I am a junior-year biomedical science major. I have used Aleks multiple times throughout my college time. Every time that I use it I have trouble. This program is the worst! The explanations are terrible, do not help, and contradict what we do in class. Also, some of the answers differ from how I learned them in my class. Learning things incorrectly does not help me on my in-classroom exams! Aleks takes off for every little thing, I accidentally added an extra space in between an answer, marking me off. It makes it very difficult to get my homework and the reviews done when Aleks makes it difficult to understand or get the work done. I'm considering seeking legal counsel against this program because it's counteractive to any learning environment.

I honestly hate aleks with all my heart, it gives me a problem then when I don't understand the question it gives me some horrible explanation, I literally lost 301 million brain cells reading the first word on the aleks explanation. I highly don't recommend this site. I am in 5th grade so the explanation below was really unhelpful. But the site won't let me put 0 so I have to give it a one

This site, ALEKS, appears to be a popular platform for teachers to automatically "teach" their students math skills. The issue is that whoever created this site likely does not understand math themselves. Kids have great growing minds, and the reason so many hate math is because teachers make them memorize instead of visualize. This site makes that even worse. It should include a diagram and some step-by-step procedure with thorough explanations to explain the diagrams. ALEKS appears to teach kids through its "explanation" feature, which seriously needs to be changed. There has been many cases where I have read the explanation but still don't understand the concept, and, of course, I see the yellow screen of terror on the next question because I have no idea how to solve it. Seeing that the site is popular, it is the responsibility for the developer to revise this to make a better learning experience for all who must go through this torture.

O you got 4 out 5 right to go on another topic but wait u just missed 3 in a row and you still have 1 point left. Good luck because Alex will make you work on a totally different topic so your 30 min of work is a waste of time. This Alex program is brain dead and is the worst system I have ever worked with.

This site has brought me and my kids tears and suicidal thoughts. Why would teachers do this to our babies. I've never wanted to commit treason so much in my life. If Helen Keller was real she could teach me more through her mumbles and moans.

I myself didn't have any problems with spending six hours on the same problem, but what I did deal with was waiting 40 seconds for another problem to load. Then I spent about 20-30 seconds on it. Then I waited another 40 seconds. You see the problem here. In addition, for each topic, at least in Geo/Trig, Aleks had somewhere around 3 different problems. If you were going through the infinite review, and there were only two topics in there, you would see the same problem every 4-6 problems. That is not good. There needs to be variety.

I understand the concept of punishing students for getting something wrong as it would motivate them to get it right so they can move on to the next skill. But do you know how much stress that inflicts on somebody?

I commend ALEKS on forcing students to actually learn Math skills by way of repetition. But like I said before, it's stress-inducing.

Honestly I do not write reviews but I just had to waste more of my time than ALEKS already has. This has to be the absolute worst thing that has ever been created. I cry at least once when doing my homework. It's always after around the fifth hour I would say where I start throwing things and throw a fit like a 2 year old. I don't know, ALEKS just really brings that out in me. I am absolutely appalled at the way this system works and do not know why any professor would EVER make their students do something so horrible. All I can say is, I never contemplated throwing myself in front of a bus until ALEKS. Bravo. If you see that your class is going to have to go through this garbage can of a program, do yourself a favor an withdraw. Don't question it. Withdraw. I wish I saw these reviews before but now it is too late.

During my freshmen year of college I was frightened that I'd have to take an online class. But with the explanations and feedback that Aleks gave, I was able to pass with an A. While my experiences we're superb, I do think it'll be helpful if you had some fundamental knowledge and teacher's to help when necessary. Other than that it's amazing!

I am an older college student stuck on this p. O. s. Aleks "prepares you" for their exam, however, the exam is completely different than what they are conditioning the student with. Some questions are not even the same or haven't even gone over yet. Considering that my class grade is the majority of exams... on Aleks. I'm screwed.
