, the dynamics difficult enough to cause us to ask them to find another agency. 'Bad' sister wanted to steal my aides and I prevented her doing so, so in retaliation she really has gone above and beyond with her vindictiveness. Care.com will allow people to damage your business with not procedure in place to handle disputes or to dispute that reviewers were actually your customers.
You have to pay to us care.com and it's stupid! There's no trial run and they don't refund you! I accidentally got a year long subscription, I thought they were only going to charge me per month, I immediately downgraded my account and contacted a representative who was no help! She tried to accuse me of not purchasing anything even tho my bank account said different. I had to email them to get help and it's a different person Everytime where they refused to give me my money back even tho it had only been a couple days! And I hadn't even hired someone from the site. They said I could downgrade but still charged me and they over charged me! And now it'll be over a week before I see my money! I will not recommend this company I shouldn't have to pay per month to use it! I already can't afford a sitter I don't need them taking my money. 55 bucks could of been used for someone to watch my kid now I just lost money.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
Hi Keelin! We only require one party be a paying member in order to communicate on the site, this means families with Premium membership are able to reply to your applications if they wish to, even with your free account. Please note that families who are actively looking to hire end up upgrading their accounts to Premium so definitely keep applying for better chance of getting hired!
