Awful fitting clothing
December 14, 2022

I used my Banana Republic card exclusively for the last three months in order to save up points to buy a new winter wardrobe. The clothes are ill fitting and actually quite ugly. The herringbone seafarer pants are massive! According to their description, the model was 5 foot 10. I am 5 foot 10 and thin. The pants definitely don't hang on me like they hung on her. I looked like a clown. They brushed marl pants are nothing more than pajamas and I couldn't possibly be seen in those in public. I didn't notice that the turtleneck description said there was a seam down the back. Who does that? I could find a better style and fit at JCPenney. The only thing worth keeping is The alpaca sweater. It's cuddly soft although a bit scratchy at the same time.

Banana Republic Credit card was likely the best reward points credit card every paired with a very reputable brand with decent quality clothing. I've been a customer for 25 years and a card holder for 14 years. The credit card point system has been changed and no longer benefits cardholders - it is now on par every other credit card reward program. You can't qualify the point system because they are now trying to comparing apples to doritos and their online checkout platform is as transparent as mud.

I went online for a final sale of jeans. I ordered a 27 size in final sale. I am a 27 waist and they fall off of me. They will not exchange. I'm livid. I will NEVER NEVER order or buy from any of their stores online or anywhere. They don't care about a 2.7 rating I suppose. They don't care period. They just want the money. And to get rid of a supply that is left. Horrible Horrible Horrible company. And so overpriced. People don't ever a final sale unless it's a true size that was supposed to be. Horrible phone customer service! Literally falling off my waist. GREED! Don't deserve a one star, but no choice here. YEP

Worse Customer Service
December 14, 2021

I just want to write to express how horrible your customer service is! I place order #17J63VK on 11/25 which was marked as fraud for no apparent reason, so I called and cleared the transaction and placed order #17YMN57 with a live representative. I missed the email from your department moments later on the same day that stated that all but two items were cancelled! Cancelled!? When I placed the order with a representative telling me what was available! How unbelievable! You could have had the decency to call me and advise that 20+ items were cancelled on the same day that I just placed it with your rep. These were supposed to be Christmas gifts but trust me, I'll NEVER order from your site again!

I don't usually write reviews about websites, but I had to do this for bananarepublic.com. I shop online A LOT, I don't have much time to go to stores, so I know how online shopping should work. While I like physical BR stores, I will never ever use their website again. For once, I ordered 3 things online becuase I had an email coupon from them I could only use online, and after almost a month of waiting for my delayed order, I get an email from them that they are sorry, they don't have any of the items I ordered. Are you kidding me? What about inventory control? And a lousy 10% apology coupon to use only on their lousy website will definitely not lure me back in. Very disappointed, good thing that while waiting on my order, I stopped by the store and picked up 2 of the things, so not all was lost.

I don't get it
April 30, 2022

I lost my connection with Banana Republic when there started to be either to much embellishment on simple things for example a blouse with sleeves or something that overpowered the simplicity of a nice blouse. I have so much vintage Banana Republic like a nice fur vest not to long or to short, suede like material with a fur collar and a nice zipper. But years later I go in and the fur vest are huge with scratchy fur and twice the price. Everything looks Boho. Toooooo expensive and not flattering and frankly I don't see anyone wearing it. Not even the sales staff? Do you need help understanding what women like? You nailed it years ago. What happened? I would love to help you. I miss going to Banana and loving what I purchased.

I received a Father's Day gift from my daughter. I selected the color shirt from Banana Republic and the wrong color arrived. They said they did not have the color even though the black color was offered and selected. It was a rather expensive shirt and a total hassle to deal with.

RACIST STAFF
March 8, 2020

EXTREMELY RACIST STAFF at 17 west 34th street NYC! I felt so offended by the overall attitude of the staff especially the ones at the fitting room. They would not take the clothes from my hand but told me to put them on the table with a condescending and racist attitude. I have never been treated like that at other stores or just anywhere! I tried to think that they were having a bad day but after the continuous maltreatment of numerous staff, I could not handle it. I am thinking of escalating this experience to the manager. Very disappointed. Worst shopping experience I had.

