Amazon.com - what more can I say about it that hasn't been said already? I've been buying items from Amazon since 2003 and have never, not once, had a negative experience. I realize that now, with the various sellers, there's some more risk, but I tend to avoid those and go straight for the items sold by Amazon. And now that I own a Kindle.
LOVE amazon! Been shopping there for years. Great place to buy books, I've even sold a couple of text books there and got more than I could from the school bookstore even with the amzaon fee, I use it a lot to check out reviews before I buy products even if I don't buy them there... just can't say enough about it!
I also have auto order set up for diapers and wipes and get the CHEAP with the auto order discount plus the amazon mom discount and FREE shipping :) Also joined amazon student for free shipping for a year. Great place to find discontinued and hard to find items... bought a 3 pack of my favorite face powder for cheap after I couldn't find it in stores. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Ilove them, secure, fast and you can get anything there. I do most of my internet shopping here. Great deals!
I love this site. I order probably 90% of online shopping (which I do frequently) thru amazon. I have had a free prime membership for a year because I order diapers with them and I love that they usually have 20% off diapers in the parenting magazines since their diapers are already pretty cheap compared to most stores.
During the holidays, an item I ordered was delivered according to UPS but I never received and amazon sent out a new item OVERNIGHT with no questions asked. Not sure if it's because I order from them a lot or what but I was kind of surprised by their quick response since it was obviously not their fault that UPS delivered to the wrong house.
Excellent selections. Excellent Service. Amazon has made our providing computer services a whole lot easier over the last few years. I'd have to honest say that They are cheapest 90 - 95% of the time we price shop.
Better yet, we are PRIME customers. For only $69.00 (or so) a year, we get free 2nd say shipping or for $3.99 get overnight shipping. Regardless the size or weight. We are probably placing 10-15 orders per week, and to be frank, I know they are losing money on us when it comes to the PRIME account. But they have no limit.
As far a 3rd party purchases, I have on occasion had a problem with the 3rd party vendor. In every case it only took 1 email to Amazon and I got a refund within hours.
As far as the reviewer complaining about Amazon selling so much more than books... that really is a silly complaint. If you are searching, you can specify to ONLY search books. Come on, if it bothers you that much, then go buy your books at Barnes and Noble... and pay more. In our case, about 98% or all purchases are NOT books.
Seriously, what's NOT to like about Amazon.
On a scale of 1 to 10, they are a clear 10 for me and our business.
I've ordered hundreds of times over the last five or six years and have always been satisfied. I especially appreciate how they really work to get holiday gifts delivered on time. The only thing less than perfect is that it's challenging to get a phone number and a human to talk to but otherwise, they are way better than any other site I've dealt with.
The BEST site for ordering items around. Hastle free returns, trusted ordering. Makes ordering online easy. Just be careful, because some of the links send you to another website, and then you are no longer ordering through Amazon itself... but otherwise you are good-to-go.
I've bought many items on Amazon and my experience with all of them has been positive. I would buy again.
Best site ever. I find everything that I need there :)
Although Amazon has expanded to being a middleman of sorts selling such things as whole fresh rabbit, shaving oil and hungarian paprika - they're still good for your basics: books and music. I've never received a wrong item from them and have had amazingly good experiences with the merchants selling used books. It can be annoying to browse for certain items, like trying to look for a diary with a day per page but their suggested items are very helpful and I sometimes end up buying more than I wanted, which isn't a bad thing - $25 and free shipping is always great! I think the trick in buying used books is to look at the individual sellers' feedback - it's ebay-esque. Their music downloads sometimes are $1 or $2 cheaper than iTunes and they often have $5 album deals.
Much better than e-Bay. The charges there plus paypal charges nake it expensive for one time sellers or infrequent sellers. The marketplace is good and buying is just better than e-Bay. The e-Bay dream is that HUGE profit for the seller and the best bargain for the buyer, rarely does it work that way. It is better if you are an e-Bay shop owner. Otherwise Amazon.com is much better.
