I went to place an online order of several hundred dollars, they offered a discount and free shipping on orders over 25.00 as I went to place order they did show the discount but were charging shipping. I contacted CS, the told me there are exceptions to the free shipping. "heavy and bulk" items are exempt. My Item was a 12 pound anchor. Really. I canceled the card never placed the order and am glad I found out there policies and responsiveness before being swindeled more
I made a trip to the store this morning to pick up some trick worms that the website said we're in stock found them pulled 5 packs off the peg went to the reel counter found a reel that I wanted 2 employees were standing behind the counter about 20 feet from me I stood there for around 10 minutes both of looked directly at me numerous times never offered to help or even acknowledge that I was there so I sat the worms on the counter and walked out I was going to purchase a 200 dollar reel and some more items I have spent a lot of money with academy in the past but looks like tackle warehouse will get my business from here on
As of June 23,2020 store 7 in Houston, Tx located off 290 and 1960 has six (6) employees out of work sick, due to showing symptoms of COVID-19. One (1) of the six (6) sick employees is currently hospitalized. The Store Director, Yisel Ockey, is only informing her employees of one ill employee in an attempt to mask the seriousness of the situation while her employees are having to get the truth from other co-workers. Academy's corporate office, located in Katy, knows of these six (6) sick employees, but is not informing its stores, or customers in order to remain in business. Before visiting this store, be mindful of who you are giving your money to as well as what this store could be giving you in exchange without your knowledge. Academy Sports + Outdoors and its store directors, like Yisel, do not care for its customers' health by remaining open without informing the public of the high risk of contact to the virus within store 7, and possibly others, just to collect your money. On another note, if you have fallen ill recently and visited this store shortly before showing symptoms, be aware this could be a likely source. If you have opted for store pick up or have ordered online, please note that the employees assigned to those tasks are apart of the six (6) sick employees. If you absolutely need something from Academy Sports + Outdoors specifically, please go out of your way to find a different location. If you order online, please take the appropriate measures to sanitize your package and the contents inside once received, as the employees are not doing so.
I purchased two 2XL Columbia PFG shirt worth 40+ dollars. The shirt didn't fit my son, and the receipt went missing. So we went to exchange it the next day for the correctly sized shirt (I must stress we did not ask for a refund just to exchange the incorrect shirt with all of the
Tags and stickers still attached for the correct shirt) instead we were credited eighteen dollars for the correct shirts that we exchanged and were forced to pay the rest. It is also important to note that there is a fundamental problem with the manner in which the purchases are registered. An example of the problem is how absolutely none of the charges we made on a singular card were present in academy's system. To be perfectly clear we bought the shirts the day before on one card as a lump purchase. The employees we talked to were extremely rude and the manager was dismissive and disrespectful. We will not shop at Academy again because of the complete lack of respect we encountered.
Found some items I wanted for my nieces and nephews and decided to purchase through Academy. While checking out I was offered a discount for accepting their credit card. Big mistake... I was given my credit limit and directed to check out but my card was not loaded to get the discount. Contacted customer service who informed me that they couldn't help me and referred me to card services. Contacted card services, which one thing positive was they were quick to answer, but they were unable to assist because they had no access to fix the concern I was having with the online sure or even to confirm my information although their automated service was happy to tell me that I had an account with a zero balance and a quite hefty open to buy on it. If they want people to buy from them they should make things easier for the consumer. Consumers shouldn't be penalized because there are system flaws. I guess I'll be going back to $#*!'s because at least they have really great customer service.
I went online and ordered a chaise lounge chair that was suppose to be available at my local Academy in Thibodaux Louisiana. The morning I went to pick it up I got a call from the store saying the chair isn't available. I told the associate they should not advertise a product they don't have for sale. About an hour later they called back and mysteriously they had a chair for me. I went to pick it up and when I got home and opened the box I found the chair to be banged up, scuffed, and very used. I noticed a shipping label on the box with another customers name on it. Clearly it had been returned and now Academy was trying to resell a damaged chair to me, SHAMEFUL. When I went to return the chair I asked for a manager. I was told her name is Natalie but she was too busy to talk with me. I asked for the district managers name and contact information but the associate refused to provide it. I went home and called corporate. They told me the district managers name was Michelle Allen and they would have her contact me. I never heard back from her and I called corporate again multiple times and got nothing but excuses. Sounds like Academy is full of cowards and poorly trained staff only interested in making a fast buck. I have spent thousands of dollars over the years at Academy, but no more. I will tell my family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors to spend their cash elsewhere. After all, there is nothing at Academy that I can't get somewhere else, and probably for less money.
