The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to inadequate customer service and a lack of accountability. Many reviews highlight issues such as harsh refund policies, unresponsive support, and problems with fraudulent listings, leading to frustrations over lost funds and unresolved complaints. While some customers appreciate the variety of accommodations offered, the overwhelming sentiment indicates a lack of trust in the company's commitment to customer satisfaction. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance its customer service responsiveness and take greater responsibility for the listings it promotes.

Greedy!
I am a host on booking.com for a few years already and want to say, that I am not happy at all how they dealing with our money. The money comes into our account after 15 - 45 days after the guests stay. Thats too long. What do they do with our money? In this time you can turn it 3 times and make a nice profit. Or just keep it in your bank account and get interest on it. But that is not enough! They decided they are going to charge us extra 1.3% on the top for the money transfer! AirBnB does money transfers in 1 (ONE) day. Without any extra charges. I have 4 apartaments, but only 1 is on Booking.com, the rest is on AirBnB. AirBnB is the best!
Don't know why people poorly rate this service, I truly think it's the best in the industry and have never experienced a single bad emotion while using them. Booked lots of different accomodations through booking.com around the world and they always meet my expectations
We booked the Hostel Via Lamoda in Prague one months before our Trip from Berlin. But when we reached to the Hotel address there was no hotel there. It was a residential building. We asked the owner of the building and she said here there is no Hostel and also other people came before and searching for this Hostel. So it was a fraud. We called the property number but it was off. We reported to the police about this fraud. Unfortunately, Booking.com staff did not help us when we called, she did not book another hotel for us and just sent us a link so that we have to book it but when I opened the link the hotel was booked out and nothing was available. So I called them again but no one answered the phone. We couldn't find any other available accommodation because they were all booked out or the prices were over 500 euro per night. So we did not have any option but to go back to Berlin by bus. Booking.com destroyed our vacation and when I called them back for the compensation of our tickets at least but they replied irresponsibly that we can not pay you back anything! The worst customer service experience! I never use this website again.
They mix hotels in Palermo Sicily and Palermo, Buenos Aires in the same search. We ended up booking a hotel in Buenos Aires by accident because the address on their profile was wrong and said United Kingdom instead of Argentina so was unclear. We ring the hotel and they agree to give us a refund if booking allows it so we ring booking only for the hotel to change their mind and then ignore all our calls, wasting our time. The hotel then changes the address on their profile to hide their mistake. We write a review and upload the screenshot of the incorrect address and booking tells us our review has been declined as this experience is "not related to how comfortable the hotel is and therefore not relevant". I call to complain that the review is censured and they keep repeating that the review is not related to the hotel.
We booked a hotel stay for spring break 2 months in advance. A week before our stay, we attempted to look up our reservations to see about check in times and found nothing. We booked our stay while logged in on our account yet the link from the original confirmation email led to nowhere, our bookings from our logged in profile showed nothing, so we contacted the hotel and they claimed they had no record of me nor my reservation. We went back on booking.com and booked a different stay, calling the new hotel, which was $150 more than the original, for confirmation. After our first night at the new hotel, I get hit with a "no-show" fee from the original hotel that *suddenly* had my information. When I called to ask what was going on, they said we needed to dispute it with booking.com. When I spoke to them, they stated they understood what had occurred and would speak to the hotel to refund the fee. We received a call two days later from booking.com stating the hotel would not refund me my money. When I mentioned how they admitted responsibility they then deflected and gave us the runaround claiming the reservation didn't show up because I wasn't logged in when I booked it. I stated I did and contacted the hotel and they claimed they had no record, they stated we should have checked with them. I told Andrew, the very rude customer service representative at booking, that I did check and nothing was listed, he kept claiming I wasn't logged in. I had to repeatedly tell him I was logged in and should be credited the nearly $70 no show fee since it was they who lost my reservation. Her raised his voice, said "I already told you we aren't refunding anything and I'm done with this matter", and hung up on me.
Andrew specifically is the reason we will never book through them, again. His awful attitude, tone, and disrespect is unforgivable.