Bad customer service
October 6, 2022

I ordered a jacket for my daughter as a gift. I ordered what I thought was a tall small and they sent a small which didn't fit her. It was a final sale and they would not help me exchange the item for the correct size. Terrible customer service and terrible policies

Purchased a brand new utility jacket that was to be mailed out to me. I was not given a receipt nor was I informed of a new exchange policy that occurred days before. When I had to exchange it, I was not allowed to because of a few days difference despite that they had record of my purchase. Called customer service and even contacted BBB. They simply did not care. Jacket is brand new with tags, unworn, it didn't fit. Having been a loyal customer of 20 years I was greatly disappointed. I froze my credit cards and will definitely take my business elsewhere, it's apparent they just don't care.

Fake sale
January 10, 2022

At this time in Canada there is advertised 60% off sale items. When you look at men's traveller pants, you will see that below the description it says 60% taken off at check out. FALSE! Apparently the 60% off the sale item, which is isually listed at the regular retail price, is not available for a discount. The discount after discussing this with customer service agent only applies to certain colours, which are not identified. So on a Canadian order of 3 pairs of advertised saleTraveller pants the total came to $372 dollars, no discout, just the regular price! This is false advertising, a scam!

Shopping online at bananarepublic.com is super super easy if you know your size there. Usually I'll use it if I find a piece at the store that didn't come in my size. The website is bound to have it in the right size and more colors. It's also easy to navigate, but the annoying feature is the "quick look" feature that most of the time just slows down the viewing process for me. The best part of shopping at BR online is the fact that you can return the pieces at the store or through the mail; they always send a return sticker that you can pop into the mail. No hassle at all.

Don't use the "size guide"
December 14, 2022

I recently ordered a pair of corduroy pants from Banana Republic by using THEIR size guide. The chart showed that I should order a certain size, so I did, since I have never ordered pants from Banana Republic before. I trusted that their size guide was correct.
The pants came, but they did not fit, so I took them all the way downtown to the brick & mortar to return them. On the receipt, it stated that the sale was a final one, but I figured since it wasn't my mistake, that such a large store would be happy to help a customer. I was wrong. The manager told me I had to send it back to get a refund since it WAS a final sale, and she couldn't do anything, even if it was the website's error. I asked if she could do anything at the store (like a store credit?) but I was refused. It is bad enough that the manager was unwilling to accommodate, she raised her voice and scoffed at me because I felt that she could have done a store credit.

Terrible sizing
November 29, 2022

I ordered a men's sweater from Banana Republic. I ordered a large and it was about 2X in sizing. It didn't fit my son-in-law at all--he was swimming in it. He wears a large. Since it was on "Final Sale", there was no exchanging it for a smaller size. I will not order from them again. I would give them zero stars.

Horrible customer service
December 26, 2022

I ordered my item with 2-3days shipping, however the confirmation email and tracking information said that it won't deliver for 10 more days so I called the customer service. They changed what they said ( they can reorder for next day shipping and then they said they can't, etc…) They put me hold 3-4times and after I talked to them for 1 hour, they still couldn't help me anything. So I just gave it up. I will never buy anything from Banana Republic ever again.

They do a fantastic job with customer service, and as the upper end of Old Navy and Gap, they should. They offer price incentives, as well as sales. They ship a bit slowely, which they should work on.

They have some very good quality items and really great sales. I have all sorts of clothing and accessories from when Banana first opened in NYC. Stuff still looks new from 1981 when I was a high schooler. I lived in Banana in the village, and the online is just as good- exclusives are very collectible.

I have been loyal shopper of Banana Republic for 15 years, but in the last 3-4 years their styles have become so absurb. It's as if their designers get their inspiration from Dr Suess. I used to love their classic, but stylish clothes and would spend an average of $2,000/ year there. Last season I didn't buy anything and so far this season is a complete bomb. The over accessorized clothing and crazy fabrics they choose are not condusive for a corporate environment. They make sexy and feminine look ridiculous. So disappointed in Banana Republic and I hope they hire some designers who can design appropriate work wear for women. BTW. I'm writing this on behalf of many friends I know who feel the same way. We've all stopped shopping at Banana Republic.
