Customer Service NOT
October 8, 2020

A simple chat online to explain pricing that was not going through at check out. Spoke to Nicholas R. Who was not inclined to help or explain what was clearly misrepresented on the item. Stated 50% off but at check out it was 10% off... He pretty much told me to look closer at terms and conditions and as I was typing my next question, he ended the chat! Banana Republic has been slipping in quality a lot in the past few years and their customer service was never top notch, but this was awful. While I love their jewelry, I am done with any of their product.

I recently ordered some dress shirts for my nephew who lives in Saratoga Springs, NY. I realized immediately when the order confirmed that it was showing my home address as the shipping destination. I called right away to change the address and I was told it was impossible to do that. When I asked if I could cancel the order, they said NO that would not be possible. What kind of company does that? I've ordered from them for years but that's not happening any more. I'll continue to write these reviews in the hope others won't have this problem. Not a good idea to order from them if you looking for good customer service.

A shell of a company that is dying
June 7, 2023

I grew up going to the GAP. As an adult I grew into BR and Old Navy is a solid stand by. But not only has their clothing quality cratered with the business model of seeing their clothes as disposable after a few years. They are not made well enough to last longer. So you buy more! But their customer is a joke. I ordered an item weeks ago and have literally spent hours trying to figure out what happened and where it is. The chat function is useless. Serviced by untrained children probably in horrid conditions in sont far away country. The folks on the phone are no better. Seriously I've spoken to SEVEN different people in FOUR departments. After everything even a simple refund once it was clear this was never going to happen takes 5-8 business for them to complete and another 30 days before I have the money they took from me. Ridiculous. I'm not a kid anymore and don't need kids clothes that I'll have to throw away in a few years. Jcrew, COS, Brooks Brothers. They have earned my loyalty. The GAP brands are done. Bankruptcy would be too good for them.

Deteriorating brand
April 19, 2023

This brand used to represent luxury, beauty and function in design, and aspirational fashion but sadly it has deteriorated over time specially after Marka Hansen stepped down. Its designs lack inspiration, freshness and edginess and the brand lacks direction and clarity in vision. I don't understand their aesthetics. Their sizing is off, too. Gone are the modern and beautiful designs, replaced by boring and tacky ones.

I'm 6'5" and look for nice T-shirts that are tall and extra large. BR t-shirts seemed to fit the bill. However, their Luxe Touch Performance t-shirts shrank after one wash and the collars are wrinkled. I do not recommend buying these shirts. I do like their Premium Wash shirts as they seem to hold up fine after washing.

Some person in Mexico started a chain called Banana Republica with bootleg copies of all their producs.

When it started it was a daring and innovative store selling everything Indiana Jones might need on his next adventure.
The stores had jeeps sticking halfway out of the window and elephant tusks and terrific safari jackets.
Not everyone who buys this stuff intends to go on safari, just look like you just came back.

Then the GAP bought it and removed all the things that made it interesting and raised the prices.

I have 3 safari jackets from the old Banana Republic (all good value and quality) and a $110 belt from the new Banana Republic.

The design and quality of the old safari jacket was unique to them.
A $110 belt is not.

So done!
July 27, 2023

In 2019-21 I purchased a lot from BR. I bought a new wardrobe. If I liked the item I purchased several in all the colors mostly on sale, I also returned probably half of what I ordered because of poor quality control or wrong sizing. I also have a pile to sell on the online market sites. So for a year I didn't buy anything. Last year I bought expensive jumpsuits on final sale suitable for garden work and some ill fitting tops and sweaters that went back. And two pairs of jeans that are enormous that I'm stuck with. Recently I saw my favorite pants on sale. They were $60 still but considerably marked down and not final sale. I ordered 5 pairs, one in each color l, knowing that they weren't all going to fit. Two were too small and too short! I kept three. One pair seemed to pucker a little on one leg but I told myself they were just a little tight and would stretch. So I put them on this morning and one leg seemed a little tight. I took them off and carefully tried to determine if they were in fact cut wrong. I'm in a hurry to go, pants seem fine, just being silly. Put them on cut the tags off and go. I get in the car and sit down and sure enough the right pant leg feels tighter and was cut wrong. You can see it when I'm sitting. When I get home I'm taking them off and sending them back. This is the Banana Republic reality as I know it today. By the way, this will be the first article of clothing that I will return after wearing. I have to note that I have received many pieces of on sale clothing from them that reeked of perfume and had obviously been worn and even shaved. Customer service didn't care when I complained. I should also say something about the prices as others have mentioned. They seem to have doubled. Sales aren't as good and there are too many expensive final sale items. I have had enough and this is my last purchase.

Its about the lady on checkout register when i went to (banana republic) toronto premium outlet. I had with me my brothers employee discount card and i was willing to use it but then when they told me they can't do it unless the person who owns it is with us. I immediately get that and said no problem i still even purchase what i got. After shortly i came back with my brother as he was around there in outlets and requested if they can refund so that we can use discount card,, she was so rude and unnecessarily was giving lecture and how i can't pay and blah blah when i used the same card many times and she could have told us politely, she was giving so negative vibes,, just because of that lady i am not going to banana republic ever! So disgusted with that $#*!.

