The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

I work as basically a travel agent for my organisation. Booking.com is the worst service. If anything goes wrong with the reservation or if you just need a receipt at the time your card is charged (like for an accounts team) well that's just tough luck for you. You will never get a real person on the phone, I'm pretty sure the whole site is run by an evil computer. Also, they take a ridiculous percentage for their crap service and treat the hotels just as poorly as they treat the clients (I know this from working/managing at a hotel). All this would be fine if you could 100% avoid this monstrosity of a automated middle-man but they are also a catfish! Some sites have no blatant indication that you are actually booking through booking.com, its only until the confirmation page do you realise you've been duped. More like BOOing.com. Boooooo! Thumbs down. I hope this site dies.
I bought for the first time airline tickets from booking.com web site. What a mistake. Since then, the airline company cancel one of my flight. I have tried several times to speak to someone of booking.com in my own language; impossible. I asked to be rebook on another flight 5 days ago; since then no answer from booking.com and very difficult to speak to someone very efficient In that company. This company is on my blacklist for lifetime + 25 years.
I booked accommodation (Apartamento Las Palmeras Front sea View) with booking.com, however when I arrived there, the accommodation did not exist, the property owner was not picking up the phone nor replying to my emails from. Apartamento Las Palmeras Front sea View is a scam, do not book with them! Booking.com did not make any refunds or make any effort to help. They just keep them robbing people. This was a very stressful experience. The customer service is super poor. Would never use again.
Firstly, I would love to leave a review on Google, apparently that is not an option for these roaches. To cut a long story short, I am due a refund. I spoke to two agents. I followed the first one's instructions to a tee. He even had the audacity to tell me to "hurry up" as I was pulling up my confirmation number for him. I got my ticket statuses changed appropriately to canceled and sorted out my flight for the next day directly at the airport. I then called back once at my Motel for the evening, the second agent I spoke with stated my tickets needed to be in an "open" status to work on a refund. He said to call the airline "Icelandair" to have this done and then to call back. Needless to say, when I called Icelandair, the representative informed that is not how refunds work from booking agencies and that Booking.com should be reaching out to Icelandair to get the process going. I have seen this "run around" before from other companies. I cut the middleman out and called my credit card company to open a dispute.
TL; DR - Go to your banking institution to get your money back. Don't use Booking.com. Record your calls with them. They are crooks.
I needed to go outta town for a Dr apt. I searched the city I needed to go. I've stayed many times at this particular hotel so I wanted to book there again. I searched Marysville, Wa my husband and I arrived at about 10:30 pm to find out we did not have a reservation. I looked at my reservation receipt and it said Marysville, Ohio. What the hell? I didn't even know there was a Marysville, Ohio! So it's 10:30 at night. 5 hours from home
No more money for a hotel and my reservation that we had all ready paid for was in Marysville, Ohio.
I immediately called booking.com
But they ask for the confirmation number which I have and a 4 digit pin. I looked and looked I never got a pin. So days pass I'm trying to contact booking.com no luck. They are very difficult to get through. Long story short. They refuse to give me my refund. They hung up on me when I asked to speak to a manager. I will NEVER USE BOOKING. COM AGAIN. Take some advice. Don't use booking. Com unless you have money to burn on vacations you don't even go to..
Do not use booking. Com taxi service it is a scam they don't turn up they don't refund your money the did not check our flight details etc but said he did his only evidence was off his laptop
This site (Booking.com) is a legal and official web scammers. They overrate their partners (hotels and car rental companies) to catch customers with high rated services at low cost compared to other honest webservice provider. I booked a hotel and a car for my trip through Booking.com. First, they withdraw more than what was agreed on from my bank account. When I got to destination, the rental company refused to honor the car rental, and Booking.com withheld the total amount of my rental even though it was their partner who refused to complete the rental. There is no customer service to help you when you end up in such situation, and you keep sending them email, to which they keep replying with the same message under different customer service agent name. The hotel was a mess, yet it was high rated. You do not realize the scam until you reach your destination, and the money has been deducted out of you account, for which you can do nothing.
Booking.com was resposible for us loosing R6000+ because the resort was nothing as advertised. Also this resort, Umhlanga Cabanas does not accommodate customers as it dies not give any money back if booking is cancelled within 30 days of your stay... in a PANDEMIC!, and Booking.com is of no help but are actually the cause of the problem because of their misleading web info regarding the resorts... look at the bad reviews Umhlanga Cabanas got but it is still an option on Booking.com... we are very unhappy about loosing all our money and will discourage all to not ever use Booking.com or Umhlanga Cabanas
Horrible company, I rent a car, but wasn't able to get the car, I called costumer service many times they never pick up the phone, I emailed them multiple times they never answered. Company exist when you purchase they charge you in a second but if they have to refund you or you have a problem, the cpany doesn't exist. It's totally scam.
With a week to go booking.com and Manhattan New York city kept the $500 I paid citing the "policy". This is terrible customer service and I'll never use them again.