I love how you can go there and find just so much variety on, well... everything. They certainly make it easy to see a ton of choices on whatever you need and pick out the best deals. Also there are customer reviews on so many of the books and products. Perfect.
There are some things I like about this site, and other things I don't like.
A while ago, I bought some books from amazon. One book never arrived. The company I bought it from just said that they had shipped it, so I couldn't get a refund. The book never arrived.
Amazon was unwilling to get involved. They just told me to talk with the seller. Different reviewers get different community ratings, but it is still sometimes risky. Amazon doesn't accept any liability.
I do like that they have movies you can download instantly. You can rent or buy. Itunes takes forever to download, so this is a great alternative. I use netflix, but you can't watch everything instantly on netflix. I wish though that amazon made it easier to search their database. It is a bit difficult to navigate.
All in all, they have some good services. I would be careful though buying from 3rd parties.
You can buy here anything, it is excellent. Product selection is perfect, even with clothes.
Amazon has an enormous selection, and is very reliable. However, I have two main issues with it:
1. Shipping outside the U.S. is unbelievably expensive, especially considering how long it takes the products to arrive. It sometimes doubles (!) the price of your purchase. I lived in Europe for a few years and when I needed books I ordered through other sites because I did not want to pay that much for shipping.
2. Amazon sellers do not ship outside the U.S., whereas on eBay, for example, you can sellers who do.
When buying everything from textbooks to hard to find cleaning supplies I may look other places, but I usually end up back at Amazon.com. As a student, I have free two day shipping for a year!
I have always had great experiences with Amazon. You can find a ton of deals and just about anything you can think of. The marketplace allows you to find deals at the lowest price available. The site is user friendly and their customer service is about average for that type of site.
Little more needs to be said. I am an Amazon Prime member for over a year. Great quick shipping. I have returned expensive electronics, no questions asked or disputed. No shipping costs on return. I will pay an extra dollar to buy from Amazon. Not one of their outside sellers, tho. You take your choice and your chances with their outside seller.
Amazon is awesome. They even ship to deployed units using APO addresses which is cool. I've never had a problem and I have been shopping with them for a couple of years now.
I've shopped Amazon for a very long time. The few times I've had any issues with a purchase, customer service has been helpful and resolved any issues. It's a reliable place to shop, and more sites should follow their example. There's a reason why they've been around all these years.
Answer: I concur with all of the above answers except about the kindle. I have contacted Amazon via phone and they were very helpful.
Answer: Bought a hair dryer for my daughter in Melbourne. Arrived no probs.
Answer: Try Walmart! They deliver food too, and they accept EBT as well. I am switching to Walmart now because I ordered food from Amazon Fresh on 4 different occasions, and never received my groceries. I am disabled and I live alone, so I need delivery service to be reliable and dependable. Clearly, Amazon Fresh is neither reliable nor dependable, which sucks.
Answer: I have never shipped or had things shipped to or from Australia. Sorry
Answer: This problem began when Amazon Market Place started up and when I saw how bad it was with sellers selling at 3 to 4 times the full retail price at other online stores, it was a hint for me to stop supporting Amazon Market Place. If its sold by Amazon, I might buy it but I do my utmost to find a lower price so I don't have to buy it from Amazon. More often than not Bestbuy or Staples has it for the same or lower price. Bought an Asus RT AC 5300 from Bestbuy for 500 Canadian and it doesn't sell for less at Amazon. Returns are no hassle 30 day returns and no shipping just take it to a local retail store and that saves the wrapping and shipping.
Answer: Yes I do on the items I purchase and also through google and sitejabber
Answer: It takes longer if you don't pay monthly for Amazon prime.
Answer: The shipping cost is in the listing if that's what you're asking. If you click on new/used, it will be below the cost. If you have Prime, most things are free shipping.
Answer: You answer on the actual question I believe.
Answer: The above answers are good - I agree that a personal contact on the phone is best. - Go to 'Your Account', then click 'Let Us Help You' -then click Help - Then 'need more help',- then click 'Contact Us' - fill out the 3 steps and choose 'more no norder questions, - then clock on phone - from there it will direct you (how long the wait etc and they call you back)