Deceptive advertising, terrible customer service
November 21, 2022

Banana Republic posted an ad on Instagram with an androgynous person in a smiling pose, a blue puffer jacket. I ordered it because I thought the woman looked friendly and I liked the color. I chose a large. I received a man's puffer jacket for a huge man, should have been XXL, and when I tried to return it, I was told it was non-exchangeable, no flexibility. This is pathetic. All stores that sell online tell you what gender you are ordering so you can determine size accurately. I think Banana Republic is dishonest and untrustworthy.

Be careful, the return policy is awful
January 9, 2023

They have a sizing guide so when you buy you think you are getting the right size.

Then when it comes, it doesn't fit.

And guess what, they don't let you return or exchange it!

I just wasted over $200 on my order. Will never order again from them.

I didn't know, banana republic has so lengthy time period for returning of goods and items, it is already more than 1 month, and I had to call more than 3 times to know about the update. And while checking update I can see the package is still in transit not even delivered. Are you kidding me, in one month? Looks like, they only want to push back my reimbursement. Beside that I am finding most of their product that are sale like 50 percent discount, the products are quality less and not reasonable the amount I paid. So, I would like to give only one * to this company.

It's with reluctance that I write this because I bought at least half of my wardrobe at BR for over three decades. However, in the past few years, it's gone from a 10 to a 2. The materials are cheap, the clothing isn't sized in any cogent way and the Customer Service has declined significantly. Don't even think about doing online ordering. It's a nightmare.
Their Customer Service is just silly. They also ask far too many personal questions before you can even speak with someone. (There are also 5 personal questions to change your password; I gave up). If they paid as much attention to the quality of their clothing and their customer service as they did to the security of my account, I'd still be a customer. I've gone back to J. Crew, after a 25-year gap (no pun intended), and also shop at Nordstrom from time to time, as well as a couple of boutiques. What a shame!

Horrible Customer Service
September 18, 2017

You suck, I used to love your company back in the day. It was amazing. Emphasis on "was".
Now, you have zero customer relations. My last experience was in fact my last; Period.
Trying to resolve my query with a sales associate, I was bombarded, repeatedly, with the constant request to become a "Luxe" member. I declined, numerous times, as I am a person with triple A credit and I do not need or want a pedestrian "store card". To finalize, I was dismissed by said employee with the quip "you are just a regular customer".
Seriously? Sell outs.

Ordered a shirt from them online. Product came with a security tag attached. They offered me a ridiculous sum as settlement which I rejected. Don't order from them. This is not the company we used to know.

My recent online shopping experience with Banana Republic was very frustrating. After placing my order, I didn't receive all the items. I reached out to their customer service, where I had to explain the issue to multiple agents as the conversation kept getting disconnected. This was incredibly time-consuming and irritating. Eventually, they initiated the refund and I was advised to reorder, but by then, the item I initially wanted was out of stock.

I followed their advice and placed an order for an alternative item, hoping for the best possible discount as promised. However, when I provided the new order number, the agent informed me that they could only consider the last order, causing further frustration.

I was even willing to wait for the out-of-stock item if they would restock it, but the conversation abruptly ended once again. I'm unsure if the issue was with their website or the agents, but after wasting a lot of time, I ended up canceling my order due to the inconvenience.

In addition to that the $25 coupon they provided in the email, twice- after purchase- none of them worked and when checked by the agent, it had already expired.

I never thought I would be writing these reviews about Banana Republic, but my experience was really disappointing!

I sent an email about an unresolved issue and received a phone call from Zack who was unavailable when I called back. Had to listen to his voice mail 5 times because he mumbled his phone number. Ended up hitting redial. He was on break so the woman that was speaking with me transferred my call (without informing me) and then was in a long cue. Called back and spoke with a woman who told me it was over 90 days so I cannot return the item. I did return the item, with their prepaid label but the item was sent back to me without being looked at. Then I was moving so the item got packed and it was never dealt with. So upset that I literally paid for a defective item, I decided to pursue this further. Bottom line is they DO NOT CARE! I will cut up my credit card and never go to Banana Republic or Gap again. Actually like Ann Taylor Loft better. Their items are nicer and I get better prices there. Bye bye Banana Republic. You do not care about your customers!

They don't allow you to make payment over the phone or online with a credit card. They make it incredibly hard to contact them. If I don't pay them and I'm late they charge me a $40 late fee. Synchrony Bank is the card provider And everything is set up to frustrate the card holder. I'd avoid Banana Republic's Rewards Program. It's like they set it up so the customer would fail.

I had one card open and they made me open another card. It looks like my old card is still active. Everything has been so frustrating to this point. It feels like a trap and if you call into their customer service they just keep passing you off to the next rep. It's not worth it move on!

I LOVE Banana Republic! The cut, the fabric and the zippers are good. The designs are stylish - very classic yet modern all at once. I find that their pieces are usually good for going out and work wear because the length doesn't get too short. However, the size chart seems inaccurate (especially for the waist). According to the chart, I should be a size 4 or 6 (more like a 6), but 2 seems to fit me the best.
Photos on the site are very reliable as they accurately depict the colours and fit well.
So far, I haven't found the need to return anything, even on my oversized purchases
Shipping is fine. I've always received my items on the promised date. It's easy to get free shipping too!
Prices can be reasonable, making their apparel value for money. I'll definitely buy from them again should I see anything I like on their site.

Refuse to cancel my order.
August 24, 2022

Placed an order and realized it was not the fit i wanted. I tried to cancel and they refuse to cancel my order after 1 hour of placing. Definitely wont buy from them again. Spoke to Shannon Johnson and rudely laughed and when i asked to speak to someone else she hung up.