We booked a small flat. The bed was already broken, we contacted the owner to discuss this matter. He blamed us for the damage and became angry. He then put the phone down on us. Booking.com sent us several emails and the last one we received, stated we had to make an immediate paiement of $2 664.79 for the bed (dollar even though this happened in France). And a bed broken by someone else! Are they having a laugh! We feel harassed! We have been using this service for years and never encountered such issues followed by an unrealistic claim!
I had a bad experience. Once I've booked a room in a hotel which I could pay for at the property. A week later I received a mail with the information that my booking was cancelled. I was shocked! After opening my booking account I found a message from that hotel with a request to transfer money to their account. I didn't even see that message and didn't get any notifications by mail. As I didn't do that they cancelled my booking.
With my wife going to Tunisia I have advised her to use my referral code to make the reservation. After her trip we were waiting for the referral bonus but it never arrived. After calling booking.com customer services they have mentioned that we would not get the reward because my wife used my laptop to make the reservation and that their system blocked both of our cards.
My partner managed to stay one night at this hotel out of the five I had booked, but couldn't stay any longer.
There are prostitutes working at this hotel, and overnight she heard many clients coming and going from adjacent rooms, the activities they got upto in those rooms, as well as cars sounding their horns to be let in, to avail themselves of the local services.
The management must be aware of these goings on, however, they were not willing to refund the money paid for the total stay. So, my partner had to leave the property to find an alternative hotel.
Unfortunately she had an unrefundable booking, and Booking.com didn't refund either, even though the hotel was so bad, was even asked if my partner could take photographic evidence of the guys coming and going! Not very safe.
This site is a scam! BUYER BEWARE! I am at my reservation I booked for my family that was supposed to have breakfast included at Champions World Resort Hotel. I took screenshots as I went through the purchase process and even of my email. I arrive to find out my payment was almost $50 less which is nice but breakfast was not included. Even though I provided this proof and took the pictures all on the same day as my email they refuse to uphold it and said it's MY HUMAN ERROR! I ordered online have screenshots and proof and they screwed us. Now my kid will not be eating thanks to booking forget me and my husband I just care about my son! An expense we didn't plan for 5 nights in Florida! This had also happened to me last year when I used them for my one night trip to NYC with my husband and we booked a hotel and it said free breakfast and we get there and again it was a lie! Do not ever fall for the free breakfast, it is just a lie to suck you in to purchase and then when you arrive they screw you over! I cannot believe the lack of customer service. Then to be told my email wrong and my pictures are wrong even though they are from the same day and time! I'm beyond done with Booking.com you can get great rates other ways than using them. At least using hotel sites I never have had this issue before, hotels uphold these things where booking is looking to lure you and make sure they act like it's your own fault. Read others reviews on this as I see now I'm far from the first or last person they will ruin a vacation for!
Rented a car through Booking.com and the time was incorrect. The agreement stated 12AM which I thought covered if my flight arrived late and they cancelled my reservation at EASIRENT and when contacted they hung up on me and said I was going to be charged anyway. The car rental company stated they needed to charge me $150.00 dollars more and I had no choice! The car was disgustingly dirty and then when I drove away the "MAINTENCE REQUIRED" light came on and when I called I would have to return the car to original site in Orlando!
COMPLETE RIP-OFF DO NOT USE BOOKING.COM OR EASIRENT CAR RENTAL IN ORLANDO.
Booking.com sent us a letter that we could get $70.00 off our next stay.
So we booked a weekend stay that qualified to receive the discount.
Unfortunately we made a small mistake with our booking so we had to cancel the reservation and submit a new reservation. Since we cancelled the 1st reservation, the coupon code for the $70.00 was no longer valid.
I called Booking to complain, and was told they are sorry, but there is nothing they could do about it. There was no possible way they could issue me a new code.
I understand this was a simple mistake we made, but come on. They cannot issue a new code? I don't buy it. Poor Poor customer service.
The first time you have trouble with a hotel and you get in touch with Booking.com you'll see why they have so many bad reviews. They really are a scam site. If you decide to use them & have a problem don't be shocked when the bottom falls out. They really don't care about the customer, just the bottom line.
Awful the worst! 3rd country customer service can hardly speak English, they don't care once reservation is booked if there are problems, the only concern is getting paid. Federal Trade Commission needs to open several cases based on complaints and false advertisement.
