Academy deserves 0 stars. This company doesn't care about its customers. They lie about delivery dates and stock status daily. There corporate office is like talking to two year olds. All they can say is sorry I didnt do it. I cancelled all my orders and cut their high interest academy card in pieces. Never sign up for that no matter how many times they pressure you in store and online. Janessa M. Provided no help at their corporate office. Hopefully, Amazon shuts them down sooner than later
Academy is horrible. They carry the lower end of product lines. The worst thing about them is attempting to shop online with them. Product descriptions are not always for the product you're viewing. The availability of products is not correct. The return process is a nightmare, especially if returning the item to a store. First a request has to be made. Then they email you a receipt with a barcode which is supposed to be scanned at the store. Sounds simple enough, except that the system won't be able to find the transaction. This has happened to me twice. First time the manager had to override the system, and manually enter the pricing info. Second time was a little more involved as I was trying to exchange the wrong size pants for the correct size pants. I purchased the regularly $34.99 priced pants on sale for $20.99, plus tax they were $22.72. Academy sent the wrong size. I wanted to exchange them for the correct size. Doesn't work like that. They issue a refund for the return. Then treat the replacement as a new transaction. The system could not find the transaction. Then the system issued a refund of $14.99, which was the price of a shirt that was on the same order, minus tax. The sales tax was not even refunded. So, I'm already out $6 at this point. Then they ring up the replacement pants, and they are now regular price (did not know this until I reviewed my receipt after leaving). Total scam. Customer purchases sale item, send them the wrong size, then charge them full price for the replacement item. Great business model if you don't want to retain loyal customers. After doing the math I came to the realization that I had spent a little over $40 for a pair of pants which were supposed to be $22.72. I do not trust Academy, and will no longer shop with them.
I got approved for a credit card the cashier pretty much begged me to sign up for. Ever since getting the credit card it's been nothing but a hassle. Every time I tried to use it I had to call customer support to get a restriction lifted. Now I have to do some more EXTRA $#*! and send 3 forms of ID just to use my card now. I don't have my social security card and I have to have that an inconvenience myself like I'm trying to get a job 🤦🏽. This has all around been a bad experience for a card I didn't even never thought about until it was brought to my attention. With service like this I don't think ACADEMY will be in Mississippi much longer.
I attempted to use their website to order 9 items. After 3 attempts and 3 telephone conversations with customer service people, covering 4 hours I thought My order was placed. WRONG! The last conversation was with a rep who called me, apologized for my difficulties and offered a 15% discount to compensate for my experience. 8 days later I visited their official website ( NO TELEPHNE NUMBER PROVIDED), because there were no shipping updates; emailed to m, as promised. Their automatic HELP system was useless.
The customer service provided by Academy Sports and Outdoor can be likened to the SERVICE a cow gets from a bull!
I ordered shoes online and they were delivered today but they have a security tag on them. I ordered online so I would not have to go to the store. I started an online chat with customer service and he said to print the label and send them back via FedEx. Then he would reorder them and give me 30% discount off for the inconvenience. Well first of all I don't have a printer and second of all they were on sale and now they are not so the discount he was giving me is only $4.23 less not 30%. That isn't even worth the gas or inconvenience. I am terribly disappointed.
Selected 2 pairs of shorts off hot deal rack. Both rang up full price. Realized after I got home. I took them back & was told I needed to read the sign closely as they were not a hot deal. I waited at the service desk while 2 employees ignored me for 10 minutes. I won't be.
Don't waste your time returning if you had to get another debit card due to fraud. They refuse to refund the $98 for shoes because because I have a new debit card which was not my choice. Instead a merchandise card I'll never spend any money there again.
I was shocked and surprised to learn from the sales associate that Academy Sports & Outdoor does not offer everyday Military/Veteran discounts. They only offer that at certain times. Unlike one of their competitors ie. Bass Pro Shop. They are new in our City. Port St. Lucie FL. I'm sure AS&O wanted to tap into one of this Country's fastest growing Cities, That's fine. Veterans tend to be very loyal. This Veteran will stay loyal to companies that appreciate the service and sacrifices of the Men and Women who are Serving, have Served and those who will Serve this Country. Remember you Vote with your Wallet. Other than that. The store was clean. The staff was friendly. The price point is on point with their competition. Competition is good for the consumer after all.
