I'm leaving Airbnb due to very poor customer service. Also - couple years ago it was worth it, you could find nice place to stay for decent price, now many places in Airbnb is more expensive than 4* hotels and places are with lack of hygiene or just nasty. Airbnb customer support doesn't help at all with scammer hosts.

So no - better take a hotel and avoid the headache you might have when arriving to place you can't take a shower cause it's enormously dirty.

I add pictures of what shower I got last time in flat in Tangier for 93€/night. Airbnb customer service didn't help, as I claimed the issue, the host left a bad review to me instead of apologizing and Airbnb wrote - issue solved. Thanks!

Host claimed it was pictures after I used the place and that I left the place dirty, though I have screenshots of her wishing me to come back before I complained and other proves that host is lying.

She even left a bad review about me which was all lie.

Airbnb allows these kind of hosts to do anything.

Did you know the only thing that protects the renter is a $50 or $100 cancelation fee to the host. The host could literally cance hours before check in and the only thing they get punished with is a $100 fee from ABnB? Meanwhile as a renter I was left with no family vacation. Increased nightly expenses. Change of flight fees. I will never rent from ABnB again.

Booked accommodation through airbnb. Airbnb client took my money, no accommodation provided. Airbnb refused to take responsibility and refused to refund me. EBAY and Amazon would assume responsibility and protect the integrity of their markets. Not Airbnb. Their market has no integrity and is doomed. BEWARE! DO NOT USE AIRBNB!

So I booked my reservation back in January and due to Covid-19 I have decided to cancel it. Now my check in wasn't until the middle of November so 7 months away from the check in date. This was costing me about $1100 originally. So having canceled they only are refunding me 50% of the cost because for a full refund you must cancel 48hrs after confirmation and 14 days before check in. Since it wasn't meeting both criteria I get only $600 back while they keep $500! 7 months is MORE than enough time to book someone else in the slot I had been in originally! I contacted both air bnb and my host and I'm basically being told it is my own fault at this rate. I would have better luck at a hotel to get my money back! NEVER using these people again this is an absolute joke!

This Airbnb at 6204 beechwood avenue, sarasota FL hosted by Kayla does not care about their renters.
We had rented for Oct 8 - 15th and the hurricane hit. She had earlier promised she would accept cancellation if the hurricane came. Well, it came and she had some damage to the property, so we asked for a cancellation or rebook. The dates we wanted to rebook she said were taken. So we asked for a full refund. She would not refund us our 100%. Luckily I was in the 7 day to get at least 50% back. Why would we come to FL right now? Can't go to many things. Not much open, food stores, gas stations, restaurants, beaches, etc. Not sure if she was even honest that she had power.

DO NOT rent from this person under Airbnb!

Thank you

I went to Harrison, Arkansas & stayed at a cabin owned by a Teena C. I left a good review and afterwards discovered I left my cardigan. I contacted Teena about leaving it on the bed & offered to pay the shipping fee to have it returned. Teena responded that I didn't report it for 3 days & that she didn't have a lost & found. She did not offer any help & Airbnd delayed for 72 hours a resolution refund. Teena didn't respond to Airbnd either. GASP! Airbnd only offered a coupon for use at my next stay. I wanted the sweater or money but this wasn't possible. Hopefully everyone packs all their stuff & doesn't experience what I did. Both host@ Airbnd need to be more professional!

Horrible structure
March 3, 2023

First you try and book and you have to go through a third party verification process called Plaid. I go through that and get told that my information can't be verified and i have a Chase account. You call Customer Service and they are beyond what words can say. No help whatsoever and go off a script.

This whole structure is terrible and having to verify your card when i use it every day. Its a payment method and having to jump through hoops to get a reservation

Will never use them as i tried and couldn't get any response that was interlilgible.

In booked a three night stay in London for October 16,2020. Due to Covid-19 I cancelled my airfare and cruise with no problem at all. I prepaid in full for Airbnb and received less than half of my money back. I spoke to the host who said he only receives his share after the trip is complete and its in Airbnb court. Why should these crooks get to keep more than half my money when I am cancelling 6 months before the trip. DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM.

I was looking for an appartement in Kefalonia, Greece, contacted the owner for some details he responded, then I made a reservation. SInce then no news. I contact Airbnb they told me to look for a new one since the appartement I cant find it any more... not a good first taste. So I hesitate to go further in a new reservation, I suppose they play games to change prices higher maybe? Owners are the types they dont like questions to prouve the pictures are what you ll really get?

I have been in an ongoing fight with air bnb due to coronavirus. Unfortunately, the supervisor did not call me back like they said they would and they withdrew ANOTHER $600 when I cannot even stay at this air bnb. I am LIVID especially since I cannot contact them because my reservation is more than 72 hours away. This is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with.

