I'm having a bad airbnb service
I rented an airbnb apartment in vancouver, arriving there the apartment was not even close to the one I rented.
I refused to stay there, I had to find a hotel for the same day paying a fortune because nobody could solve the situation.
After a week and a few dozen phone calls and messages and I did not get a full refund and I had to find a hotel through booking.com to continue my annual vacation.
This situation has led to a precious loss of vacation time and a huge emotional stress throughout the Family.
Now airbnb wants to give me back 70% of the money, discounting 1 night that I have never used and a cleaning fee for an apartment that I have never used.
I feel totally cheated. Airbnb destroyed my vacation and still caused me financial loss.
I want 100% of my money back,
Airbnb never again.

We had reserved through Airbnb in March for a scheduled trip in early May to Chicago. One week prior, Airbnb informed us the owner of the rental property canceled the reservation. Airbnb would not give us the reason for the cancelation and we suspect the owner cancelled our reservation for a reservation of more money. Airbnb would only provided 10% over the cost of our initial rental. Sure, try booking a place to stay in Chicago one week prior to your scheduled trip at the same comfort level as your initial booking in March for only 10% more. Airbnb informed they would penalize the owner of the rental but they do not pass on the money to you. We had to settle for a room for a lot more money and less luxury. No more Airbnb.

Terrible customer service even after accounting for COVID.
We are suppose to get A full refund within two days, after OVER A MONTH of investigation.
We were the ones that had to prove that the host is straight lying, even though the proof was right in Airbnb messaging.
Two weeks later we are still waiting...
And when we asked where is our refund the answer was "what refund are you taking about" (instead of just checking our previous communication with them, right in Airbnb messaging...

Poor response to a host's hostility
May 26, 2021

I am sad to say I will no longer be using Airbnb or staying with friends at Airbnb houses when traveling. I recently reported an issue to Airbnb that the host was communicating with me with sincere hostility and overall refused to address the fact that she left her home a disgusting mess before we stayed. Airbnb‘s response was that I did not report an issue to them within 24 hours. However I was traveling with limited cell service, and didn't think I needed to escalate an issue at that time. I thought I would be able to talk to the host but she turned out to be incredibly rude and ignored all of the legitimate issues regarding her house. I reported this issue to Airbnb to alert them that someone like this should not be able to continue using the platform. This completely goes against the traditional environment Airbnb has had and should have. They let me know they're not going to do anything further or even look into my conversations with this host and are deciding to continue working with her which I think that is a huge mistake. Additionally, AirBnb has become way more expensive without any amenities traditional hotels offer, and when bad experiences like this happen, they just choose to ignore it. I have had great hosts before but they do not make up for the way AirBnb refuses to consider legitimate concerns from its customers. Shame.

STAYCATION IN HELL
March 2, 2020

Within 24 hours of being there I contacted Airbnb due to many household amenities not working. Almost all kitchen appliances did not work including the microwave, toaster oven, most kitchen outlets, and the washer and dryer which the owner DID NOT STATE when she gave me a tour on check in. The shower had basically no hot water and during this time it was early February and 20 degrees outside. The host did nothing to fix these issues. I called airbnb about 10 times in 4 days to cancel and get a refund and after being promised to call back and being disconnected I had a case worker finally issue a refund as promised and the case worker THEMSELVES cancelled the booking. I NEVER RECEIVED EVEN A PORTION OF MY REFUND. I spent 3 days there and paid a whooping $1670. 30 to get $80 back after being promised a full refund and not even cancelling the reservation myself. Have not and will not use Airbnb again.

Tried to book a room in San Francisco. Reservation was never processed by Airbnb, however my $1000 payment was ABSOLUTELY processed.

It was VERY difficult to reach a human being to try to resolve the problem. When I did--finally--they were no help whatsoever (even spoke to a supervisor--no joy).

In short, I DO NOT recommend you do business with Airbnb. If your experience is anything like mine, you will absolutely regret it if you do.

Air BB Story From H E L L
September 21, 2023

The customer service by host Terreract and Air B B was not helpful. The directions to the key locks was below standard. Air BB at 207 Alantic Ave in Virginia Beach Va. It took the host 95 hours to replace the key pad. Then they changed the code, I slept in my car that night. The next day someone from host opens my door on Unit 4. No knock. No text.
I hide in the bathroom. No accountability by host or Air B B.
Check out their B B complaints.

Use Verbo or a different platform.

If you want to protect your identity DO NOT book with Airbnb. Their policy (that airbnb does not have the courtesy to disclose upfront but only when you pay after spending hours researching your vacation accommodation options) of requiring offline AND online identification is crazy. For offline verification, US clients must give last 4 of SSN and birth date or passport or drivers license uploaded to airbnb's site PLUS they also want online verification - a link to your twitter, linkedin or facebook! And if you can't supply that then a uploaded video of yourself to airbnb's site! I do not give this info to the IRS or my bank AND they do not request it either. Airbnb certainly is not my personal friend and they now have access to nearly ALL my life both financial and social! In this day and age of ID theft, crazy! Bye-bye Airbnb. I'll be back if you revise your new policy.

Bad service by airbnb
February 20, 2022

I had a confirmed booking and on the day of checkin I got a canceled message. I called the host and she was equally surprised as it was canceled by airbnb. I found out from airbnb they canceled as my ID copy they had was not clear. My question is why bring this on check in date!