I ordered a product with a deal price. There was no movement and the order was canceled when we entered the estimated delivery date.
And they just say; Sorry! Out of stock!
And, the product is listed again at a regular price! Also, still waiting refund!
Be aware of this company, especially SALE products.
Double charged me for a child's bike helmet. I only received one. Customer services presumed to argue with me about only placing and paying one time when there is a double transaction on my bank account that says otherwise. So I have one bike helmet for the total amount of 77.88 and a return label for a second helmet I have not received. I will never make a purchase with this company again!
I ordered a Stanley tumbler. First one received was damaged. Returned and reorder. Second was the wrong size and color. Same thing has happened with shoes. Online order. Needed by a certain date and wrong size was sent. Whoever packages their online orders is awful!
I ordered an electric bike online...pressed the order button and noticed the shipping address had changed and defaulted to my billing address. Normally that would not a problem but I chose the store in Oklahoma because I am IN Oklahoma. I had already spoke to the store and they were going to assemble it. Well the order could not be modified and it was less than a minute of placing the order. It would not cancel. So now I am calling customer service 5 min in and customer service feeds me a load of crap saying its on its way. 3 days later I get a text saying it is just now on its way...but no one is there. Academy DO BETTER! I don't have the product...no way of receiving it and I am out 400+ dollars Now I don't want to deal with Academy ever again. Shouldn't have come to this.
NEVER get an academy credit card! They have ruined my credit! I was a loyal customer and they screwed me big time! They WILL NOT resolve the problem either! I paid my full amount on time every month and then around Christmas I made sure to send my payment off even earlier so I knew it would make it on time. Well, they say they didn't get it on time and charged me late fees that I WILL NOT pay. Told them to close my account and what do they do but keep charging me for BS! Screw these ppl. I always loved to shop at academy but I will not ever do it again. I would give them a ZERO star review bc they suck! I hope people read this and don't screw themselves like I did with this stupid credit card.
Terrible customer service. I do not recommend purchasing footwear at this store. If boots are defective, the policy is "its the manufacturers problem, not theirs". Save yourself $200 and purchase from a company that stands behind their product. This is why people shop online.
My wife and I bought an Outdoor Gourmet 4 burner griddle from Academy Sports a few months back. Please see the attached pictures. This griddle has been cleaned and covered after every use, yet rust continues to get worse. I've sent in pics and a review previously and the response from customer service is that I must buy products to remove the rust and it all falls on me. Academy will do nothing to address the issue. Why? I've sent in a secondary review and they refused to publish. No names mentioned, no vulgar language, just an honest review of the product and the less than satisfactory customer service response I received. Please stand behind your products Academy.
Just picked up my online order at Academy and bought some expensive Self Defense 380 rounds. A box of 25 is $32. Anyways they delivered it to my car and I went home. Opened the box and 9 rounds were MISSING out of the 25! Someone most likely internally is stealing bullets out of the boxes. I called the store and they said nothing they can do about ammo once it leaves the door. Well your person brought it to me. The response was well they should have checked it better, but you are out of luck. Never buying a thing again from Academy! Glad I placed a larger ammo order with another group.
Seems like the employees run from people that need help. In the past this was my go to store, now its becoming the stay away from store. I wanted to purchase an item a few months ago, I found what I was looking for but it takes at least 2 people to move it. I looked directly at 3 employees a few feet away. These guys were in conversation with just them selves. They all 3 looked at me and quickly ignored me. I left. Today I ordered an item on line then got a text message that it was ready for pickup. My thought is they have now moved it up to the customer service desk. NO, I had to wait until they could find someone to locate the item and bring it to the front. Leadership starts at the top, so what does that tell you?
The Academy Sports says they give a military discount. They only give a discount when they want to. Other stores give a discount on the other products all the time except for ammo and guns Academy Sports dishonors the military by only given discounts part-time. They shouldn't even give a discount at all if they're only going to give it part-time I've discussed this at length with them.
Bought a tent for fall softball. Just got it out this past weekend. It's dry-rotted & they refuse to do anything about it. Won't even swap for same tent. Will no longer be a customer.
My previous purchases were paid in full. Now told "Academy does not sell to you" because we're I live.
Ontario Canada. We will not sell you High Gloss shoes. There web site statement covers California, no other place mentioned. Asked why, No Response, Closing soon?
