Purchased a handgun online when I went to the n garland store to pick it up the clerk was slow which was ok. So 20 minutes into my lunch hour he finally gives me the ipad to answer the questions. Being in a hurry I answered a question wrong. The day shift was very polite about it and it was my fault. I was told my wife could always purchases it. So we went back around 7 pm after she bought and paid for it they said she could not buy it because we live at the same address and basically treated us like we were criminals trying to illegally purchase a gun. No one deserves such treatment and I will NEVER got to any Academy Sports for anything not even if they had a 1 cent sale on everything in their store
I have purchased 2 firearms from academy and have been well satisfied. The only problem has been that the online information is sometimes inaccurate. Not this stores fault. These reviews are all just sour grapes. Mechanical firearm problems have to be resolved by the manufacturer no matter where you buy it. Aspiring team members? Wake up and smell the roses. Life doesn't owe you anything you have to earn it! Waiting on the status of a firearm is the government, or you, everything ok on the application? Didn't forget about that felony on your record? I like academy! Not whiners
My experience at academy sports sucked the staff is rude the management doesn't care and their policies are so buyer unfriendly that I would never recommend academy to anyone looking to buy any item they have there's always somewhere else that has it and I guarantee it's cheaper and with better guarantee and bottom line better quality, their products suck, thanks for nothing academy you won't ever see my business again until you change everything.
My husband and I trying to shop tonight for him sweat pants, not only were there anti theft things in the pockets not places where they were supposed to be, sticking my husband in the fingers. When telling the employees they just shrugged it off. Then asking for help to find some Nike pants, we were told they don't make them in that color. Didn't ask if we'd like anything else, just walked away…come on guys, what's happened to customer service?

The Tent withheld a Driving rainstorm for Days. No problem, no leaks. Used the included Fan to help start fires for cooking. Bought cheap D batteries from Dollar Tree to put in Light / Fan Combo and have used it every day for both purposes. Batteries still going strong after a week.

But be carefully to buy items here, most has not so good quality, need to detail check.
I didn't receive a sandals from my order, and the customer service refused to help or send the sandals again.

Went to Owensboro Ky to shop at academy and look around and was treated very poorly by a cashier. We were very nice to her and she was no help at all with anything. Seemed like she hated her life. Definitely didn't even want to buy their products after that. And I don't plan to ever shop here again just because of that one encounter.
The people at the store are helpful. Prices are pretty good. Beware their credit card via comenity bank! They held our payment until we were late. We called them and used our debit card to pay and get rid of the late fees and interest. The next day they cashed our check and charged us a late fee. I have learned in the meantime that this is a matter of practice for them to hold your payment, charge late fees etc. Stay away from any in-store credit via comenity bank or you will regret it.
I found the perfect anniversary gift for my husband on a competitor's site but they canceled it due to stock. I found a replacement on Academy Sports' website but was worried about it arriving in time. I purchased online and hoped for the best and not only was the item cheaper through Academy, but I also qualified for free shipping and it arrived sooner than projected!
I got approved for a credit card the cashier pretty much begged me to sign up for. Ever since getting the credit card it's been nothing but a hassle. Every time I tried to use it I had to call customer support to get a restriction lifted. Now I have to do some more EXTRA $#*! and send 3 forms of ID just to use my card now. I don't have my social security card and I have to have that an inconvenience myself like I'm trying to get a job 🤦🏽. This has all around been a bad experience for a card I didn't even never thought about until it was brought to my attention. With service like this I don't think ACADEMY will be in Mississippi much longer.
Seems like the employees run from people that need help. In the past this was my go to store, now its becoming the stay away from store. I wanted to purchase an item a few months ago, I found what I was looking for but it takes at least 2 people to move it. I looked directly at 3 employees a few feet away. These guys were in conversation with just them selves. They all 3 looked at me and quickly ignored me. I left. Today I ordered an item on line then got a text message that it was ready for pickup. My thought is they have now moved it up to the customer service desk. NO, I had to wait until they could find someone to locate the item and bring it to the front. Leadership starts at the top, so what does that tell you?
Your online business is just absolute trash. Signed in and still won't allow process. Have to use pay pal. Then when items Cleary say ship to home. You get a notification saying we will email you when to head to the store. I love your products but have NEVER been satisfied and had a simple transaction to purchase things online... EVER. And I am a frequent customer even though I despise all the above bc your stuff is ok. But could be so much better with just a little better website management.
I read the fine print it says not valid on Yeti products or discounted or licensed products, price matches or combined with other promotions. I tried to order two full priced paddles for Pickleball and was denied the first responder discount. My order fit the description of what is allowable for the 10% discount and it was still denied with no reason given. I ended up ordering from Amazon the same two paddles in a bundle with balls and covers for the exact same price. It's no wonder amazon is closing down businesses.
I ordered a pair of shoes for my daughter, I got the order in today and there was only 1 shoe! I had to spend over 40 minutes on hold to be told I now have to drive into town and drop off at a fed ex location to get my refund, I ordered online to avoid going in anywhere. My first time ordering from them and will be my last. I do not recommend. It is obviously to much o ask to check the box before mailing
On site, I saw 9 shoes of the make and style I wanted. Drove to store on 59 feeder between Shepard and Kirby. The shoe I want had none in stock. I asked for help. I was told due to short staffing, it would take time to get someone to help me. I waited almost 15 minutes with no assistance. This is not the first time I did not receive ANY assistance at this store. So long Academy! You have screwed me for the last time. You folks do not deserve to be in business! Hello $#*! I order a Smith & Weston MP AR. 22 online and shipped to my local store. Got there, filled out the paperwork and then waited for 45 minutes while they waiting on another store to fax a return policy form to them because they didn't have any.
They had scanned a barcode on my email so they knew exactly which gun was mine. Had my ID the whole time, even telling me happy early birthday (it's in two weeks) and called me by name over the store speaker when they finally got the return policy paperwork to print (their printer was broken down for about 45 minutes)
I never seen the box nor gun while I was there and they carried it straight to my trunk and I drove home. When I finally got it out, someone else's name is in the box along with their order number but the gun is already in my name. This just happened and I'm currently looking into what I need to do.
My kid purchased a bamboo rod from academy. It's had a bad connection can't even use for first time. We brought it back to Academy and they don't want to take it back because he doesn't have a receipt with him. When I try talk to the store manager she said she will gave him a store credit for the rod but only $0.12 cents. Compared to $3.99 at the time they were selling. Was insulted, ripped off fr a kid? Will never spend a dime Academy no more.
Beware of Academy Sports "bait & switch" pricing policies. I purchased a pair of men's boots on their website@ $59.99 and when I proceeded to checkout was being charged $79.99. The customer service rep said sometimes Google takes 2 weeks to take down a sales price and maybe my computer has
"Cookies" that hold sales prices? They refused to honor the price listed on their website!

Ordered 2 girls bikes online. Received confirmation the order was received and the bikes are shipping. 24 hrs later I get a cancellation notification on one of the bikes. I call customer service. They say the bike is no longer available. (yet available in stores) I do not understand why they could not take stock from a store and ship it. I am sure FedEx delivers to the store. Anyway, I was told no other 24" girls bikes were available. As this is an Easter gift, I was forced to order a 24" Boys bike because I was told no 24" girls bike was available. (Not true, they had a few listed)
So, I track the 1st bike I ordered and the tracking number is not working. No bike can be found. I have spent several hours on the phone, emails and texts. I get an email telling me they will give me a code for 10% off up to $20 on my next purchase! I am NEVER ordering from these guys again. How is 10% going to make things better. Customer service means nothing to these guys.