I ordered a pair of shoes for my daughter, I got the order in today and there was only 1 shoe! I had to spend over 40 minutes on hold to be told I now have to drive into town and drop off at a fed ex location to get my refund, I ordered online to avoid going in anywhere. My first time ordering from them and will be my last. I do not recommend. It is obviously to much o ask to check the box before mailing
I wish I could give less than 1 star!
I contacted Academy sports Because the pool I ordered had not been delivered. Academy said it was lost, so I contact at FedEx and they said they had it and that I could pick it up within the next week. The very next day Academy sports Cancelled my order Without telling me first, when I called to ask why they did that they had no answer for me they also told me that it could not be replaced because it was on back order. If I could give lower than one star I would. I have never had such bad customer service and all my life.
Going to be a long disappointing summer for my kids! Very sad.
I visited the Concord, NC location to look at a gun safe. I talked with 3 employees, including the guy in guns, about the safe. They told me the code to open the safe. However, none of them knew the safe was broken. The manager didn't care, and the employees did not know. I honestly felt like no one in the store cared. I will never spend money with Academy in the future.
Bought a brand "new" Schwinn mountain bike. I rode it 10 feet and the back tire blew out. Upon further review, the tube was the wrong size. I went back and bought the 27.5 inch tube that was given to me by a worker. It too was the wrong size. Then I ordered the correct tubes from Amazon and discovered the lip on the tire was broken. When I explained this to the staff, they couldn't care less. Ann who was a "manager" was particularly worthless. I was actually going to buy a new tire for the "new" bike but, you guessed it, they dont sell it. So they sold me a broken bike labeled "new" that wasn't new, with the wrong size tube in it, and a busted tire that the right tube won't stay in the tire. Never. Again. Again, Ann was worthless. Made no effort to help me even though I had the new bike with me and am a regular customer. I bought 3 bikes the day I bought mine. So frustrated. All bike shops are closed for the foreseeable future due to Coronavirus. So I guess I bought a 300 dollar piece of metal that will be unrideable for 6 months. GD it! I won't buy a single bullet, keychain, ANYTHING from this place ever again. I'm also going to tell everyone I know to do the same.
First let me say I have been waiting for the status of a firearm application and have heard one too many excuses, but I just called and someone impersonating a manager with a high pitched voice told me that I can take my business elsewhere and to contact the FBI... I sure will take my business elsewhere and hope everyone reading this does the same!
Ordered items online for in store pickup. Items were listed in stock at my store. Ordered canceled with no explanation. Guess it's back to AMAZON.
A new Academy Sports store opened up not far from me. We went in and bought sones shoes for my son. He wore them about a week before there was a big hole in the toe. I took the shoes in the box, and the receipt to the customer service desk. They said I could either get a full refund, or exchange the shoes. Wow! The lady was very friendly through the whole exchange. I had read other reviews that claimed bad service from different Academy stores, so I was pleasantly surprised when I was treated so well. I will continue shopping there! Great store and service!
This company is incredible and have some of the best deals on shoes and workout gear. This store is for everyone.
The stores are clean, bright, and the staff is helpful. They could have more help around the store to help the customers. The prices are still too high on goods, although they do have a price match on the same item from another store. However, the customer has to find the item on-line to get the price match. We couldn't find it and did not get the price match on our item. The other store had the item at the lower price by 33% just not on the website. In the end the store did not honor the lower price. In this case the other store should get the business.
O'Rageous it's brand of company Academy.
I bought a O'Rageous sun hat from natural straw for $9.99. The hat has a bad quality, a straw began to broke so fast. I wrote to the company, and they give me about $5 off.
But be carefully to buy items here, most has not so good quality, need to detail check.
I didn't receive a sandals from my order, and the customer service refused to help or send the sandals again.
The absolute WORST online merchant I have EVER dealt with! I make over 90% of my non-food purchases online and have NEVER seen such DECEITFUL practices.
BEWARE! Here's the trick Academy.com employs regarding item stock status:
*** In Stock Online: Usually leaves warehouse in 1-2 business days.
These items Academy.com actually DOES have in stock and will ship quickly.
*** In Stock Online: This item may ship from a different location and therefore is only eligible for ground shipping.
These items Academy.com DOES NOT have in stock. These items are probably drop shipped from the manufacturer.
To my chagrin, I ordered an item with the later stock status. The manufacturer is out of stock with no estimated delivery date. Yet, Academy.com STILL lists this item as IN STOCK.
HERE'S THE ABSURD PART: Academy.com REFUSES to cancel the order!
Reputable online merchants would never falsely represent their inventory. And if there were for some reason a shortage, they would immediately provide an option to cancel.
My order confirmation promised delivery within 3-5 business days. Now I am in limbo. No delivery in sight. And Academy.com renews the pending authorization on my credit card every time it expires, reducing available credit.
My advice: NEVER, EVER ORDER FROM ACADEMY.COM! You have been warned...