Airbnb Hosting
December 28, 2020

If you are thinking about using Airbnb has a host or property owner, RUN AWAY!. Airbnb for hosts is the worst service available. Their call center agents do not communicate in a timely fashion. The host interface does not always function well. And worst of all, your property can get reserved by a guest and then the guest can cancel at the last minute, in which case you'll make nothing on your property because the guest can give a bogus excuse to Airbnb customer service. KEEP IN MIND THAT AIRBNB CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL ALWAYS SIDE WITH THE GUEST REGARDLESS THE GUESTS BAD BEHAVIOR! VRBO is excellent. Use them for hosting instead.

We reserved a home with a host in Atlanta through AirBnB for March 13,2023. We received the typical "pack your bag" emails the days before we were supposed to check in. The day of check in, however, we still hadn't received a code from our host, so we reached out. After 45 minutes, we finally got ahold of someone, only to be told that they no longer owned the property. We spent the next 4 hours on the phone with AirBnB customer service and finally got a refund. However, they didn't even try to rebook us in other accommodations in a town that we were not familiar with. We had to book a hotel for 3x the price due to the last minute booking, at 8 o'clock that evening. All while trying to keep children (one with medical needs) calm. I would ask for a supervisor and was never connected with anyone. AirBnB is a joke and we will not be using them much longer. Try someone else.

ZERO STARS
September 7, 2022

I booked a home for 6 college students to attend a game in baton Rouge. Informed the host. She asked if I would be staying with the students, I said no and asked if that would be a problem. She didn't respond, In 8 hours got a message that I couldn't book for family and friends nor would I get a refund of $691. When I asked where the policy was, they had ro walk me through finding it. About 4 clicks. Not next to the "Pay" button. SCAMMERS CAN HAVE A BALL OVA HERE!

Terrible
March 28, 2020

My extended family and I go to South Padre every year for a family vacation. A month ago we booked a condo through Airbnb. With Covid-19 hitting the United States hard, myself and another member of my family in another town are shelter in place. Myself and two other members of my extended family are essential employees and are now unable to take the time off of work. Airbnb refuses to give us a refund and now refuses to even give us half of the amount paid back. They are telling us Turnkey has the money. Turnkey says they have not received the money from Airbnb. It is a shame that in people's time of need a company can be as ugly as this one is. To think, I am working so people can receive the medical equipment they need right now and this is the appreciation a company shows. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Will not use airbnb again
January 1, 2023

Rented a room through airbnb for 2 days. I entered the host's apartment to find out that she had no heat working, although there was a wall heater in the apartment. I questioned her and asked if she had a small space heater and she replied no and followed this up with the statement that the large heater is also not working. Outside temperature was dropping to 40 F and the apartment was cold. I called airbnb to complain and after a lengthy discussion, they wanted pictures supporting my allegations. I am trying to explain my conversation with the women to the airbnb rep and that it's difficult to prove a negative--ie she has a heater but it does not work--by taking photos. Even the over-door bathroom heater did not work. I left the apartment after waiting another hour for airbnb to contact me--they did not-- (time now 2000 hours) to find another place to stay. Airbnb never contacted the host while I was there. The next day I get a message from them stating that the host has heat working which was pretty much a lie. Airbnb refuses to refund my 2 nights stay because I have no pictures supporting my statement. Their outsourcing does not help the problem since the supervisor is also part of the outsource support team. I have used Airbnb for almost 7 years without incident but lately, the last 2 rentals have been poor and customer service has not been good. Their inability to expedite problem resolution and believe the host over me is why I will no longer use their services.

Disgusting
April 25, 2020

If I could give them a zero I would. Booked accommodation in India for April. The the virus came. Based on the hosts advice I moved the dates back only to be told because I did that no refund. I am not sure how they want me to get from Australia to India when both countries are on lockdown, I guess they want me to swim. The host is refusing to give me a refund and air b n b have been zero help. This was my first and will be my last experience with air b n b. I wish I had read all the poor reviews before I booked with them, lesson learned. Please learn from my experience and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, what a fraud.

Screwed out of $350
August 31, 2022

We have been saving five years for my wife to go back to the Philippines to spend time with her mother before it's too late. She made reservations through Airbnb for a condo but then the airline changed her flight and she was going to need to leave the Philippines a day earlier. We contacted the host who said we couldn't change the dates but we could cancel the reservation and rebook. We went on the Airbnb website but during the cancellation process we noticed that the host had a "no refund" policy. Wasn't it curious how she suggested that in the first place? I saw a cancel button on the page so I hit it thinking I was cancelling the process but no, it cancelled the reservation and now Airbnb says there's nothing that can be done. We're just out all that money. I am beyond upset. We are not wealthy and this is a huge amount of money for us. Stay away from Airbnb. Far away...

I am a single "adult" woman. Over 50. I discovered to NEVER, EVER RENT FROM A SINGLE MALE.

My one experience was horrendous. The 28 yr old host was subletting a room when was subletting THE ONE BEDROOM APT. He slept on couch. NO amenities, joint bathroom with HIM and used sheets. Obviously disappointed when I arrived as an older woman, not a cute chick. His response to my inquiry. ( Sweet Alston! No problem. Swing on by (no pun intended) red light warning.

The creep is still renting a room. GIAN MICHAEL IN SALINAS, CA. I've since rented from women and couples with no problems..

Don't use Airbnb
April 26, 2020

I'm extremely disappointed in Airbnb and their response to COVID-19. My fiancé and I have had to cancel our original wedding and honeymoon plans due to the virus. We had booked our honeymoon with Airbnb and we're very excited. After we were forced to cancel our plans, and writing to Airbnb to ask for a refund, we were given no response and no refund back. We are both out of work due to the virus and need that money back to start our life together. We will not be booking Airbnb in the future, and will not suggest it to anyone else either.