I made it to the hotel Ramada Inn by airport and the reservation was not done. After driving 10 hours, I needed to wait over an hour to reach someone at customer service, then it took another 25 minutes for that person to reach out to the hotel and make the reservation. Alejandro at the Front desk show me when they made the reservation and then confirmation number came up, for him to give me the key. With all the others sites available, I advise everyone to stay far from booking. Com.
I bought a return flight Amsterdam- Ho Chi Minh via Booking.com.
Part of my return flight was cancelled 10 day before the departure to Vietnam…
The alternative offered was with 3 days stop in Bangkok. But due to visa / covid restrictions I would have had to stay 3 days in quarantine hotel. So really not an option for me.
I called booking CS to solve this issue. Booking.com CS seemed to be in India. Very difficult to understand and pretty bossy.
They mentioned that either I should take the alternative or cancel the flight. And buy something else (10 days before departure time…!)
As they mention that they was no other option I told them to cancel.
After that I called directly Swiss air, the company that cancelled part of my return flight. The person on the phone was very helpful and found another plane the same day (so no 3 day stop in Bangkok). They told me to call back booking and explain them. I did it but booking told me that it was too late because I told them to cancel my flight 20min earlier… I tried to explain that I decided to cancel because I was told that they was no other options, which was not true information. But they did not want to hear anything. So I had to accept it and I bought another return flight via another website (which cost me 300€ more because i was the. Buying my flight last minute!).
Short after I received an email telling me that the company (Swiss air) a had refunded Booking and that I should receive the money on my account "in few days". It was a month ago and I still haven't received nothing!
Really terrible experience.
I was told I needed to cancel the day of my check in due to the fact that I wasn't 25 years old. I wasn't given a full refund and the customer service backing up their decision was rude and avoided answering my specific questions regarding cancellation penalties. Personally I don't recommend booking with this company because they weren't considerate and fair with my cancellation.
This company is awful. I went through them to get a hotel. I was not familiar with the location. Once I got to the hotel it was not fit for a animal to stay in, yet alone and adult. I attempted to go to cancel and informed them this was not advertised. They gave me booking.com number to call to cancel and to get a refund. So I attempted the call the lady was typing to help me cancel and to received a refund but I did not have my laptop. So I informed her I would call back when I got to my computer-it was documented. I call back once I got home a few days later. A new rep tells me no refund per policy. I was like could I get a credit and they told me no. I ask to speak to a supervisor and she was really nasty and refused to help. Please do not waste your time or your money. They will let you book just to receive money this company do not care about the customers.
I booked a rental car through the website. My flight to MIA was delayed and I landed a little after midnight. When I arrived to the rental car co they were closed. I had to pay over double for a rental car co that was open. I attempted to call them and the wait times were ridiculous (the following day). I was not going to spend my vacation trying to deal with it, so when I got home I called. They said I needed to email, which I did. I didn't hear anything back so I contacted my financial institute and disputed the charges. Booking.com responded to my CC and said I am not eligible for a refund. I am upset I didn't read these reviews before choosing them! DO NOT USE THIS CO THEY ARE A SCAM!
Friendly staff & excellent breakfast & evening meal menu.
This hotel. Was built in 1880 & is centrally located, so you can walk to Fitzpark; the river walk & the centre of Keswick in a few minutes. The hotel is quirky, very clean and bright, but has no lift. Small car park, only for 5 cars, so first come, first served but a bus stop very nearby.
I booked an hotel in March and had an issue. They canceled my payment as they gave me the room for the night. The payment was made weeks in advanced through booking. Needless to say, booking has not released my funds, even though they have spoken with several managers from the facility approving the refund. It is now 3 months later. Still no refund and they keep saying they have to speak with someone from the hotel. Even though they have received an email from the general manager. Run far away because I'm they keep your money if you get refunded.
Booked airfare on the site. Purchased the insurance which stated I could change or cancel my flight if necessary. A military graduation was rescheduled and we are going to drive rather than fly. Called 4 times to cancel the flight. Twice, the call was picked up and no one was there. Twice an "agent" anwered and told me someone would call me within the hour to discuss the cancelation. I've been waiting 4 hours since the first call and an hour since the second call. No one calls back. Was told insurance is only good if the airline makes the change or cancels my flight. "Agents" speak extremely broken English, refuse to transfer to a supervisor, refuse to provide the contact information required to contact the "insurance" company. Horrendous service. From now on, I will use to find suitable hotels, flights, etc and book directly with the provider. WOW did I learn my lesson. NEVER AGAIN!
When double billed, they and the property just pass the buck. Their slow, shifting responses are not trust worthy. Major rip-off on exchange rates. They offer to answer your questions and then ignore your questions and re-offer to answer your questions. There has got to be an alternative to these cons and their sister companies.
I've been asking for someone to contact me and no contact has been made. This has been 10months on going, calling there NZ contact number and they hang up after saying "I will transfer you" or just end call whilst in the process of waiting for someone to answer. I've given up on Booking.com!
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
