I ordered a pair of Kansas City Chiefs Shorts from the Springfield Academy store on Aug. 14th.
Suppose to be ready to pick up on Aug. 21st. Called the store to see if they were ready? The shorts were
Not there and they didn't know where they were! Called the store everyday that week and still they didn't know where they were. They were No Help at All! And Everyone I talked to could careless! Called on Aug. 28th a full 2 weeks since I ordered the shorts. Was told the they shipped out of the Olathe Kansas store on Aug. 15th. And Evidently they came in with (what I can only guess) was other Kansas City Chiefs apparel and was put out on the floor as floor stock. The Only good thing about this is Store Manager Bryan found out what happened and I was able to pick up my shorts today. Aug.28. Oh and they gave me a $ 5.00 off coupon... Yippee! I gave it away to someone in the store on my way out. At this point I honestly don't think I'll be buying Anything from Academy sports Again!

I ordered a size 8.5 clete online because they were out of stock in my local store. On my online form, it clearly says 8.5
When I got my package, the BOX says 8.5
However, the shoes are a 10!
This is ridiculous! I feel like they just grabbed a random size and put them in the size of box I was needing just to make the shipment!
Unless you get an instant approval on your background check for a gun purchase forget about buying one here. If you get a delay response they will never call you back and cancel the sale. So you may as well cancel it yourself instead of waiting for them to call you. Worst gun purchase experience i've ever had. Go to a local mom and pop store.
Academy Sports had a Remington 64 gun safe advertised on their Black Friday sale for that day only. We were there when it opened that morning and they did not have one of the advertised safes in the store. They will not order one and honor the price. They just say unfortunately we are unable to honor our advertisement even tho they did not have a single one to sell. This is totally unacceptable and I will not support a business that operates like this!
I have not had this quality of customer service in some time. The ladies are great, helpful and non discriminatory.
I tried to order an Old County gravity fed smoker and I called as I prefer to speak to someone and not order online. I had an issue with my credit card, my fault, I had a daily limit I didn't know about. The ladies helped me work through the issue, no judgement.
My smoker was delivered damaged, a lot of cosmetic damage. It was not in a crate, it was shipped in one, damaged by the shipping company. There were a few defects like the wheels were bent and the door also. I had to cook for 200 people so I needed to use it, runs great. Academy Sports worked with me on a mutual agreement and made good on the damage. I chose to keep it and live with the cosmetic damage with the offer they made. I wish there was one in New Hampshire and I recommend them. Thank you for your outstanding customer support.
Had a dumb kid that was disrespectful and was mocking me In front of a lifeless manager and the manager Luis pretended not to see him. He ended up denying my sale and was laughing about it. When I spoke to the Manger she said he has every right to deny my sale if his not comfortable with me. I'm like what? He disrespected me but I get denied a sale? Really? Very un professional kids work there and get away with everything. I will never shop there again we purchased our weapons from capella instead. Really bad customer service you get ignored and they are as rude as hell.
I'm here to tell you my days of standing in line for ur 1st come 1st serve bs are no more! And then only be able to buy 3 boxes like we r in Russia! From now on, all my shooting needs are met a Cabela's in Okc Oklamoma! They r fully stocked and have no silly rules.
Bought a gun. Went to pick up after 3 business days. I was told That I had cancelled it. I told them I never cancelled it and waited the 3 days. I told them if I cancelled, I would have wanted a refund. They obviously have someone else cancel and got it mixed up with my name. So now the other person is not getting his wishes taken care of and I was told that I would have to go through all the paperwork and background check again which was over 45 minutes last time. I informed in house at Academy and never heard a response back. They did not care. They did a thorough review of all paperwork and walked me to counter to purchase gun (even though no gun was in my possession at time of purchase) but did not even check to make sure they had the right person that wanted a cancel. Incompetence
I visited the Concord, NC location to look at a gun safe. I talked with 3 employees, including the guy in guns, about the safe. They told me the code to open the safe. However, none of them knew the safe was broken. The manager didn't care, and the employees did not know. I honestly felt like no one in the store cared. I will never spend money with Academy in the future.