Last December I used booking.com to book a hotel in Chicago but then I cancelled out of reasons, a week later i got charged 181 dollars, when i tried to contact the site by e mail i couldnt reach them and was not able to get a clear answer, they said they didnt charge me. Now when I booked hotels in LA and Chicago they charged me and took 500 dollars from my account 3 weeks before even the check in i had reserved. I live in Asia and is unable to call them, I still havent gotten an e mail back, this is outrageous and a straight up scam, 700 dollars is a lot of money, i dont want to lose it this way, if someone has similiar experiences and know how to solve it please help
This company is a disappointment
I have been using booking exclusively up till now to book my stay
Whenever I travel, but I think after the recent incidents, I will switch
To another company. They don't care about complaints or customer requests.
First, for the booking in Amsterdam, that hotel charged me a higher rate
When I booked 2 months in advance compared to the latest rate they
Posted on their site. I asked them about the rate discrepancy, twice,
No answer.
I asked if I could cancel my booking without incurring the fee, they
Sent back an email in ALL CAPS saying "NO IT IS NOT POSSIBLE".
Then, I didn't travel there and didn't stay. I don't know how they did
It but the hostel managed to charge my debit card even when my card has
A balance lower than the amount they charge (this is a debit, not credit
Card), leaving my bank account in a huge red negative balance. Is this
Even legal? They cancelled the booking and didn't leave me a chance to
Leave any review.
On another booking, I booked a hostel in Santiago de Compostela. That
Hostel didn't require to pay in advance. I thought that's nice. I sent a
Message together with my booking informing them I would arrive about 1
Hour later than their normal reception hour, asking them to remain open
To let me check in. NO reply. I thought silence means ok, and because it
Was one day before my trip, I didn't have time to check with another
Hostel. When I arrived, they closed the hostel entirely. They listed an
Emergency number for people to call. I called that number more than 10
Times. No one picked up. And till today, they haven't called back or
Messaged me back either. I had to spend the night in the street in the
Cold, because most hotels in this city close very early. Then I had to
Book for the next day because midnight already passed. Then I dragged my
Luggage to another hostel and had to sleep outside the door till someone
Working there came back at 4am and let me in to sleep on a sofa!
I wrote a bad review about that hostel (sorry, nothing was positive
Here), and guess what? Their review team sent the review back asking me
To edit it? What did I say that was wrong?
I used booking.com, they overcharged me and did not refund my money! I would rate them zero 0, but it's not listed.
Booked a family room at resort for 2 people, but the room was good for 5. Later our adult kids decided to join us, and the resort assured us that there would be no extra charge for the room, only for meals (if kids decide to eat at their restaurant). Kids ate outside, so we were sure that there will be no extra charge at all. Yet, the receipt had extra $182, which is more than 50% extra! The resort administrator said that this extra was coming from Booking.com.
I contacted Booking.com CS, went through several rounds of emails with them, sent them all requested copies - only to get response "it's not us, talk to hotel" at the end! Crooks.
I travel regularly (mostly outside the US) and for accommodation, I use this site nearly exclusively, especially since they now list private apartments as well as hotels. I've not had a bad experience, I get quite good discounts, and recently when I had two consecutive bad experiences, one with a hotel and one with an apartment, they refunded one fully and the other partially (which I hadn't really expected). I'm sorry to see that others' experience hasn't been like mine, but for me it has been a really good service.
I booked a resort in Antalya last August 2018, the booking was made on March, and it was with free cancellation, 3 days after my booking my card was charged for 700$ ( the total amount was for 1050$) in the same day I have called booking.com for this matter they told me not to worry, this is just a deposit for confirmation and it will be deducted at the hotel check in or refunded if booking is cancelled.
When I reached the hotel at check in they informed me that there was no room deposit and they have to charge the total amount for 1050$, they told me that your money will be refunded by booking.com.
And since then I was contacting booking.com to help me to get back my money, but still they didn't refund me the money, knowing that i have contacted them several time by phone and more than 20 e-mails.
I was a member with booking.com since about 10 years with a Genius member.
Earlier this month I have deleted my account with them and i decided to help others for not to be a victim of booking.com.
Do never use booking.com they are cheaters!
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