I've used airbnb for years with only a mild issue here and there. Finally my turn on the roulette wheel came and I got stuck with a filthy, unsafe space. Notified immediately and left that squatter shack and asked for full refund and help rebooking. Took 24 hours of constant calls and messages to get full refund and NEVER got help rebooking ended up booking hotels for $200-400 ZERO help from airbnb ZERO coupons offered to offset costs and frustration. Don't gamble with your vacay, your time on the roulette wheel of getting fuqt by airbnb might come soon. Save the hassle and just book a hotel b/c yolo! Airbnb customer service reps have a rep for not being helpful and now I know why give it a google before you waste your next vacay!

Really bad website
December 19, 2014

Really bad website. From a host point of view. They keep the full payment from the guest until the guest arrived to your place. They pay you the day after. However, we have not received payment yet from a guest that came and left for about 2 weeks now. We have been emailing them to no avail. No response. Just automated reply that says the same thing over and over. I would not recommend it to any one. They cannot be trusted, not one bit. They don't reply to you. They have no concern about you, except the money. STAY AWAY, AS A HOST AND AS A CUSTOMER. Once and issue arise, you will get NO HELP. NO HELP I TELL YOU.

I made a reservation on airbnb from a woman named Antoinette 3923 Windsor Lane, Hyattsville MD *******. With no explanation this woman canceled my reservation so now I have to scramble to find another place for my group coming for a football game. Antoinette if you cant keep up your CONTRACTS or just cant afford it or cant afford to do it properly...maybe you should just leave it alone and let the grown ups do this. I blame this on airbnb that allows hosts to cancel at anytime.

Covid restrictions
August 7, 2021

Airbnb is a horrible company. We make a reservation for Greece and Greece becomes a high-risk destination. CDC said to travel only if is an emergency. We want to make a cancelation and they do not want to give back our money because for them Covid is not an emergency. We open a case with BBB.

Most of the times I've used Airbnb I've had great experiences. It's an awesome alternative to hotels (Usually the price are just to high).
Benefits of using Airbnb for me:
* price
* You can stay in a real home or apartment and communicate with people, learn more about places to visit. I usually get great advices from hosts.
* new experience
* discounts
* referral program
* you can use kithen, washer etc
What you may not like:
* Sometimes it may be hard to get to apartment
* Hosts may be not at home if you arrived earlier than the arranged time
* you have to cook for youself or eat somethere out if you rent the whole apartment

Never Again!
April 14, 2021

We booked for Spring Break 2021 eight months in advance. Host canceled two days prior, due to a water leak. I'm confident that we were canceled because they were able to rebook for more money. The host was unapologetic upon canceling and could not provide proof of said water leak. Airbnb could not find another place for us to stay. We frantically looked for a place and found one twice the price. Of course, it's spring break in Florida!

While in Florida, we met several people that this happened to. It was unbelievable to listen to virtually the same story. In the end, Airbnb did give us back $500 plus our full refund and they were easy to get ahold of and work with. I don't feel this made up for the situation. I would never book again. You are at the mercy of the host, and there is no protection from Airbnb.

Horrific customer service, I cancelled my Airbnb booking for July 2nd many weeks ago (2 days outside of their cancellation policy for refund) Property owner happy re-rented his home and Airbnb got a second booking fee for the same time period. They are refusing to refund my $600 booking fee despite that for the last week COVID-19 cases have been on the sharp increase in the state we were planning to vacation in. How can they be profiting on other peoples misfortunes during a pandemic, they are a disgrace.

BIG warning
July 24, 2021

BIG WARNING. Some hosts have set their accommodation to automatic confirm bookings. This means they will not necessarily know they have a booking and that you are coming. You will only notice once you are outside the door of the place and Airbnb will only offef you a refund and you will have nowhere to stay.

Pervert in New Mexico
August 29, 2015

I am a travel Rn and got a contract in Roswell NM and found a place on airbnb. I contacted the owner who want to rent outside of the airbnb site at a significantly cheaper rate which i thougt would be great Pixs misrepresented the property. It was a double wide trailer and I ended up staying WITH the owner and his son. Trust me not enough room in his double wide trailer. I ended up sleeping on a bunk bed in the laundry room and there was absolutely no privacy. He accepted another booking and expected me to "move" into his room and his bed sharing his master bath while he stayed on the property in a camper. He also expected me to maintain the property, care for his dog, and run his airbnb business so he could go on vacation. Single female so my creepy meter went off. I paid for 30 days in advance. I know pretty stupid and never will get a refund. This guy is a total jerk using airbnb to hook you then book out side of the site so can't get my money back. Beware of Roswell nm

What was advertised on the picture is not what you get. The place is loaded with cockroaches, broken widows and piss stains on the pillows. The owner MD Mizanur & Moustafa will scam you! You will be screwed out if your money with their no refund policy. The shower is right above toilet so your entire toilet including your toilet roll gets wet. This place is a total scam. Worse AIrbnb will not do a damn thing about it. They will make excuses and support the host who is scamming you. Stay away from Airbnb completely it's not worth it. Airbnb has no control over quality. The collect all your money upfront plus their fee and than you are totally screwed. Stay away from Airbnb.