The website is incredibly slow, and half of the buttons you are supposed to click don't work (like the Checkout button). Not to mention the design is ugly. When I finally got the checkout to work it refused to let me place my order, making up a different reason every time. (Invalid zipcode, invalid credit card number, didn't confirm payment method etc.)
A new Academy Sports store opened up not far from me. We went in and bought sones shoes for my son. He wore them about a week before there was a big hole in the toe. I took the shoes in the box, and the receipt to the customer service desk. They said I could either get a full refund, or exchange the shoes. Wow! The lady was very friendly through the whole exchange. I had read other reviews that claimed bad service from different Academy stores, so I was pleasantly surprised when I was treated so well. I will continue shopping there! Great store and service!
I placed an order online and put in my discount code. Did not get my discount, when I contacted them I was told to cancel that order and reorder, which I did but still no discount. I was told I would get an email when my order was ready for pickup. Nothing! I sent a complaint in and was told I would here back in a "Few days", over 10 days later and still no response. Thankfully I checked on my order the day after it was supposed to be delivered to find it was ready for pickup, or it would have been returned. Terrible online system and customer service!
I purchased 45 ammo a few months back. I tried to load my 45 Kimber automatic last night and the rounds were entirely too long. I start looking at the ammo it says for a revolver. The representative at academy sports pointed and told me that's what he had and then sold it to me. I told him it was for a 45 automatic, and I did not realize that it was different until I tried to load the pistol. I tried to return it and the manager didn't even want talk to me and said I suggest you know what you're buying before you buy it! The manager was extremely rude and didn't even want to hear what I had to say! This happened at Academy sports in Franklin Tennessee. I will never buy anything from them again!
I recently bough a jock strap for my nephew and - not knowing which size to buy - I asked the associate if I bought the Large and X-Large if I could return the unused one. He said I could, no problem.
Fast forward about three weeks and I had time to go back and return the unused item. I was then told my return could not be accepted. If the item were used or worn I would understand, but the associate just looked at me funny when I tried to explain my previous interaction with an associate in his own store.
I ended up chucking the whole thing in the trash on the way out and saying goodbye to my $40. I have a lot of options for my sporting goods needs and I will not be utilizing Academy again.
Quality Control and customer service are both terrible. I purchased a pair of pants for my son. The first time he wore them they appeared short, even though they are the same size as others that fit him. After washing them and hanging them up for the first time, I noticed that they had different lengths of legs on each side. One side had an inseam of 18.5" and the other had an inseam of 20". I messaged their chat service and they offered me a 10% coupon to buy a new pair. No thanks! (Don't want any other wonky made pants.) Then, they gave me an email to contact. The email I sent was NEVER responded to.
I bought a very expensive pair of Brooks shoes from them in January. They already have holes forming in the insoles I have the receipt and tried to return them within the 60 days, but they won't refund me because I don't have the shoebox. I have spent over $1,000 at their store, but won't spend another Penny there.
It says on the site that any item of $25 or more gets free shipping. However, i ordered an item of $400 and i did not receive any free shipping. I contacted costumer service and all she said was that my order doesnt qualify for free shipping. Plus, i wish i never purchased from them, ended up paying the double of what it costs on any other store. I definitely do not recommend this store to my worst enemy. That was my first and last purchase from them.
I had placed an online order for primers which are in high demand. They were in stock when I paid them.
For no apparent reason other than a high demand for them they cancelled my order. To say I'm upset is an understatement, they were in stock at the time of purchase, I have to assume they gave my inventory to someone else. I would and will not place another online order from academy you may or may not receive it.
I wish I could give less than 1 star!
I contacted Academy sports Because the pool I ordered had not been delivered. Academy said it was lost, so I contact at FedEx and they said they had it and that I could pick it up within the next week. The very next day Academy sports Cancelled my order Without telling me first, when I called to ask why they did that they had no answer for me they also told me that it could not be replaced because it was on back order. If I could give lower than one star I would. I have never had such bad customer service and all my life.
Going to be a long disappointing summer for my kids! Very sad.
Been with Academy for 3 years. My wife and I caught Corona Virus at different time, but back to back. I was the worst not able to work for 10 days. I have never been late on payment. When I was able to leave the house. I did made a 25 usd payment. Not the 35 they requested. They refuse to dismiss the late charge. I cancel for they can't see it was a hard time.
